SASSY:
Glad you joined us! Sugarbusters is great for diabetes. Have you read the book, or anything? The program in a nutshell is to avoid white sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes, pineapple, corn and bananas. These are all high glycemic foods. Choose foods that are low glycemic, like beans, and whole grains, and eat ample vegetables. Read labels. Foods need to have 3 or less grams of sugar to be ok. Exceptions would be something like tomato sauce, where the naturally occuring sugars in the tomatoes would make it more. Then you read the label and find ones with no ADDED sugar. It is an 'eat until you are satisfied' program, with guidelines. They tell you to fill the bottom of a dinner plate, but not over the rim. Sometimes it is easy to justify overeating with that satisfaction thing...it is important to be careful there. One of our regulars, Gatorgal, has been working on this a while and has some good points to make, so when she gets back on here, perhaps we can get her to share on the subject!
As BOB said, the weekends can be a little slow, but please jump in and ask questions and share your support needs. Its a great group here. We are glad to have you join us! BOB: I will get some of those pictures posted in just a bit. I am in the middle of making ww pizza dough... He is a cutie as is his big brother!
