THIN: Yeah, I am skeptical of some dieticians... But, I agree with her that exercise is KEY. I know Rachel dances, but walking, running or something that is constant activity sustained over 30 to 45 minutes is going to burn some major calories. Anything that will help tone and build muscles will help too. She is probably getting the toning at the barr. Check out the articles on PCOS in the Dieting With Obstacles section. There are some good discussions and information to be found over in that forum. I recently started moderating there too, primarily for the Diabetes area, and have seen some of those articles.

BOB: You watch LOST? The whole family loves it...except me. I hardly watch any TV...

Hi Ladies,

It is Friday for me. We will be leaving for Nashville in the morning. I am looking forward to it. Should be a fun weekend.

DH won $200 last night at the Elks Club. That will help pay for our trip. Just hope I can control my eating. I saw a new number on the scale (not really new, just one I haven't seen in over 2 years). I would like to see it again on Monday. Hoping that is good incentive. The WW leader had a neat saying that might help some here:

Before you eat something, ask yourself 4 things:
1. How will I feel if I eat it.
2. How will I feel if I Don't eat it.
3. How will lI look if I eat it.
4. How will I look if I don't eat it.

If you stopped and asked these questions, you may not eat the food or if you do, you may not feel the guilt you normally have.

Thin, glad you have finaly found someone to take an interest and see what could be going on with Rachel. I will say, WW had definately helped me with portion control. Counting those points, makes you realize how you over ate before. My DD can't get over the point value of food she was eating that she thought was good for her. It takes a while to get your body used to smaller portions, but it does. One day of exercise will definately help her even though the dancing should be enough.

Bob, glad you got your glasses taken care of and free at that.

Monet, did you decide to go to the mountains?

Gator, Bob, Susan, Missy, good luck this weekend. We get good ole Spurrier. Haven't beaten them since he has been there, so Sat probably won't be any different.

have a great weekend, in case I don't get back here.

Well here we go with day one for Rachel. She had pb toast on my homemade bread and some fresh pineapple for bfast. She started the metformin last night and we'll see if she has any of the stomach upset that they warned her about. I told her to call me if she needs me. I also e-mailed her teachers to explain what was goin on and PLEASE let her go to the bathroom if she ask to, but don't mention it to her ( it would be so embarrassing!) The doctor told her that it would decrease her appetite so make sure she eats lean proteins and complex carbs like ww breads, pastas and veggies. Sound familiar? I am anxious to hear if their plans for these fitness/ nutrition/ health classes come through and how much it will cost! I do think it would be great for these kids to get togethr with others in the same boat and not feel so isolated.

Good Day everyone!!!

The girls have a few days off school, so we are taking it easy this morning. Britt will have a playdate tomorrow, so I will take Lane to the gym with me. I will then also go Saturday and Monday. I won't be able to get back to the gym again until next Friday since I have a busy week next week. My weight is at 118#, and it just may be my new low, as I've been there for 2-3 days now. I'm sure with the holidays around the corner, I won't stay there long .

Things have died down a bit here; thank goodness. We found a home for the puppy, and the lady will be picking her up on Saturday. We will miss her, but it will be nice to get back to some normalcy around here. The lady who bought her just lost her American Eskie in August after having her for 16 1/2 years. She brought pictures of her and talked so much about her, and was crying when talking about her. I am so glad that this puppy will help fill the void she has in her life/heart right now. I know this puppy will be in a great, loving home and will get so much more attention than she does here. She was on her way out of town when she came to see her, so I told her we would take care of her until she got back into town.

I am going to be doing a walk for Juvenile Diabetes on November 4th, and will be collecting donations. If anyone is interested in making a donation, no matter how small....$10, $15.....you can PM me, and let me know.

I guess that is it for now....on to some replies:

Tech: Thanks for sharing your story; how sad you had to deal with someone like that when you were pregnant. I am glad you were able to steer around him safely and not harm yourself or your unborn baby. People are so intolerant and so unhappy! Thanks for the kind words, and encouragement!

Fruit: Congrats on the awesome news!! I pray that everything continues to move on in a quick and positive manner.

Monet: Thanks for the prayers. What a find at the craft store. I hope you are able to get to the mountains and do some pottery and artwork; how therapeutic that would be!!!!

Solly: Sorry work is so frustrating for you right now. A vacation is exactly what you need. Have a great time in Nashville! I loved it when we went a few years back. Thanks for the support and prayers. I'll let you know when I hear anything on my tests.

Ken: Hopefully this is not a new pattern for Chris. My girls are up with the sun, and usually before! They are such early birds. Lane has been getting up at 5:45 - 6:30 lately, even on days we don't have school. There was a day last week that I was aiding in her class, and she was so excited, she woke up at 4:45 and never went back to sleep. Next time I aide, I won't tell her until that day, once she is already awake. Britt is usually up by 6:30 as well, even on weekends. They are so young, and life is so full of so many wonderful things; they are ready to get up and embrace the day as early as possible. Thanks for the hugs and kind words; I definately needed that! I am so glad to see you posting again!

Heart: I'm glad to see you posting too! It sounds like you are doing well, overall, with your eating. Keep it up. Good luck with the pre-op stuff, and the procedure next week. I'll pray that all goes well for you!

BOB: I am so glad the injury to your knee wasn't worse, but I know it must still be painful! Try to take it easy and take care of yourself. Sorry work is such a drag right now. That really sucks!

Thin: Congrats to Rachel on getting her braces off early; that is fantastic! Britt is going to need them; she has a bit of an overbite (she was a thumb-sucker for the first 3 years of her life). Those classes sound like a great idea. Britt has a rare eosinophil condition, and I've just learned of some classes for parents of children with this; they meet once a month at a Children's Hospital here. I guess they get the kids together sometimes as well. I am going to get more involved with that, and set up some meeting for Britt with other children.

Toni: I'm sure your hair looks fabulous!

Well, the puppy is up and wandering and I gotta get the kids a snack.

Have a wonderful OP day!
Nat

Hi everyone,
I have been SOOOO busy and just will make this a quick post.

I went up to the Fl panhandle to visit my father for his 90th birthday. My other 3 sisters also came for the 3 days. We went up Monday and drove back Wed. I got home last night about 9 pm. My sister who lives here and I took all the food. We wanted him to have his favorite foods. He lives in a retirement center where they eat their meals in a community dining room. We had steak and baked potatoes and salad one night, with his favorite pie--chess. Then ham, squash casserole, country style green beans, biscuits and honey, and apricot roll for dessert. Not totally legal!!! But things he likes to eat.

Then the plumber came back this morning to pput some gizmos on a couple of faucets so it would pass inspectiion. The inspector came at 10 and I totally forgot about my workout appt. at 10!!!
Then I went to the grocery store because we are going up to Gainesville tomorrow for the weekend. My DS and her DH are going with us. We play LSU and it's a toss up about who is supposed to win that game.

Right now I'm feeling a little frantic with all the travelling I've been doing. Hardly home at all and things are getting a little out of control. I still have french homework today, french class tonight and I meet with my mentee also this afternoon. I didn't have time to walk!!

I haven't weighed. I suppose I'm up a little bit after the past 3 days. Oh well.

Monet--The game last weekend got out about 7 pm. It started at 3:30. Gator fans are, for the most part, pretty nice. Fairly classy, in my opinion. Definitely not any worse than a bunch of barking dawgs who have just left Sanford stadium there in Athens! So you had no more reason to be afraid than I would have to have been afraid if I had stopped off in Athens after a game there. Naturally, the traffic in any college town right after a game gets over will be bad!

Well, I need to go. Lots to do.

Where is everybody??

Tonight is our homecoming game and the team we're playing has not won a game this year. Maybe we can break our two game losing streak! Go Grizzlies!!

Rachel seems to be doing well with the new med. I've noticed her measuring out her portions. She asked for the measuring spoons this morning so she could measure her pb for her toast. Last night after dance she was not hungry, but I made her eat a piece of cheese with her pill so she would not get nauseous. I think I will have her take it with breakfast and dinner each day, so if she is not hungry in the evening it will already be taken care of. She takes her morning dose around 7am and we usually eat dinner between 5:30-6:30 so I think it will be OK. Does this sound OK to any of you?

Have a great day!! We need some Halloween smilies!!

Hi everyone,

I have been cleaning and still have so much more to do. After this, I will have to go out and tidy and sweep my garage. It is like a dumpster...sighh.

Jess is having a classmate over to play after school so I have a few things to get ready. Sorry I do not have time to post right now but just want to say "Hi" to everyone and will catch up whenever I can. Have a good day everyone!

Hey, everyone! I am back from the mountains, and I had a ROCKING time! I threw over 40 pounds of clay, and got several pitchers, mugs, a few platters/plates, and some bowls and bottles. My pottery buddy will now fire them and glaze them. I love to throw, but I hate to glaze, and she loves to do the glazing...its a match made in heaven!

This morning, we walked 40 minutes on their property. She has a nice pathway through the woods and around the pasture. I met the horses..they have three...and found some really nice areas to set up a chair and easel and paint plen aire. (a fancy term for outside! )

THIN: That is what I do with my glucophage..I take it with breakfast and dinner. It works fine that way, and I don't have much intestinal issues with it. I used to, but it is better now. I hope it works well for her!

I need to go to the grocery store and run some errands, so I will check in later!

Checking in... Tom and I went to Whole Foods for breakfast. It was awesome...they charge like they do for their hot bar...$6.99 a pound. Tom was smart and got all protein. I fudged a bit and tasted the grits, made with organic yellow corn, and a couple pieces of their home fries. Breakfast for the two of us was less than $10. Not bad...and the quiche, which Tom tried and I did not, looked like whole wheat. Double espresso was only $1.59!

We then hit the pool store, and got a liquid solar blanket which MIGHT warm the water enough to swim another few weeks. It was worth a try at $10. Then on to Home Depot where we got an Autumn beauty gardenia, and collards to plant, and I got a masonite board that Tom is going to cut for me to use as a drawing board. The ones I have are not big enough for my large pastel paper! We returned home feeling very good about what all we accomplished. I asked at WF about my Hain's sea salt, and since they were out, the man gave me a small container of another brand for free, to try. Nice!

Laura and I took Kaeleb for a walk on the multi use trail at the park this afternoon. It is about 1.2 miles around, and hilly. It was beautiful out and Kaeleb seemed to really enjoy it. He finally fell asleep about half way around. After a quick trip to the store for junk (for the 'kids' lunches) we came home. I need to head over to Costco as I am fixing dinner for church Monday evening, and am planning on roast beef. I need to get the sirloin tips from there so I can get them started Sunday evening, or Monday early.

Uh oh! UGA and Tennessee huh? The VOLS can win, since it will make BOB SO happy, and I honestly don't care! Ain't I magnanimous?

Ok, off to finish my shopping...
