Lindor don't get stressed about it all - you'll be OK once you move and get settled. When are you leaving?

Gen good to hear from you. Glad to see you in the festive spirit :D.

All good here. I'm too tired to write out what I've been eating, but yesterday was 1688 calories and 2.4L of water. I'm not expecting to lose much this week (if anything) because I feel like my body has decided to hang on to fluid (it suddenly became 37.5ºC here today, and we haven't had any hot weather until now). I have to say it was pretty hot at work.

Oh well. I'll see what the scales say tomorrow morning!

hi i lost 900 grams this week, however i know that "new fat is easier to shake than old fat... but still glad i am not the same or MORE

last week i probably thought that i would start stuff today being monday even though i hate that mind frame and usually think just do it NOW but either way nothing new is going to happen today i am just going to keep watching what i am eating, i dont think i have any shakes left but i know that most of my brekky choices are about the same calories anyway!

gotta go jemima is under the computer desk ho hum

7senuf 12-14-2008 04:51 PM

You got one of them to Kel. lol. I just chased Ebony out from under. She was trying to get the new kitty to play lego with her and all he wanted to do was hide in my wastepaper bin..... so you can guess what happened to the bin lol.

I ended up eating a nutty boost bar in bed while reading ripleys believe it or not book.

Had another cup of tea and only one glass water grrrr

7senuf 12-14-2008 05:01 PM

Oh, BTW. I rejoined calorie king. I really think 1240 calories is to little and am usually starving. So I began again with current weight and it gave me an extra 300 calories lol. Go figure. So today is the beginning of a brand new journey for me.

PerthChick 12-14-2008 05:47 PM

I dropped another 0.1kg this week - good grief! No point complaining about it though because at least I didn't gain anything.

This week I am going to stick with my goals and just keep on moving forward. I'm aiming for a healthy week where I stay within my calories, drink plenty of water and move enough to burn what I eat.

Amy put it behind you - it was just an off day.

Kel I don't understand what you're trying to achieve. What are your goals for the next week or two? Are you mixing shakes with food?

Vonni I agree that you aren't eating enough calories. As bizarre as it sounds you may need to eat more to lose weight.

LittleKiwi 12-14-2008 08:40 PM

Hello ladies, I'm back. Didya miss me?

I've been bad :(

I haven't been to the gym in over a week and I haven't been watching what I eat at all. As a result, I'm feeling fat and frumpy and sorry for myself

Just can't get the motivation to get back on track at the moment and I don't know why. Perhaps it's just that time of the year.

I needed to buy my lunch today but ended up eating some of the leftovers from my office Christmas party (which I couldn't go to) and that consisted of about 6 small potatoes with butter and a few scoops of salad.

Anyway, I've got my gym gear with me and I will go to the gym after work. Even if I just walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes, that's better than nothing and it might make me feel a bit better.

:twirly:

7senuf 12-14-2008 11:59 PM

Went to the Dr today for an ikky smear. lol. Anyhow, was a Dr I havent been to as a patient, but worked with her. She also did a physical and found my thyroid is enlarged and then re looked over my last blood results. My THS was in normal range, but low so they suggested retesting in 2-6 weeks. and I have to have an ultrasound done on tyroid. Funny but because if low it can start to be hyperthyroidism, yet that makes you LOSE weight. GO figure. She can't figure that bit out, thats why the ultrasound and another lot of bloods, but this time getting thyroid antibody bloods as well as just the function test.

Anyhow, boobs are good, no lumpy bits, pap hopefully clear (find out next week) and BP was good and get this
DOCTOR scales say TWO kilos lighter than mine.... woohoo lmao. Might call there every week hehee.

Naaaa, I'm using mine.

Julia I am looking into our gym with my daughter. either 450 a year + 50 joining and assessment feee. But we are paying the assessment fee and just going casual at 10 a visit, To make worth money for full year we have to go at least 3 times a week and I KNOW I won't be able to work that in with this hectic life.

Once a week to start and once a week big walk, once a week mowing and once a week on elliptical . Thats my goal for January.

Today I mowed the lawn for 30 minutes so that apparently burnt 200 calories woohoo so so far today I have 900 cal.

PS Ani Dr agreed to little calories and said if I stick to that I will burn out, so she is referring me to a dietician. FREE woohoo

vonni - i had a thyroidy thing once and it looked like the only thing i didnt get was the hyper thirodism bit (the bit that makes u lose weight rapidly) but everything else pointed to overactive thyroid but then in blood tests weeks after it had corrected itself so that was good but left me with the "what is wrong then " thought

i dont even know why jem was under the desk - perhaps she wanted my attention hehehehe

amy - you eat interesting meals, i love reading what everyone ate it makes me think harder when i open the cupboard

ani - yep was mixing shakes and meals but only have one left so trying to drink lots of water and eat "sensible"

working hard at getting organised and taking my medication and talking and taking time out with jemima - the shifts i work mean i have to be organised or i will be late too much so i got to and i think it will make my mind feel better too

LittleKiwi 12-15-2008 03:11 PM

Well I made it to the gym last night and did weights followed by an aerobics class. It was hard work but I got through it!

Goal for today is to get to the gym after work tonight.

:twirly:

PerthChick 12-15-2008 04:45 PM

One more day to work and then I have my two days off - yay!

I'm feeling some kind of urge to do some exercise - not sure what that's about because on most days I come home from work too tired to do anything. But I'm not happy with my level of fitness or my toning, so I want to add something else in to my day. I'll ponder…

This week is going to be a challenge. I'm a bit annoyed that after three weeks of doing everything right I have only lost 0.2kg in that time. Maybe I have hit a real plateau and just need to ride it out - I suspect that's what it is.

Yesterday I was naughty and only drank 1.2L of water, so the plan for today is to drink at least 2L and to eat well.

Julia welcome back! I missed you, and I'm glad to see you're hitting the gym - especially when you least feel like it.

pacman12 12-15-2008 06:33 PM

Got my grades for the first semester of NP: 1 A+ and 2 A's. I am a little bit disappointed because the one big credit class, I was 1 POINT (less than 0.5%) off an A+ - bummer!

I did get 100% in one class, so that rocks! The other 2 classes were a 96% (patho) and a 92% (stats).

barbegirl71 12-15-2008 07:45 PM

You should be so proud of yourself Gen, congratulations on achieving such high grades. I've just completed a college course (cert III in financial services {accounts clerical}). I'm proud of myself for actually going out and doing something for myself, by myself! I managed to complete a 20 week full time course in 13 weeks going in 2 half days a week. Not bad!

I was reading way back there among all the posts, someone (maybe Ani) said they spend all week undoing the damage they do. This is me. I spend the week eating really well and watching everything that goes into my mouth, only to give in and really go nuts on the weekends. I have no idea where all my resolve goes on the weekends. My meals are good but I tend to make really bad choices for snacks. And I drink WAY too much. This has got to change for me to really get anywhere with this weight loss.

pacman12 12-15-2008 08:41 PM

Thanks Barb!!

smylie 12-16-2008 12:25 AM

gen - those marks are great!!! are you listening to yourself being disappointed between the slight difference between a a and a a+ that is amazing! you go girl!!!!!

7senuf 12-16-2008 01:40 AM

PerthChick 12-16-2008 04:29 PM

Onya Gen - I'm very proud of you :carrot:. Your comments about disappointment reminded me of how I would come home from school with results in the 90's, and my mum would say: "Where's the other 6%?". I know now that she was proud of what I did, but I'm sure it helped foster my 'all or nothing' approach to life.

An approach I had to learn to change in order to lose weight.

Barb it was me who said that, and it's why I have been aiming for a more consistent approach lately.

I'm not having such a good week this week. I'm frustrated that I'm not losing much, and am eating a little too much these past couple of days. Really need to snap out of it - today - because I don't want to end 2008 above 73kg… not after all the work I have done this year!

LittleKiwi 12-16-2008 04:44 PM

Gongrats Gen on getting such great grades :cp: that's an awesome effort!

I'm really out of whack at the moment. Just not interested in exercising AT ALL. Didn't make it to the gym yesterday as I caught up with a friend who's on holiday here from Scotland and I'm not feeling very optimistic about getting to the gym today either.

Just can't be bothered!

Bah humbug.

7senuf 12-16-2008 04:48 PM

Wow Ani I just had a look at yr ticker and you are on fire girl. So proud of you

7senuf 12-16-2008 04:49 PM

:cp: haha here's your clap.

pacman12 12-16-2008 07:08 PM

Funny Ani - my mum said:

"Good on you - we think you are very clever, taking up study over there, and doing so well. The results are excellent, you have every reason to be proud of yourself - stop arguing with your inner professor who seems to think anything less than 100% is less than acceptable."

Hah.. I recall the psychologist talking about "all or nothing", "black or white" thinking... it's something I've always done. I do the same with weight loss.. I go nuts or do nothing!

smylie 12-17-2008 07:09 AM

is all or nothing "bad" i definately have that

pacman12 12-17-2008 03:26 PM

It's very self-defeating. When you don't reach your "all or nothing" goal, you tend to give up entirely. Setting small, achievable goals with a reasonable time frame is much more productive.

LittleKiwi 12-17-2008 03:56 PM

Sounds like some very wise words from your Mum Gen!

Work is so quiet at the moment and this week is passing painfully slowly. Yesterday I took the afternoon off and took myself out on a "date". I went for lunch by myself at one of my favourite Thai restaurants then went for an hour long full body aromatherapy massage.

Bliss!

I think that one of my New Years Resolutions will be to do more of that sort of thing for myself.

:twirly:

Lindor 12-17-2008 05:07 PM

Jumped on the scales this morning...

...95.5kg!!!

Ugh!! I suck!!

Not surprised really given what I have been putting in my gob though!!!

I refuse (REFUSE!!!) to see 96kg!

Gen great results!! And, although I am also an all or nothing person, getting top marks for everything, all the time, will make life really boring and monotonous! Right now you still have the challenge of bettering yourself if you feel you need/want too!

Gotta get to work!

Oh yeah...good to see you back on board Julia! I was wondering where you were!

PerthChick 12-17-2008 06:20 PM

Julia I wish my work was quiet - it's absolutely insane at Bunnings at the moment, and I don't imagine it will get much better until the other side of Christmas :dizzy:.

Lindor surely some of that has to be water weight doesn't it? Don't beat yourself up - you're about to go through some major life changes, and that always makes weight loss more challenging.

Kel I agree with Gen. "All or nothing" is the worst way you can approach weight loss. I have been an "all or nothing" person all my life, but I have learned to control that - and to find a much better balance in my life.

I need a kick up the bum! Have had a bad few days with food - totally unprepared for the fact that when you work with other people they give you endless amounts of food when the Christmas spirit moves them. And I wasn't ready for it.

Oh well, another lesson to learn…

pacman12 12-18-2008 10:21 AM

It's funny, when I started the whole lifestyle change thing, it was Xmas time. I figured if I could cope with that, I could cope with anything, and it was fine. Now look forward 2 years and I'm a massive fatty again!

I have eaten better this week - grilled chicken and steamed veggies for dinner a few nights, salads for lunch. My friend is planning to join my gym, so maybe we can start going together.

It's quiet at my work as well - only 1 patient inhouse! Since there are 5-6 of us engineers, I took the afternoon off yesterday as well as today. Going to get some shopping done (at least I don't have to buy presents for many people over here!), do the laundry and clean the house.

amouse 12-18-2008 05:42 PM

Amy my body feels so much better when I eat unprocessed, healthy food - so I know what you mean. And way to go! You have achieved so much this year - SO much - and I think you'll really see the changes in 2009.

Just in the last couple of weeks I have sensed an enormous change in myself. I can't really describe it but I feel more peaceful, I'm having more fun. Even though my weight loss seems to have really slowed down, the other changes and benefits are really beginning to show.

I've put a keyboard on layby - too exciting! I grew up playing piano and I really miss it. I never dreamed of being able to afford one, but here I am with only a few payments to go and I'll have my own keyboard - cannot wait.

Unwrapping all these layers of fat, sadness, despair, self-loathing and that terrible feeling of being trapped in my own unhealthy body… it's leaving me! What an amazing gift I am giving myself. More energy, more possibilities, impossible dreams coming true - I never imagined that losing weight would be this significant. I never thought it would give me a whole new life.

But it has!

pacman12 12-18-2008 08:51 PM

Now you just need a new chick!

PerthChick 12-19-2008 05:07 AM

Gen :p. Don't scare me!

Although sometimes it would be nice…

smylie 12-19-2008 08:28 AM

yes all or nothing is self defeating you are right

i just found a forum that helps you declutter your house/world and it is baby steps and when you put all the baby steps together you have a well oiled machine
so i am going to join and give it a go
i think i definately need to be more organised in order to lose weight, i need to know what food i have in the house i need to know what i am doing and how long i have to cook dinner and who will be eating with me etc
i need meal plans and stuff like that

it is all coming together

oh
not happy jan
it is that time of the month!
my 3rd in 3 years so i should not complain but honestly as if i need anything else to think about - the minipill and breastfeeding was keeping it away sigh

gotta go got to work again tomorrow and only finished at 9.15 tonight ho hum

everyone is going really well considering it is the silly season... no body seems to have gone silly

julia while you can DEFINATELY make more time to take yourself out.... that is actually a great idea i think i will do that next year when i have maybe mondays to myself (until 5 when i work) or thursdays after work if i am then not volunteering at the opshop i think i will take myself to lunch and make it somewhere NICE not maccas....

PerthChick 12-19-2008 04:04 PM

I'm going to aim for a 'perfect weekend' with my goals. I'm working 9-5pm both days and I expect we are going to be really busy, so I need some discipline and commitment.

I have all my meals planned for today, and I think they are reasonably balanced. I just have to find the discipline to give away all the free chocolate that is being handed out to me at work :D.

My housemate moves out on Christmas Eve. She's off to NSW on the Indian Pacific, and I'll have my solitude back - yay! It has been good having someone here for a month, and has taken some of the financial pressure off me, but I don't know that I would cope with it on a full-time basis.

Anyway, better get ready for work. I hope you all have a great weekend.

smylie 12-20-2008 02:46 AM

ani
if i want a kick arse vege garden by jemima's birthday feb 17 should i plant some seedlings now beside my established vege plants? so when these ones are "over" i have a new batch ready and bearing?
you should see my cucumbers they are going off!!

7senuf 12-20-2008 03:39 PM

plant plant plant away Kel. And I'm hearing ya about finishing then starting. I finished work 9.30 Friday night then started again on Saturday at 7.45 finished at 6.30. What a day. BUT for the second Sat in a row I had no dramas with customers woohoo. Oh yeah, while I wa on my ,unch break the girl coverin me did have a woman reach over counter to grab phone for manager. she was pissed about something.... glad I missed it, I would have rapped her over the knuckles with the handpiece lol.

Havent typed in my food to cal king for a few days. Sitting down later to do it, i can remember everything. All in all, I havent been that bad. Tho last night i did have 3 shortbread bikkies and 2 squares of choc. ONLY TWO WOOHOO. Usually I would eat 2 rows (the huge blocks and theres 8 squares a row).

George is visiting me to Kel grrrr and I have a head cold so feeling pretty crappy. WIll try drinking more water to keep hydrated today.

Ani, Gens right.. new chick. But then, do you have time for that right now? Or want to be in a better headspace, tho you seem to be pretty damn good at the moment. You know what you want and are going after it. Good on you. What sort of keyboard are you getting? What sort of music do you like to play?

7senuf 12-21-2008 07:11 AM
