Unhappy Newbie

Hello All!

I am new to this site. I have been contemplating starting the SB or Atkins for some time now. Can't really figure out which one would be best except that SB has alot more food choices. I am still confused after reading the book about meal choices, serving sizes, etc... I have read Montignac's book a while ago and found it confusing as well. Can anybody help with this problem? I have been through the discussion board and still don't really know what to do.

On Atkins, there isn't a set limit on portion size, but he says eat only until not hungry. However, the vagueness of the portion size can add up on calories and make it harder to lose.

Some people find a quicker weight loss on Atkins, but for many, the strict choices are just too hard! You have to be able to handle meat, cheese, eggs and salads (with limited toppings).

If you have a family to feed with you, SB is probably a better choice. It is more balanced. I would recommend looking at daily menus of both plans, and seeing what appeals to you more!

I am new to the SB way of eating also. I have been on for two weeks. You are on the SB also, is that correct? I lost 11 pounds so far. I started 2 Saturdays ago. I thought I wouldnt go with my usual "I'll start on Monday line." I thought maybe we could buddy up to encourage each other since we both just recently started. I am 48 and started at 223. I am now 212. Can anyone out there tell me if I am doing the right thing. I am not counting the carbs. I just cut out all what was instructed in book to cut out such as, carrots, bananas, white bread, potatoes, rice, etc. I eat 100 percent whole wheat bread, no sugar added, and whole wheat tortillas and saltine crackers in addition to all the other allowables. Am I eating the right wheat products. Wheat pasta also, but none of the wheat products say stone ground. Is it ok. I look forward to hearing from you Kare and anyone else that can give some encouragement or info. Thank you to all of you in advance and I wish you all well.
