Morning ladies, I never noticed the egg before and there I am with a big yellow yolk in it.. well it is all over folks, tomorrow is the end of summer.. autumn starts and the weather will cool down, sunny days won't be so hot. Seems to be a few sales on today before of the date so perhaps I can wander round the shops to brighten the mood.. at least the easter bunny isn't to far away, is always nice to have a break

Dh and DS are off to Perth next w/end, they are pretty excited, guess i had better go and get them some money so they can buy stuff.. they are away for 10days so I hope the weather will be kind to them.

It is sunny today but the is forecast for the w/end, bit of a shame since we are going to a wedding tomorrow! It is pretty casual and is at their house so we won't have to stand in the rain.

Shad I hope you have taken a few deep breathes and sorted out the kitchen, they probably enjoy shocking people

Rennie you can have the meerkats, will put your name on them for collection, just aim for the runway lights

Hi everyone for the last day of Feb, see you all in Maui

I would love them. I think they are just to darn cute. I say the same thing about my porch lights and the lights at the end of my drive. You drive down the street and all you see is my drive. I don't live that far from an airport lol.

Melody
You should have heard my daughter. " MOTHER, I won't be able to show my face. I CAN'T believe you BOUGHT those things. " You know kid, you could have made them yourself lol. Does she not realize I am one of only 3 other mothers that makes anything, they all buy everything lol. p.s they boys of course loved my brownies lol. I could eat salmon every day of the week but I worry about the mercury in it. Ohhhhhhhh did you know there is a low fat brownie mix. I think it has 8 grams of fat per brownie. Now that isn't so bad, might just have to get myself some of that someday. I have no idea how much fat is in my home made ones probably 55 grams per brownie lol. You end up at my house and I will make you anything you like . Could send you something couldn't I

Morning all,
Yep, we'll be moving it in Maui for the next 31 days. Shaker and I can get away tonight and the rest will have to wait for the following 24hrs to pass. That'll larn ya for bein' behind us!

I just figured out that the 18K quote wasn't the end in one case, there were extra trades costs to be added - they apparently don't employ the tradespeople, they hire them in and you have no say in who you get unless you employ your own. The 2nd mob have a trades people on staff and it is all included in the quote. That makes the decision a bit easier since getting a tradesman for a domestic job is like reaching for the moon (marama). I do have a couple of alterations to the design for the 2nd mob so I will get those done today and see what difference it makes.

Todays to-do list includes a dump run, a shed run and top to tail cleaning in the bathroom, packing some more books, and getting out in the garden - always providing the rain stays away. And of course there is always washing to be done. I would have to be dead to run out of that.

Madcat - refuse that job offer. Best to let frogs fall from the sky. We have a dire shortage of the little beauties over here since some klutz introduced the Cane Toad. That rotten sucker has been eating the real froggies out of house and home ever since.
You better let Carla know about the NYC places. She's not impressed with the suggestions from Mel and I and has stayed away in protest!!!
Please don't mention the backsplash just yet. I haven't put them into the quote since I can do those myself later. They will be tiles probably since glass beautiful as it is will be unaffordable. We priced that for the DS2's kitchen. His tastes are almost as expensive as mine.
Have a wonderful time in Mexico.

Rennie - I've waited 20 years for this kitchen. I've scrimped and saved and worked some bloody awful hours to get the money together. There is no way I am going to not have what I want now. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap, but it is nowhere near as expensive as I could have had. I don't have to feed kids or DH, I don't have anyone elses needs to consider other than my own.
Store bought biscuits. Did the roof fall in at the store???

Happy - cake sounds interesting. Did it rise much? Is it similar to a sponge cake or heavier than that?? Like the sound of the fruit on the top. Yummy.
There is a little bit left in the kitty. It will cover the heart attack I think. Never mind, I've been talking about this for a long time. You might have to come visit me, instead of me coming to you next time.

Mel - good that you and Jen can talk about these things. And she is wise not to give up her place in the complex. I just hope that it will all work out for her whatever she decides to do.
Those funny looking peppers in the picture are called bullhorns here. I only saw them for the first time just the other day. Usually things that look like that are a form of chili, but not always hot. Sometimes I stuff them with rice and chicken and stuff. Have to check out for green ones, I've only seen red.

Carla - get back here and stop waving - oh was that your exercise for the day????

Ceejay - feel better soon.

Shaker - it has been hot and sunny in Perth for the last ten weeks. According to the weather forecast, not much change in sight for a while. Tell them to take plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water. 37C over there today. Right stinker.

Okay - hope I have forgotten too many people. Can't go back any further without losing my post and I've been here too long already anyway. See ya.

It was so funny. The lady at the check out gave the brownies a second look. lol I said I am not going to make them twice, don't think I could do it, not twice, and not eat a bunch of them. She laughed and said she wondered why I was buying them because I never buy that kind of stuff. I don't even generally buy mixes. The roof didn't fall in but the lights did flicker a bit lol.

I have been saving to have a new porch put on the side of my house. It runs the length of the house. Is one of the things I just can't do myself because I have no idea at all how to do it and save the roof ( ceiling ) which doesn't need replaced. My kitchen took me a few months to do and was so much work I thought about giving up a time or two. I replaced walls, redid the ceiling, wood work and am just now getting the wood floor put down. Am still looking for the ceramic sink that should be in there. I lived in a little cracker box for over 10 years to save for the down payment for this house. By the time I sell it, it is going to look exactly how I think it should look. I got some pics of it from about 80 years ago. Most of what I am doing to the house is restoring what I can. Why on earth would anyone paint woodwork jeez. You should see me hunting in dirty barns for things all summer long lol. I found the floor at an auction from an old farm house that was being torn down. I found some of the wall paper at a yard sale. The people cleaned out their attic ( was her great grandmothers house ) and there it was. The wallpaper I wanted for the family room. I got the stuff for 1 dollar a roll lol. I just wait and look. So far I have always found what I am looking for. I went without plug and light switch covers for 4 years. I finaly found the old ceramic ones I wanted at an auction. Good things come to those that wait

Morning ladies - happy Leap Day ,

We have a bit of Shad's rain today. Better than Mel and Rennie's snow I suppose.

The boss liked her cake yesterday. It came out light like a sponge cake I guess Shad. And it didn't rise very much, if fact as it cooled, it pulled away from the sides of the pan and compacted a bit now that you mention it. I had several different berries - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and a new one for me - blackberries that accompanied the cake. We topped it off with a dollop of some French Vanilla flavored whipped topping. Was quite tasty for a "diet" cake. We all enjoyed it.

Then I made my dessert for the bake off today. Took me way longer than I planned as it has several layers which have to set and chill before you can add the next layer. For some reason I also seemed to use a lot of dishes and I couldn't go to sleep with the kitchen messy. I stashed what I could into the dishwasher but there were still several items I had to hand wash. Didn't get to bed until 1:30 and although I used to have a horrid job in which I got by with only 3 to 4 hours of sleep a night, I find I can't do that anymore. After 2 cups of coffee, I am still tired. Going to be a long day.

Remind me to be a bump on the log and not participate in things anymore

Gosh I am just too tired to think which is bad because I have to do some serious number crunching at work today. Guess I'd better get on with it. Sorry I didn't do personals, I will chat more when we land in Hawaii. Which by the way, Kilauea on the big island of Hawaii is burping lava again. Guess we should be ok on Maui but watch your step

It is snowing again. It was not suppose to snow today. I told it not to snow today I have to drive 3 hours to my friends house. Just like my kids, the weather never listens to me. Sponge cake is great with lots of different kinds of fruits. Hope you enjoyed. Sounds good. I am going to have to think about making something like that.

I do feel better this morning.

One thing that I did on the spur of the moment yesterday was to get my hair cut. It really needed it. The hair salon was near GNC and they accepted walk in's. My hair feels a lot better now.

The RAV4 needed a little extra tlc yesterday. I knew it had to be done. Since the power steering and transmission fluids were changed yesterday the Rav4 should be good for another 50,000 miles. I asked about the battery and they said it checked out good. This is the original battery.

On the way back home I noticed that the tree's looked like they had buds.
Spring should be here soon.

Will do Personal's later. Have a good day.

Aloha and Happy Leap Day!!

WTG Mel...you rock on the loss.

Wore my cute little jean skirt today to work, and now I have a big ol ho in my hose. The dang screws on my desk did a number on them. Sheesh. Did find some nail polish, but the ho is quite big.

Going out tonight with buds from work to see a band they know. Dawn Dilly (catchie name) is in the band. I am looking forward to going out. We all like to dance (or at least try to move to look like dancing). lol. Oh well, they will all be drunk and I won't. Still on meds so won't drink. I act crazy enough tho, everyone thinks I am loaded.

Not much else going one. Everyone have a wonderful time at the beach in Maui. Will see you there......

Hula on out the door.

Love and Hugs
