  • Good morning! Its MMM and I am sorry to report I am up another three. The meds I am on increase your insulin, and we all know too much insulin is not good for weight loss. I walked or workout six times last week, and my eating was durn near perfect. It may be a bit of water retention, but not eight pounds worth, I am sure. So, I feel kind of sad about that, but will keep on truckin' here. I really don't have a choice.

    My weekend was great. My sister in law was very considerate of my dietary needs, and had things that were good for me, instead of cooking whatever she wanted to. We went out for brunch on Sunday after church and I was able to stay on plan with a Florentine tilapia that was pretty good. We walked both days we were there...Saturday was probably 2 to 2 and a half miles through lovely neighborhoods. With hills.

    I am going to throw on some clothes and get my walk in this morning. I am thinking I ought to go the three mile route this morning. I have not decided yet though. I may have James, who failed to get up to go in with his father, drive to work and walk over to pick up the car.

    I hope everyone is up for a great week! I hope MMM is good to everyone!


  • Good Monday Morning Ladies

    Hope everyone had a great weekend. Yesterday we had a baptism, my great niece. Eating was pretty good all weekend, other than the rum punch she had at the party, but food wise, pretty good. THE MMM is up 1 lb today. probably water.

    Monet, I am so sorry you are gaining instead of losing with all the exercise and good eating. I know it is discouraging. Maybe bypass the scale for awhile, you are sure to see a difference in your clothes with all that walking.

    I did get 5 days of exercise in. Not great exercise, but at least it was 5 days. I have my meals planned for the week, and last week I treated myself to 2 new pair of shoes. I found about 6 pairs I liked, so that may be my weekly treat for the next few weeks.

    Going to be swamped today and tomorrow, so I won't be here much, if at all.

  • Howdy ho all- Looks like we're kind of slow this morning. I'm still not ready to weigh in so I'm just here! Love this board. I've had some fruit this morning but just didn't feel like anything else but coffee. I need to drink more water. And am going to make it a point to do that this week.

    Monet- Sorry your medical stuff didn't let you lose weight this week. Especially when you've done so well with your eating. Hopefully it will start down soon.

    Solly- I love shoes... If I was where the shopping centers were I'd have allot more.

    Guess I'd better get ready to go get some meds filled and do a little shopping.... Have a happy day!!!!
  • Good afternoon! I am sitting here with hair color on my head trying not to get it on the computer!!! I will weigh in on Wed- my usual day. There is waaaaayyyy too much Easter candy in this house. I am gonna start sending it to work with hubby- anything I need to get rid of goes there and is gone in minutes!!! (he works with some HUNGRY folks!!!!)

    I don't have much time- have to get the color off my head, but thought I'd say hello. Slow board today- Hello? Hello? Are you there???

  • Good Morning--

    It's Monday!! And it has really felt like it since I got up this morning. Hit Curves and then headed to Mom's to change her bandages. They want her to soak it for 5 minutes each day in a saline and peroxide solution. Then rinse and rebandage. It is looking very good, and she is getting anxious to be able to use it. She is tired of not being able to cut up her own food!! She said she cooked some steak the other night, and forgot that she couldn't cut it up. She said she ate like a caveman!! She is so funny.

    The sun is shining here, and I am going to finish mowing the lawn as soon as it warms up a bit. The wind is making it a bit chilly. We have been working our bottoms off trying to get ready for our new carpet and flooring. I spent all day yesterday on my knees pulling up staples that someone had used (or over used) to keep the worthless pad they used down. I have never seen so many staples.........or more worthless pad!! There was nothing to it, and I don't think they have used this kind of pad for centuries.......... But knowing the nutty lady we bought the place from it doesn't surprise me.

    Today I have been pulling up all the floor molding in the kitchen, dining room so that I can get it ready to put in the laminate flooring as soon as it comes in. We have a very good friend that has installed it before and he is going to help us put it down. I am really looking forward to this. I bought two new lights for the bathroom Friday also. Dh is going to be a busy man when he gets home from work!!

    Eating is so-so. I have not been 100% on plan, but I haven't jumped off the deep end either. I am just doing the best I can. My clothes seem to be a bit looser, so I am hoping that the inches will just melt away!! (Yeah,.... right!!!)

    Monet-- I know that you worry about the weight, but right now I think it is more important for you to get you BG levels under control. Getting you healthy is most important!! Take care of yourself, and enjoy those walks. They make you feels so good, and are so good for you.

    Solly-- I am just dying to get to town to start looking at summer shoes!!!! My Mom always jokes about my shoe fetish!! What did you buy??

    Toni-- Hello girl.....love to see you here with us!!

    Muncher-- What color are we doing?? I just have highlights added and keep the natural color.....brunette!!

  • Happy Afternoon, everyone!

    I have had a laid back day. Laura is sickly and had to get antibiodics. Her mouth is all sore and she has a sore throat. I hope the meds help soon. Poor thing. While I was at CVS with her, I bought myself a new toy. Its a new glucose meter that uses the same strips as the one I have, but has more features. The best thing is that it has a $70 rebate on it. It was $69.99, and I handed over my CVS card and about fainted when the lady said, "Thirty-One seventy eight, please". CVS gave me a $40 discount on it! (Note this BOB...go to CVS and get you a One Touch Ultra 2, and it will be FREE after rebate...if you have a CVS card it will only cost you $30ish, and one vial of strips should be good for you to test for at least three months!) I have spent some time setting it up and exploring the features. I think it will be helpful.

    I did an upper body workout..still very light as I don't want to feel too sore to begin with. Then I got in the pool. Its icy but felt pretty good. I ran on the slope and ran around in the shallow end. My bg dropped 30 points from before I went out, to when I came back in.

    For lunch, I made myself an asparagus frittata. It was yummy! I may make one for dinner too! Maybe for dinner, I will toss in some ham or something and make one for Tom too. He has a meeting. I intended to go to spaghetti night, but with Laura sick, I may stay at home and be a nice mom, even if she is a married woman. Justin has to work, and I do hate leaving sickies alone.

    I started my new hours today (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and believe me, when that clock went off this morning, I didn't want to get up. Let's see...I didn't sleep Thursday, Friday and most of Saturday nights. I'm just worn out!
    I don't think that I'll have to be rocked to sleep tonight!

    The health benefits of peroxide.


    "I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little ole bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store.

    Most doctors don't Tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars.

    1. Take one capful (the little white cap that
    Comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth
    For 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe )

    No more canker sores and your teeth will be
    Whiter without expensive pastes.
    Use it instead of mouthwash.

    2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of
    Peroxide to keep them free of germs.

    3. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide
    To kill germs and leave a fresh smell.
    Simply put a little on your dishrag when
    You wipe, or spray it on the counters.

    4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board,
    Pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.



    5. Fungus on your feet spray a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

    6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide
    For five to ten minutes several times a day.

    7. Gangrene that will not heal with any medicine,
    But was healed by soaking in peroxide.

    8. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture
    Of peroxide and water and keep it in every
    Bathroom to disinfect without harming your
    Septic system like bleach or
    Most other disinfectants will.

    9. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils
    With your 50/50 mixture
    Whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus.

    It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria.
    Hold for a few minutes then blow your nose into tissue.

    10. If you have a terrible toothache and can
    Not get to a dentist right away, put a capful
    Of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it
    Or ten minutes several times a day.
    The pain will lessen greatly.

    11. And of course, if you like a natural look to
    Your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your
    Wet hair after a shower and comb it through.
    You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde
    Hair like the hair dye packages, but more
    Natural highlights if your hair is a light brown,
    Faddish, or dirty blonde.
    It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.

    12. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath
    To help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

    13. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead
    Of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry
    To whiten them. If there is blood on clothing,
    Pour directly on the soiled spot.

    Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse
    With cold water. Repeat if necessary.

    14.Use peroxide to clean your mirrors with,
    There is no smearing,



    It is a little brown bottle no home should be without!

    With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner!"

  • Hi all. Ive got a few minutes here so thought Id get in a post. Im sorry I didnt make it back over the weekend. Just not any time , was on the go . It felt good to have 4 days off . Helps coming back today to more OT. Im heading to bed at 8 tonight. Im tired of the lack of sleep catching up with me by Wednesday and then Im not worth much the rest of the week.
    I did not do too well eating this weekend. Went out to eat 3 times and I always feel like I eat too much. I weigh tomorrow so Ill see what the damage was.
    Everything else is going well. Been working out in the yard here and there. Its been beautiful here. Hoping to get some mulch and a new tree this weekend.

    Monet- Hang in there. Maybe things will level out once you get used to the medicine. Just keep doing what your doing. If the weights not coming off its still benefiting your health! And honestly Im to the point Id rather be overweight and healthy than overweight and not so thats what keeps me going. Your in my thoughts each day

  • Well, this is my first chance to sit down today. We leave at 7am tomorrow andI'm sooo not ready! I have 3 loads of laundry left to do and I'm only 1.3 of the way packed. Travis never got in touch with the guy for the condo, so we never got a faxed copy of the lease I'm trying not to freak out. I'm sure it will all be fine. He sent us detailed directions on how to get in and to get the keys.

    I haven't ahrdly eaten all day. I sut scarfed down a slice of bread with almond butter. The kids are asleep already, so that's a relief.

    I bought a digital camera today so I'll be able to take pictures to share!

    I don't have time for replies and I doubt I'll make it back before we leave. EVery one have a great week!!!
  • Evening! Small group here today.... where is everyone?

    I discovered frittatas today. I made one with asparagus and onions at lunch and repeated it with ham added at dinner. Yum! The best part is my bg is the lowest it has ever been at night, so I am cheering.

    Did I mention I got in the pool today and it was cold as ice? Felt great once you got moving! I am SO going to be in there a LOT. Tomorrow I need to get my walk in early and then hop into the pool to cool off. Ah!

    TALITHA: Have a blast, if you see this know I am jealous, but wishing you the best of times!

    CINDY: You are so sweet. I hope you can weather the OT.

    BOB: I slept through the night last night. Solid. Did not even wake to go potty. PLEASE get your blood sugars checked....it might be why you are not sleeping. It can't hurt to KNOW.

    TEENSY: Thank you for the encouraging words. I DO worry about the weight, but you are right, it feels good to get all that exercise in. Honestly, its such a motivation to check the bg before and after exercising and see how much it helps! I am so glad your mom's hand is healing well!

    MUNCH: Inquiring minds want to know...tell us the color! Post a picture for goodness sakes!

  • Hi Ladies,

    Gotta be quick. Lots to do.

    Made it to the gym last night, 70 minutes, 20 on EFX and the rest wts. It felt good. We should get there 4 times this week.

    Dinner was so good. little pork chops, fresh broccoli mixed with cauliflower, wild rice, lima beans. I was way under my calories yesterday too.

    We have a luncheon today. The food will be horrible, fried chicken potato salad, baked beans, corn bread, dessert. I guess I will be eating chicken only without the skin.

    Bob, I'm gonna keep a bottle of peroxide in my kitchen from now on. Thanks. I second, Monet, get your Blood checked.

    Monet, I'm so happy your levels dropped with exercise. yes it is good motiviation to keep it up. I wish I had a pool to jump in. Hope Laura is feeling better today.

    Teensy, Glad your mom is getting better. Sounds like hubby is going to be very busy. Keeps them out of trouble. Bought a navy pair, navy is so hard to find and a casual pair of brown one with colored jewels. They will match a dress I have ordered to take on vacation, if it ever comes in. Nothing like buying the shoes before you have the dress.

    Not too much going on here. I'm going to get a hair cut and then run some errands. The wallpapering is still going on and really starting to look good. They should be done tomorrow.

  • Just flying by. I am having lunch with my friend. I have not told her about my diabetes. Suppose she will be freaked out if I pull out my glucose meter before lunch and check my levels?

    KAYE: What color paper are you putting up?

    I went for a 40 minute walk this morning and took a shower...I better go get dressed so I am ready when my friend calls.
