HI All, I think giving up anything just makes you crave it that much more. The single bite size candy bars are good to have around if you "need" something sweet. I plan a break every day, in the afternoon. I have my cup of tea and a small serving of something sweet. It can't have over 100 calories, but there are lots of things you can have for that 100 calories. I usually have 1 small piece of dark chocolate, but some other things are the 100 calorie packs, which include many things now. L/F L/C pudding is another, and even little Debbie makes some cakes that are 100 calorie. It's a challenge to find something, and I look forward to it.

Someone mentioned shin pain. Be careful and don't get shin splints! They can put you out of the game for awhile. Our rehab Dr. at work showed me a couple of exercises to do that will help, and they are simple. Stand facing a wall and put your hands on the wall. Lean into the wall untill your face touches it, keeping your feet flat. You get a good stretch that way.

Everyone have a good day. Remember, we're not only getting thinner every day, we're getting healthier.

Hi everyone..
I'm new to this group..I'm trying to lose 50 pounds the healthy way..no pills, no surgery..those are for wimps. I just started walking for exercise this past Monday so I haven't been doing this very long. Im really bad about not staying motivated to stick with anything and end up quiting 2 weeks into it. So I'm looking for people that can give me inspiration, motivation & advice.

Looking forward to meeting ya'll!! Good luck with your weight loss goals.

*waving* Hi Chick72 ~

Nice to meet you! Walking is great exercise. Keep it up and soon you'll notice how much better you feel in general ... more energy, our bodies love the fresh air and movement ... plus begin to lose weight!

Looking forward to reading about your journey!

Ladii bug thanks for all the advice. I journalled today and that made me feel better and then I tried my yoga video. I didn't really like the video that much...too much about finding your inner self and breathing and ugh.....not for me I'd rather have a good old hardcore workout lol. I like it for the stretching, but I think I need to find one thats less about the breathing and inner person and more about the stretching. I heard the firm has a good video for that. Also, this week I was less stressed as soon as I turned my paper in. I still have two more tests one very important one not so much, but they aren't stressing me out as much. Not yet anyway....wait til friday and I'll be freaking

Thanks for the congratulations too! I appreciate it . It's funny when I left high school for college I was sad about it ending and something new. Now I am excited...I'm ready for the next step so I can actually get a job doing what I want to do. Although it may be another 2-4 years before that happens. I'm excited too that I will never again have to take a class that I hate just b/c the school thinks it will be good for me i.e Calculus....grrr....lol

As for the weather here it cooled off quickly about 30 min after my post it poured and cooled off lol. Works for me.

Progress Report:

Drove my walking routes to get mileage. I want to set a monthly walking goal. One route = 1.0 miles, longer route = 1.4 miles. Have begun to record which route & time taken to walk it on calendar.

One big obstacle down: Maybe silly, but I HATE to sweat! Just hate it! It's OK a couple times a week doing strenuous yard work (which I enjoy), but to walk fast enough to sweat ... Now I realize that's a good thing ... fat calories are being burned.

Found an incredible sale on Victoria's Secret 100% cotton pants - ($5.99 each!). Lounging/PJ/casual, I bought a black pair and a blue pair. Drawstring waist, XL.

I've needed new pants SO badly, but could not deal with having to buy an even larger size than a year ago.

I can finally face adding my long term goals as a ticker in my sig and seeing that # regularly Will do that today.

Reading Fitness for Dummies from library. Will try to get a permanent copy from Paperback Swap or buy it. Lots of great, easy to absorb info, from super basic (recommended weights) to more complicated, with some charts you can fill out and follow your progress.

I bought one doughnut yesterday. First candy/sweet purchase in a week. Actually turned down a cake sample at the grocery store (!). After reading how far I have to walk, and SWEAT, to burn off calories, I am being stingy with adding more calories to what I have in body fat to lose!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

SDgal - I haven't weighed myself in over two months! I got on the scale today but I wouldn't take my hand off the counter. lol I know what a goof, but at least I got closer. We can do this!

I wanted to post to everyone but there is too many. This is a good problem. I love all of those wonderful recipes. Keep them coming...I love the sweet stuff. I'm bad, I skip meals and eat the sweets sometimes.

Well my pedometer is at 9330 so far. I got to get to 10,000. It's really humid today and walking outside was not so pleasant.

I have the whole family eating healthy. There isn't much choice, cause there's not a lot of bad things in the house. We are learning healthy habits together.
I found an amazing WW cheesy chicken shells recipe I made last night for my family. At nine points for three shells, with zero point side veggies, it was FABULOUS and very filling. I'll have to post the recipe.

I also went to the gym again last night. I took Steve with me, and it wasn't long enough for me (I like to go for an hour). Steve couldn't do more than 30 minutes Poor guy. But its ok, he'll build up.

I agree with learning healthy eating habits for the whole family.. Yummo!!

Well I am off to bed before I get my second wind and can't sleep. See you all tomorrow!
Aw, thanks!! I am glad to be back too I am really looking forward to getting back into the 150's.. the first time I hit 159 I was simply thrilled. I got down as low as 154, but only for a week or two and then I got very lazy. I'm glad to be back on track. Excersizing has exhilirated me.. I feel like I'm accompishing something and that's what matters. As soon as I see a physical change, I will feel even better about myself.

Have a super day!!!

Love,
Michelle

Oh and ReadytoGo I thought of another sweet treat that is awesome for the calorie conscious. Sugar Free Fudge Pops. Yum. I think they are along the lines of 60 calories and if you didnt happen to like the taste of the sugar free the regular are only 100 calories.

I'll read later, just ran in quick, busy day. Took dh to work at 6:00 a.m. , came back walked for 100 minutes. Had doc apt for son this a.m. as he hurt his finger on the spoke of his bike, that took 2 hours! But just in time to run for an 11:00 wic apt. That took 10 minutes thank God. He needs an x ray to make sure the spoke didn't go in. So I ca,e home to grab pb sandwiches and kefir and water then its off to tow, to see dh for 30 minute lunch, then hospital. Hopefully I have time for walmart too.

Didn't get to the pudding last nite. I screwed it up. I normally make pudding from scratch, 6-12 cups of mix at a time. Then just pull from that. It was straight cocoa! And I wasted 5.5 cups milk making pudding that had no sugar in it! Blech!!!! hahahaahah

Had popcorn instead so wound up at 1649, not bad, 4 day average is still 1520 or so.

Anyhow food is going great today!

Good luck everyone!

Hi Jasmine ~

What's kefir? How's your son's finger? Poor kiddo!

I laughed yesterday at your "I have 5 kids, please don't come to my house without calling ...". True for me, too! I have no kids, but two dogs ... dog toys allll over, dog hair in the corners, baby mattress in the middle of the living room (to put their dog pillow on).

I hate sweating too, and have the propensity to do it a lot. I ended up buying one of those moisture wicking tops from target. They look tiny, but they stretch a lot, and they keep the fabric from sticking to me (I always wear tshirts on top of them). Maybe that would help make you more comfortable when you're working out?
