Default Can I be a best-lifer?

I am buying the book this week, I just saw re-run of the Oprah show and I think this diet might really help me. My weight was okay before I got pregnant, but I was already on the road to gaining weight back that I had lost and now I am just trying to keep pregnancy weight as reasonable as possible. If I can deliver under 200, I will be thrilled, I am very nervous about post-partum feelings. I think havingt a plan and working on my very bad bingeing habits while pregnant would help me alot. I am just going to do Phase I and work on eating habits until my baby comes in October. This will be my first pregnant night of not eating the evening away with cookies and ice cream, so wish me luck!

I just joined the Best Life website, and my copy of the book is on the way. I am just having a devil of a time sticking to anything lately, I have tried a few, but my life is just so darn busy, it's hard to squeeze in time to eat, much less think about what I am gonna eat...

Plus, I am hoping to be able to help my DH too, he's a truck driver, and eats on the road 4 days a week.

Well Hello There...

Well Hello There And sapostrophee

Of course you can join! The more the merrier! The diet would probably be very healthy medically speaking for a mum and babe You probably already spoke to your doctor just to make sure...but it would be a very sound diet I would think...and really the there are no gimmicky foods or fees or anything which makes it cheap.

Nothing new with me...Canada is so crazy hot...so I have to beat the heat the best way that I know how...last night I was going for a walk at midnight...but we have to be careful around here as we have had a peeping tom and some real weird stuff happening lately...so I need to take pepper spray just incase...

If you have questions message me...take care of you and your babes!

I would also like to join your group. I picked up the book and journal tonight. I will start reading the book tomorrow.

This evening I went bathing suit shopping and I got so discouraged. I work out about 1 hour a day 6 days a week and I was so upset with how I looked in a suit. I have the exercise part day but my problem is the eatting part.

I am a married mom of 2 kids. I just turned 40 and I thought by this time I would be at my goal weight and ideal body shape/ size. My goal is to be there by my next birthday.

If anyone has joined his website, what do you think of it?

Bev

Well Hello There and Everyone!

And a Special Hello to you Bev!

Bev I think that you are already way ahead of the game ...I am 45 and I only tinkered around with exercising but thing on a consistent basis...and you are one step ahead already...I am sure that you have only just started the book but my one goal was to get my exercise to a level 1 consistently to move to the next phase...and you are already there...that is wonderful...

As for his website...I told myself that I have blown a small fortune so there would be no extra monies going out...PERIOD...I dont know anyone that has joined...I joined this and Buddyslim for my support (both are free)...besides the anonymity is helpful because I think that I have a shy and embarrassed side...So I am here you can email me too...somewhere on here there is a private message thing...have you also tried Buddyslim it has many journal features...that could be helpful!

Ugh! I have to say, I requested a refund today on the website. It is just NOT user friendly!! I mean in phase 1 encourages you to at least eat breakfast every day, but doesn't have a way for you to make a meal plan and shopping list that is just breakfasts??

I am still going to get the book, and see if it's more user friendly...

Hello everyone, old and new!

I have been slaving away at life in the Canadian prairie heat. Thunderstorm season, humid, humid, humid. But I drink my water, I eat more fruit and use the old stove less, and the barbeque more at this time of year.

ANYHOW, my DH booked us a trip to Hawaii in December. Good and bad feelings about that...obviously the bathing suit thing, plus its the Big Island and that will mean hiking in the volcano-trails etc., and I am no where near in shape cardiovascularly!! Yikes!! But isn't he sweet? What a guy...Its the week before Christmas (16-23) so we will drop the kids in B.C. at my folks, fly direct from Vancouver and then spend Christmas in B.C. What's to complain about???

I am seriously panicking here. 50 pounds in 6 months...is it doable? What is realistic here??

Kim1, you are in Phase 2, are you not?? Anyone else? What can I expect for a weight-loss rate?? I am still in Phase 1, and I think I will be forced to jump in with both feet before long.

thanks, karwie

Hey There Everybody

This big olde goes out to ceejay52 The more the merrier...glad that you are joining!

Karwie...I have been in phase two since April and I have lost 13 lbs in that phase I have hit 2 plateaus and gained 2 lbs 2times...not my last weigh in but the one before I gained the 2 lbs because I really believe with the horrible heat that we were having in Ontario...I drank a lot of water but didn't eat enough...now this weigh in it did not budge one notch...I think that I haven't lost anything because I am so very stressed out about the peeping Tom in our neighbourhood and the fact that he has tried to break into our house 2 times now...so I am not sleeping at all (I sleep from 6pm-10pm), eating wrong times, wrong amounts, more munching on good stuff but the wrong times, not walking the way I was due to all the probs in our neighbourhood... I think that it is doable! but it will take commitment and a lot of stamina/will power...but you can do it!

Spookygirl...good for you! I think that it is a cash grab for Bob Greene...as the "buddyslim" website does all the same stuff except it is free...

Morning All,

Man, that's a bummer Kim1, a peeping Tom. Freak. I assume the police are on it, and the neighbours. I know you won't rest until 'he' is caught, I wouldn't. My previous neighborhood had one of the highest crime rates in the city. We rented there because it was close to our business. Now we bought in one of the new areas and the safety factor has improved immensely! I used to feel afraid taking the kids to the playground in the daytime...every weirdo that slowed down to look at us freaked me out. I have two long-haired little girls who love to wear pink, so they were like a target out there. One day the front door handle rattled as someone tried to get in while we were home!! I am SO glad to be out of there...but as DH points out, these criminals are EVERYWHERE, not just in economically depressed areas. I walk at twilight, and probably have a false sense of security here. I am going to stop that practice...maybe your 'freak' just saved my life! I should at least get walking partner...

so far so good on Phase Two...three days. It's hard not to look at the scale every day...I lost 3 on Phase One. I am reluctant to change my ticker yet! Weird how that works!

I know you probably already thought of this but what about walking in a mall, or a path somewhere outside your area?

Hey There Everybody...

Congrats on the move to Phase 2 and the the 3 lbs!

Karwie...CHANGE THAT TICKER!!! You worked really hard to get in the mindset and lose those pounds...go look at 3 pounds of meat in your freezer...that is what you lost!!!!! BE PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!

Karwie...I know I hate all this restriction crap...In fact the longer it goes on my fear is waning and I am getting more and more livid ......The police met with our neighbourhood watch group and did tons of safety planning for each of the families' involved...So each family member in each of the 8 homes has a plan...What seemed to alarm the police is he is a repeat serial peeper but he has escalated to breaking in when it is obvious that the person that he likes to peep at is home (My daughter had just got home at 11:15pm and I made sure that she got in the house and then he tried to walk into my mother's kitchen barely 20 mins later)....So needless to say I have become intimate with my pepper spray which I carry in my sports bra...

Well I did my weigh in and I again have not budged one fraction of a pound. I have just the last two nights begun to sleep through the night again. So my eating will be on track...but I was coming home and napping for a few hours then up all night waiting...so my eating is really off...still eating healthy but eating/munching all night on veggies/fruit is not good...but I have not gained! I am off starting tomorrow and I will be off until next Wednesday so I should be able to decompress, rest, relax...or I will drive myself crazy by thinking too much!

Hello!
Thanks for keeping the thread alive! We have been off on holidays, camping and travelling around. Kim, I hope your peeping tom is gone, I think about that ALL THE TIME! It truly has changed my perspective.

Anyhow, I have been doing really well considering the travel. I feel like I'm making some good choices, food wise, but not getting nearly enough exercise. I did have a lumbar issue, and I've felt good for the last day or two, so I am ready to resume my walking TONIGHT!! (while its still light out).

Hello WIP, funny how the Canadians have embraced Bob Greene!! Well, he makes so much damn sense...I have been in Phase two for a month, give or take, and its hard, but I cannot get over how GOOD I feel. I went way off the program for two days and felt like absolute crap! I told my DH that I couldn't wait to get home to reload on better food. I even made veg. soup (stolen from the weight watchers plan), froze it into individual servings and brought it to the lake!! It stayed fresh in the cooler for 4 days. Just warmed it on the fire and enjoyed!! Now that's dedication, even if I do say so myself...

Okay, gotta walk! Glad you guys are still here!
