Good for you Shad for doing so well on your challenges! :bravo:

miriam101 06-25-2009 01:36 PM

WTG MICHELLE!!!!!

What are your new challenges going to be?

I am on Day 3 - piece of fruit. Let me tell you, it ain't no piece of cake....!

I'm pretty disgusted with myself, reading success stories on 3FC and eating chocolate.Ugh. How pathetic is that?!?!

redballoon 06-25-2009 08:42 PM

Well, I've made it through the bone-dead fatigue of the past few days without giving in to extra coffee. Pms aggravated it horribly. I literally felt like I could not move. It was the worst ever. I guess I picked a bad time to start cutting back on caffeine, but it should be better from here on. The other challenges I am giving up on. Sap Busters is too difficult and going off one element gives my twisted mind license to go off all of them. The most important one at this time, with my weight at a disgusting recent high, is cutting out the booze. Cigarettes will be easy if I'm not drinking. I am going to (for a recent first) try once again to keep sugar to a minimum. I will not define "minimum" and I will try to have days with NO sugar. I know it's pathetic but I feel happy looking forward to a bit of sugar and in my gross physical state now, I can't enjoy the happy, looking-forward feeling of non-food incentives yet. I am hoping I will be able to in the future, when looking at the body I have made will give me a lift. Now, well....you all know how it feels.... :(

Hello to all of you!

God, I am just livid at work. I may have to drink tonight.... What better way is there to alleviate the anger than going out with coworkers and griping over drinks? There isn't....so I'm just going to have to be strong and go beyond this, think of drinking as they further driving in the knife, yet with my own hand. No, wonder I have skin problems.

diyana 06-26-2009 07:37 AM

Red - Sorry you had such an awful day at work. I know there are many times when I want to have a "liquid" lunch or go for happy hour after work. Did you end up going out with your co-workers? The challenges you set for yourself are very difficult ones to tackle one at a time, and you're doing all of them. I hope things get better for you at work...at least there is a light at the end of that tunnel. Maybe now is a good time pamper yourself/treat yourself well...instead of treating yourself to things that are toxic.

As for me....

Got a dose of the munchies yesterday. Didn't help that I was working from home either. Guess I need to get a padlock on the fridge.
I don't see my crunches challenge here. Just realised. I have been doing them just not putting them down. Well that better stop.

Hello to all of you!

redballon... you sound like a kindred spirit. I am always trying to give myself 14 or 30 day challenges....which some I get through and some I don't. But I know the first 2 weeks is the hardest when cutting out the booze or caffeine or any bad habit! I shall follow along with you and hopefully we can kick these habits to the curb. I usually only log in once a week so I will try to post my updates and stick with it.

I was reading your other posts too and I believe I also have adrenal fatigue... Two years is a long time but I want to start healing my adrenal glands now so in two years I'll feel completely opposite of what I do now! I always feel tired and run down... but then I get bursts of energy at night, I can't get to sleep and then when I do I want to sleep all day and no matter how much I do sleep I feel sluggish every day. I have chronic depression, intense fatigue, I gain weight quickly, I'm stressed out, I've been trying to find a remedies to help my energy levels and have finally come to the adrenal fatigue. It is dead on. But I don't know much about it and will try to start researching. I know I need to manage my stress, cut out caffeine/stimulants, eat well & drink water. But what else are you doing to help it? Right now I'm at a spot where I know that I need to eat better & exercise, but I feel like I can't ever get started. I'm so tired all the time.

Shad 06-28-2009 07:32 PM

No snacking - 2 pauses - Day 5 done
Portion control - 2 pauses - Day 5 done
1300 calorie limit - 2 pauses Day 4 done 1384 cals
Water - 1 litre per day - 3 pauses - Day 6 done.
50 Crunches - 3 pauses - Day 6 done.

Getting there. Yesterday wasn't so much of a struggle with the munchies, however I didn't have much exciting in the cupboard or fridge to munch on. Now if that isn't a hint and tip, I don't know what is. KEEP A BORING REFRIDGERATOR  :lol3:

Best go and get back into it. Just because the weekend work all went up in smoke, that's no excuse not to do any more today.

miriam101 06-29-2009 12:51 AM

Day 6 on the fruit completed - today will make 7.

Also - I've kept to the Vitamins (that was my previous successful challenge - B12 & D) so I'm happy about that.

Welcome Platinum!

Shad - like your comment on the boring fridge, LOL

Michelle - ain't you doing great! how's the weight loss working while staying in you calorie range?

Red - do you have the option of going riding whenever you want? Good to see your determination - you can do it!!

diyana 06-29-2009 08:08 AM

Miriam - Good for you on the fruit! As for your question, I've lost 6 lbs so far by doing my challenges - I'm continuing to eat veggies and do PT exercises and drink water...even though the "challenge" part is over.

Platinum - WELCOME!

Red - so Great to hear the determination in your posts!! YGG!

Shad - keep a boring fridge?! That does sound like the best advice EVER! Or if it can't be boring...at least be healthy.

Here are my weekend results:
Day 8 (Saturday) - Journal AND stay within calorie/point range - done No pauses taken

Day 9 (Sunday) - Journal AND stay within calorie/point range - done (BARELY....I used A LOT of weekly flex points!!) No pauses taken

redballoon 06-29-2009 11:50 PM

Well, I'm letting the booze and cigs challenge fall a bit. I just don't feel like restricting myself with a challenge. I want the freedom of choice now, for better for worse. It doesn't mean I'm smoking or drink but I may be.
I just need my freedom now. The sugar cut and caffeine cut are going well and that's about all the restrictions I want to place on myself right now. I'm pretty tired of restrictions, self-imposed or otherwise.
I may start some other challenges, that center around adding things to my days, things that will help me stay on a path of health and yet enjoyment.
I will say I'm doing well on the sugar and caffeine challenges. Knowing I have the choice is working for now. I know that at times I have to take the choice away but knowing I will take it away if I abuse it when I have it is making me stick to the challenges. Sound like a kid, don't I? Whatever works, eh?

Minimal Sugar 8 completed 0 pauses taken
Caffeine Cut Day 11 completed 0 pauses taken

**************

diyana -- You're doing so well and on such important challenges too. I wish I had the resolve to keep the food and drink down to a point where I can actually lose weight. I am stuck in a rut, it seems.

miriam -- Good going with the fruit. I have gotten so bad with my eating that I am not even eating healthy stuff really. I may have to start up a fruit or veggie challenge myself. Riding? No, I can't go whenever I want. I have to work it around work. The stable is a good two hours' away. Last time I said "back on the horse" I meant it figuratively, meaning I was getting back on the challenges. Actually, though, yesterday I did get thrown and DID get back on, literally! :lol3:

Shad -- You're doing marvelously as well! Wow! How do you people do it?

Platinum -- I don't know much about helping adrenal fatigue other than just cutting back on caffeine and trying to lessen the stress in my life. Two years is what they give as a healing time for severe fatigue. Of course, you're feeling better progressively. The first few months though (I got off caffeine before) you are really tired because the body can't regulate your energy and of course you aren't hitting it with caffeine anymore. But, slowly it starts to work again and you will feel progressively better. Sugar has an extreme draining effect on the body. Cutting that out or down drastically is VERY important. When I went nearly off caffeine I also cut out every bit of sugar for a year. I had no ups and downs of energy, no pms and my skin was amazing. People would remark on it constantly. Good luck. Wish you could come in here more than once a week. Where are you, out in the boonies somewhere with no electricity or do you not have access to a computer? :?: In any case, welcome! :welcome:
