Afternoon All!!!

Looking like rain here too. It is sooooooo muggy. whoosh. 30 C + humidex.

Love the journal PW!!!
Carla- go jump in the lake!! I did yesterday it certainly soothes the soul.

I am mostly over the whole fiasco this week. Feeling cautious about hiring a new sitter tho.

Kids enjoyed Sunfest as did I. It was nice to wander about with a friend and our kids. The 8 year old boys bonded quickly. They hadn't seen each other since they were 8 months old but claim they remember it. We got to hear a Russian, Jewish and Quebecois bands.
Kids had pizza for lunch ( Italian I suppose) I had Thai!!!

Housework time. We are all resting enjoying popsicles. Hubby is holding down the couch and learning a new song on guitar. He has been stellar lately. I am deeply thankful. The "good" DH is great. The depressed dysfunctional DH needs to take a hike forever!!! Enjoying the unbeat ,happy last couple of months.

Starting at the Top
-kids rooms
-bathroom
-fold and put away my laundry

MELODY525 07-08-2007 03:52 PM

EDIT: I should have said in my previous post_
SOME of the meds they USE for pain are anti-inflammatory and THOSE drugs usually need to be taken on a regular basis to keep the inflammation down IF that is what's causing the pain in the first place. How's that??? DON'T WANT THE CHICKS TO BE GETTING ADDICTED!!

AND NO CARLA....YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY!!! :lol3:
JUST STICK TO YOU CHALLENGE AND COACHING JOB! :rollpin: SLEEPING IN ON A RAINY DAY CAN BE SUCH A GOOD THING. HOPE THE CHAIR & OTTOMAN FIT IN THE SPACE AND THAT THE CATS DON'T USE IT FOR THEIR SCRATCHING POST IN SPITE!! :yikes: :faint:
CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING THE GOOD SCALE DAY!! GREAT JOB!!

HAPPY~ CHECK TO MAKE SURE HOW YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO TAKE THOSE PILS!! CARLA MIGHT SEND THE MOUNTIES AFTER ME AND DRAG MY SORRY BUTT UP TO THE FROZEN NORTH!! GLAD YOU GOT IN THE POOL. WE'VE BEEN GLORIOUSLY SUNNY ALL DAY TOO. THINK I SHOULD LOOK IN MY MEDICE CHEST AND CLEAR OUT THE OUT OF DATE CREAMS ETC. GOOD IDEA! HOPE YOU GET YOUR SORTING ALL DONE TOO.

I REALLY CAME BACK TO SAY THAT I AM GOING TO THE MALL TOMORROW...GOD WILLING....AND THEY DON'T CHANGE THE SCHEDULE AGAIN....SO I WON'T BE HERE. LAST TIME THE EYES WERE TOO SORE AND READING MADE THEM WORSE WHEN I GOT HOME. SO HAVE A WONDERFUL MONDAY!! :moped:

MELODY525 07-08-2007 03:55 PM

Holly~ I see you on a new page now...glad the week is getting pushed behind you!! carry on!!

Ruthxxx 07-08-2007 07:04 PM

Hey! Semi-Cousin Ian and Real Cousin Peter (retired RCMP) are coming tomorrow afternoon for a visit! It'll be late afternoon so I'm glad I made the chicken dish for the freezer as I'm sure they will be here for dinner. Shall I take pictures? Peter is not bringing his horse although he was in the Musical Ride. (Don't get all excited, chickies! This is The Musical Ride! Didja think it was something kinky? Maybe with Ravell's Bolero?)

I think I'll go to bed shortly and rest up. I may have to make two pies tomorrow - peach and blueberry are the requests!

ceejay52 07-08-2007 09:52 PM

Ruth--save me a piece of each pie. Blueberry is my favorite. Enjoy the visit.

Mel--take care of the eyes. I did toss some stuff out of the fridge this week end but didn't clean the inside. I'm on day 3 of Bob Greene.

Happy--Good to see you posting again. Isn't is quite when every one leaves!?
Enjoy the swim.

Shad-I took the fluid pill last night and was up 3/4 of the night. Had to take a nap this afternoon just to catch up on my sleep. From now on it will be taken during the day. I've been outside this afternoon mowing the lawn and sweating. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to take it on day's like today.

Carla- I don't like to take any medication either, but sometimes it's a must.

PW--You have a cute journal idea. I'm needing to go back to the gym myself.

Had a quick trip to Paragould yesterday and came back today. I told them that I couldn't come next week end. I'm litterally exhausted. Speaking of being exhausted I'm going to bed earlier than 11 p.m. tonight.

happy2bme 07-08-2007 10:28 PM

Ok Ceejay - it's almost 9pm and I see you little egg light shining. Time to click off the computer and put your head on your pillow and close those eyes. I'm sure a day full of lawn mowing should get you nice and sleepy. Rest well.

Oh Ruthie, now I'll be humming Bolero all night  Ok, so who was it in the cartoon with Snidley Whiplash? Wasn't he a mountie? :chin: Dang, can't remember. I'm sure Madcat knows... I'll take a small slice of peach pie if you're serving :T :T :T

Mel, I take anti-inflammatories every day. Some days I'm fine, some days I hurt. No rhyme or reason to it. I should stop the meds to see if they are doing any good at all. The knee is acting up today, yesterday it was the shoulder. I think it's more from just getting a good workout in the pool. 2 Motrins and I'll be fine.

Looks like everyone but Carla is dealing with muggy lately. Oh wait Shad was talking about it being cool too - or was that the natives?

It's muggy and buggy here. Sun shining brilliantly and of course once I got in the pool a gray cloud moved right overhead and shaded the water. I stayed in for a while but it was breezy in the shade and I was getting chilled so I didn't make the hour workout I wanted to. Just as well. I went to one grocery store because it was on the way of my errands and I couldn't find where anything was. They didn't have some key ingredients I needed for this week's dinners so I wound up trekking to my old faithful store after all. Burned up 3 and a half hours grocery shopping. Did I mention I HATE  grocery shopping?

I'm tired now, would love to go to bed now but there's a few things that need doing before I can hit the sack. Just popped over here while I was checking the weather for the week. Nighty night to all on this side of the pond, 'afternoon to Suzi and Shad.

Shad 07-08-2007 11:36 PM

Afternoon all,
It is definitely cool here at the moment. Apparently it was down under 10C this morning. The natives are revolting. They have to buy winter clothes, so they all have to go off island to get them and dang it all, it may warm up by the time they get back. It may not as well. I must admit, I didn't think it would get quite so cool here.

Went for my run this morning. It is getting easier again. I managed to gasp up the hill for longer than I have been doing and once I got over the top, I ran all the way home. So things are looking up.

Ruth - watch out what you say about the blokes. Mel will have you eliminated from the BAV group if you make one rash statement. Hey I even got told off for intoxicating the hired help!
I'll have a bit of both pies thanks and some real cream and some :censored: :censored: Food porn.

Ceejay - take the fluid tablet directly before or after breakfast. That way you have a show of getting rid of the worst before bed. Lawns have to be mowed when they have to be mowed.

Happy - 3 hours in the grocery store. :yikes:  aaaargh.
Get some exercise and some rest. you deserve this.

For those of you who have commented on this contract. Yes it is very short term. Only 10 days more or less with travel time included. It's the sort of contract I have been trying to cultivate. If I wish to only work six months or so of the year so I can retire gracefully, then another few of these would do the trick nicely. I have decided that after this stint in Perth I will not do long term, long range contracts again. If they are at home or someplace where I can get home easily for a weekend then thats okay, but Perth is so far away and takes most of the weekend to get there and back so it's not really on. I've told the agent about this. He will still be trying to get me to change my mind, but unless the money or the location is stupendous, I am not going.

Anyway - better go.

Painter - GOOD WORK

happy2bme 07-09-2007 12:32 AM

Shad - if it's cool enough perhaps you could wear the new jacket you picked up in Canada. I know it's not snowing where you are but it's a chance to use it. Or did you leave it at home? :(

I can completely understand how you wouldn't want the long time away contracts any more. I imagine after a while it takes it's toll in many ways. So here's to short fat well paying contracts from here on in  :crossed: Besides - you need to be home for a while - I'm eagerly awaiting the pictures from your trip.

We only get paid once a month - that seems so archaic - anyhow I got my raise from my promotion and it was nice to have the extra money. Not quite as much as JK Rowling's is getting for writing the Harry Potter books - if only DH would let me stay home and write that book everyone says I should write :write: :comp: ;)

Ok, timer just went off on the dryer, time to do the last fold of the night and bag up some cherries for tomorrow's lunch. They had a nice looking mango salad at the deli today Shad - thought of you.

Pleasant dreams ladies.

Shad 07-09-2007 01:06 AM

Mango salad - yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I''ll be right over.

Ruthxxx 07-09-2007 06:39 AM

NOW THIS IS HOT, HUMID AND HAZY!!!

Hollyhock 07-09-2007 10:20 AM

Still very hot and humid here.
I must admit to feeling shellshocked still and nervous about the whole babysitter fiasco last week, this morning. It is very hard to have everything about yourself, marriage, home and children maligned over and over and not worry about it or second guess oneself.

I chatted with my friend on the phone this morning about her daughter coming to babysit and then talked with the daughter and then we went over for a visit at their place. The girl is coming here for an hour tomorrow. My kids acted a bit silly and now I am paranoid that they will be judged and put down.
I can feel and see the differences already . This girl is interested in children and not boyfriends and is excited about bringing books to read with them etc.
I also have a good relationship with both of her parents, who are happily married.

Oh my, I need to relax.
I have 2 hours till we need to go to a doc appt for DS. It is for counselling thru the Children's Centre. He is anxious about going but I am hoping it will go well. He usually is great after the appt. Then we are going to my Grandma's to do her hair, then we need to pick up groceries and some paint samples for the livingroom.

My new BIG project will be to paint trim in the livingroon ( first) and the then the whole house.
I have 20 samples of white paint chips here. The new windows are an off white that seem to lean to grey. I want a warmer colour throughout the house so I am inclined to ignore the window vinyl and focus on the whole rooms. My colours are warm.

Right now I will clean the kitchen and vacuum the LR.

Many hugs!!

MELODY525 07-09-2007 10:48 AM

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD

"A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World." Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.

The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the 'Seven Wonders of the World' are:

1. To See
2. To Hear
3. To Touch
4. To Taste
5. To Feel
6. To Laugh
7. And to Love."

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!

A gentle reminder -- that the most precious things in life cannot be built by hand or bought by man."

PS TO HOLLY~ I KNOW IT IS EASY FOR ANY ONE OF US TO GIVE ADVICE BUT.....EVERYTIME ONE OF THOSE "SCARY" THOUGHTS ENTERS YOUR HEAD PUSH IT OUT AS FAST AS IT CAME IN. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT...JUST SHOVE IT AWAY FROM YOU AND PUT ANOTHER THOUGHT IN THERE INSTEAD!! WE AS HUMANS TEND TO DWELL ON THE SADNESS AND LET IT CONTINUALLY WASH ALL OVER US. THEREBY KEEPING THE FLAME OF NASTINESS ALIVE. SO GET ON YOUR BEST FIRE SUIT AND GRAB THE EXTINGUISHER AND SQUIRT WITH GREAT GUSTO...THIS TOO SHALL PASS.:carrot:
