Shift Workers - overnight, overweight, overwhelmed

  • let's see...

Sleep - I don't take anything to help me sleep. I'm usually so sleep deprived that I can sleep anywhere anytime. There are days I do have trouble getting sleep - usually the last of a string of days off. Then I'm pretty caught up and I have trouble getting an hour or two nap before heading in for work. But I try to at least rest in bed, reading if not sleeping. I can always sleep the next day for sure. But I don't have kids to plan my sleep patterns around either. I'm sure that would complicate things no end since "anywhere anytime" doesn't exactly work when you have kids to watch. I don't black my windows or anything but I do sleep with a fan blowing - one I like the breeze and two, the white noise blocks out various other noises.

Doctors - Aud and Glynne, I'd be inclined to bite your doctors. I feel very lucky that I like mine. But then I know she'd never recommend drugs for me, she knows I don't like to take any drugs ever other than advil. I will if I have to, like antibiotics for a UTI but mostly I try to avoid all medications as much as possible.

Yoga workout - ye gods... the work out ain't so bad and Sara Ivanhoe is easy to follow. But the yoga... Let's just say this body sure don't bend like hers. She wraps her skinny little arms around each other in a standard pose - well, I can try, but my arms only go about half around each other. But I'm sure between practice and less weight on my arms eventually I'll get better. The 20 minutes sure goes by fast.

I'm on my first of three days off in a row for the first time this month. I am in heaven!
  • Mark your progress Vlad, because if you keep at the yoga you most certainly will be able to bend like Sara, eventually. It's amazing! And you will really feel a difference in your joints, your mood, just everything. I feel so much better when I am making time for yoga every day.
  • We're getting a little long in the pages here, so I'll start a July thread so we don't break the 500 posts limit.
  • Sounds good. Post a link to it here? So any of those who seem to have stepped away know where to find us. We seem to be missing a few...
