hey ladies! here is a really good article on "phantom fat" that i stole from the 20-somethings. it discusses how we still perceive ourselves as overweight long after we have lost the weight. pretty interesting read. enjoy. |
I just read the article. I totally identify with it. Even thought I KNOW I lost weight and am down sizes, I still feel huge someetimes. Like I'm even bigger than my highest weight. It's totally a mental thing. If I hadn't taken a picture of myself, I wouldn't believe I'd changed at all.
I did get up this morning and do day 2 of my 30 Day Shred!!! I was still sore, but it definitely wasn't as hard as yesterday. I ate ok yesterday, but it wasn't the best. I also walked to work yesterday. I think I need to eat more protein or something. So I'm about to go pack my lunch and eat a healthy breakfast. Let's keep it crunk for another day on plan today! :carrot: I'm glad you ladies are doing ok. Who all watched the biggest loser season premiere?!?! I think it's gonna be good. Matilda, I know it must be hard for you, but you've been doing so good so far. Maybe you can PM Devsmama. Not sure if she's a single mom too, but I think her challenges may be similar to yours. Cake: You are BACK!!! :) Brie: You still on plan over there? Hows the detox going? |
I just read the article and I can totally understandt. I can definitely identify withthe appearance investment thing. I dress like I am gonna see my worst enemy when I leave the house 90% of the time! I always have to look my best because I am fat.
Well I was track yesterday and I have been doing pretty well over all. I am starting to think I am going to have to turn down some invites to stay on track. At least once week I am at a friends or at an event or party.... Beaka - I watched TBL and I am ready for more. It looks like it is going to be interesting! Matilda - I am so sorry you having such a rough time. I wish I could help. But it will get better. You are going to have to start packing food in advance and maybe cutting one day of the gym or something. |
I'm a newbie!!!
Hey yall!
i'm loving this group already! I need some serious support! I'm on day 3 of the fat smash diet and i'm getting a little bored. I've got to lose these pounds! Failure is not an option. And just like alot of my fellow sisters. I'm just trying to slim the waist and face. Can't lose the donk at all!;) |
Fellow Fat Smasher!
Hey TK:
Girl, i'm ding the fat smash also. I'm on day 3 right now and i'm getting kind of bored. How did you get over the hump? Also, did you do any meatless "meat" like Morningstar or Boca? Originally Posted by Lady TK: |

i am also on day 3 of phase 1 detox and i do eat boca veggie burgers. it is a little boring but i like to look up recipes to cook veggies different ways and recipes for beans, sweet potatoes etc. although its boring if u stick with it the results are amazing. i am doing the detox for 17 days as a personal challenge but we can def support each other if you would like! i am still going strong ya'll i coughed up the money to start with the PT today so i know that will accelerate my results. i am super motivated and focused and all of the bdays and food-centered engagements are over till thanksgiving so i can focus on my body. this is truly the best time of the year to get OP for me. i will begin my running again tomorrow since thats one of my goals this year. between that and spinning and the trainer im looking to be real close to or at goal by years end. i know it sounds like a lot but i feel like i can do it if i stay focused. shari - i hope yr week is getting better. i read your story book and that was one **** of a day. take care of yourself girl! beaka - yay we are back OP lets make sure we support each other. should we start another challenge maybe from halloween to christmas to try to keep it together thru the holidays. i will be a better moderator if we commit to posting more cake - i knew u would benefit from the article. it sucks that you work so hard to get yr body right but yr brain wont catch up. maybe we could share things to do to help our brains catch up like one day a week go out the house comfy and not dressed all jazzy... lol idk there has to be a way for us to combat it. |
5STAR - Welcome!
Brie - Yes you knew I could relate. I assume you do the same as far as appearance wise....we seem to have a lot in common in that dept. Ya'll I don't know what is wrong with me. I have been hovering around the same 4 pounds for like a month. The thing is I did well this week but i was hungry yester-evening and so I ate something. This of course took me over my points and I didn't workout yesterda (it was my off day) so I didn't have any flex pts or activity to fall on. You would think being so close I could just stay with it no matter what....I know alot of this has to do with TOM but jeesh.... |
Good morning All! Just did Day 3 of the 30 Day Shred. I'm not gonna lie. I hated her today. I didn't wanna do it. I was sore, and I might have cheated a little. But at least I didn't quit. I did good yesterday though since I did 30 min. on the elliptical too and ate pretty well.
5StarChick: :welcome2: Cake: I dunno? Have you been on plan all month? Is this your first time hitting a plateau? Brie: YAY! Yes, we are on plan and staying on plan!!! And it is gonna be tough going through the holidays. I guess it may not be as bad for me this year since I won't be around my family much. Hope all of you ladies have a beautiful on plan day! :) |
Beaka WTG on staying POP!!! And yea I have OK this month. I have plateaued at least 4 times in the past 55 weeks.....(two of those were true plateaus and the other two were just mediocre effort). I will be fine just wanted to complain

Thanks bjeweled!! Girl we will definitely support each other. i think this group is exactly what i need as i try to lose the excess weight. my mom and my sister try to keep me motivated, but sometimes i don't think they truly understand the struggle. My mom has been a size 8 her whole life and my sister is a size 2 after having a 9 lb. baby boy!!! So it's like i appreciate their help, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking, "U don't even know how hard this is!!"
But, let me get off the soapbox. I did find some pretty good phase 1 recipes on the forums. I tried the pizza and i'm thinking about making the oatmeal cookies tonight. The pizza was....ok. it takes a little getting used to. I went to the gym yesterday and i will probably go again today. Let's do it girl!!! Originally Posted by bjeweled: |

Cake -thanks for the kind words. I wish your profile pic was bigger but from what I can see it looks hot lol Bejeweled thats for the kind words as well I have just decided that I am going to get thirty mins in at the gym on most mornings as opposed to a whole hour. For some reason I was looking at working out for a 30mins as if it was nothing and in reality its better than doing nothing. My day starts at nine and I drop my son off at daycare at around 7:30 -8:00 so I can get a thirty min jog in three times a week. I went to the gym last night. I dont know Im not good at planning meals what are you guys eating these days??????????????? |
hey ladies day 4 of my detox and im ready for the initial shock of eating healthy to pass. i am sick of being in the restroom...im going to leave it at that!
sooo went to the trainer today and he had some chick working me out and i dont want to be rude but i only want to work with him cause he pushes me. this workout was not tough enough and i need these next 4 weeks that i am here to really get my WL going. so i think i am going to talk to him about it tomorrow and i hope i dont offend him cus the other trainers are his wife and his good friend :?: 5star - how is it going? i need to take a look at some of those recipes too. i hope yr still smashing with me cake- youve been sooo consistent u get pissed with a lil inconsistency. i always give in just a little bit to TOM just because it makes it easier to move forward. you'll be fine:hug: matilda - see minor changes make all the difference beaka - we rocking this thang! lol i plan to be POP till thanksgiving or i will surely perish lol;) |

And can I tell you how much I love that song?!?! Gotta love Yo Gotti! Matilda:30 minutes is good. It's a whole lot more than most people are doing. You just gotta make sure it's a good 30 minutes. And planning meals is something that makes a HUGE difference for me. You gotta plan to stay on plan. Personally, I need the structure to stay on plan. If I don't have in my head what I'm gonna eat, I just eat whatever. Tonight, I'm having some chicken that I marinaded in Honey Dijon sauce, whole wheat couscous (Brie if you're reading this you bet not say NUTHIN bout my couscous :p) with tomatoes and feta, and some broccoli. Girl, I be Food Networking it up in my kitchen! :) When it gets a little colder I'll be bustin out my crockpot. I know it's old school, but you just throw stuff in and it's ready when you get home from work. You can find a lot of really great crockpot recipes online. |
couscous tastes like you are licking cream of wheat straight up out the box.that is all.
