  • Good Morning Ladies.......

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, back to work I go.....streets weren't too awful bad. Made my 22 minute commute in about 35 minutes.....not bad at all. Did stop at Starbucks and got an expenisive cup of pumpkin spice latte. Thought I deserved it after 3 hours of shoveling yesterday and back ache today. I don't treat myself hardly ever. I usually drink the 99 cent Speedway Gas station coffee, which is pretty good.

Today has already been a nightmare at work. Reports are behind. Our vendor for enrollment arrived an hour early, right at 8:00 am, room was not set up...so on and so on.....Everything under control now, and I am taking a break to type this.

Ceejay...please stay in and take care of yourself, or at least go see a doctor.

Shad...please send warm temps and humidity up this way. Tomorrow's high here is 15. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

    Happy....have fun with the "de-niggling".

Michelle...are you keeping warm up there?

    Hello to everyone....

    Love and Hugs
  • Just heard on the news this morning that President Obama is sending Arkansas federal aid and Fema will be here soon to help get the power back up and running. My town is extremely lucky. We did lose some power in different sections of town but our electirc crew is awesome. They won't stop until the power is back. Yes we got hit with the ice but nothing like Paragould or Jonesboro. I called my uncle to check on them this morning but the anwering machine picked up. I'm hoping they went to one of the shelters. I may call my aunt's cell phone a little later. My uncle wanted an Amish fireplace so I've been looking on line. They are electric so that would not help in a situation like this. A wood stove or regular fireplace is what they need. I'm not sure why the previous owners didn't put in a fireplace since it is in a rural area.

I've been doing like Happy and doing the 15 minute pick up per day. It really helps. You'd think that a single person wouldn't have these problems. Today I'm cleaning the kitchen and bathroom.

The one thing I want to get is a gas grill.

My cough is a little better today but I have another sore throat. I'm hoping it's from all the coughing I've done the past few days. I used my Neti Pot last night. My sinuses are more clear but still have way to much drainage.

Every one have a good day and stay warm.
  • Morning all,
Sounds like we are all being very busy at the moment. 15 minutes of cleaning can achieve an awful lot. It's very surprising.
Yesterday was a bit of a down day for me. I did start some work, but sat in a chair to drink coffee at around 9.30am and woke up around 11.00am. Don't know what went wrong there but the day went to **** in a handcart from then on. Got a call to tell me my contact lenses were ready. Went down to pick them up only to find that there was on 3 months supply and not 6. Pooh bar. Then I went up to the bbq shop to complain about the non-delivery of my goods. I'm promised them for this morning. I won't hold my breath, but I will be asking for my money back if they do not arrive today.

Usual manner of horror stories on the news this morning. Apart from the state of the economy that is. Some father threw his daughter off a bridge and she is dead, fire in the hills of Victoria and South Australia, heatwaves in Melbourne and Adelaide and the power is going off and on, etc.etc.etc. None of it good. I get nervous everytime the news comes on these days.

Annie - pumpkin spice latte sounds good. Might have to join you - aaah that's right no Starbucks around here. All gone, closed up.

Ceejay - doesn't seem to matter how many people are in the house, the stuff just jumps out and sits in front of your face no matter how tidy you are. I'm constantly picking up and putting down or throwing out. Hope the powers that be get things working again for you in Arkansas.

Happy - picking up the stuff and putting it away. It would be so good to have some elf come and do it for us wouldn't it.

So today, I have the same stuff to do as I did yesterday. It is still showery but the fine periods are increasing, so it will be hot and humid some more today. Better go get on with it while it is still relatively cool.
Had an email from Mel who is feeling somewhat better at the moment. She says the pain has lessened, the face looks less like 'ground beef' and the eyes are improving.

Okay - coffee, breakfast, then housework. See you all later.
  • hello ladies -

I'm exhausted. I'm so glad there's only 1 more work day left to go this week. I'm planning on going to the gym to do a strength training class this evening. I went for a walk at lunch, and I think that because it was 24 degrees (which is much warmer than it's been) and snowing, it caused my back to spasm. I'm doing better now, or I wouldn't even consider going to the gym.

Annie - Glad you made it to work okay. I hope your back feels better. Shoveling is rough work!

Ceejay - I hope you're feeling better today. Stay warm.

Shad - Please send some warmth our way, okay? I heard about the father throwing his daughter off a bridge. I guess there are crazies all over the world. I'll take your advice this weekend and do some housework (on Sunday before the Super Bowl).

Happy - I hope you're feeling better and that your day has gone well.

    A big to everyone!

    Love and hugs,
  • Okay, ladies, I'm home now. And I'm not going to the gym. I don't feel that good....tummy is queasy, and my back is hurting, and it's not even that TOM. Go figure!

Anyway, I'm gonna get off the 'puter and go do a Yoga DVD.

Talk to you chicks tomorrow. Have a good evening/afternoon or whatever it is where you are.

    Love and hugs,
  • Hey there peeps,

Looks like we have a foggy morning out there. I guess there is a warm front coming for the weekend, then we might get snow again Sunday night. No wonder everyone is sick or feeling poorly with this see-saw weather.

Michelle - sorry to hear you are feeling poorly again. I too had an upset tummy when I got home from work. I had a bagel and tea for supper. Maybe yesterday was national Upset Tummy Day. Hope you feel better today Take care of that back too Missy. A warm soak in the tub if you can't get to the jacuzzi at the gym. I sometimes wonder too if we walk with a stiff gait - even unconsciously - in the winter because of the slippery surfaces. That stiffening makes us more prone to muscle pulls. I think winter needs to be over tomorrow

Shad - did you get the patio furniture? I know what you mean about about the news being a downer. I mostly get my news from the internet unless there's a teaser story in the evening that gets my attention. And you don't have to have alot of formal education to see that there are rippling effects finally from all the greed and excess that have been going on in the world the last 20 years or so. I can only hope that we are in for a positive turn around. As for me, I keep dwelling on the story of a poor little girl who was kidnapped, raped, stuffed in a garbage bag and buried alive where she eventually suffocated and died. I can't even imagine the horror and fright of that poor little angel. Her attacker is on trial right now - no punishment he will face will come even close to what he inflicted on that baby. People are getting nuts. There's a story this morning about a woman who gave birth to a litter of octuplets 9 weeks premature. This unidentified woman who is described as quite young was taking fertility drugs. AND she has 6 kids already!!!! Now she has 14. And she lives with her parents. Sounds like some mad science experiment to me.

Cripes, I got on that soapbox fast, didn't I?

Shad - there might be an elf in my house picking things up but it's being followed by a small gnome who comes right behind dropping new stuff about Thank you for the update on Mel. I always cringe when I hear hamburger face - can only imagine how badly she must feel. Sending her some love I hope something comes through soon on the job front for you. I would send you a bag of the pumpkin spice coffee but our countries seem to be so fussy when it comes to exchanging food goods via the mail. It is good coffee, I think you'd enjoy a cup.

Ceejay - I think it's good that you have alot of drainage - as long as it's coming out. Do you like the neti pot? Was it hard to get used to? I'm glad you are on the fringes of the ice storm, it looks like it was really bad and it's going to take so long to restore power in the areas. That is the worst of it with it being cold. In the summer I think you can do ok without a/c but my house is cold and drafty and I'm not sure how long we could stay here if we lost power as the place would chill up fast, even with the fireplace. Having a gas grill is a handy thing for emergencies - or a camping cook stove too.

Annie - hope today is less hectic than yesterday. At least it's Friday and you have 2 days to recoup. The winter seems to be dragging out, isn't it?

Was talking to one of my coworkers yesterday. He's got the "dishwasher" washing drawers that you do Shad. Needed a part to get one fixed. I guess they are made in NZ. Foster & Something - I recognized the name but can't remember it. Was surprised they have them here. Of course he lives in an ultra fancy home so maybe that's got something to do with it

Time to get a move on. Hugs to all the chicks
  • Oh and I had a good weigh in yesterday - down one and a half pounds. I wanted more but I have to remember to be patient as quick losses always seem to rebound on me.
  • Yay, Happy! Congrats on the 1.5 lb weight loss! Any weight loss is good weight loss! YGG!
  • Good morning ladies -

I'm so glad it's Friday! TGIF! Both my back and my tummy are feeling better this morning than they did last night. I did a yoga DVD and had a light supper.

Happy - Congrats again on the weight loss! I hadn't thought about it before you mentioned it, but I'll bet we do walk with a stiffer gait in the winter. And the stiffer gait leads to muscle pain. I would love for winter to be over tomorrow. The economy is getting scarier. I've been trying to stay positive and optimistic, but every day there's news of more layoffs. Hopefully my company isn't heading down that road. Why the heck would a young woman with 6 kids who lives with her parents be taking fertility drugs! That's insane!

    Ceejay - I hope you're feeling a little better.

Annie - Have a great Friday! Do you have any fun weekend plans?

Shad - Sounds like now you have the house and garden looking lovely! Stay cool!

A big to all you wonderful chicks!

    Love and hugs,
  • Morning all,
Lovely Saturday here. Sky is blue, grass is green. Bloody stuff looks like it needs cutting again. The furniture arrived yesterday. Sometimes all it takes is one unhappy woman pointing out the fact that the company has my money, I have a empty space where some furniture should be and perhaps I should try getting my money back and trying someplace which does deliver.

We heard the news of that woman with the octuplets too. We got few details as the family wished 'privacy'. Oh yeah right. Run that past me again? The words 'octuplets' and 'privacy' do not fit together in the same sentence and a great deal of the family income will now come from those same 'octuplets' Actually they thought there were only seven. At least these eight will all have the same father. I wonder if the same can be said for the previous six??? Oh dear, Happy moved over on the and I moved in.
The news is as always depressing. 11 homes destroyed by fire in Victoria, Aus. Mr Obama is condemning somebody (it's disgraceful) for something I have not caught yet - what not another executive with his hand out for bonus'!!!. Britain and most of Europe are officially in recession thanks to the stock market crash etc. Some idiot in Melbourne threw his daughter off the Westgate Bridge in some sort of tantrum. Power blackouts across the south of the country due to extreme weather conditions. I could go on but I'm sure you all get the picture.

Michelle - sure glad to hear that you are feeling better today. Keep it going. Do not go back to the gym until you are absolutely sure you are ready. I swear that place is as good as the office to pick up bugs and germs.

Happy - well done on the weight loss. Good one. Haven't heard the little girl in the garbage bag yet, but I'm sure we will do soon. No point in bringing in good news - it might bolster the mood of the people.
I daresay Starbucks here has the pumpkin spice coffee but there isn't one near me anymore. A lot of them closed last year. I think the nearest one is in the centre of the city now. And you know how often I go in there.
'Fisher and Paykel' (pronounced Pie kle (like pickle only pie) if you are a Kiwi and Pay Kel if you are an Aus) is created in NZ and manufactured in NZ and Brisbane right now. I think they are sending the manufacturing side to Thailand which will be a sad day for all. Most of us F&P fans wrote to the company CEO and said that if that happens we have now purchased our last F&P product. I haven't heard much about it since. I should go find out although I haven't got a need for anymore appliances at this moment. My oven, cooktop, dishwasher, washing machine are all F&P. My next fridge would have been one as well, but maybe not now. I do hope your friend gets his part in double quick time. If he has a problem, let me know and I'll see if I can get one sent to him double quick from this end.

I had a call from a recruiter. I had applied to an advertisement on Seek.com for a job. This clot rung me up and said he had my cv and wanted to check on a few things. Fine by me.
    Was I a PM trainer?
    Me: Ummm yes.
Rec: Have I ever done WM?
    Me: umm er yes.
Rec: Do I ever train FICO?
Me: Ummm, did you actually read and understand my cv? It was my cv you read wasn't it? Go to the first job on the list of past employment. Who is it?
    Rec: XXX company.
Me: Yes that's right, at least you have the right cv. What subjects did I train?
Rec: ummm PM, MM, Inventory control, basic SAP.
Me: Right, well done. Now what does PM stand for? What is MM? Do you actually know anything about SAP at all?
What do I do to attract these idiots?????? Don't answer that one ladies.

I'm off to carry on the good work despite the rain, the state of the economy, the weather, the idiots and every other thing out there that gets up my nose.
  • Shad you totally crack me up with the recruiters. Sounds like YOU DO NEED a pumpkin spice latte.

    Feel better girls....Ceejay, Michelle.

Happy....Great job on the lbs lost...rock on sista.

Tony is coming over tonight, don't know what is on the agenda. Baby boy is coming home for a visit this weekend. That is wonderful. Baby girl is coming home this weekend too. Too much excitement for this old broad.

Work was hectic today. I need to work overtime, but they refuse to let us. They say just start in where you left off. Looks like job security to me....

Will try to get back this weekend.

    Much love and hugs.
  • Shad - you're impersonation of recruiters is right on! And it's not just you. I've had recruiters before that were just like the ones you are getting. Fisher & Paykel? I have a CPAP machine (for sleep apnea) that's a Fisher & Paykel.

Annie - have a great time with Tony! And enjoy the weekend with the kids!

I'm going to be way busy going to a Pet Expo tomorrow, and then housecleaning and Super Bowl on Sunday. But I'll try to check back in.

I hope everyone has exactly the kind of weekend they want to have (fun, relaxing, whatever).

    Love and hugs,
  • Aaah yes, I did forget they design and manufacture medical equipment as well.
  • I'm typing by candle light and hope that the laptop does poop out. Right now it'son a 100% but that willl not last long. We lost power this afternoon at 3 p.m. At least it's not 15 degree's.

The doctor's office was open today so I made it there and got another injection of penicillin. He's blaming my age as to this stuff lingering. My throat is still red. I almost had a heart attack on the scale. It read 174 and I had on shoes and a sweat shirt. That's a 12 pound loss since 2 weeks ago. I knew I had not been eating alot but I also took the newer bp med that has a fluid pill in with it. The doctor took in Jonesboro took me off this one and put me on another one. I'm staying on this one. My bp was also123/74, the lowest it's been in awhile.

Fema is in Paragould and Jonesboro.

If I'm not online for a couple of days it means there's no power.
  • Looks like every one is sleeping in this morning.

I was told that Jonesboro has 90% power to customers. I know the ones that have power are happy. My power came back on at 10 p.m.

I talked to my niece via chat in Facebook. I'm loving this sight.

    Have a good day.
