How does Met-Rx factor in with the Sugar Buster diet? Also how does Splenda compare with Equal and Sweet & Low?

Not familiar with this product, other than seeing the name. I looked on their website-what product are you interested in using. For instance, they say the drinks, are low in sugar-what's low?? Why do you want to consume this-in place of eating a meal?? You are far better off eating real food than this, but if it's something that falls under the SB guidelines and you need the added nutrients, you can try it and see how your body reacts.

As for Splenda, PERSONALLY, I try not to use it. I'm sure in very small amounts you won't have trouble, but I used it in a dessert, at the whole thing and had a nice gain on the scales. It has maltodextrin in it, which is high on the GI. You can try Stevia Plus instead -I cut out all aspertame as well, was doing a number on my brain cells!

If you'd like to ask the board a question, make sure you hit REPLY instead of post-maybe some of the gals on the regular board can give you better insight.

Good luck!

The answer to the Met-Rx is that I have been using the "Total Nutrition Drink Mix" for 5 years to substitute for breakfast. It is a vanilla powder I mix with water, ice and blend for a shake. Calories/260, calories from fat/15, total carbs/23g, sugars 3g. Since I have started the Sugar Busters diet I stoped using it but I am tired of eggs and bacon every morning. I would like to go back to my morning Met-Rx, but want to try to stick to the diet. Will the Met-Rx fit into the SB diet?

Doesn't SOUND too bad. Many people do use protein shakes, but not on a daily basis. The caloric info doesn't sound too bad-but I wonder, is there any fiber in this mix?? Do you see what sugas make up the 3grams?

One thing nice about SB is you can modify it to fit your needs. If you truly like this drink, you can try to fit it into this WOE, if you find it doesn't work for you, just delete it again-if it works, great. Though, I woulnd't use it daily, if you can avoid doing so.

Why are you stuck on eggs and bacon daily-isn't there anything else you like?? You are far better off eating good healthy food than the shakes, but again, whatever works. Here are some ideas the board has come up with for breakfast:

High Fiber Cereals with milk-Uncle Sams, Fiber One, Whole Grain Cheerios
Eggs or Egg Substitute-make a great omelet, hard boiled or scrambled
WW Pancakes or Waffles-BOB'S RED MILL has a great mix.
Cottage Cheese-add a little sweetener and cinammon
Plain Yogurt-can be topped with some fresh/frozen berries
Whole Grain Toast-top with a little butter if desired
No Sugar Bacon- Gwaltney's is a great brand to try if you can find it!
Hard Cheese-melted on your toast or in your eggs
Fruit-as your meal, or 1/2 hr before, or 2 hours after
Muffins-lots of recipes to make some SB legal muffins out there
Oatmeal (NOT INSTANT)
Breakfast Burrito
Kashi for Breakfast
French Toast (make with egg SB legal bread)
Matzah Brie (WW Matzah & egg)
Brown Rice with fried egg

Good luck!

First I want to thank Debbi for all your help. To answer your questions; the package reads fiber/1g, sugars (no sucrose or fructose), maltodextrin, then toward the end of the list corn syrup solids and next to last aspaptame.

Your more than welcome-again, this has to be your decision, but personally, I wouldn't take it. If the maltodextrin is high on the list, this could cause a problem, it may not, but you'll have to see how you do with it.

You may want to check out the weekly board, today is TUESDAY TIPS and I have a list of covert sugars plus info on carbs on labels-may help you decide a little better if you want to drink this stuff
