Hello ladies.....
Went with dh and got the boat home today. We made a short stop and lost a few dollars at the casino! Not even some little winners. NOTHING. I don't like it when it goes that fast.....it isn't even fun. I didn't get in any exercise yesterday or today, but am going to get in 3 miles in the morning, and then on Friday I am hoping to get the full amount of strength training in. I started out slow on Monday and only did 2 circuits instead of my normal three. My oldest son, Brant called last night and was very excited. He got a fAX at work that a small town just north of us is looking for someone with water treatment and waste water treatment knowledge. Brant is certified in both areas, and is looking to move up here closer to home. He is living about 2 hours away right now. Chewelah would put him about 26 miles from us!! But I hope he checks everything out.....I would hate for him to end up in a job that he doesn't like. Where he is now, he is head of the road dept. and all of his bosses think the world of him. But I also want him closer to home!! I am hoping that I will get some time to get in some replies tomorrow. Forgive me, as I just want to get to bed now. I am still stuffed up and nighttime seems to be the worst. I have got a bunch of apples that I have to do something with in the morning, then we are having a night out for dinner. I won it!! We do have to sit and listen to a fire safety speal.....but I can eat and listen at the same time, lol. There is nothing to buy, and they suggest that you leave your money home, so can't be too bad. Sweet dreams to you all!! |
Good Morning! I slept very well last night! I also remembered to hop on the scale this morning, and it was down two pounds from last week. That makes me only 22 pounds up since my thyroid went whacky in June. I feel energetic this morning, and plan to get to Curves, early, and run a few errands then come home and pack. I ironed the red dress, and tried it on. It makes my umbilical hernia stand out, but other than that, looks ok. So, I will go with it.
TEENSY: I hope your son gets that job! It will be so nice to have him much closer to you. FILLISE: I plan on taking the robe I got and wearing it if I can. I have done the two gowns forward and back when I was in for mono, and it just doesn't cut it with me! I hope I can do as well as you did. However, I will not mind staying 72 hours after surgery. I think I will enjoy the enforced rest, which will be hard for me to get here, in addition to the hospital bed that will help me get up, over my bed which will not! ;) Of course, this is subject to change if I have an annoying roommate. Ok, off to get the son awake and moving. I wonder who will do that for him tomorrow when we are off to Texas??? :) |
Good morning...
It is cool morning here but I just love it. I slept really early yesterday, you will be shocked especially for a night owl like me. I fell asleep on dd bed when I put her to sleep at 8.30pm. I woke up around 10pm and went to sleep on my bed. When dh came home about 1am, I woke up and had a hard time falling back to sleep but eventually did until 7-something this morning. I am still tired but it could be other reasons. I think I have yeast infection (I am taking antibiotics) but pretty mild. Other than that, don't know what else. Okay, need more exercise!! Here are my menu for today : Breakfast : Egg and sausage casserole. Water. Snack : Fruits. Lunch : Baked or sauteed basa fish, sauteed fennel and brown rice pilaf. Snack : Mixed fruits and nuts. Dinner : Not sure yet. Might be some sort of sandwich with mix green salad. MONET : Although the recipe says 12 servings, it is more like 6 servings for my family. I can eat 2 thighs at one meal or more if I am extremely hungry...lol. I put in about 12 thighs in there and had it for 3 meals. Dd drank the sauce and said yum!...lol. Have a safe and fun trip. You sounds gorgeous!!! GATOR : Sounds like you had some good workout doing yardwork :) Well, today is a new day :) TEENSY : That is great news about Brant. I hope he checks the position out thoroughly too. My neighbor's son who is a policeman in Seattle for many years moved back to GA so he could be closer with his mom and dad eventhough he had to take a drastic pay cut and position. He was adored greatly in Seattle but here in GA, he had to start anew but he was willing to do that just to be closed to his family. Wow...what a son :) I really need to do some cleaning around the house and not to mention organizing. Will check in later! Julia |
Good Day my SB Pals:
Let's see....I have eaten horribly today. I gotta get back on track and stay there!!! I was so rushed this morning that I skipped BF, which I NEVER do! Anyway, after dropping off Britt at school, I went by Sonic and got a bacon, egg & cheese texas toast BF sandwich. I then went by Starbucks a little later and had a SF, NF vanilla latte, and it doesn't end there....I had 10 nuggets from Chick-Fil-A for lunch, and not even a salad with it. I have had nothing good today, but that will change. I am making chicken parm for dinner and will have that without noodles and will have a big salad with it. Tomorrow, I vow to do better. It's so hard to get everyone up and out of here for that 45 minute drive to Britt's school every morning. O.K., enough complaining. Oh, and I didn't just have 2 slices of pizza yesterday...I had 4. They weren't real big, but big enough. I did have a large salad too. I bought the girls a wagon a few weeks ago, and went by Toys R Us today to get the little caboose wagon that goes with it. It is smaller than the wagon, but you can carry stuff in it. It will be great for the pumpkin festival that we go to, as well as when we go trick-or-treating at my sisters. I HOPE and PRAY that Lane is not giving up her naps yet. She gets so cranky and tired, but once I put her down, she tosses and turns for an hour and then doesn't want to sleep, but then stays cranky the rest of the day...what to do! Ken: Lane is doing fine; she never got sick again after that night. It is so scary for them..not knowing why they are getting sick and wanting us to "fix" it for them. Thanks for the compliments, but I do have to say I couldn't do it with diet alone...I really have to work hard to keep the weight off and stay in decent shape, that is why I exercise so much. I have major mentality issues...it has to be diet and exercise....not one or the other (crazy, I know). It keeps me on the straight and narrow though. The recipe sounds yummy and I will have to try it soon. Thanks for sharing! Heart: I haven't had Chinese Food in ages. No more splurges for you!!!! I am too anxious for you to report that you are in the 150's....it is right around the corner ;) . Country: Good job maintaining your weight!!!! Monet: I'm sure you have already left, and I hope you are having fun. What a fantastic job on your steps; it's motivating isn't it? All hospitals are different. I know that when I gave birth to both of my children, I was able to bring my own gown and robe and they let me wear them, but some of my friends couldn't because they delivered at a diff. hospital than I did. You can probably call ahead and double check. Teensy: How's that back feeling?? Good luck to Brant on the job possibility. Well, I better close for now...my eyes are bugging me. Take care, Nat |
Just popping in. We may go to a fish fry tomorrow evening so I made a legal macaroni salad and some cream cheese and jalapeno roll ups to take. If we don't go they'll be here this week end for DH and I to eat. I've got in 4 days walking this week and am so happy. Its making me feel better to get out. All the posts were so interesting and I'm sorry I'm not writing more.

Hi Ya'll!
Popping in to say a quick "hello." Not in to debates and ELI has taken over the tube for a while to watch them. Will go try to get him to watch in the kitchen so I can throw my butt on the couch and watch a movie. The debates are in Coral Gables - where I grew up and where my parents live. I think this is the most excitement the city has ever seen. LAUREN is down there, not for the debates, but for a play she's doing. My parents are home and things are a little less hectic. I'm still helping, but not to the degree it was before. I have to go work there in the morning tomorrow. My house has suffered and it's embarrasing, but I hope to rectify this some in the coming days. Hoping after this coming week I can get back on the board a bit more and get more in touch with what's happening with all of you - have missed you a lot. Want my life back like it was a year ago-maybe a little more than a year;) ELI has now agreed with me he's falling apart - he has all these medicines to take now. Between the clogged arteries, he just found out he's boarderline diabetic:eek: Geez, it sucks getting old! MICHAEL is doing great at school - loving everything about Yale and all his classes - people ask me if I miss him - maybe it sounds terrible, but I don't miss him YET. I hear from him quite often, more than I did when he was little in summer camp. I guess that's one of the reasons I haven't missed him - he use to go for 2 months, would talk to him once a week when they went on a field trip, that's if he was able to reach me, and saw him for 24 hours in the middle of the 2 months. I've thought of college as EXTENDED INTELLECTUAL CAMP. Before I turn around, he'll be home for the winter break!! Went to see my Grandfather on Wednesday. Went and bought a 60lb block of dry ice (weighs more than what it seems, block isn't that big) and then went in the storming rain to buy 6 bags of ice and 4 bottles of water. Drove in terrible weather about 2 1/2 hours - get there - ready to put some ice in the freezer and I hear a hum - THE POWER CAME BACK ON! As we were going on to his street we saw a repair truck leave, and I guess he just restored the power to part of my GF area. MOM and I didn't stay long - long drive home - but before leaving we drove around his area and asked people who we saw outside if they had power - if not, we offered them the ice we had brought, GF didn't need it anymore. How I wish he still lived down here (also lived in Coral Gables - 6 houses away from the UM - about 3 miles from my parents). Him being so far sucks - can't just jump in the car and run over. Poor guy, he looks terrible :( ME-I'm doing great - on track, though haven't lost anything in about 2 weeks - that's fine - it will come. I haven't been able to exercise at all, and for sure, my jogging days are gone - as I said, it sucks getting old! I think I've developed the beginning of arthritis in my right knee - not sure if that's what it is, but it doesn't hurt if you touch it, but when I bend it, it's stiff, but not all the time, though on a daily basis:rolleyes: Not much else to tell in a short period of time - nothing exciting that I can actually think of - life has been a bore. Hope you are all well - will try to get on when I can and touch base. I haven't read the board, so again, no idea what's going on with everyone, but hope all is well! {{{{SENDING YOU BIG HUGS}}}} :grouphug: Deb |
Hello everyone. Didn't get on as early as I would have wanted to, but I am here. Took me alot longer to can the apples than I had planned. I went ahead and made up SF apple pie filliing and then canned it. Now I just have to open a jar and put it in the pie crust!!
Dinner tonight was very good. It was at a BBQ place in Spokane that is fabulous!! I ate a salad with ranch dressing, some sliced turkey and a bbq rib without the sauce. The fire safety was very informative and a bit scary!! Do all of you realize that the smoke detectors in most of our houses fail to warn of smoke 58 per cent of the time?? And that our power strips (surge protectors) are pretty much time bombs!! It was pretty eye opening........most all of the studies were done at Texas A & M. I tell you all that I am rethinking my choices here....... My menu was easy and good today....just a bit skimpy, but I feel okay about it. B-- 3 turkey bacon, Lite 85, 1/2 c Fiber One, 1.5 oz FF milk, 2 T SF syrup and 1 T Brown Sugar Twin. L--5.6 oz grilled chicken breast, 1.7 oz cheese. D-- Salad with ranch, sliced turkey, 1 bbq rib. I got in my 3 miles today too. First time for the full walk since I pulled the muscles in my back. I was getting up at 5 and leaving at 5:30, but now it doesn't get lights as early......it was 7:45 before I got out the door. And it was very nippy.....I was wishing I had put on my light gloves, my fingers got cold. Well, here are some replies, then I am going to bed. Monet-- Glad that your scale is finally starting to cooperate with you!! Hope you and Tom have a great trip. I bet the red dress looks great!! I sure hope that the job for Brant works out too. Keng-- I don't know if Brant's move is to be closer to me or all his friends up here. He only moved down to Steptoe because he had met a girl, Diana. They were together for 7 years and I really thought they were going to get married this year. Boy was I surprised when they told me they were spliting up just before Christmas last year. Broke my heart, as I really loved her. But I want happiness for both of them, and if it is not with each other, then I hope they find their soul mates. Also I know that he misses the trees!! We are in a really wooded area. Where he is at is treeless, and the wind blows all the time. Pancho-- I don't know why, but it seems like when I skip a meal I end up really messing up for the rest of the day too. A pumpkin frstival sounds like a great time. My back has been doing fine. I still feel it when I get in or out of a car, but that is about the only time now. Walking didn't bother me, nor did the circuit training. I didn't even finish off the meds. I don't like being on narcotics, so as soon as the pain was doable I quit taking them. Toni-- Good for you, girl. I am only going to get in 3 days this week, maybe 4 if I can get it in gear Saturday morning. Deb-- Glad to hear from you. Sounds like you are still busy. Glad that Michael is doing well, and loving it!! Yes, it sucks getting old!! Just found out Merck is taking Vioxx off the market..... causing heart problems, dh has depended on that for his OA for the last few years.....now what are they going to give him?? |
Good Friday morning!
Good Morning,
I'm back to say a quick hello! before I head out with a school group for a workshop. I got on the scale this morning and it was down 3# from last week to 205! Yippee! I've adding some treadmill time in the last week and I'm hoping that it's helping. menu: b-bacon, egg and cheese on SF marble rye toast(one slice) l- probably a sandwich d-kielbasa and saurkraut, probably some spinach. I'm donating platelets today and I always have a larger than normal lunch. I'm also going to Albuquerque for a week on Sunday. There's a big hot air balloon fiesta down there. My Mom has wanted to go for years, so we're finally going this year! We'll also fit in some sightseeing time, and head over to Santa Fe to visit a friend from high school. So I won't be able to get on-line. I'll check in when I get back. Have a great week everyone! CountryMom - my twins are boys, 18, and in college. They're also like night and day, but they were normal size(6# 12 ox, and 7# 5oz). A couple of real characters! Barbara 270/205/135 |
Good morning,
I just came back from Target. I did a little fall/winter shopping for Jess. She always get to shop first...lol. It is strange how our perspective changed once we becomes a parent...lol. I just love those girls' clothes in Target, so cute!!! I bought 3 tops, 1 pant, 1 sweat pant and shirt, 1 sweater, 3 pairs of thighs, for about $40.00. The next place to visit will be Ross (discount store), hopefully I can find some good bargains for her casual wear at home and out too. I really need to shop for myself too as a lot of my clothes especially pants/jeans are too big. I guess that is a great problem to have :) I usually go to Ross too, they have pretty good stuff at reasonable price. I woke up early this morning from a dream...a scary one that's! I dreamt that I was at my aunt's old house and there were snakes everywhere. Her ground and walls are holes where the snakes go in and out daily...yikes!!!!! yikes!!! Talking about it gives me goosebumps!! We were trying to "smoke" out the snakes from their holes and couldn't get them out...lol. Then, I woke up...gosh, I was glad! Anyone knows how to interpret dreams with snakes??? LOL. Yesterday, I was a pig, literally!! I was hungry all the time and ate more snacks than I planned to although legal ones. I had some sweet potatoes chips (1/2 serving) after dd went to nap in the afternoon, then lunch, then a piece of pb and j and nuts for pm snack. Yes, I had my dinner too. After dd went to sleep at night, I was hungry again so I ate a square of my egg and sausage casserole. Then, a small scope of ice-cream. The ice-cream was a planned treat so the casserole was additional...lol. I wasn't craving for a specific food but I was just hungry....lol. I hate being hungry!! LOL. I am starting to feel maybe Tom is coming :) Alright, my menu for today : Breakfast : Half of egg salad sandwich. I was in a rush to get out with dh which wasn't a good excuse. I am starving now. Snack : Hmmm...some fruits and maybe some protein since I am getting hungry. Lunch : Spaghetti and meatballs. Mixed green salad. Snack : Mixed fruits and nuts. Dinner : Not quite sure. Maybe a ham and cheese sandwich with mixed green salad again. I am almost out of veges except salad so do not have much options. PANCHO : Today is a new day and WTG on getting back on track :) Yes, Jess expects mommy to be able to make everything okay almost instant. Whenever dhe is hurt or not feeling well, she will ask for cream or medicine and think that they will help her heal immediately. She asked me, "mommy, why am I still sicked?" I wish everything is as easy and as fast as she thinks they are...lol. Jess takes a long time to sleep especially after I weaned her off her pacifier few months ago. I don't blame her though. There are times where she takes over 1 hour to sleep while sometime 30 mins or so. For me, the issue is to calm her down on the bed since she is constantly moving. Once she is calm, it usually doesn't take too long for her to fall asleep. There have been times that I let her miss her naps if we are not going anywhere, at least she can be cranky at home...lol. I will then put her to sleep early. I am learning not to obessed over her naps but it is hard not to. My husband said I was too obsessed with her not napping. I agreed...lol, that's because I know Jess needs the nap while I need the time off for myself :) TONI : Fish fry...yum! yum! Hope you make it there since it sounds like a yummy thing to do...lol. Woo Hooo!! 4 days of walking, awesome!! I am going to try to walk more too since the weather is much nicer. DEB : {{{hugs}}} Glad to know you are still in a piece and things are getting better. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Hope you can chat with us more. TEENSY : Ahhhh...that was what you had been doing, canning!! I should have guessed it...lol. Just teasing you :) You remind me of "Martha Stewart", in a good way and I do like her :) Wow, 7 years of relationships are so rare these days. Marriages do not even last that long anymore. Too bad they split up but hopefully for the best. He sounds like a good catch and I am sure he will find a good match. Being close to his mama is sure a good thing, fresh homemade jam and jellies, delicious homemade pies, etc etc. That's enough incentive to come home...lol. You did an awesome job at the BBQ. Wow, I am not sure if I can eat BBQ without the sauce unless it has to be really good BBQ :) WTG! WOODFROGS : Congrats on the 3 lbs loss. That's fantastic!! Albuquerque sounds like a fun place to visit. Have a great trip!! Okay, I am starving. I better go get some snack before I pig out at lunch :) Will check in later! Julia |
Well my DH didn't want to go to the fish fry so we didn't. He went on ahead to work. I got my shopping all done and the house is stocked with food again. I even found some 70% chocolate at the health food store. I was so surprised since I've not found it before anywhere. Living in a rural area makes it hard to find certain foods. Guess I need to go see what I'm having for dinner. Hope everyone has a nice week end.

:) Hi all,
I've missed everyone. Well after posting for the first time in about 1 year last week, I couldn't get on the site for some reason. Now I can, so I wanted to say hey. I'm trying to get my life back to normal after a crazy very trying year. Today I slept in for the first time in a long time and it felt so good. I will be starting back on SB on Monday and trying to begin walking again this weekend. Hubby and I are going on a date tonight since I don't think he remembers my name. Probably to one of our favorite Italian places. Of course we have to watch the Auburn-Tennessee game. Hey Big Orange...the Vols are going to be Tiger meat... Fillise hope we can pull it out tonight. Deb glad your GF has power. I've tried to describe to people who have not been in the affected areas from the hurricanes what it is like but it is so hard for them to comprehend. The basic everyday needs are just not there. Even if homes were not damaged it has been weeks and weeks of no power, little food, ice, water, and the lines for gas are tremendous. The basic infastructure for modern life is gone. Long after the headlines in the news are gone, people are still hurting. My prayers are with you and everyone going through this. Well have to go. |
