Just a quick HI before I try to have a nap . . . stupid storm woke me up at 4 am and by the time I closed all the windows, I was definitely awake. Now I've had breakfast and 3 cups of coffee I'm going to try to have a nap. Oh ya, good luck. I have an eye appointment this afternoon and could really use another couple of hours of shut-eye before having to show them to my Optometrist . Really loving the analog Seca scale this morning. No matter how hard I tried -- on and off a few times and even shoved it around on the floor a bit -- couldn't convince it to register any number other than 215. Must have stripped a bunch of water yesterday because I know you can't lose more than 3 pounds of fat overnight anymore than you can gain it in the same time frame. Hey, whatever it is, I like the number :goodscale Don't fret LAURA . . . you'll soon get the hang of it. Thanks JULIA . . . figured I had Ontario to thank for our storm. Okay . . . hope you all have a great day of moving and shaking fun . . . see you later . . . :carrot: |

Morning!
I'm still looking for folks who want to have coffee in Stratford late in July. |
Another HI . . . . . . Good Morning to All . . . :grouphug:
If I still lived in Kitchener, I'd be there Susan . . . but a little too far to drive now. |
? about Kitchener .... and Ontario
Meowee.........what's Kitchener like to live in? What's the weather like in the summer and winter? How much would a bachelor apt. cost per month and what are job prospects like there?
Also......anyone else living there.......any input as to the above questions elsewhere in Ontario? I lived in Ottawa and know i don't want to deal with the weather there......but i heard it's one of the cheapest cities to live in. Anyways.......just me musing......... thanks x |
Well . . . I liked it a lot . . . Kitchener/Waterloo is/are very close to Toronto and yet have managed to maintain a distinct personality (quite German) . . . Kitchener is relatively blue-collar and Waterloo (the two touch so it's pretty hard to separate them for thiw type of discussion) is a major University city.
Climate is a little softer than Ottawa and area since it is quite a bit further south, but KW is in a snow-belt and it does get very hot and humid in the summer like most of south-western Ontario. No idea about apartment costs; but when I moved down here in 1991, I bought my current house (detached, side-split on large corner lot) for the same amount that I sold my townhouse in Kitchener for. Food costs and gasoline costs are a little more reasonable than down here though. About job prospects I don't have much to offer but feel compelled to mention that the relatively recent closure of the Uniroyal Goodrich (Michelin) tire plant took quite a hunk out of the local economy. |
Thanks for the insight, Meowee x

Morning all
Well my son is graduating from Junior high today ( at least i haven't heard otherwise ! ) And he's not going to be happy but guess who is going to show up at his grad ceremony? He doesn't want me to be there ( so he says ) so he'll act angry to find me there. But my boss wanted me to go so i have the afternoon off whether i like it or not! Anybody here ever lived in Calgary/Edmonton? lol Have a good day everyone x :df::df::df::df::df::df::df::df: |
Hi Everyone: I stumbled on to this site by accident. I'm a colonrectal cancer survivor (Jan 2006), I'm having a heck of a time loosing weight because they pumped me up on steroids during treatment, plus I have low thyroid..so I have 3 strikes against me. Post cancer I did Atkins and lost a pile of weight, was feeling great, looking good and then bam Cancer....bummer...in more ways than one Colonrectal:)
Boy do I sound like a whinner....I've told you all the "bad" stuff. The good stuff is that I haven't lost my sense of humour. I can't do Atkins again because to much protein "does a number on me" Looking for some suggestions, and help thanks, Joy Kingston, Ontario |
Good Morning . . .
My eldest son and his family live in Bonnyville, AB which is in the Cold Lake area (about 2 hours north east of Edmontonand right on the Saskatchewan border). Another gorgeous morning around here although it is going to be a little warmer and a little more humid I think. We also have another forest fire on the go but this one is about as far from me as it can get and still be in the same Province. Nothing else new and exciting for me . . . hope everybody else has a great day. :carrot: |
Hi JOY . . . glad you made it over here.
I'd suggest that you take a look at one of the Glycemic Index plans which stress good carbs rather than really low carbs. That's what I do, with a lot of the principles of Volumetrics thrown in for good measure because I definitely like to feel full. I try to keep my net carbs about 40% and protein and fat both at around the 30% of calories level. There are lots of plans explained around here for you to take a look at in the Diet Central area of the forum . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=102 . . . don't know if I gave you this link before? |
Welcome Joy......nice to meet you.
