Chin up ladies, it's tough but it is worth it. Come on RED!!!

JazzyPeggy 07-04-2009 08:26 AM

I totally blew it on all of mine yesterday. I was busy and forgot to do some of them. The one fruit and one vege is burned in my brain, but I forgot to eat the fruit last night for a snack. So I'm starting them all over and changing one of them. I want to do sparkpeople, but it's so time consuming. WW's really works, If I will do like I'm supposed to do and really work it.

1. Journal my food daily, every bite.-2 pauses allowed-
2. Drink 24 oz water-1 pause allowed-
3. No eating after 10:30 p.m.-3 pauses allowed-

Happy 4th July to all my American friends. Have a good one.
Now for another day of getting things done around here. Finishing the laundry, cleaning the kitchen, getting stuck into the tiling. That's on the list for today.
Peggy - not sure I understand all the goals in your life, but they inspire you and that is all that matters. Have a good day.

slogging along....

Recovering from too much beer at a party yesterday, but determined to get to the gym for a bit of weight training before the entire day is wasted. Despite the partying, I still stuck to my two challenges, so all is not lost. It's hard to believe that I am actually sticking to the minimal sugar challenge. It's been hugely helped by the fact that I was off work this past week. It was so nice to be away from the office. I have three more weeks of it and then I'm fearful of what I will do to make a living. Well, that's not the hard part. Keeping the horse is. I do want to keep her, but wonder if I can. She costs so much. Anyhow, wish me luck for another week. :^:

Shad -- Thanks for the 4th of July wishes. I did my celebrating all right, though there were no fireworks. It was a party at the riding club, not really much fun at all, thus the overdrinking. So, you're back home, no? I hope it can give you a bit of respite from the stresses of your work. You're doing so well on your challenges and they are HARD! 1,300 calories. Wow. How do you do it?

Jaz -- I've done that before, just forgotten about the challenges. That's a bummer, isn't it? But, it's still better than intentionally blowing them off. Just get back on the horse. You can do this.

diyana -- Bravo for you and sticking to your challenge, another hard one for sure! :bravo: How did your hair appointment go? Happy with the results?

Hey, I am into double figures. That's an achievement

Back in Sydney for the next 2 weeks. Can feel it already. Ears hurt, nose hurts, coughing, eyes running. Yep, Sydney sure is a clean air city - NOT!!
This morning I took a friends advice and walked to work along less crowded paths. It was better on the temper anyway.

a blip in the road...

Oh, God, it's back to the dreaded office today. This bears ill for my sugar challenge.... :( Had to take a pause yesterday, the thought of today was getting to me....

Shad -- Hi there! Never would have thought Sydney was polluted. Well, take care and great going on the double digits!

diyana 07-06-2009 09:48 AM

Red - Good for you for sticking with your challenges and getting your weight training in. I'm sure you'll find a good job soon so that you can make a good living AND keep your beloved horse.

Shad - Sorry to hear Sydney does such a number on your health and your temper...but only 2 more weeks! Yay!!!

Jazzy - We strive for progress not perfection....that's why pauses are allowed. I certainly wasn't perfect this weekend. I don't know why it is but I've been using A TON of points on Sundays! :dunno:

Weekend Results
Day 14 (Friday) - Journal AND stay within calorie/point range - done No pauses taken

Day 15 (Saturday) - Journal AND stay within calorie/point range - done No pauses taken

Day 16 (Sunday) - Journal AND stay within calorie/point range - done No pauses taken -- I used a lot of my weekly points allowance to make up for going so far over my daily points. I do so much better and have much more control during the week.

Also, I don't think I ate even 5 servings of veg the entire weekend....much less each day. Time to get back on track and eat right....I want this week's weigh in to be good. I am planning on getting to the gym tonight, but I have a few important errands to run first.

Hugs to all,

made it!

Well, I made it through the day back at the office. It was rough. Being away from it, I realized how much the place really, really bothers me. I realized too how bitter the decision is, but that I had no choice. To stay there was killing me.
I got to the gym and did some leg work. They are hurting big time today. Here's to success today as well. :^:

diyana -- Thank you so much for your kind words of support. Saying I will find work and a way to keep my horse means a lot to me. It is my biggest worry, my biggest wish.
Eating vegetables is hard. I had some corn in the fridge that I knew was getting old. So, when I came home last night I salvaged it, boiled it up and ate it. It was nice. I was thinking how I need to learn to make some nice, yet simple vegetable recipes so that I can eat more myself.
Good luck on your challenges. You are doing a great job and I am very impressed!
Hope you were able to make it to the gym.

diyana 07-07-2009 08:44 AM

I had a major accomplishment yesterday! I was not able to make it to the gym so I went for a walk. I was able to walk about the block (a little over a mile) in about 20 minutes, with essentially no pain. :woohoo: This may not seem like much to most people, but it's been nearly a year since I've been able to walk more than 8 or 10 minutes before the back pain would require me to sit a bit. I can now confidentially tell my regular doctor, neurosurgeon and pain doctor that the cortisone shot I received last Wednesday seems to be helping a lot! Yay!

Tonight is going to be a challenge as we are going to a baseball game, where beer is plentiful and healthy food choices are scarce. I'll make the best choices available and limit the beers to 1 (okay...maybe 2). And I may just have to use my remaining weekly points tonight and eat less tomorrow.

Day 17 - Journal AND stay within calorie/point range - done No pauses taken

*********

Red - Congrats on doing so well on your challenges, despite the negative work atmosphere. It sucks when you are so unhappy at work as that's where we spend most of our waking hours. I've had jobs like that...and I'm so grateful to be in a better environment and job I enjoy now! You are a talented and motivated individual, just stay positive and you'll get a great well paying job where you can be happy.

Shad - I hope your work week is going well...just a couple weeks left, right? Hang in there.

Jazzy - How are you doing?

Hugs,

That's it - out of computer time. Got to get on with life.
Hope we are all feeling somewhat positive and Michelle it is great to hear about that back.

admitting a pause...

Well, I was going to maybe allow yesterday's sugar, but it wasn't "minimal" and so I just have to be honest. Who am I trying to kid? So, another pause, but still going strong. At least there was no bingeing and even when I realized I wasn't going to allow the day I didn't go out and have a pigfest. Good one, eh?
Caffeine on the other hand, is good. I was tempted to down a bit more tea but didn't. The idea now of coffee, coffee, coffee is turning me off. I really am getting by on very little caffeine these days. I have learned to accept the tiredness and just push through it instead of going for that "kick." It was like hunger used to be for me. The moment it appeared I would panic almost. Now, I have gotten used to actually looking for it. With the tiredness, I in no way look forward to it, but I can accept it much more. Otherwise, how can I ever expect to get past this and improve? I guess it's like that with a lot of things.

diyana -- Oh, way to go on the walking! :bravo: That IS a major stepping stone (no pun intended, but applicable!). You must be so happy. Do you know what the source of your back pain is? Does the cortisone just cover it up? Even if so, it may help you exercise or do whatever you need to strengthen your back and free yourself of the pain over the long run. I hope you were able to resist the temptations at the ball game!

Shad -- You are really doing well. Almost two weeks through your challenges. Have you seen any weight loss or aren't you looking yet? Eleven days on 1,300 calories?!?!? I'd be acting like a starving wolf!

JazzyPeggy 07-07-2009 09:46 PM

1. Journal my food daily, every bite.-2 pauses allowed-
2. Drink 24 oz water-1 pause allowed- 4 days completed
3. No eating after 10:30 p.m.-3 pauses allowed-
4. 1 fruit/1 vege minimum daily-3 pauses allowed-

I know I didn't journal my food on Sunday. I also know I didn't have my fruit/vege. So I'm just going to put those back to day 1, day 1 being today hopefully. (I need to eat a fruit.)

Remembering my water though.
