Well, as of this morhning I am down 3 lbs since Sunday so I'm doing pretty well so far in getting rid of the Christmas gainage.
I had my first meeting of my slimmers' group since Christmas and I didn't put on the least, but I didn't put on the most either. But we're all motivated for the New Year now. I tried a new exercide DVD last night and I struggled with it. I managed the warmup easily, but I literally could not keep up with the main part of the routine - they were all professional dancers and they went SO fast, so I flicked forward to the bums/tums bit, which I found quite easy and the cooldown. But the whole thing is 1h 20mins compared to my old one at 50 mins. So I think I'll be going back to my old one. For a while at least. Robbin - congrats on the scales being down. You'll be back to pre-Christmas weight in no time!! jusj - I am so envious that you only gained a pound over Christmas!! Well done Tina - I guess I count the whole thing as 'gainage' and then when it comes off quickly I can say "yay!" But whatever works for you. Cheryl - wow, 6 lbs!! That's fab. Louie - well that lunch jar is nice, but a bit too pricey for me. I just go a with a £3 plastic box!! Tammy - congrats on your new size and being smaller than your sister! Scales are quirky as we know - I am sure you'll see a change soon. WOW - on the pics. You look fab. You are doing SO well!! Have you added your weight loss to the list? Nicole - welcome back and welcome to the group. Erin - I am so sorry to hear about your losses! These things do make us hug our loved ones just that bit tighter don't they. ((hugs)) Linda - ewwwwwwwww on the CLO!! I never had it but it always sounded so gross to me. Glad you managed to find some in capsule form, as they do say it's really good for the joints. LOL about the gym ball! I can just imagine two, um, 'mature' ladies bouncing away on them like kids! |
Morning Glories!:) Hope ya'll are doing well and feeling motivated! Scales are still kind of acting weird, well i say scales but it is really my body, so i am moving the ticker up to where i really am. trying to stay away from living in denial. Haven't been getting much exercise in so hope to change that this weekend and really get things moving again!
Linda - you crack me up lady!!!! I can just picture two laughing 60 year olds bouncing on a great big ball. I love the big ball and use it with my patients all the time. I think the oldest I'vd had on it so far was a 94 year old man! He cussed me a lot but was really disappointed if we didn't do it!! I have a 101 year old I plan to get on it in the next few weeks! Ya'll keep bouncing it is a fabulous exercise tool! Tina - okay you are inspiring me once again. I have never been one for meal planning but I've got to make some changes to get things back on track so maybe that is the route i am going to try! Cheryl - i am anxious to see how you do with the flipping meals thing. I have heard of people doing that before but seemed like mixed results. Controlling cravings is a huge deal so I may add that to Tina's meal planning and see if i can do some damage to that scale! Louie - I missed the beginning on the lunch box would you miind filling me in? I am so sorry for the loss you experienced, moving on in a positive way is the best legacy we can have for those we love. Glad to see you are back and more than a fly by! Tammy - OH MY GOSH GIRL you look fabulous!!!! You should be so proud! I will have to get out and find those before pics to get the full impact! Okay i am lost on the crazy frog thing too, CHERYL can you give us clue? Robsia - 3# you go girl! Love the Bums and tums bit, is this a dancing exercise video or just done by dancers? I was getting rather proud of my 30 min so 1hr20 min seems impossible! So good job on getting the 50 min routinely! Well ladies gotta get moving on with another day of baack to reality! It is always so hard to get back into the grind of weekly working when you have been playing hooky a large part of the time for a month now! Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement on the loss of my friend. Keep at it women we can do this!!! |
It is actually billed as being "the ultimate dance workout".
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pump-Up-Ulti.../dp/B0006O9MWW If I could mix and match, I'd use their warmup, the main section from my usual DVD, and BOTH bums and tums sections from both DVDs and the cooldown from mine, as theirs goes on for absolutely ever. But I can't be bothered faffing about changing DVDs over so I'll just go back to my usual till I get a bit fitter - then maybe I'll try the new one again. I didn't buy it fortunately, my sister lent it to me and I copied it (shush - don't tell anyone ;)) |
Hey ladies I am soooo sorry that this will be another fly by but I have just been so busy. Between work, home, kids, and trying to get everything settled with the Family Support Group so we will be ready for our soldiers to leave for Iraq in May I have been litterally falling into bed at night.
The scales were 220 yesterday and stayed the same this morning. I am staying on track with my eating but just can not seem to find some time for exercise. I really want to exercise though. My son got a new weight bench and weights for Christmas and I really want to start using them to see if it helps me any. Well I gotta get to work. Boss will be in soon and I have to have everything caught up before he gets here. Check back later. |
Thanks for the welcome everyone. :D I’m feeling pretty confident and good about things right now. 2007 IS going to be the year I get this weight off. I only have to average 1.5 lbs a week, totally realistic. I’ve already lost, though I’m only going to count my Sunday weights. And the part I’m most proud of: I have my menu planned out for next week and a grocery list made for shopping. And it still gets better. I’m taking my mom shopping tomorrow, and I’ve already pulled up the menu for where we’re eating lunch and found something both yummy and that’s healthy. Now I just have to work on getting my schedule for exercise worked out before classes start next Wednesday.
Linda- You’re much braver than me. I’m staying faaaar away from the castor oil. Even when I was 15 days overdue with my daughter, it wasn’t something I’d consider. And you reminded me to call my mom and see if my exercise ball is at her house. Cheryl-That’s an interesting menu, or at least the order in which you’re eating it. I’ll be interested to see how it works out. Since my husband is still working nights, we’re going to start have “dinner” at lunchtime, so we can still eat as a family. Tammy- Wow! The pics are amazing. How inspiring. Robsia- Way to go on the 3 lb loss! Robin- Sounds like things are pretty busy for you. I hope it eases off soon, and you have the time and energy to fit in some exercise. |
Good Morning, Chickies . . .
Wow, my back is killing me this morning . . . probably too much 'ball bouncing' or too much  about the 'ball bouncing'. I think I'm going to love it, but for today, I think Ball and I will just smile at each other from a safe distance. :D Since many of you had the same comments/questions in response to my novella from yesterday, here are a couple of general answers (so I don't end up writing a sequel. :o ) Cod Liver Oil is a very old-fashioned vitamin A/D supplement that was popular when I was a kid (back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth). It is extracted from the liver of the cod-fish and it does taste really fishy. Most 'normal' people do not like the taste, yucky, (I was never 'normal' I guess). Luckily I can neither taste it or smell it in the capsule form that I got. Castor Oil is from about the same era but is in no way related to CLO. It is really nasty, evil stuff  and used to be given to bad children who complained too much of a stomach-ache. After one dose, they never complained again. :barf: -- At least that's what I hear -- I was never given CO. -- Apparently it was originally extracted from the intestines of a beaver but is actually a natural plant product derived from the bark of some kind of tree. Crazy Frog is a weird cartoon frog and most of you have probably seen him in some little TV shorts. I think it's aimed at kids, but, hey, I guess I'm 63 going on 3 . . . I love cartoons of all kinds and Crazy Frog songs really get me moving. Here's a link to the 'official - meaning, tryingto sell you something - website' --- SEE THE FROG --- you'll probably recognize him when you see him. CHERYL . . . That upside down eating-plan sounds great. I'm a cereal lover anyway . . . wonder how three meals of oatmeal a day would work. :o LOUIE . . . My next question was going to be . . . have you had any experiences ordering stuff from US sites? I mean, I don't mind paying the exchange rate, but I hate it when Revenue Canada tries to tack on duties and special fees . . . had a bad experience buying yarn from Lion Brand, once. :( TAMMY . . . Wow, girl, those face shots really tell the story. You look fantastic. :D Yes . . . I'm pretty sure that HFCS is Fructose-Glucose on Canadian labels. Guess I need to get over my Cool Whip addiction. :^: ROBSIA . . . Great going on dropping the 3 pounds . . . the rest will be gone in no time. :) ERIN . . . Thanks, girl -- suddenly I don't feel so old and silly about my buddy "Ball". :o The cats think I'm insane, of course. Actually, they are right. ROBBIN . . . Hi there, you 'high-flyer' you. NICOLE . . . Go get that ball, kiddo. You will do great around here, especially impressed with your pre-planning for the lunch while out shopping. ;) Well, I'd better get going since it definitely looks like I've :comp: another short story at least. Is this how you started out, Robsia? Have a great moving and shaking day, girls. We will be rewarded if we just keep doing the best we can as much as we can. See you all really soon. |
hi y'all:D
anyone mind if i sneak back in here? sorry for dropping out last year but 06 was a pretty crappy year, stuff kept happening and throwing me off the wagon and my moods goodness my moods were all over the place so really couldnt stick to the weight loss thing. doc says i have bipolar disorder which is why i was always so up and down all the time. anyway got back into working out and dieting on january 1st, hoping for more success in 07. getting on the scales on jan 1st was a shock, i am my heaviest ever, 284lbs :( thats really not good, i gotta make this the year i beat this thing or i aint gonna be around for my son, im sure im a heart attack waiting to happen at this weight and that scares the life outta me. so 07 is the year, i may not ever get to a super skinny 95lbs but my aim is to get to get my weight down and get fit and healthy. so weighed in last monday at 284, mondays gonna be my weigh in day, iv done my 20mins treadmilll and 150situps today and hoping to see a pound or 2 off on monday. im gonna go have a browse thru your posts now and see how everyones doing, i couldnt find you with the name change n all (luv the new name!) but tina gave me the link, (thanks tina!) look forward to catching up with y'all soon luv n hugs xxxxxxx |

Happy Friday!
Wow, this place is sure hoppin' today! Love it! I'm having a good day considering the scales played a 'nasty' this morning. I stepped on and they went up 2lbs.! Yikes! You eat right, exercise and still you can't get good results. Well, anyways...the scale can throw whatever it wants at me...I'm still determined to continue without the batt of an eye. There is no alternative, besides I'm doing this to better me in the long run scheme of things...live a healthier life and the scale can decide it's going to come along nicely or take it's time...either way I'm gonna try my hardest to eat sensibly and exercise despite it! Take that scale!!! LOL!
Linda, okay...the picture you painted of you and your friend was priceless! LOL! I gotta thank you for that first and foremost! Cod liver oil, being a easterner, my mom forced it upon me too and I still have bad flashbacks. The aftertaste alone is enough to swear from it for life, and that is exactly what I did. Blechh!! Cheryl, how's your upside-down day going so far? LOL! They say we should mix things up a bit while trying to lose and you really took it literally! Love the idea though, be interesting to see what results you get from it. If it takes care of cravings then hey, it's all worth it! :) The pizza was really good, my daughter says that I make pizza better than Pizza Hut. Although it made me feel good, inside I was laughing at her ability to suck up at the age of five...haha! Louie, good luck with finding your lunch box here in Canada. It's such a pain to find alternatives. Hope you are having a great day off and making the most of the time! Tammy, wow! Thanks for posting your before and during pics! Like Linda says, they sure tell a remarkable story. I'm so inspired by you. You're a rock and the energizer bunny who just keeps on going. You look amazing, you have done amazing...you oughta have your trip to Paris...you so deserve it!! By the way, you are a beautiful woman, lovely face and a knocker of a smile! Robsia, congrats on the 3lbs. back in the right direction! I've always wanted to try a dance workout, but I'm afraid with my co-ordination it'll never be. I'm sure you will have the routine figured out and bee-boppin along in sinq sooner than you'll give yourself credit for. Erin, I love your enthusiasm! Just keep coming here and motivating me all you like! LOL! Like you, I'm blaming the scale for all my grief...it's just easier to accept that way..hehe! Brave girl for moving that ticker back up, it's a tough one to allow. One I hope that I can do if I can't nip this in the bud soon! Hey Robbin! Glad your finding time to be true to you throughout your whirlwind of business. I hope that you're able to find a few minutes before collapsing to fit in the exercise you want. You've got the eating down, lets celebrate in that fact alone. Coming off of a Christmas "binge" is hard enough! Nicole, I can't tell you how successful I feel for having my meals planned ahead of time. It just helps to know what you're having before hand and eliminate the times when you start picking through the pantry/fridge/freezer trying to come up with something and 'accidentally' grazing while doing that...if that makes any sense!? LOL! For me, that's usually what happens...I get so hungry that I snack while cooking. Awful. Liza, glad you found us again!! You can do this, you're right this is the year for YOU! You also have the right frame of mind. Don't think of this as a 'diet' to get 'skinny', it's a new lifestyle that will in turn make you and your son healthier (and bonus! thinner!) and enjoy eachothers company for a long time to come! Just keep posting and keep up the great new effort you've started since the new year! I see novels are becoming the thing around here...hehehe! Love having this much activity in here! Keep coming and keep posting! Have a great day all, lets keep trudging along for a better us! TTFN! |
Hey girls poppin in for a quick afternoon post. Has been kind of a long stressful day but at least now i am home where i can deal with the stress without a bra.... that always makes things easier to cope!
Robbin - I am so sorry for all the struggles you are having right now. I can not imagine the stress you must be feeling. I really admire you for not just throwing in the towel and saying the heck with it! Keep at the good work and I know you will see things moving along real soon!! Nicole - you go girl! Got the menu and the shopping list! I am impressed. Sounds like I really need to get on the meal planning band wagon! Linda - yes very likely the date with Ball did in your back! Hopefully it will fade quickly! I will have to check out the frog website and see if i already know the little booger! Oh and you will probably not catch me anywhere near CLO or CO. Although i have used CO on lymphedema patients legs as a skin softener and to break up fibrosis. Liza - WOW SO AWESOME to see you back! Getting control of the bipolar should help you considerably and hopefully you will be well on your way to a healthy and wonderful you in no time! Tina - every time i fuss about getting serious about eating and exercising and the scale goes up someone wants to start the "you must be gaining muscle speech" and i just want to slap them!!!! We have talked several times about doing some measurements to help during those scale stagnant times. what do you say we pick a few key land marks and start tracking them as well? Like i said to nicole i think i am going to have to start meal planning for sure. I am so bad about having no clue what i want so i pick and pick and then up with something not near as healthy and have probably snacked on more than enough for a meal. well gang gotta run, kids are too quiet and I want to be sure we are not having another styrofoam snow storm somewhere!! |
Hello everyone,
I would like to be part of this forum as well. I just started this week and my goal is to lose 46 lbs by Sept. 25th, my 39th birthday. I don't want to hit the big four zero the weight I am at. I need to make this a permanent lifestyle change. I am trying the Weight Watchers plan because I have been successful with it in the past. I have high cholesteral and was given one last chance by my doctor to get my weight down (and the numbers down) or he'll put me on medication. My two brother's are in shape by have heart problems and I want to minimize my risk of heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke. Both brothers have high blood pressure and one has a defective valve. One is in the military and one is a graphic artist/advertising designer. Anyway, I am emotional eater and have gained a lot of weight in the last month because my girlfriend of 25 years died needlessly when she was struck by a car while walking across a side street. It is still under investigation and we still don't know whether she jay walked or the driver was in error or both. It was two young people in a pick up truck with music blarring. It makes me wonder. The police aren't giving us or her husband any information. This happened on Dec 08, 2006. I still am going through the wide range of emotions that come with death. I refused to hit the anger stage because that isn't what God wants. I am praying for the family as well as the driver of the vehicle. They are going through he-- as well. Sorry, don't like to swear. Sorry I'm rambling. Thanks for listening(reading). It is time to start a new way of life for myself because I realize it can be taken away in the blink of an eye. |
Good evening, ladies
What a day, it has been pouring all day long :rain: Definately a good day to stay inside and keep warm. I didn't really do anything today.. must have needed a rest day. I worked straight through the holidays, so this must have been the rest day that I needed. Tomorrow I definately need to hit the books and I may do a bit of shopping. Tammy ~ wowsers !! your pictures are awesome. You look so much younger. Robsia ~ 3 lbs..you go girl !! Well done :cp: It's funny that you mention about the price of the lunchkit. I thought that myself.. but then thought I wouldn't have any problems spending that much money on pizza or a meal out, so why do I find it so hard to spend that much money on my health :?: Guess it is just a mind set that we have. Erin ~ I was talking about buying myself a lunch box to motivate me to take my lunch to work.. which I have been terrible at doing !! I think in the end I will probably just buy myself some containers in various sizes, but it has been fun trying to find something. Robbin ~ sounds like you are keeping busy. We certainly appreciated the flybys :D Nicole ~ I am very impressed with the planning that you are doing... definately a key to success !! Linda ~ now I know who Crazy Frog is. I actually saw a video the other day but didn't put the two together. Liza ~ I remember you, so glad that you are back  Tina ~ sorry to hear about your 2 lbs, but you will kick those back to the curb in no time :club: Erin ~ had to laugh about your "no bra" comment. That is what I love being at home.. no underclothes and being able to wear my pajamas. I love pajamas !! Tracy ~:welcome2: to the group. I look forward to getting to know you. So sorry to hear about your friend  Love that the board is so busy, but feel like I have written a short novel  Well I better go get myself some dinner before it gets too late. Have a good evening and talk to you on the weekend  |
Today’s been a lazy day for us. My 3 year old has a fever (104!), and he just wanted to snuggle all day. That and watch Cars. We watched it 3 times. Sadly no exercise today, unless you want to count cleaning the kitchen. I even went through the pantry and pulled out all the junk. I had stuff like truffles left from Christmas, those complete meals in a box, stuff like that.
Linda- I agree, it probably was the ball that did your back in. Hopefully it’ll be back to normal soon. I don’t recognize Crazy Frog at all. Clearly 3 years as a SAHM has made me lose touch with the “real world.” Liza- Hey chickie. Welcome back. (even though I was around then ;) )Hopefully now that you know what’s causing those moods swings, it’ll be easier to control and stick to eating healthy and working out. Tina- Don’t let the darn scale get you down. I agree with Erin, using other methods to measure progress is helpful. Or at least I think it will be. As much as I hated doing it, I’m taking weekly measurements too, and, the scary part, taking a picture in the bikini I want to wear again the first of every month. Erin- Yes, get on the meal planning bandwagon. I feel sooo much more confident this way. When I go to the grocery store I have a shopping list, no grabbing random crap. Even if I go to the store hungry, I stick to the list. Then during the week, I don’t end up snacking here and there while I search for stuff to throw together a meal. And I hope you didn’t have a styrofoam storm to deal with. I can completely relate to kids being quiet equally nothing good. Tracy- Welcome! I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. Louie- Rainy days always make me feel so lazy; I have the hardest time motivating myself. I hope you enjoyed your rest day. I’m off to go fold the laundry on my bed, so I can go to bed. (It’s my trick, if I pile the laundry on the bed instead of in a basket, I HAVE to fold it before bed.) |
hi gals thanks for the welcomes back.:D
nicole, hope your little one feels better soon, and yes cleaning the kitchen burns calories so it all helps! louie, everyone deserves a rest day, hope you enjoyed it. tracey, welcome, and so sorry to hear about your friend. elem, hope your stressful day got better without your bra heehee. i also luv bein home in my pjs tina, that scale demon is evil, but you have such a great attitude im sure you wont let it beat you. well iv just done this mornings workout, 10mins treadmill and 50 situps, not as good as yesterday but guess my bodys still adjusting to all this activity after months of sitting on my big behind. have a good day y'all xxx:carrot: |
