My bursitis is still bad so will keep this short. Here's some willpower for us all :dust: We're all due for a whoosh! Will catch up later.
|
I'm here I'm here!!! Lets get serious now girls and loss this dang wt and feel better than ever. Yesterday I was almost done with my posting and my computer shut me down some type of protected mode. Then lots of automatic protection stuff was entered on I noticed this a.m. My dear SIL said that he was going to have to ck out my computer as it was acting weird and might have a virus. Oh no!!! Not that! Well think it fixed it self thank goodness. So I am on and ready to move.
Camping was awesome with the kids. Busy not to much time for relaxing with 3 energetic kids 8, 9 and soon to be 12. But it was fun and they were great helpers. The 8 year old wrote a note on my white board on the ref. after we returned Grandma I love to cuck with you its fun. She helped make pancakes and oh yeah thats cook I told her like book. So quick learning tip in the mix of it. They were able to swim I just walked in the water. So extra exercise this weekend with walking. That was nice. Next year they asked to go for a week and I said sure why not. I will book us somewhere on the beach which is an actual lake but looks like an ocean. They surely enjoyed playing in the sand. One of the younger gals at work said I am signing my kids up for you to be their grandma. But truly I do love it all. My 12 year old gs is turning into quite a gentleman helping carry things and so polite its nice to see now a days... I did write in my last post about the doggie pictures how cool. Nice idea and you will forget how much it cost when you get to enjoy them so. Bear stayed home this weekend. We only went one day. He was bumbed out. Marie sounds like that scale is being used got to get in gear with mine. I have been better with my intakes. I did have a bad donut yesterday to welcome the new director. But a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner. So all in all I think it was a good day. Busy only shook the new directors hand as it was 2 when she arrived in the office after her meetings. Said I am Carol and its nice to have you aboard and I am off and running to appointments this afternoon. I worked late last night and have a client in the hospital so I have to go there this a.m. to do an assesment to say how much support she needs while there. Busy day again. Penny sorry to hear about the foot. My SIL had swollen ankles when we were at the drs. and he said most likely from the bloodpressure meds. He also stated she was on a baby dose and maybe he would chg. that next time around. I told my friend who has swollen ankles and foot issues maybe its her med. their on the same dang thing. Crazy huh? We take meds to fix one issue they cause more issues yeah wonder if its worth it . SIL has kidney diseas caused from meds. Man its not good. Auntie g see you are even making wise choices when your being naughty... So you think naughty to me is a banana split which I should have for a dinner some night before the little ice cream stand is closed. Now that is naughty!! My kids in HI got a webcam so soon when we all figure out how to use them we will beable to communicate better. I am going to send them pictures from this weekend. Judy hope your work slows down a bit. YOUR always so busy too. You are most likely moving this weekend if so good luck with that. Haven't done that in 13 years but its a great way to have a fresh start and get rid of stuff. Hope your new home has room for you to exercise. I am gearing up to do something down stairs if my gym membership doesn't work out . Peace and quiet and no intruptions down there. My SIL said he has a DVD/VHS player for 70.00 through his work. So that would be nice to have an abs machine etc. At least in the winter it would be just me and that and the fireplace how cozy!! Gotta fly. Running late now. |
Good morning all! Another day on target, but I did have something I didn't have for a long time, and probably never will again. I used to buy those WW candies all the time, but it's probably been a year now, so I bought a bag. Well, they were not as good as I used to think they were, and I had a stomach ache most of the day after having a couple pieces. I'm thinking it must be the artificial sweetener or something else chemical. Nasty! So, today I'm going to stick with natural foods...
Judy, I've only ever had canned beets, and yes, they left a bit to be desired. I've never tried roasting "real" ones, but it sounds like it might be a good idea! I sure can relate to your chocolate fit - that's what led me to the nasty candy. Now I'm thinking that it would be better to just have a small amount of something good. Just can't bring it in the house, it has to be once and done, not sitting there calling out to me... Penny, hope that bursitis calms down soon! And yeah, it's time for a whoosh! Carol, sounds like camping was great fun! It's so cool, your grandkids will always remember that stuff! Good luck with the computer- it's so great you'll be able to see more of your family when they get the webcam going. Sometimes I resent technology, but sometimes it's so awesome, and that will definitely be awesome! Have a good day everybody! |
It's great everyone is back!!! I was worried there yesterday. ;)
Mr Scale is going to get it's butt kicked. There is no way eating 1500 cals a day, and exercising about an hour a day should be little to pathetic weigh loss. I also shouldn't have gained so much over the year since I certainly never evened splurged. So I started the long process of making a dr. appointment and I'm going to ask for every test known for no metabolism. I say long process as my Dr. left the clinic and I chose a new dr. and now she's leaving. I don't want to start with someone that is known to be leaving so I called the clinic to transfer to someone else. That's the long process part as they don't switch drs. A co-worker left that clinic because of a parting of tinking with his dr. and they wouldn't switch him to someone else. So we shall see. I'm supposed to get a call back later today. Oh, the person that officially handles requests like mine is out for 2 weeks so they're making due. :?: I wonder why I hate doctors... But I did make the first step. And Evil Scale was slightly nicer this morning. I also did the 50 minute aerobics again this morning. My heel is killing me and chocolate is calling my name. Bad combo... Auntie and Judy, it's funny that you both dislike canned beets. I HATE fresh beets. Hate, hate, hate. But I LOVE, love, love diced canned beets. How funny is that. I was reading both of your posts and laughing. Judy, good job on packing and leave the work this evening and pack some more. I'm sure the work will not disappear if you don't do it immediately (unless it truly is time sensitive and that I understand). Carol, sounds like you had a great little camping trip. It's great that you're able to do that. Penny, I hope you start feeling better. I hear Portland has been rainy (sunny down here so I'm not sure). Does that aggravate the bursitis? auntie, it's taken me a long time (about 47 years as that's my age) to learn that a small portion of perfect food is way more satisfying that a big quantity of yucky. Toss the WW candy out find a little piece of wonderful chocolate. BTW, you get Hungry Girl - do you use almond breeze? I just love that stuff. My mochas are so lo-cal. Yesterday I blended it with about a 1/2 c. of frozen strawberries and a couple equals - voila and incredible shake. Back to work and the irritating phone... Marie |
Wow, it's later than I thought and I have to run meet a friend for dinner and a play, so I'll just say that I did some stress eating--no, stress chowing down--last night. Today I've been okay, but only had time for a 20 minute workout this morning. I will have a hard two weeks ahead! The movers come Sept. 30, and then things will still be in a bit of an uproar for several days as I unpack and deal with minor hassles. My brain feels like the screen on Headline News, too many things going on at once.
I need to find time to read the success thread. I saw that momof4girls went from 230 to 150, and it would be great if I can see photos on her diet log. Gotta remember to breathe--judy |
Good evening... Average day, on track but no real exercise. I'm bumming tonight because one of our TVs bit the dust, and I have serious TV issues! Went out to try to pick up a new one and found out that they no longer have any of the old-school big, heavy, cheap ones:o, so we came home without one. Now I have to do some research. Oh, it's so sad! It's not like I have no TV, but on Thursday night I have to tape 3 different shows at the same time, and only have 2 functioning TVs with VCRs. I really should get a life, I suppose...
But in the meantime, I found this lovely picture of Marie, about to beat the scale into submission... http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...1616_scale.jpg Marie, sorry about that, but I couldn't resist! You're right, though, 1500 cals and so much exercise should absolutely be good enough! I hope you get your doc stuff sorted out fast. So, what do you do with those canned beets? Just eat 'em as they are, or put something on them? I can't say as I've tried to eat them in recent years, I just remember being less than thrilled about them when I was a kid. I do, however love canned peas and mushrooms, and am not at all fond of fresh. I guess there's no accounting for taste... And speaking of taste, the WW candy is outta here! I'll hold out for something better next time. I've never bought Almond Breeze, but maybe I should. When I was in shake mode, I used 8th Continent Light Chocolate soy milk, mixed with Breyer's Free vanilla ice cream - mmmmmmmmm, good stuff! Now it's getting cool enough that I'm not thinking about that for the time being. But just in case, how do you make your mochas? Judy, http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...IBREATHE-1.jpghttp://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...IBREATHE-1.jpghttp://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...IBREATHE-1.jpg Congrats on getting in 20 minutes in the midst of upheavel! Remember, this too, shall pass... Have a great Wednesday everyone! |
   Wow auntie, that is too funny. She's my new hero!!!! I chatted with an old co-worker for about an hour this afternoon about weight gain and no metabolism. He's going to a new dr. who didn't just blow him off. As I'm doctorless at the moment, I called his dr. They're taking new patients by application and I filled out the app and faxed it back. They said about a week. As I have double health insurance I'm thinking I have a good shot at having a new dr. So at least I'm trying. It would b one thing if I kept slipping up, but I haven't gone over 1500 cals since August 5th and I've not missed one day of exercise. 5.5 pounds sounds really odd. At least my friend's dr. ran a battery of tests to try and find out the reason he was nearly having the same problem and the dr. figured it out. I just want a dr. who would be thorough.
:coffee: Auntie, my mocha recipe... 8 oz unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze (40 cals) 1 t. fat free coffee-mate hazelnut (8 cals) 4 oz decaf expresso (I suppose that could swap for the naughty stuff) (2 cals) 1/2 t. diet powdered creamer (5 cals) 1 T. Unsweetened Cocoa (11 cals) Equal (I like 8 packets at 4 cals each total 32 cals) Splenda - YUCK - could be used I suppose but I hate the stuff 1 T. powered egg white (for protein, doesn't add taste but must be blended - I use a Magic Bullet) (21 cals) I heat the almond breeze and dash of coffeemate in the nukker wave for 2 minutes. I add everything but the expresso and whip in the Magic Bullet. Unsweetened cocoa can be a pain to mix in (as the egg whites) so the Bullet takes the problem away. Add the freshly brewed expresso and voila. In the summer I do iced. Total cals = 119 and 11.5 grams of protein (as I don't like meat much and pretty much don't like eggs, am deathly allergic to peanut butter I am always trying to find protein). It's the best protein "shake" on earth. :coffee: Judy, I agree - BREATH!!!!! Sorray about the chow down. You'll find your way back. I have faith in you. Marie |
OK Auntie, I printed out the picture on card stock and it's hanging above the scale. I just wanted it to know that I have ideas...
|
LOL! Sweeeeeet! And thanks for the recipe! I'll have to give that a try one of these days.
|
Just a quick note I am on the run this a.m. Yesterdays work day was crazy but I didn't over eat so that was the good part. Actually didn't eat enough breakfast stopped at the store for salad greens, went to grab a little bag of baked chips in the isle put them back grabbed peanuts and only had half the serving saving the others for another crazy day. Had fish for dinner, rice a bit higher in cals small portion of leftover mashed pot. and then went of to a jewelry party. Had just 2 crackers and some dip oh I did indulge in a tasty little bitty piece of fudge just had to try it way too sweet..... That was it so all and all could of been a stressful munch day but I kept it under control. Did some extra walking as I parked on the 3rd floor of the hospital to see a client. Oh that was my stress people need to realize some folks in this world are a bit different with the level of their needs. I can't even think of what happens when no one has support. Well by the time 2hrs was up and I left the hospital she was on her way for getting her meds. and extra staff from my company and a student nurse for the night. Hopefully she is only there til thurs. life will be easier and they find a reason for what happened to her very low b. pressure. Now seems fine. Dehydration could be the issue....
So the new director seems to be a bit layed back so far and eager to assist us with hopefully new computers etc. and she does worry about burn out so that might be good. I will have to jot down the recipe sounds lovely. Marie good idea with switching docs I would be interested in knowing how you make out if you feel like sharing down the road. Auntie g you are something else with your pictures cracked me up. I have to print it out and I am going to hang mine on the closet door where my scale lives.... Judy your a busy lady hang in there we will get through this week my week ends on thurs I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Penny hows the foot doing? Making any soaps yet I have gift requests for presents for christmas and i am all out for myself maybe will make some next week. |
Auntie G - I love your "scale slayer"! I may use it to scare mine into behaving as it's been very mean lately .
Marie - Thanks for the recipe - I'll have to try it. I love Almond milk. If your new doc gives you some good ideas you'll have to share! Judy - I hope your move went well. Carol - The extra walking will help with the work stress. I need to make some soaps too but will have to wait till my shoulder is better. I think it was a bit confusing about my latest ailment - it's actually bursitis in my shoulder, which makes typing quite painful. I do also have a bad foot (arthritic spurs) and arthritis just about all over, including my spine. Still, we keep on keeping on, don't we? As my motto says "quitting is not an option". On Friday my DH is off to Europe on a business trip and to visit family for a week. I'm so glad I'm not going! I'll have some "alone time" which is nice now and then. |
This is the craziest day yet this week. Instead of rushing home to pack more of my stuff, I'm still at the office (7:20 PM), waiting for my ex-boss to leave her office, give me the keys, credit card and other closing items, and finally leave already! I hope that her hubby arrives soon--he's driving her home with her personal effects. Today we took her out for a good-bye lunch, and so far things are still relaxed and pleasant. But if she doesn't get out of her soon, I'm going lose it...
Penny, I hope you enjoy your alone time! Dance around your house in your underwear, eat breakfast for lunch, and watch all the silly TV programs your heart desires! Carol, I hope that your client will be better soon. I am good about visiting friends in hospitals, but it would be hard for me to have a job where I had to spend a lot of time in them. Marie, I hadn't realized that you were so...well-endowed. I don't know what you have to complain about, if that picture does you justice. Except for the blue part, of course. Auntie G, you can only buy old-fashioned TVs at pawn shops, I think. I finally bought a 32-inch HDTV last year--my first new TV in many, many years--and I couldn't be happier. I know I've been nattering on for some time about moving, but the actual day is the end of the month (Tuesday), and I'm not at all ready. Last night I saw a play, and didn't get home until after 11. I may not get home tonight until 8:30 or later, depending upon when I can lock up the office. Sigh! judy |
Judy, here's hoping your ex-boss will go home soon so you can leave. 7:20 is way too late. I'd think she'd want to leave. I know I wouldn't loiter in a job where I really wasn't wanted. And yes, the blue does sometimes overshadow the endowment.
Penny, enjoy your "you" time. I'm really getting used to being a most of the time bachelorette. I think if DH goes back on day shift, I might be a little put out. I like not being accountable for anything. Call me a lazy blue slayer. Auntie and Carol, if you try it out, make sure you grab the right Almond Breeze "milk". There are several concoctions out there. You want the one that says "40 calories" on the front. It's Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla. There's an unsweetened chocolate for 45 cals but it tasted icky to me. But then as I ate an entire can of diced beets last night (and thought of you all), who accounts for tastes. BTW auntie, I just put about a 1/4 t. butter and lightly salted on my boiled canned DICED beets (I don't like the slices). Exercise good - the 50 minute workout again... Food on track even though I had a 630 subway pizza for lunch. I gave 1/4 to my co-worker in exchange for apples. And dinner won't be quite as many cals tonight. Work - I have made progress. I am no longer treading water or drowning. I'm swimming, getting work done. And since my pools too chilly to swim, it's the best I can do... Anyway, I've been doing a little simple scripting (programming scripts to run routine tasks) and that was rewarding. Time to pooper-scoop for my doggies. Then I think a quick bike ride in the guest room, then dinner. A good plan. Marie |
Judy where the heck did I miss your boss is on her way out. Good for you! Why would she stay until that late does she have a motive to do something wrong before she leaves? Wow thats crazy and secondly does she always stay that late? Kind of weird behavior for someone ending there career there.
Hopefully the next one will be the right one for the position. Today wasn't as crazy as yesterday and my gal got to go home to mend there. So that will be easier I hope for everyone and good for her to be in her home. I will stop in the afternoon to ck on her. Penny I love nights or a day by myself nice to have others but Judy is right have it your way for a bit what a nice break. But I would want to be in Europe. Marie where do you buy the almond breeze and is it like soy milk I am a bit confused. Just had a half of cup of ice cream. I do love those pyrex custard cups. Its a half cup and easy for me to have a treat fit it in and thats all your allowed. Today lots of stairs and walking here and there. Food was on plan for the day my ice cream a bit later than it should but oh well. Time for me to turn in. My last day of work is on thurs as I am off for a girls day in Canada friday. CC |
Yee hah! Found a new old fashioned TV today - they are very few and far between. Guess this will be the last heavy one we ever buy, but the deed is done and all is right with the TV world. I was light on points today because of the TV shopping, so that's good too!
Carol, you are one busy bee! Do you ever take a break? I'm sure the jewelry party was supposed to be fun, but to me, it's just another demand on my time - but maybe that's because my "circle" is always having some dang demonstration or other. I've had enough of them to last a while! Hope your new director works out! Ooooh Canada! I want to get there again some day. Never really spent much quality time there, but we've tried. The last time we drove up, as soon as we crossed the border our transmission died. We spent the whole day in a repair shop. They couldn't really fix it, just did something to get us home. Oh, what a day that was! Penny, "alone time" sure is a good thing, as long as it's not tooooo long. And I do love your "quitting is not an option" motto. That's really what it all boils down to. Keep on keeping on, indeed! Now, if you decide to beat your scale, be careful not to use the bad shoulder... Judy, I got my new TV at Target- they still had 2 whopping choices in the old style - woo hoo! Next time around we'll have to move up, but I'm glad we found one now, cause this was not in the budget! OK now, you're running out of time to pack - I think it's time to get serious! Good luck! Marie, I discovered a can of beets in my cabinet! I think I'll give them a try over the weekend. I vaguely remember buying them out of curiosity a while back. I read something about them changing the color of, um, an unmentionable... Guess I'll find out! :o So, are you done swimming for the season now, or do you heat up that pool? OK, have a good Thursday all! |
Hey whats all the talk about beets? Is it something we should all be having to increase our metabolism? If so I am all over it. I like pickled beets and of course once in awhile harvest beets but their high in cals. So fill me in so I can figure out whats up.
Auntie g yeah I am always a bit busier than I should be. Guess I have a problem with down time and relaxation don't no how to do it much but in the colder months I will. I have to get a few books for the winter months. I guess Oprah has a must read out there she has been talking about according to the SIL anyone know of her lastest books names? Well if so fill me in. I just had my oatmeal and coffee blk. and I am off to work. Little sinus thing going on hope I am not getting the virus everyone has had. Conference this afternoon. Oh did I tell yeah I am booking for a conference at Naigara Falls for 2 Days in November? I am pleased with that idea its a lovely hotel and right on the boarder of Canada. |
Morning everyone!!! Carol you made me laugh about the beets question. We were just discussing how we like them. Judy and auntie said they didn't like canned beets and that started me saying how I love diced canned beets but HATE fresh beets. I have no idea if they have any effect on the metabolism. It was just a tasty conversation. Enjoy your Canada day tomorrow.
Auntie, good job on finding a TV. Will it be a problem when the Feb 2009 digital thing goes into effect or do you have cable or satellite? BTW my beets haven't changed the color of anything and I ate the whole can 2 nights ago for dinner. Judy, I hope you got to go home last night. At least that chapters now closed. Penny, I hope the shoulder is doing better. I agree with auntie, don't use that shoulder when you beat up the scale. If you need a scale to practice with, perhaps you'd like to take a whack at mine. I did 4 miles WATP this morning (2 walking and 2 jogging), then did a 12 minute toning routine for arms, abs and legs/hips. Right on track with the food. Willpower isn't my problem - my metabolism is. :D I did work a little on my quilt and decided I didn't like one of the fabric colors with the others so I'll be at the quilting shop today to pick a new one. I suppose I should work. :( Marie |
Judy - That was a bummer waiting so long for your ex-boss to say "bye-bye". You have the patience of Job! Hopefully your work atmosphere will improve now.
Marie - You are doing so great with all the exercise, despite your sore foot. You are an inspiration for me to get up and move around! My shoulder is a bit better and I'll just use my left arm if I have to whack the scale! Auntie G - It's funny how you never see the "old" style TV's any more. How quickly technology changes! I'm glad you managed to find one and it should work fine with a converter box when they change over next year. Carol - I hope you have a fun time in Canada tomorrow. Your conference at Niagara Falls in November sounds like fun. We lived in Toronto for 2 years and visited the falls in winter and it was amazing. The falls were totally frozen and all the trees were covered in frozen spray which tinkled like wind chimes in the wind. It was very, very cold - so bundle up! I'm helping my DH get his stuff together for his trip to Switzerland tomorrow. Some friends from Denmark will be in town tonight, so I hope we won't have a late night. On the subject of scales, here is a picture I think we can all relate to: http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/3...scalevqrp9.gif |
Oh, accountability, just what I need.
Today started off not so good, but finding this forum has given me a bit of a boost. Hopefully the rest of the day will stay on track. 4:30AM 10 Weights workout. Yay, so far I've kept this up for almost a week (I'm trying to start/maintain a routine) (I know, an ungodly hour, but I'm a morning person and it's the only time where I can fit it in.) 8:00AM Breakfast at work. Big slip here. Started off okay with my whole grain mini bagel (really what a normal sized bagel used to look like before they got SuperSized) and some gooseberry jam - YUM! Was going to follow that with a bit of plain fatfree Greek yogurt with grapes mixed in, but I got sidetracked. Bought candy yesterday with a co-worker and decided to finish it off so it wouldn't be tempting anymore. Ate that (chocolate covered raisins and sour gummie bears) until I was full...and it's still there staring at me...ick. 1:00PM Lunch at work. Trying to stay on course. Co-workers went to Jimmy Johns (ridiculously fatty/caloric sandwiches). Woohoo! Did not succumb to temptation entirely...Went for the walk with them and ate my barszcz (Polish beet soup otherwise known as borscht. Homemade and pretty much fatfree) instead and had 1/4 of the co-worker's veggie sandwich. I was craving bread so I partially succumbed when I accepted her offer for 1/4 of her Jimmy Johns. 6:30 PM Dinner Plan: More barszcz and a whole wheat roll. Goal for today: Stop the madness and end the pig out downward spiral that's been going on lately. Have my dinner call it quits for the day. I've already had more than enough dessert (see Breakfast above). This forum is awesome! |
Happy Evening Everyone!!! TOMORROW IS FRIDAY!!!!
Sorry about the screaming but that just make sme so happy. The rest of my day went good. A friend/co-worker suggested we go out for lunch after a meeting we had at one of the schools. We went Mexican and I didn't even have to sit on my hands to stay away from the tortillas. My friends is carb consciense because of an illness so she didn't eat them either. I guess we could have asked for them to be taken away. Anyway, I ordered a fajita (chicken) quesadilla. I ate about 1/3 of the tortilla (it was one of the gigantic ones that are about 250 cals) then pulled all the meat (hmmm made 7 chicken chunks - they were cheap there) and all the yummy veges out. Most of the cheese stuck to the tortilla so calorie wise I did very good. I added about 200 extra cals to my log because it's darn amazing how restaurants can add extra cals to a perfectly healthy meal. I'm guess I had 450 calories. Penny, I just chortled out loud at that cartoon. They do make you want to cry. I kicked mine this morning and told it that it was a piece of junk. Then I apologized (yes to the evil scale) as it could be even meaner tomorrow. I think I'm taking my hatred of the dread box a little to personally. Did I ever mention I'm nuts????:D Penny, your description of the falls in the winter is magical. That would make the most awesome Christmas Card picture. paniania, welcome to this thread on this incredible forum. I hope you find your way back often. We love company!!!! I hope you meet your goal for the day. Back to being a bum this evening. I had to log onto DH's computer to do the financial stuff so I thought I'd wander back to 3FC. Penny's cartoon made my night! Maive |
Brrrr, it's cold and rainy tonight - guess it's getting to be soup season now. I've been so good today since tomorrow will be difficult. We'll be having pizza for dinner (which I would NEVER choose to do on the night before weigh in) and now also my BIL's b-day cake, which normally would be on the weekend. Oh, drat! The forces are building up against me! :faint:
The new TV does have a digital tuner (and we have cable, anyway), so the Feb switchover won't be a problem. The reason I'm calling it old fashioned is just cause it's the bulky kind, not the flat skinny kind. Carol, I don't watch Oprah much anymore, but these are the last couple books on her list (I think) - The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I don't know anything about the first one, but I read and liked the second one. Have fun in Canada! Marie, so I've been led astray about the beets powers of coloring, I guess. I'm really going to try to eat them over the weekend. Good job at the Mexican restaurant! I am so not ready to do things like that. I just don't even want to go out to eat if I can't have what I want. Immature, isn't it? Oh well, it's cheaper to stay home anyway! Penny, hope you're having fun with your friends from Denmark. Oh, my DH would love to go to Switzerland! That's where is great grandparents came from, and he's never really gotten to do any travelling. Some day... Excellent cartoon, btw! Paniania, hi and welcome! Another beet fan, huh? Good luck with your plan! Happy Friday all! |
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!
The morale in our office is an all time low - an office divided to say the least. I'm currently having lunch in my office, with the door shut. I have to be really irritated for that to happen. I'm claustrophobic but as I'm sitting in front of a window showing a bright sunny sky, it's not so bad. Mr Scale was nicer this morning. It does have it's moments. Maybe kicking it on Wednesday helped. :D Auntie, I hear you on rather not go out to eat if I can't have what I want. I don't like not knowing how it's prepared as restaurant dump fat grams into foods where they shouldn't be. Enjoy the pizza and weigh in on Sunday. No reason we both should detest our scale. I did a 50 minute workout this morning and it is getting harder. My heel is angry and I think I'm holding my foot in a weird position, and so now the high ankle is getting sore. Oh well, I can't quit or I'd lash at the people in my office. exercise keeps me on an even keel. Food is perfectly on track. It's amazing how I'm an angel or a  Balance would be good, but I know from history that if I tumble off the wagon, it takes me months to climb back on. So angelic I will stay. Marie |
Happy Saturday!
Well, my pizza got delayed until tonight, so that was a good thing. Had cake and ice cream :o for dinner, and decided to just weigh in today as usual. I'm down 1 lb, which I am grateful for, but dang! I think it's time for another whoosh week. So, I've called in the whoosh fairy for assistance. She is here to help us all... http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b.../whooshfae.gif Marie, I hope work is better next week. Have a peaceful weekend! Stay on that wagon http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...blog/angel.gif - I agree that it takes a long time to catch up to it after falling off! Time to hit the grocery store :dizzy:. Have a great weekend, all! |
Hi, ladies! My visits here will continue to be spotty for a few days, I'm afraid. The packing continues apace. The charity truck came yesterday to pick up furniture and boxes of stuff (Xmas decorations, etc.,) that I'm not taking to my new place. I'm sleeping on my airbed for a few nights. I will be so happy to get my new bedroom set on Wednesday!
Auntie, I'm pretty sure that the whoosh fairy won't be able to help me for a while! I'm tired, achy and sluggish, and my ears are still stuffed and popping. I made a dr appointment for next Friday, but if I need to go earlier I'll try to go. I really miss the walk-in non-emergency clinic that closed last year. Tuesday is the big day for the movers, and Wednesday I have deliveries and the cable guy. If I'm a whole lot worse before Friday, I'll find time to demand powerful drugs. Antihistamines aren't doing the job. I haven't needed antibiotics for a long time, but I can't have an ear infection when I start flying again the week after next. I've also been bad about logging my food, and too munchy in the evenings. I bought some dark chocolate kisses, thinking I could have four at night...big mistake! I sleep as late as I can, and I'm wired, whiny and exhausted in the evenings, so haven't worked out since Wednesday morning. The only thing keeping me from throwing in the towel is taking time every day to stop and breathe--ten minutes of mediation, a hot bath, etc. I will be packing up my computer tomorrow or Monday. So don't worry if you don't hear from me for several days. If I can pop in via BlackBerry, I will. Sometimes I can't, too many scripts or something. Ask Marie to explain it to you, she's our techie. I'll be eager to get back into my healthier rhythms, and you guys are such great support! |
Morning everyone. The evil scale was nice today. After a week at the same weight, I apparently dropped 1.2 pounds. So I looked at last Saturday's weight and I lost a pound. That's progress. Slow but at least there's progress. I went swimming after work. I knew if I bailed on my plans I would have come home and ate since work only got worse yesterday. Anyway, I went to the public pool and is was warm and nice. I swam 1/2 mile, then as I was getting ready to leave, a friend from work that I don't see often was aqua-jogging. So she aqua-jogged and I sat on the side of the pool with my feet dangling in for about 20 minutes. The whole after-work afternoon was wonderful. So instead of overeating, I over exercised and was 300 cals short yesterday. Since the evil scale was kind this morning, I can live with that. I was too exhausted to have my nightly dash of ice cream (truly a dash as it's to high in calories for more than 1/2 c. serving). The idea of moving off the couch was exhausting enough without actually doing it. :D
Auntie, great job on the 1 pounds loss. If I could consistently see a 1 pound per week drop, I'd be happy. As it stands, my good weeks are one pound. Is it that I'm getting old now or something else, I don't know. But I am plugging along. Enjoy your pizza tonight. Since my DH is working swings and I don't see him during the week and he had guard weekend last week (so I didn't hardly see him then) I was thinking of planning my calories for a special dinner tonight. I'm thinking of spicy cajun chicken pasta. It's about 400 cals per serving and I could do that. I think I'll give up the dash of ice cream (that costs me 300 per day). So auntie, I'm with you on planning for my splurge. Hi to everyone else!!! Judy I hope your ex-boss has finally left the building... Marie |
Hi Paniania and welcome to our thread! :welcome2:
Marie - I'm glad you liked the cartoon. My scale doesn't make me cry - it's more like a shriek followed by *&^*#!!??!! That was very disciplined of you to strip out the extra calories from your quesadilla. Congrats on the 1.2 lbs. loss! :woohoo: Auntie G - Looks like your whoosh fairy worked for you and Marie :carrot:. I'm hoping it will rub off on me too. Judy - I feel so bad for you being sick and having your move at the same time. Just think of how nice it will be to snuggle down in your new bed in your new apartment. Hang in there and take care of yourself . Carol - I hope you're having a nice weekend. My DH just called from Switzerland. His flight went well and he's looking forward to a good night's sleep after being up for over 24 hrs! I didn't sleep much last night but I'm thinking about going down to Curves for an extra workout. I'm also going to start doing some gentle walking on the treadmill each day for 10-15 min. and see how I do. I know I'll have to somehow increase my exercise if I don't want to gain another 10 lbs. over the winter! We sent our DS a slow cooker so he can make some meals at home and save some money. He's already tried a chicken & mushroom recipe I sent him and he was amazed how easy and delicious it was. He's going to try making a pot roast next. I'll make a chef out of him yet! Have a great weekend everyone! |
Morning everyone!!! Yesterday was a really nice day. DH and I painted DS2's bedroom and it is now the guest room. We'll pull the tape off today and set up the room. YEAH!!! Between the bathroom and bedroom, it was like a noose hanging around my neck saying "you need to do this, you need to do this". So now, it's nearly done!!!!
Then I worked on stained glass. I'd finished cutting out this big window panel (two wolves starting a each other howling with them on two opposite cliffs - remarkably the two wolves are Blizzard and Kodiak). Anyway, I'd finished cutting it out a couple weeks ago and decided to grind all the pieces yesterday. So now that's done. Next is fitting it together, then touching up the grinding. I'm pleased that I got the grinding done. It was the worse griding aspect ever - the diamond bit was dull and I even stopped to dig through my tools to see if I had an old on that I could try and couldn't find one. Afterwards, with my wrists and fingers aching, I'm taking everything out of the tool box to look for the tiny grinder (for tight curves) and find I had bought a BRAND NEW one. Man I was mad at myself!!! My wrists still hurt this morning. But, alas, I did finish.:D We also took the doggies out for a walk and will again this morning. Blizzie and Kai got a bath yesterday since they were pretty dirty. Very busy day. Today we'll watch Nascar on one TV (for DH) and the Packers on the other TV (for me). I bet it won't be quite so productive. The goal with grinding the glass yesterday was so that I could move to the next step while plopped in from of a TV (wrapping copper foil around all the pieces). But since my hands were to sore to work on the fine tune fitting and grinding, I won't get that part done. Judy, an airbed for that long??? You'll have to add a chiropracter to your appointments. Those things are not comfy (in my opinion). At least you have an end in sight with the moving and I hope you feel better. Penny, is the bursitis better enough to workout at curves? And if you have a good, healthy crock pot recipe for pot roast, send it my way. I've never got one to taste like dear old mom's (or the Claim Jumper restaurant). Hope everyone has a great Sunday. Mare |
http://i510.photobucket.com/albums/s...a_2008/551.gifMmmm, that pizza was good last night, and wouldn't you know it, I was UNofficially down another pound this morning. That one doesn't count yet, but I hope it hangs in there through the week... I think the whole month of October is going to be a challenge. We've got every weekend scheduled up already with birthdays and such. Next Friday is my wedding anniversary, so we're taking the day off and driving up to the mountains. We're going to eat breakfast out, which I haven't done at all since I got on the wagon, but hopefully we'll find a place to walk around and burn it off.
Making a pork roast in the crockpot today - ooooh it smells good. Meat is really not that tempting to me, though, so it should be a nice light day. Judy, hope the packing and last minute details are going well, and that you recover quickly! Hang in there, and don't throw in the towel! Life happens! Marie, congrats on your weight loss and on getting your rooms nearly done! What a productive weekend you're having! And the stained glass sounds awesome, but a LOT of work! My Eagles game isn't until tonight, so I'm going to try to get some oddball cleaning done today. It's been rainy and icky all weekend, so the stuff I've been ignoring all summer is calling out to me... Penny, good luck with the exercise. Treadmill walking sounds like a good idea. Hey, how about that chicken and mushroom crockpot recipe? I can use all the crockpot ideas I can get! Have a great day! |
Groan...taking a break to say hi, ladies! I gave up and saw a doctor on Saturday, so now I'm loaded up with antibiotics, and hope it kick in soon.
Penny, I laughed when I read about your budding chef. Slow cookers are really versatile, and they make your house smell yummy:drool:. I like them in summer instead of a hot stove or oven. hey, I'm glad that you're feeling better as the weeks go by. Marie, you may need to start thinking more kindly about your scale if it keeps cooperating with you this way. And no, I'm not fond of airbeds, either, but my Aerobed will be okay. Five nights is my limit, though! My ex-boss is history, sorta. The new era starts a week from now, when I get back to the office. Auntie, the packing is going...I wouldn't say "well," but I'm getting there. I got a lot done today, and some friends helped carry a few things to the new place today. I still have a lot to do before Tuesday, but unless I'm forgetting something, I should be ready. Keep up the good work on knocking those numbers down! Paniania, nice to meet you! I decided that it will be helpful to hold on to my computer, so I should be able to check in again tomorrow. No "workout" today, but I have been moving, lifting, etc., all day. A bit low on veggies, but otherwise on program. I'll pack for another hour or so, then knock off for the night, call my mom, eat a Skinny Cow ice cream and take a hot bath. Hope everyone is having a good evening! judy |
Hello all sorry I have been mia again dang I have been naughty. Anyways Auntie g that is the bood the Edgar one. Gotta get it already read the Earth one and it was excellent. I love to read right before bedtime it relaxes me I think. My mind goes away to far away places not work or stress related issues.
Canada was nice except I was ill and have been since thurs. but better late yesterday and now on a bends. It was a cold virus thats going around achy, throat issues and a cough not nice. My friend also had it but we still went on our trip die hards us chicks.... It would of been a bit nicer had we felt well so we are planning to return in the near future. Shopping wasn't great but when we were leaving heard we should have gone to a place called Newport so we will ck it out on line and see whats there and plan another trip. I did have to use up some of those pears I picked so I made 2 lovely coffee cakes with the grandaughters yesterday. Oh the best I have ever made I tell yeah. I am taking one into work to share gotta show the new director this gal can bake along with the many other great talents I have hah hah!! Judy I hope your week starts off full of energy and a more peaceful atmosphere at work. You deserve it all!!!! |
Man I wasn't done and clicked dum move...
Penny I loved the cartoon and wow it makes so much sense. I haven't been on my square but need to by wed. this week. I do have on a pair of pants from last fall and they feel okay so I am hoping things aren't so bad. If they are I will have to face the facts.... Marie I am jealous which I could do stained glass too. I never tried that but your description of the picture just was so clear in my head. Sounds wonderful must be the season to start getting busy. I put together a necklace and a new pair of earring this weekend. Some of my favorite stones from HI. Good for you and all the others in the losing dept. your inspiring me to get my butt in gear. I did purchase groceries lots of veggies and healthy things. Made some homemade soup yesterday which came out excellent of course then I ate my crackle pear cake I made but not to big of a piece. Everyone enjoyed it. I am thinking of making a couple of extras and freezing them for later in the fall. Does anyone know how does coffee cake freeze it does have diced pears in it? Just a thought. Welcome Paniania this is an awesome site and hope you become a regular or at least come back to visit often. Crock pot season is here. I have plans to do lean pork ribs and sauerkraut this week with a few potatoes in it. Maybe on wed. as I am planning to work later on that day. Well I did get some walking in Canada as we walked the town of Gananque spelled wrong sorry there is an o in there somewhere. It was very pretty. One girl we won't ask to go next time as all she did was complain afterwards about one girl putting a couple of dollars less in on gas. Yah know the girl complaining has more money than any of us will ever have doesn't it figure. Yah know if you have to count every penny than we shouldn't of even gone thats my feelings. At any rate it was a nice girls day out. Well I am off to work gotta have a bit of breakfast first and soup from yesterday will be my lunch and some fruit. So I am off to a good start. I think tonights dinner might be grilled burgers or goulash. Not sure til I get home and see if its grilling weather. Hope you all have a super monday with not to much stress. I am off to a long drive in the country to one of my clients homes about 56 miles round trip but beautiful area mountains pretty trees changing colors etc.. nice way to end my day. |
Marie - Your stained glass project sounds gorgeous. You are a many-talented lady! You've been busy decorating too - I don't know where you get all your energy - please send me some! My shoulder/arm is a bit better so I've been working out at Curves but skipping the arm machines. At least I'm getting some kind of workout - better than nothing. For the pot roast, I just use a McCormicks or similar pot roast seasoning mix and mix it with about a cup of water. I add 1 lg. carrot, 2 lg. sticks of celery and 1/2 medium onion cut up into large chunks. I get whatever cut of meat looks good and is on sale. I cook it overnight on low (about 8 hrs.) A good trick is to put the crock pot into the fridge to chill and then you can easily remove the slab of fat that forms on the top. You can then warm it up in the microwave before serving. This saves lots of calories.
Auntie G - Looks like everyone is dusting off their crock pots! Here is the recipe I gave our DS, who hasn't done much cooking: 1 10 oz. can Campbell's cream of mushroom soup with garlic, 1 8oz container sour cream, 1/4 cup water, 1 container sliced mushrooms, 1 lb. cubed chicken breast or tenders, 1 tsp. dried tarrragon (optional). Stir the wet ingredients together in the crock pot, add the mushrooms, chicken and tarragon and stir. Cook on low for 3-4 hrs. hours till chicken is cooked through and tender. I think the slow cooking really develops the flavors, more so than just heating it all up in a saucepan. Judy - I hope your antibiotics help you feel better. I'm sure you're getting quite a workout with packing, etc. Carol - I'm glad you had fun in Canada, despite getting sick. There's no stopping you - you're like the energizer bunny! Your pear cake sounds delish. It probably would freeze ok - it's worth a try. I'm sure you'll get on the good side of your new director if you take one in to work! ;) I might try a goulash in my crock pot - it's getting to be that time of the year for stews, etc. I'm enjoying my "alone time" with my DH being in Switzerland. I had a leisurely weekend and did a little pruning in my garden. It's looking really nice now. What a change from last year. I have to go to the ENT doctor today as I want to make sure my sinus infection is taken care of before my surgery next month. My dentist took some X-rays during a recent visit and he could see some cloudiness in my sinus. I think I'll need to get some antibiotics just in case. It's amazing how many people have sinus problems - it must give the doctors a steady income! |
Wow, I have been in a cleaning frenzy for the past few days. That will have to count as exercise - haha! Eating will remain on track until Friday. The crockpot pork was awesome, and oh no! I forgot to try the canned beets. Maybe next weekend...
Judy, hope you're feeling better since you got the antibiotics! And I definitely wouldn't worry about working out while you're sick and moving. All that lugging things around is plenty. Try to take it a little easy, though! Carol, hope you're feeling better, too! And here's to scoring points with the new director by taking in the cake! Penny, thanks for the recipes. I'm definitely going to try the chicken one soon. Glad you're enjoying your quiet time. Good luck with those sinuses! Have to go out to shop for a suit with DH now. Ugh! He hasn't had one in at least 20 years- should be an experience... |
Ahh, Auntie. Suit shopping, what a special experience for you!!! My dear M-I-L bought one for my DH when his grandmother died a few years ago. I luckily missed the wonderful opportunity that you are about to explore. :) I'm glad the pizza was fabulous, especially when the evil scale give you positive props the next day!!!
Judy, at least you know the end is in sight for the moving. I sure hope that the sinus infection quickly vacates your body (at least faster than your ex-boss vacated her office...:D) Carol, sounds like a pretty trip. Fall leaves, are so beautiful. I live in pine tree heaven and they don't seem to change. But there are oaks down by the river (as a crow flies about 15 miles) but it's a 4 wheeling adventure that takes about 1.25 hours each way. I did tell DH that I want to go this year. Perhaps next weekend!!! The doggies would love it! Penny, there is nothing like alone time when you're in a good solid marriage. I think it builds a marriage stronger. Perhaps I'm nuts, but I really enjoy being with DH when we're together (the dumb swing shift stuff). I don't take him for granted then. So enjoy the pruning and "you" time. I rode my bike for 15 hard minutes this am. It's way harder on the fluid trainer than on the road or any exercycle I've ridden. I was pleased I made it to 15 minutes (10 was the max a week ago). I did end up a bit sweaty. Then I did a 15 minute toning workout. Tomorrow I think my heels will try the aerobics again as the upper ankle irritation has gone away - for now at least. ;) No reason to not try again... Someday my new orthotic might come and my heel may start to heel. At least that's my hope as the next steps in working with the heel pain aren't appealing. Food is on track and work wasn't too bad. The mood was better as my co-worker whose also a friend is taking the week off. I think he's slid back to some nasty habits I thought I broke him of a few years ago. He no longer listens to other's opinions and I'm apt to let him hang himself. Probably not nice, but I have talked to him till I'm blue in the face (pretty like the scale slayer's color) and he's not listening. So I can let him hang with a clear conscience. Time for dinner and cleaning the glass. DH did the fine tuning on the glass fitting together (he's just so damn good at it and I'm not patient enough to putz with it). Once it's clean, I can clean up my craft room as it has loads of glass chips all over. Since I usually exercise in there, that's just not too safe. :D Marie |
I survived the suit shopping, but I lost a lot of weight in my wallet! The last suit poor DH had was from his sister's wedding when he was just a young beanpole. Hasn't been able to wear that in all the time I've known him, so I guess he was due for one. Alas, the store was having a two-fer sale, so now he'll have two. How many suits does a guy who doesn't wear a suit to work need anyway?
Marie, good luck with your friend/co-worker situation. I know how messy that can be. You can never change anyone but yourself, so you've done all you can do... And watch out for those glass chips! Good night, all! |
The sauce in the crock pot works out well for goulash but don't add the noodles in they get ukky! Just thought I would let you know. I do a seperate pan cook them and then add it together afterwards. It came out well and now hubby has some dinners or lunches set for the week. Tonight I am going to do a chicken stir fry w/garlic olive oil and lots of veggies served over a little brown rice. I have also packed my lunch for the day salad with feta, lots of veggies and I will add some croutons. I made sf jello and took some for work and an apple from the local orchard so crunchy.... The cake went over supper well and everyone enjoyed it. I will make some pear sauce tonight to freeze gotta use up those pears. I gave some to the sec at work she likes to bake.
Sounds like everyone is in the fall mode. Me too and trying to get a grip on my menus to fit into my healthier life style. I am planning on a nice walk today got those sneakers packed. Marie your 15 miles and then 15 min puts me to shame.... Good for you. Penny enjoy the time to curl up and just do some special things for yourself. The little time in our year we have for ourselves I can't remember when I had more than a half of day in the past two years only for myself no one else around at home etc. Sounds a little like heaven even know yah love the hubby.... distance brings the heart to new levels... Auntie g oh shopping how fun even though the wallet sags. Judy hope the move is going as smooth as possible just think the extra cals your burning. Setting up a new place in a new season sounds kind of exciting to me. I think of fall candles, dried flower arrangements and many boxes to be unpacked and a nice glass of wine to top it all off. Good luck!! Well gotta go put my face on and get out the door free cup of coffee on tues if I get my butt in gear. |
Morning everyone. Mr. Scale was evil, enough said. :o
I did 40 minutes of aerobics and 15 minutes of toning. I tried to convince myself that I didn't need to do the toning, but the music sucked me in and thankfully my devil voice didn't win. I packed my swim bag and am hoping to swim after work (there's a chance or showers but there's not a cloud in the sky at the moment). Food is on track. I ordered some brown rice protein from bodybuilders because the dried egg white was clumping in some of the mochas making it chunky. It tasted the same but if I wanted tapioca pudding, I'd have tapioca. I figured the egg whites were sort of cooking in the hot almond milk. So I'll try a different protein. I wish I could have soy - that would make my life so much easier. Auntie - if my hubby got two suits, even with a two-fer sale, I'd think he was nuts. But I'm sure they'll look nice hanging in the closet. :D I don't want to work. I thought I'd throw that in... Carol, do you ever just can the pears? That would be a nice treat all year long. Pears are delicious. Penny and Judy, I'm hoping that you both are feeling better. Marie |
Auntie G - That's so funny your DH ending up with TWO suits! I can completely relate as my DH hates wearing suits. Your cleaning frenzy definitely counts as exercise. I need a bit of a frenzy around here too!
Marie - Sorry your scale was mean. It's not fair - what with all the exercise you do. I hope your foot cooperates. I also don't use soy protein because of my health history (it can affect estrogen) so I use an egg protein mix called MLO Natural. It has 21g of protein per serving and 110 calories. It tastes pretty good. Carol - I learned the lesson about noodles in the crock pot a while ago - nothing worse than limp noodles! You're lucky having so many pears - we only got a few this year. Right now I have some chicken breast in the crock pot for a nice hot curry. I kind of made it up from what I had on hand, so I'm interested to see how it turns out. Judy - I hope you're feeling better. I got some antibiotics yesterday as my doc also thinks it's a good idea to clear up the infection before my surgery. Here is a joke I saw today that I think we can all relate to: A doctor is handing a woman a jar of lotion and says "If you want to make your stretch marks less visible, rub some of this cream on your mirror" - I think I might try this on my scale! |
Hi all! Gotta be quick, just noticed there's a thunderstorm starting up. Ugh! I thought we were past that for the season! Well, I'm being good until Friday, and that's the best I can hope for this week.
Carol, mmmmmm, garlic olive oil on ANYTHING sounds good right now! Have fun with those pears! Marie, I sure wish I could get into the exercise thing like you! Ah, maybe some day... I can't believe that scale gives you such a hard time with all that exercising going on. You must at least have some strong muscles! Hang in there... Penny, the joke cracked me up! I'm going to have to try that - LOL. I guess I better purge some stuff from the closet to make room for those new suits now. They are getting tailored, so I have until Monday, when I pick them up, to make space. A lovely excuse to do some more decluttering! I can't seem to stop cleaning, and I have NEVER had that "problem" before. OK, I'm outta here. Good night! |
Just a quick one I am more on task with choices but slipped up with a hand ful of m&m's peanut ones at least last night. Gave the rest to the skinny hubby and said you have them and I don't want to see them okay.... I ate poached eggs and raisin toast for breakfast have a healthy salad packed with plain tuna, walnuts, gr. grapes and romaine, tomatoe for lunch, crockpot has pork roast lean , saurerkraut for dinner, gr. sf jello and apple for dessert. I am trying its not so easy. Got my mini walk in yesterday gym today.
I will catch up on personals later on. |
