Happy Friday!
This is a quickie. Only working half a day so I need to get some stuff done other than party stuff ;) Hope everyone has a great long weekend. After cleanup Monday, I plan to take it easy. Nat, I love to get shish-kabobs at the store. I think they are expensive, but I really enjoy them now and then. Hope Britt has a good last day of school. It went so fast. Heart, getting back on track after a blow-out is the important thing. Just don't let it be your license to keep it up. Bob, glad to hear you have made it 2 days. Hope it continues. Cute joke. Monet, had to laugh about your choice of ice cream. Can't say that I blame you, except I love plain ole vanilla. I do that with my pills. I can't remember if I took that that day or not. Getting old I guess. Have a great day and great weekend. Talk to you Tuesday. |
Here is something for Friday funnies...
Can you cry under water? How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered? If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches? Since bread is square, why is sandwich meat round? Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny" for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to? Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity? Why does a round pizza come in a square box? What did cured ham actually have? How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours? If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing? If you drink Pepsi at work in the Coke factory, will they fire you? Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV? Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground? How come we choose from just two people for President and fifty for Miss America? Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway. If a 911 operator has a heart attack, whom does he/she call? and finally... Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural? |
Wow guess everyone is getting ready for a big three day week end. We plan to barbeque allot. Just got an order in from Omaha Steaks so our freezer is full of all different things. It helps us so much because we live in such a rural area that its hard to get the things we like. Can't believe I'm still OP! Woopie. Last night we grilled salmon, had zucchini casserole, and coleslaw. I had a little to much wine to go with it! Still need to figure out whats for dinner tonight.
Monet- I know just what you mean on the pills. I take allot of medicine and some times I come up missing and wonder what I did. Glad James is recuperateing. Hope he's better soon. Jack-K- Good luck on the party!!!! Hey Pancho, Fillise and Heartmom.... Now I need to go buy groceries... Happy day everyone..... |
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!
I was at 123# again today; not sure why I am yo-yoing so much; I usually don't do that. I must just eat more when I workout more, because I know it can't be muscle gain so soon. I did get to the gym M, W & F. I plan to go on Saturday and early Monday since DH is off work on Monday. I actually hurt my leg working out today; I hope it doesn't get any worse. I was doing side lunges, and I heard something pop (between my groin and out thigh...it's not the hamstring; it's more toward the front). I was still able to do the treadmill after that, and it doesn't hurt much unless I overextend that leg. I am doing an upper body workout tomorrow, so shouldn't matter if it still hurts a little bit. I found the best little snack at Sunflower Markets. I bought them for the kids, but I love them. They are called Nana's cookie bars. Some are gluten free, and some are whole wheat, and they have a lot of different flavors. We got Chocolate Chippers, a chocolate fudgy one, and Nana Banana. They are delicious! All of the flavors that we got are all 6 grams sugar per bar, which isn't bad at all. They are organic and use all natural ingredients. I will definately keep them around. They will be great to take on our trip with us this summer. Some are made with no wheat, gluten, egg, dairy, etc...and are FANTASTIC for Britt since she is allergic to most of that. Jack mentioned the Annie's cheddar bunnies. My kids love those. They also have a BBQ flavored one, and I get the whole wheat ones. My kids actually like the whole wheat ones better than the cheddar. They are great for snacking too. Heart: It's hard to eat right when traveling. It sounds as if you are back on track. Now, just try to keep it up over the long weekend ;) . Monet: It sounds like a great bargain at Old Tyme Pottery. I love a good bargain! We are supposed to be getting a few more Whole Foods in town over the next 2-3 yrs. There will be one a little closer to me (the current one I go to takes me 45 mins. to get to). It is, by far, my favorite of all the organic/farmer type markets. I am glad that James is starting to improve. He'll just need to take it easy for awhile and he will be back to his old self again.....just a better feeling self. I'm glad he was able to get that taken care of. Didn't you have a hernia repair as well? BOB: Thanks for the Thursday funny! Glad you are feeling a bit better and have been able to stay at work. Jack: Have fun with the party and try not to work yourself too hard....DELEGATE!! Enjoy yourself! Well, we have got to go soon. I have to stop by UPS this morning, and then to a little HFS that is going out of business to get a few more things, and then to Britt's school (it is early dismissal). I will then take Britt and Lane to the mall for a few hours, and out to lunch. Have a great OP day and try to be as good as you can over this long Holdiay weekend. Take care, Nat |
Friday Funny
I hope this isn't a repeat.. :)
An expectant father did not want his coworkers to know that he had a girlfriend, much less that she was pregnant with his son. Though he accompanied her to the hospital, he had to report to work while she was still in labor. As he left he asked the labor and delivery nurse to call his office and let him know by using a secret code. "When my son comes, do not call up the office and say that I have become a father of a boy, otherwise everyone will know. Just tell the receptionist that the clock has arrived and I will know that my son has been born." The child arrived, but it was a girl. The labor and delivery nurse thought, "If I tell his office that the clock did not arrive, he'll think that something has happened to the baby and he'll be terribly upset and worried." So she sent the message: "The clock has arrived, but the pendulum is missing." Love, Crystle |
Good morning
Stormy helped me get all the phone calls in the other night. I called at first and only got through a few times. About the third hour it was a lot easier to get in. We just dialed....hung up and dialed again....over and over and over...LOL One lady voted for someone over 1000 times using the internet but I missed the news report to find out how she did it.
Wishing each of you a super fantastic weekend. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Hey ya'll! School's out! School's out! Teacher let the monkeys out!
:cb: :dancer: :cheer: :twirly: :hyper:  I'm so glad!!! I went to the awards program at my daughter's school and it was bittersweet! She "graduated" from the fifth grade and is off to middle school next year! :^: She got several awards. One for Language arts (grammer and comp for us old stogies), one for having all A's this year and one that is called the presidents award for educational excellence complete with a letter, lapel pin and certificate signed by Dubya! Wow I was impressed! She has been a straight A student since she started school, never had a B on her report card. My son got an award for language arts at his ceremony too. He will be in the eighth next year then off to high school. I don't think I can handle it! We are going to Tybee Island on June 5 for a few days and I hope all the walking on the beach will kick me back into a good exercise routine! :beach: Hope to be Online more this summer while I have more time! We will go back to school on August 1, so I will have to squeeze out every ounce of fun I can find! Have a great holiday weekend everyone! :sunny:  |

Good Morning! Tom is out loading his truck with the old wood from the deck, alone. The young guy who was going to help called this morning to say his baby son was sick and he had to stay home and help his wife. I can't think of anyone else to call, and he doesn't want to ask anyone at the last minute. Its a big job, and I hate he has to do it alone.
I just cooked a pound of garbanzo beans in my pressure cooker. I can't wait to see how they turned out. I am waiting for it to cool down enough to open. :) Breakfast was three scrambled eggs with some cheese, and water. I also had a cup of espresso with cream and a bit of fructose. I am planning on using the garbanzos to make hummus. I really need to get some stuff done around here, but I am such a flake! I am still in my nightgown, and not feeling very motivated. :( We don't have any big plans for the weekend. The youth group from church is having a party in our pool on Monday. I will probably interact some with them, but not much. I never swim when we have company...only family and close friends can see me in my bathing suit, as its a scary sight! I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I will check in later! |
Good Saturday Morning!
Hello all!
I'm sorry I didn't get on the board yesterday--the day just slipped by me. I did very well with my eating and the scale still seems to be moving in the right direction. I'm not doing much for the holiday weekend. I had been invited to a friends lakehouse, but then her son and his family decided to come for a visit so the weekend at the lake has been postponed. I will go to Montgomery on Monday for a little work and a little cookout. I will take all my own food. That said, I have wash in the machine I have to get out on the line and I'm thinking about doing a little planing today. . . Have a great OP day everyone! Susan ps--Jackie--hope your party goes well this weekend! |
I overcooked the garbanzos! How amazing is that? Instead of 12 minutes, I got distracted and let them cook 15, and they were overdone! I LOVE this pressure cooker! :)
Next on the list to cook are black beans. I have them soaking already, and will put them in the pot in another hour or so. Tom got all the wood moved, and is feeling good about that. He is now working on the plumbing. I may take a nap, because I am really sleepy. I hate when I feel this way! Later! |
Monet,
You said you were waiting on the pot to cool down enough to open it....are you NOT putting the pot in the sink and running cold water on it to cool it? BOB |
I got the black bean soup in the pressure cooker...it smells divine. I just started throwing stuff in, so if it turns out good, I will never be able to duplicate it!
Tom and I ran over to Costco and got two chaise lounges for by the pool. I am SO excited! We have only been talking about doing that for three years. They are very nice ones, and will be a great addition to the pool deck. Now if I can just talk him into a table, with an umbrella and some chairs, the back yard will be lovely for parties. :) We stopped at Harry's/Whole Foods and I got some veggies and milk. Its right next door to Costco. My son in law is here now, to pick up some rocks he left in our yard. He is using the rocks to define flower and vegetable beds at their house, but had two more piles he had accumulated before they moved that he had not gotten yet. It will be nice to have them out of the way! BOB: The recipe book tells you to let the pressure go down naturally when you cook beans. I use the cold water release when I don't want to overcook something, like veggies. Do you always use the cold water method? |
MONET,
Yes, on everything...you sometimes have to adjust the pressure of the water, but we do it all the time. BOB |
Good evening. This has been a very do nothing day. Except this afternoon DH and I went to Wal Mart to pick up a few things. And now we're home each playing on our computers. Guess we'll just snack around for dinner. Tomorrow we'll barbeque some little tenderloin steaks I have thawed out and have scallops with them. I've got a new cauliflower dish I want to try out too.
Monet- You got me so inspired about the pressure cooker I ordered me a cookbook from Amazon. I hope its a good one. I have a real old PC so have no book or anything. I usually just cook my roasts in it. Howdy Fillise, Bob and everyone.... |
