  • So if I go to bed now, my streak will be good for 3 days. The heat is helping because it's so easy to drink when it's like this. Neighbor brought over some luscious grape tomatoes; another had brought cukes and tomatoes this a.m. Guess what's going to be my mainstay tomorrow? Have just a few blueberries left from all the fruit, etc. I bought at farm last weekend. And some nectarines and carrots I bought today so the veggies are so very welcome. Second neighbor also brought me the news that I'll be having a new little neighbor come March. First had brought news that her DH is home from hospital and that's he's up there on the transplant list. A day of good news!

Just plum out of steam with all this heat and humidity. Enough done for the day but I think I'll go sort some papers anyway. Just to stay in practice.
  • Thursday dawns
And it has come to my attention that we're getting up in the dark again and that that situation will not change again before next summer. Ah well, may mean I'll get to see the moon more often.

I've got an 8:30 hair appointment this morning. I asked for an early one so I'll get a chance to talk to my hairdresser before he starts. I want layers, which he seems disinclined towards. But it's the only way to make my curls work nicely. I brushed out my hair yesterday and, seriously, it looked like a broom. And I feel relatively sure it could be more attractive

On Tuesday, I've got an appointment for my manicure, pedicure and facial. Can't wait! These things really give me such a boost. Combine all that with the fluffy and a bit I will have released and next Wednesday will find me a new woman.

My sister said the jacket that went with the pants went last winter so not much chance of finding it. Nevertheless, I think I'll have a look through the jackets at the thrift store. There could be something that'll work...

Anagram, huzzah for good news and streak! It's cool again here -- shall I send you some? I love that motto, am adopting as well. It just seems appropriate and feels right.

Amarantha, I'm glad it wasn't the bad kind of puppy messes. I'm always surprised by how much mess is generated by my "puppy" when he visits. He was here for an hour or so yesterday and you could certainly tell he'd been here.

My brother and his girlfriend and two kids are coming for lunch today. They're visiting from Ottawa. So I'll have to get me over to the store after my appointment. And I'll have to get work tasks out of the way before I leave, so heigh-ho, heigh-ho.

Let's make it a good one!

  • I'm here! Just trying to get back on track...braved the scale this week...only up 7 pounds...could be a lot worse. So I've been concentrating on one thing at a time...water - 8 per day is the first goal...so far I'm not doing too badly. And no alcohol...started that Monday. That is excellent. Next I need to get my logging and calories back under control. Think i may do a no food after 7 for the next couple nights....my night-time eating monster is starting to rear her ugly head!

We've gotten nearly 3 inches of rain this week...YES! And there is still no water in the ditch...actually a good thing...there is less water surface for the mosquitoes to lay their eggs too! More coming shortly. So I must get the heathens in...half are fed the others are waiting. And then off to get some provisions at the food store!

You guys sound like you are revitalizing. July was just bad for me! And I wonder...is the earth spinning faster? Maybe that is why we keep weighing more

wsw...great to see you back...how'd the boob squeeze go? I gotta get that done shortly too...yuck.

'K...have a great one ladies...keep getting better Arabella...veggies are great Anagram...someone gave me some purple tomatoes the other day!...I think I shoud do a rataouille thing with them....I have zucchini....hmmmm.... Kay! Hi Empress! Flower...how are things going?

    Gotta go!
  • Ceara, ye are doin' great 'n congratulations on bravin' the Demon as ye know what a pain he can be. Huzzah!

    Anagram, congrats on your streak!!!!

Wood Nymph, t'is good where I live when the dark stays later as gives us a chance to get some X in before the sun hits, so I'm in huzzah mode re fall ... on t'other palace place we're doin' Luscious Lastin' Results o' Late Summer (or somethin' like that, forget the words).

I am very stoked and my streaks are goin' well, but I have to get to the blog to see where I actually am, so here I go! Wo!

Working today on what should be a day off! Sigh.
  • Yo Queenies! We've had a wild and windy day. I got my hair cut and I think it's ok but I'm reserving final judgement until after I wash it tomorrow.

Lunch was cancelled because of aforesaid wildness and wind. I wasn't really sorry, truth be told.

More on the pants/jacket saga: Despite the fact that my sister said the jacket to match the pants I bought was long gone, I just had a hunch that I should go to Value Village and look for it. And I found it! The jacket is size 11. Like the pants, I can get into it and fasten it but it's a bit snug. Well, it's pretty snug, actually. But it shan't be. And it's going to be a great suit to have.

Ceara, I bet those 7 pounds are mostly non-real and will just fizzle away with a few days OP. I love looking at the steady progress on your ticker.

Amarantha, hope your work didn't continue too long and that you got some R&R on your should-be day off.

    Have a good night, Lovelies!
  • Just time for a quick flyby this am (though I'd like to reply to all the news!). I'm heading to Princessville today until Sunday. Day 4 wasn't as good as prior 3 days but not a disaster thanks to all those good veggies.

Trip to P. V. is always a BIG challenge (do plan to have A piece of b.d. cake tomorrow) and dr. has put me back on prednisone again. Tha's always an appetite challenge too but last time (and I was on it a lot longer than usual) I managed not to gain very much. Crossing those fingers.

See you Sunday (or Fresh Start Monday). Where'd that week go?
  • Huzzah, all!

Wood Nymph, tomorrow is the "should be" day off that I have to work instead of do the 5k. It will not be a bad work day, though, I hope. It can't be any worse than yesterday was and if some things fall into place, I'll be in better shape. If not, I'll be missing a major portion of a big project, because I had to have a day off today as some things pushed me into a mini nervous breakdown, if folks can be said to have those anymore.

So I did get some extra rest but also dealt with work problems ... that is my problem, the work is in the computer, in my house, on the beat, everywhere. I never get away from it and I am sort of falling apart lately.

That said, I am fixing some more Mushroom Mozzarella Veggie Bites and I have all-fruit frozen bars so will go eat and rest some more after I look at my bloggie.

I believe I am on Streak Six of the Series, maybe five, anyhow yesterday went well and that was a three-dayer and I'm doin' an other three-dayer, same "rules."
  • hi royal ones

just a quick check-in. sorry no individual posts. thinking of you all, though. i am just one big ms "technical glitch." heat is really reeking havoc with my ms, which had been on downslide for quite a while already. anyway, just wanted to say i am at least staying op, even if only hanging on by one dainty fingernail. will post more at later date. take care, all.
  • Huzzah, Wsw!!!! Sorry thy technical difficulties are worse with the heat, t'will abate soon as late summer cometh in 'n then glorious fall, hopefully?

I'm startin' a new streak today, also ran a bit with the puppy as she now fits into her collar, which was the smallest size I could get in that model and up to now she was too little for, sort of maketh me sad, but I'm also lookin' forward to her bein' a lovely adult Queen. Her collar is royal blue. I wish it had rubies 'n diamonds on it, but t'is only made o' nylon.

Working later, just restin' 'n catching up with self this a.m., did some o' the work very early and then had a nap.
  • All hail, one wayward Queen returneth!

I really only have time to say hello, but I wanted to let you know I'm still around and often wonder how everyone is doing. I'm hoping to settle into some semblence of a routine once again...soon. My father seems to have improved somewhat, still very confused at times, but much less agitated, usually. Actually, just when you think you've gotten a pattern down, he careens off into another direction. Up, down, all around. My poor mother is ready for the funny farm. We've been trying to have someone there each day, just to give her a breather and take the pressure off her for a bit.

Thanks to all for your kind words, I truly appreciate and value your friendship!

I would love to sit and type away, but the gorgeous day outside is calling to me. I just filled bird feeder, potted up some basil, watered a bit. I'd like to just go sit now, with my book and read a few pages with no distractions. Kids are both home now and the house seems to have shrunk a bit, what with their stuff all about! I'm thrilled to have them both home, but realize how much I enjoyed the empty nest too!

Here's to this gorgeous day...hoping it's just as nice for all of you!

PS...don't forget to watch the meteor showers tonight! (2am, be there!)

  • Fresh start Monday!
Two parties this weekend. I behaved myself pretty well but it ended up being late dinners and more salt than usual. So I've got a couple of temporary pounds on. Giving self until Friday to be rid of them and one of their friends I WILL stay on track and I WILL lose 5 pounds this month.

I had a piece of raspberry pie with whipped cream on Saturday. It was really good but not very sweet at all. And last night I refused chocolate marble cheesecake with whipped cream, raspberries and blueberries. Really wanted a piece, too. And then my sweet niece came over and asked me if I wanted a bite. I had 2 bites. It was extremely yummy -- and I'm still patting myself on the back for not having a piece

I'm back up to regular exercise again, thank goodness. Of course my appetite is back too I'm just not letting it take over.

DH is off this week and intends to paint the house. I'll help, too, which should help me get to Friday goal.

I'm pretty happy with how my hair turned out. Shoulder-length, curly rather than frizzy and with good tendril action. Tomorrow I've got my appointment for manicure, pedicure and facial. The manicure always lasts about 5 minutes but it's nice to have it done anyway...

Kat, I woke up at quarter to five this a.m. in the hopes of catching the showers at their peak. Had visions of making coffee and heading out to the beach. But, alas, 'twas all overcast. I sat outside for a bit anyway, meditated and did some qi qong. But I'm a little sleepy now.

Amarantha, I bet Queenie will be a great running partner since you're training her from a pup.

WSW, remember to take good care of yourself!

Anagram, thou art stalwart and have been valiant throughout this very challenging year! Hope PV was lovely and that you're happily settling back into your nest.

Kaylets, y'know, I didn't do great on that. Despite the fact that it wasn't the first time I've seen it.

K, Queenlies, let's take this day and do our level best with it.

  • G'mornin', Lovelies. A GORGEOUS morning in Central PA - still in the 50s but 'twill be warm again later. Did some weed cleanup and will soon do another brief yard work stint. Going to try to get to pool now that wound from cyst removal is totally healed.

Had a great weekend in PV. Even got a bit of time w/DS. going back in two weeks for the Official Birthday Party with friends and Waterslide. should i say I wouldn't mind NOT going but SEVEN needs me there. How nice.

I had the salt problem too from the weekend but a sneak this morning showed a nicer number. Tomorrow is a buffet dinner as part of the theater package I won last fall. I'm going to be careful but will enjoy.

Glad your haircut is more rewarding to you, WN. Sounds very pretty. Choc marble cheesecake sounds scrumptious and what a sweet niece to share such a treat. Two bites shows real resolve. I was pleased with my ability this weekend to brave both PV and prednisone and feel I came through it fairly well - though certainly not perfectly.

Housepainting - big chore but big exercise opportunity and big reward when done. Need to finally get around to thinking of some much needed improvements here. Must REALLY get around to decision as to moving. Me rattling in a big place is too work intensive and cost ineffective, methinks at first glance.
  • wsw, how'd the mammo go? always a relief when that's over. hope your technical difficulties are subsiding a bit.

Glad Dad's doing a bit better, kat. Any brief respite helps.

Kudos on the streaks, Empress. No longer being able to keep track is a good sign. Day 1 of Streak 1 you're not likely to not know where you are

    How'd the manicure/pedicure go, Arabella?

Well, let us reign firmly this day and make things go our way or at least be ly about how we handle the things that don't.

    Avanti!
  • K, loved the lateral thinkin' game!

Anagramatic, yea, I am goin' to stop countin' the series and just deal w'it streak by streak; the one dayer did not go well, but ended in the 1700s 'n movin' to a new streak. Avanti to ye also!

Arabella, Queenie is a verra nice pup 'n will be a noble runnin' pard, 'cept right now she keeps runnin' behind me 'n tryin' to knock me down. Hope ye get a nap to make up fer yer wanderin's this a.m. ... I don't think we can see those lights here ... t'would be wonderful.

Ceara, ... sent ye a howdy in t'other place. Hope all's well!

Kat, nice to "see" thee again, in the virtual sense! Huzzah!

I worked on deadline all day and far into the night and am doing a quick (I hope) assignment on my day off, which is today. So stayin' on the straight 'n narrow and doing jogwalkin' in segments ... I'm supposed to be takin' it easy for awhile on the runnin' ... Queenie and I will take a nap.

    The cats are always napping.

I lost 1.5 this week. Yay!
