Hellllooooo! Is it OK if I join this group. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Peggy and I am a foodaholic!!!
I am also a grandmother who chased two little girls around for the past 14 days. Whew! It is good to get back to work to get some well deserved rest. Unfortunately, the work came with a promotion and even more work. My head is swimming here these days and I haven't bothered to sign on to the net when I get home at night.
Fortunately, the chasing came with a 3 lb. loss. Whoohoo. After that was the mil's 90th birthday party...still stayed the same weight. Sooo, by and large, I didn't make my June goal, but I am closer than I was before I set the goal. To me, that is success in itself.
Jo - Butt kick, butt kick, butt kick!!!!!!! Now you won't be able to sit down for a week (mostly at the table), so you might as well get on that tread mill and get yourself moving. You can do this. I know that you can. You have set goals, so remind yourself of those goals before you start to binge. Also make sure you plan each day. Without a plan, it is so easy to go astray. Remember, you have come waaayyy too far to destroy what is already accomplished.
When you finish the kitchen...send pics. I really want to see what it looks like. I am trying to finish the counter tops at our house, but don't want to rip everything apart just yet because we are having so much overnight company right now. Soooo, it is now just half finished. I hate that state.
CJ - Hi girl. It's great to be missed. I haven't even had time to read the posts and have missed you all so much. I finally decided to stay after work today (while waiting for hubby) and catch up with you all. I read your long term goals. You have it right. Take this slow and easy and in small steps. You can do this, I know. You have the determination and will power. I am ashamed to say that I haven't been journalling for about a month. Although I know I should be, I haven't gained any weight, so it tends to make me even more complacent. I guess one of the things that happened this past year, is that I established new habits. I find that I care to have snacks at night anymore, when I want to do something with my hands, I automatically reach for a glass of water, and when I check the fridge for something to eat, I reach for the veggies. That wouldn't have happened a year ago, so I guess I have changed my eating plan. I now have to work on the exercise. Still really hate that.
Carolyn - Fun with the granddaughter - you are so lucky. Mine live quite far away so I don't get to see them often. Are you on summer vacatrion now? I won't be taking vacation this summer - operationally, vacations have been revoked for the summer. Guess I'll just have to do the hot climate thing in Feb. when the weather is down to -30. Hope you have a great summer.
Judy - Good to hear from you. You are doing so well in the weight loss department. I know you can be down to 200 by the end of the year. Keep at it...you can do this.
If I don't get back to check in tomorrow, wishing everyone a great July 4th. We just celebrated Canada Day on Monday, so it is work for me. I will be thinking of you all lounging around on Thurs....maybve I won't want to think about that. Jo, I will think about you, though, wishing that I could be at home working on my kitchen. Have a great holiday.
Take care.

I am sorry for not posting the last couple of days..... my parents are here and boy am I taking advantage of it..... mom's making my lunchs, my dinner..... oh la la.... washed my clothes..... and remember those 4 flats of flowers that I bought what? a month ago? well..... her and dad planted those suckers this morning.... dang.... does it feel great to get pampered.... so sorry Joanna... hehe.....
Joanna? Joanna who? My sister? gees..... I sure wish she would post..... I should send her a nasty e-mail and scold her shouldn't I? She is off all this week and her "love" is working days all week/week-end so she should have plenty of time to post... mom is not taking up her time either.... emmmm I'll have to work on her a bit.....
I told you ladies that we were posting at my speed... one on one... hehe..... I am glad to see that we "shamed" the others into posting Carolyn..... we did good....
You know.... I have been wanting to smoke so instead I am eating..... without even thinking a about it.... but its not sweets, not fast food.... lots of fruit and I am drinking more milk than juices.... I can't hack the taste of diet drinks and thats my killer with diabetes..... so I am moderately drinking juices 100% juices not juice cocktail drinks..... I too am lazy.... I have a fully paid account with Fitness USA but fail to use it.... duh...... I never did like the work out part, bad knees, bad back.... blah blah... but I love to swim.... you would think I would swim..... I need to get back and do that.....
My Aunt Rose is a psychic and she's really good at it... and she says that Mercury was retrograde about a month ago.... and that when this happens we are doing everything again..... things are repeated.... like for instance.... if we lost 10 pounds during that time period.... we are likely to gain it back quickly and have to lose it again after Mercury is out of retrograde.... Mercury itself is moving backward and during that time we are likely to have to repeat whatever has happened.... taking one step forward and moving back two steps sort of thing.... maybe thats why we are all in a "funk" but that time has moved on now and Mercury is no longer retrograde.... so we should be back on track.... emmmm something was lost in the translation of all this.... anyone know what I am talking about??????
well..... anyways..... I guess I am trying to find a "reason" for our funks..... hehe..... not doing good am I? I do want to ask a question..... what does OP mean? I am assuming it means you are doing good with the diet/exercising but what does it stand for?
Talk about rambling..... dang I can ramble with the best of them..... hehe..... didn't mean to but I guess I have.....
I am going to work on our family Newsletter and will post soon..... everyone have a wonderful holiday and a safe one....
Hi everyone, Sam here. Quick message as I'm in a hurry. I'm a big fatty again now (boo hoo), 25 pounds up at 28 weeks pg. Have I mentioned we're having amother girl? Her name will be Josephine (so Charlie and Josie).
Anyways this will be my last pgy, so I'm trying to enjoy it. But I'm so tired! Working fulltime again and a 14.5 month old and 6.5 months pg. Ah well. I'll be back, love to all! Sam
Congrates to you Sam!!!!! A baby girl.... how wonderful. Good luck to you and your family.... don't worry to much about the weight..... you can start over in losing the weight and chasing after three little ones will help....
I have been up since 8:00 a.m. and started cleaning off the patio and washing down the furniture.... it seems I was elected to have the cook out today so theres going to be 13 of us here today..... mom and dad were outside at 7:00 a.m. pulling weeds and washing down the back patio..... what a chore... we had to come in and clean a little bit too.....just showered and finally sitting down.... everyone is not due over until about 4:00 p.m. so we have a little time to relax.... not sure if the gas grill has gas or not.. so we are going to use it for as long as we can, mom is fixing the chicken on the George Foreman grill..... thank God for the Foreman grill..... I've had a bowl of cereal this morning... hopefully I will stay pretty good the rest of the day..... no sweets..... but I will all into the foods.....
Gotta go..... have a wonderful 4th of July and ENJOY!!!!!!
Love to you all..... Carolyn
Pat - This is a bit off topic, but just wanted your opinion on your George Foreman grill. Right now I have a Jenn Air unit in my kitchen, but we are re-doing the kitchen. I don't like the style of the current Jenn Airs, or any other grill type units so am contemplating putting in a plain stove top unit and purchasing a counter top grill - something like the George Foreman grill. Does this work well indoors? Do you vent the fumes? Does the grill also come with a griddle to fry? Thanks for your info. I have been trying to find someone who owns one that will give me some good advice.
Hope your cookout is a great success. I am sitting at work trying to deflect some union grievances right now. Can hardly wait til the day ends.
Hi Peggy..... This is Carolyn (Regency)... Pat Conroy is the person who said my quote about Life without music......
The George Foreman grill comes in different sizes.... like maybe 2 chicken breasts.... 4 chicken breasts and 6 chicken breasts sizes... and you can get one that will steam your buns on top of it... its slanted so that the grease can drain off into a drip tray... it cooks the meat in record time as you close the grill and it cooks on both sides at the same time..... its truly healthy eating and easy to clean up.... it has a not stick griddle with grooves..... I don't think you can buy one with interchangeable type griddle so that you can prepare pancakes on it for instance...... just the grooved surface.... they are nice and great to cook on..... no venting... its like cooking in an electric skillet..... and are not expensive at all.... good luck in whatever you choose.... and good luck with the remodeling job.
well..... I had better go for now.... its really late and I need to get some sleep as I have to work in the morning.....
One hundred percent perfect doesn't exist. Strive for 80% and forgive yourself immediately for the other 20%. The easier you are on yourself, the more likely you will be able to get back on track.
This thought was sent to me by DietWatch. I read it several times and wanted to share it with the rest of you.
We all have to get ourselves out of the funk we've been in!
CJ, you said Sharon's computer was down, but what is the reason we haven't heard from Sandi or Gail? Has anybody heard from either one of them? Ladies, if you are lurking around here, please take the time to write a quick post.
Boy so much has happened to in the past month, don't know where to start.
I am posting this from my Ken's brothers house in Monroe, Michigan. Yesterday I got up and decided to go to Michigan to see Dad and Ken's family for the 4th of July. So here we are.
Yes our computer went down last month and we just got it back not too long ago. So right after the last time I posted it went down. The next week I went to visit my girlfriend in Phoenix, Arizona for 4 days, had fun with her. Than I was back just a few days and off we went to San Antonio, Texas for our son Alan's basic training graduation at Lackland Air Force Base. It was a very emotional and proud time for Ken and myself. Daughter in the Air Force in Florida, Tracy went as well with her fiance, Brett. They are engaged and will be married this coming June 14th, the day before my birthday. Brett is also in the Air Force and stationed in Florida at Eglin AFB. But it was so wonderful to see Alan in his blues standing next to our daughter in her blues as well. Big sister and mentor with her little brother, 2 of my 4 kids both helping defend our country. Wow we sure proud parents. Ken himself was in the Air Force and with me being the only one never in the military and Air Force I sure at times had no clue what Ken, Tracy, Alan and Brett were talking about sometimes. LOL But all in all, it was a memorial trip. He is now in tech school in Wichita Falls, Texas and is going to school for HVAC which is heating, venilation and air conditioning. He as kind of bummed at first cause he wanted Jet Mechanic's, but knows now that he will do fine in this cause do you know how much they charge to fix you furnace or air conditioning? He should be able to get a job too if he gets out after his time is up if he doesn't decide to stay in like Tracy has.
Anyways things have been going well, I am now finishing up with my Early Childhood job and have been selected to stay on for another month for clean up. Also a couple of days ago I wenton an interview for another job for the University Of Michigan for a study they are doing and got the job. I have to go to Ann Arbor, Michigan for training the end of July. So I am excited about that. Only thing that I have to be available to travel 2 weeks out of the month if they need me, but I should be able to handle that. I don't know how long this study will be, they said up to a year so we will see.
Also I am soooo happy but my Dad, Papa is doing so much better. Remember he had the feed tube and didn't walk and even had to wear a depends cause of the dump syndrom of the feed tube? Well he decided he wanted to start eating than he pulled the feed tube out of him. Than my sister in law, Chrissy started him walking up and down the hall and now he is walking with a walker. Than she kept at him and now he lost the depends and is on his own as far as the bathroom. So this past Monday he was doing so good on his own that he moved to an assisted living center and out of the nursing home. He loves it there, plays cards all the time and is starting to go on the bus to activities like the Detroit Tiger games ect. So I am so happy for him now that he has a good quality of life. Yes God is good.
But one thing I am soooo gratefull to Chrissy for all she has done with Dad. I know that if it wasn't for her he would not be where he is today. But I won't be able to see her this weekend cause she went to Virginia to see her sister, Cynthia. But I will get to see her daughters, Emily and Ellen. My daughter, Kelly is here too and we will probably all go out to dinner tomorrow night and take Dad out too. I can't wait to see his new place and him again.
Judy, you asked about Gail and Sandi. I haven't heard from Sandi, but Gail's husband, Ken retired a little while ago and they have been busy going and enjoying being off. Also her daughter, Carolyn had another baby, a girl named Kaitlyn. So she has been helping with the new baby and of course giving the other grandaugher, Cambree some attention as well. They whole family had a really bad flu bug a couple of times as well. But I hope she comes back to the group too and we keep in touch via email and with phone calls occasionly as well. But she is doing great and maybe one of these days she might surprise us and pop up.
To Sam, congratulations on your new upcoming baby girl. I am excited for you and just think Charlotte will have a playmate too. Let us know how things are going for you.
CJ, it was great talking to you on the phone and sorry I can't see you this time around while I am in Michigan. But hopefully next time we can get together.
Gosh, Carolyn, I too wish Joanna would post, I really miss her. Tell her to get in here and post or else. LOL
Anyways I better end this and when I get back home I will post again and be able to address you all. Thanks guys for not giving up on The Thin Group. I think if we all try to post more than we will not die out. We have been through so much with each other and we can't let this group down cause we all have each other.
Thanks to everyone who have hung in there and kept the frontline going, the 2 Carolyn's, Regency and Ch, Jello, CJ, Sylvia, Trish, Mary Kay, Sam, Judy, and Peggy. My love to each and everyone of you, and every one else in our wonderful group. Please everyone from our group take a few minutes, or longer like me, LOL and do a post and let us know if you are still around and how you are. I know that the summer everyone is busy, but we miss you guys and want you to come back to us. WE LOVE YOU!
Just a quickie! I'm soooooo glad to see the Thin Group alive and kicking (butt kicks that is ) again!
I'm home, computer is sloooowww and I'm busy busy busy. Just spent $$$$$ on a microwave/convection oven. Kitchen's shaping up but slow. Found out the wall cabinets are longer than we thought and now Rich has to move the light switch he just installed. Always something. Peggy, I've been taking photos all throughout and will post/send some befores and afters. BTW, GLAD to see you here again! Thanks for the kicks.
And speaking of glad to see someone here, HI to Sassy and Sam and Trish and, oh who've I forgotten???? Well, it's great to see the Thinsters back in action.
Gotta run. Rich is back from Home Depot yet again. Air conditioner died. As I said, always something. Hm, maybe I'll sweat off a few pounds...
I am so glad I "popped" in today. How great to see all you guys back again! It's just like "the old days". Sharon I thought you dropped off the face of the earth!!! Glad to hear from you. And Sam another girl, how wonderful. It's so much fun to buy baby clothes for little girls. Hang in there, you will make it.
I've read so many post, I can't remember who ask about op. It means "on plan" which means you are following whatever diet program your on. Did that make any sense????
Hope everyones fourth was great. Mine was and I didn't do to badly. At least not as bad as I had in the past. Right now I am eating lots of fruit. Especially watermelon.
I also have a George Foreman grill, mine is the smallest and I cook everything on it. The only thing I wish I had is some control over heat, like high, med. and low. I think the larger ones do but for me the small one is big enough. I haven't started my outside grill in over a year.
Someone is calling me so I need to scoot.. Later, Carolyn
Hello again. I am the one who said that she was going to start posting again........well you know how that turned out. I can't undo what I didn't do unless I start again. So here goes.
I just got back from vacation. I went to see my parents. My mom is not doing good. She has 3 different docs and they need to comunicate with each other. It would take a long time to get into all of it, I guess it is just distressing to see how she is. I will get through this though and so will she.
I don't go back to work until Tues. I am eating what I want until then. After that I have to get some kind of program going. I don't want to end up like my mom.
I will make the 9th my starting day. Well, have to go for now and will start to make a point of getting here at least once a week. Thanks for hanging in there everyone!
Mary Kay
Hi everyone. Hope your weekend was super. We are finally having good weather here, but the forecast for this week is rain. That's OK, though, it is so dry. We have a water ban on outside water, so we have been losing a lot of our outside plants this year. They are shrivelling away to nothing.
Mary Kay - The 9th is a lucky day. I started my weight loss program last July 9th. Voila! 60 pounds down and feeling great. You can do this.
Thanks everyone for the advice on the grills. I bought a plain stove top this past weekend and plan to use a counter top grill instead of having the grill in the cook unit. We have used our Jenn Air so much in the past 20 years, I don't think I could give up the indoor grill. The new ones on the market are a bonus now.
I am managing to stay at the same weight. However, I am not eating very healthy at the moment...too many cookies and too much ice cream. However, I am getting quite a bit of exercise in to counteract that, so am staying at the same weight.
Like Jo, we are renovating our kitchen. Hubby is rebuilding our island, so when he is finished then I can finish tiling the counter tops and back splaches. Most of the tiling is done, but just waiting for the island. I want to grout the entire thing at one time, so it will be a couple of weeks yet before that will be ready. Then, it is just a bit of painting and the flooring to be replaced. I can hardly wait til that job is done.
Hope everyone has a great week. Remember water, water, water!!!

Well, it's sure nice to see some familiar faces( you know what I mean). Sorry for not posting last week, our DSL was down and we were having some problems with dial up .... not anymore!!
I've been trying to stay on the low carb thing but for some reason I just want to eat carbs. French bread anyone? I know I've mentioned that we are trying to have a baby. Still no luck. I turned 34 yesterday and think I'm having a midlife crisis. All I did was cry. My poor husband didn't know what to do other than hold me.<sigh> I know I need to cut out the cabs but something in me can't do it. I'm going to another OB/GYN next week, they think I have PCOS ( polycistic something) and aren't ovulating. I'm scared of what this new doctor is going to say to me. I'm still waiting for my primary doctor to refer me to a nutritionist to help me with my "problem". I am walking more and am doing my pilates twice a week. I still don't have a job and look at this time as the "self improvement" phase of my life. One day at a time.
Sharon- So nice to hear from you! I know what it's like not having your computer .... did you have any withdrawals? I'm glad Papa is doing better.
CJ- Nice to hear from you as well!
Sam- Another girl... how wonderful. Don't worry about the weight, I'm sure you will lose it very soon. It's always nice to hear from you.
Jo-Hang in there chickie!!!! Remember, Rome was not built in a day. I know it's easier said than done but if you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything you want.
Judy- Don't worry, you'll drop those pounds soon. Keep up the good work.
The Carolyns- you guys did a great job keeping this group together!!! Keep up the great job!
Peggy- You crack me up. Where can I join the "foodaholic" meetings?!?!
Well ladies, I'm off to bed. I keep banging my head on the computer desk ....falling asleep. A big hello to all tha I didn't address personally.
Good morning! Our company just left yesterday - it really got quiet here fast! haha Our son and DIL will be here sometimes this afternoon .... right now I am just "lounging" and drinking my coffee. Not even dressed yet! I did not journal while company was here, but tried to mentally stay OP as much as possible. I weighed this morning and stayed the same - so thank heaven for that! Back to journaling starting today!
MK: glad to see you back! Good luck on starting your "healthy way of eating" today, right? Post often.
Sharon: Well, finally, you posted! Was good talking to you too - sorry we had to cut it short tho. Good news on papa!
Peggy: I also have a George Foreman grill and I really love it. I do not have the one that has heat adjustments tho ... but I like the one I have. I know Sharon has one also ... she has a bigger one than I and I think she likes her's too.
Dreamer: Good to hear from you! Another girl - how wonderful. Great news. You take care of yourself, and post often and keep us updated.
Slyvia: Good to hear from you. Keep you chin up girl ... everything will fall into place somehow for you. Good luck with the doctor next week.
Jo: Well, how are you doing girl? Still staying OP?
Judy: Nice to "chat" a bit with you this morning.
Well, have to go for now .... but, I shall return.
