Good Afternoon, Flowers! It's another cool sunny day in my corner of the world. The car was back in the shop again today. On the way home Sunday, the navigation system played havoc with the radio. We couldn't turn it off nor could we change stations. We stopped on the way and turned the car off and when Bob started it again the map disc error message was on the same screen as the radio stuff. Bob has said all along it isn't the disc but the machine that doesn't work right. Of course the garage "fixed" it again and we are to watch it. General Motors won't replace the unit itself without lots of dates, times, locations, and whatever that it didn't work. How about not working since June 12th or maybe before that even???????

Thank you for the anniversary wishes! It seems like yesterday in many ways.

Gail -- I hope you have good luck with your tooth. I know exactly what you are going through and it is no fun. I'm glad you and your granddaughter had a good day together. Isn't that just the way it goes -- you think it will be good and it's not, anticipate the worst and then pleasantly surprised.

"Gma" -- That is too bad Jack had to go back to work in the rain. It sounds like the powers-to-be didn't know which hand was doing what when. Our furnace man told us to run our furnace fan constantly, especially with the air in the summer, so that our upstairs would be cooler. I can tell the difference in our room. I like sleeping cooler in the winter so don't usually run it then. We also have ceiling fans which help to circulate the air. Keep in mind that turning 55 is better than the alternative! It really doesn't hurt!

Maggie -- So many kids have so much baggage in their lives that it is amazing they function as well as they do. Some just seem to roll with the circumstances and come out fine while others aren't so lucky. I'm not much into politics, but I do think this will be an interesting election. I did enjoy the speeches last night.

I need to dream up something for supper tonight. I never feel like planning ahead in the morning and I really need to do that. Have a relaxing evening and a FANTASTIC Friday tomorrow!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning to everyone! Hope your day is starting out well. At least we are dry here for now anyway!

I got my knitting needles so am starting the last little hat today. I will be anxious to get it done and get them ready to send to her.

I imagine I will be getting clothing pulled, things we want to take, etc this weekend to start with packng for a week from now. We are leaving sort of middle of the night so we can be there early afternoon. Jack is taking comp time from the other night on Thursday so only has to work a couple hours. He can come home and we get things ready, take the dog to the pet hotel, go pick up the rental car and come home and get it packed, eat a little something and go to bed early so we can get up and on the road. It isn't Vegas, but at least we are getting away for a few days. I am looking forward to it as long as the Cubs start winnng again. They have lost 5 in a row, the most at a time this year and the last three are against the team we are going to see them play. Hopefully, they are rested up since they didn't play yesterday and can come out gangbusters today again.

We are going out to get haircuts tomorrow then run errands and get a few groceries. I am not going to the commissary until we get back from Houston, just rounding out what we have here at home for the time being. We always buy snacks like crackers, drinks and such to take with us so we need to do that. Time to color the hair again so I guess I will get hair dye too. Next week it is manicure and pedicure time, cut off mail, stuff like that. I imagine I will do that on Wednesday.

Maggie: Enjoy your new phone. I use mine so infrequently that I just have an old standard. I don't really watch the convention stuff. I read some of what the people's platforms are, but they basically spout balogna to everyone for the most part and lots of hot air so I don't sit and listen. I have made up my mind anyway.

Jean: Won't be long and the cabin will be closed for the year, huh? Seems like summer just flew by. I don't mind being 55 or any other age, really. Just seems like the years are flying by too. You look back and realize almost 3/4 of your life has been lived already. I look forward to each day. I had to chuckle when I was at the grocery store a few days ago. There is a sweet black clerk about my age that I have sort of struck up a friendship with. We always talk when she is working as she mans the self checkouts. She had not seen me since my second surgery so she was talking to me about it. I was telling her Dr Wheat is gonna "cut me loose" next appt and she grinned and asked me if he was cute. I said, "Well, he is if you are lookin' at him through our eyes, a 20 something not so much!" I laugh whenever Jack sees the Cialis commercial where the older couple are sitting looking out at the sunset in twin old bathtubs holding hands. He thought that was THE most romantic picture so when he started having problems with ed because of the heart meds, he ask Dr Anderson his cardiologist for that brand. I told him not to expect me to get in one of those bathtubs as he would never be able to get me back out again! My favorite thing about being older is I feel more forthright about stuff. I like being able to voice an opinion and sometimes even be listened to by those who are younger. Not having kids to worry about at home all the time, going where we please and enjoying being together.

Well, to the chores I must go. Have a grand weekend ladies!

Good morning, ladies! I though I posted yesterday but it must have gone to cyberspace.

I had quilt bee last night, dinner before hand with some friends. Lots of fun.

Hanna will be calling on us between 12 and 2 tomorrow. Hopefully she will stay fast moving and get right on out. That is a really bad time to come - high tide is right around there. I've got to put my patio furniture in the garage and the trash cans in the shed so they don't blow away or into a window, and bring in some potted plants. I need to get some more water too. We're supposed to have 3 gallons on hand for each person. I'm more worried about Ike who is a category 4. He'll hit next week. The marinas are busy pulling boats out of the water. They are not sending the ships to sea for Hanna but will for Ike and the planes from the Armed Services will be moved to other bases. I'm going to the library and getting a good stack of books, tapes and CDs. I have lots of batteries so I'll be good to go.

The long and short is, if you don't hear from me for awhile, the power is out.

Hi everyone. I'm taking a break inbetween errands (eating lunch--Lean Cuisine pepperoni pizza cut up into 10 pieces).

Thanks Donna Faye for the remedies of the pain. Luckily, as long as I keep anything cold from that tooth I'm pretty much okay. Yesterday afternoon, I allowed some cold water to get that side of my mouth and I thought I was going to hit the roof. I ended up taking three (yes, 3) Advil, fell asleep reading The Shack (good book, btw), woke up and felt fine. What a mess your husband's work is! The assembly line at my husband's plant will be going down for two weeks starting Monday--however, Wayne is working those weeks.

Maggie, I, too, have been listening to all sides in this election year and I think this is one of the most interesting elections of all time! It seems the older I get the more things seem to go a little off-kilter with my body. Wayne told me this morning it is a good thing I don't work--I don't have to call in sick. I told him, the rate my body gets sick (sinus infections, back pains, mouth problems) no one would want to hire me!! BTW, I still wake up early in the morning--between 5:30 and 6:00am. I guess that's something still leftover from all those years of working.

Jean, I can't stand car problems. I despise going to the dealerships to take cars in to be fixed...when they should be working all along!! Wayne wants a GPS (a portable one) and I'm thinking of buying one of those for a Christmas present.

Susan, Hanna is supposed to be a quick moving storm. She is expected to go through my area after 2pm, into Saturday night, and Sunday morning.

Later...

Gail
