Motivation
Hi Dawnstorm,
Motivation has to come from within you. If you don't wanna do it, chances are you won't. I have several ways to keep myself on the path, maybe they'll work for you, maybe not.
- stand in front of the mirror naked. This is the ultimate hard truth! Don't like what you see? What can you do (within reason, I stop short of surgery) to fix it? The most sensible and cheapest answer is nutrition and exercise.
- try on pants that used to fit. Too big? Look how far you've come, don't want to wreck it! Too small? Do you feel good about that?
- give yourself a mini stress test: run down the street and back. Are you out of breathe and jiggling all the way? Or did it feel like a warm-up for some real exercise?
- find a "goal" picture and tape it on your fridge, mirror, computer screen, in your wallet. Look at it often. Is it attainable by lying around and eating poorly? What will you do for yourself each day to achieve that goal? Maybe your goal picture is yourself 2 years ago, maybe it's a magazine pic of someone with a similar build. Make sure your goal is attainable. Keep in mind that fitness models generally only look like that for a few weeks out of the year when they are doing photo shoots.
- take your blood pressure. Is it where it should be? How is your health in general?
Join us on the main thread- Deb posts motivational quotes every Monday morning. And we all are around to hold your hand, answer questions, or give you a good swift kick when necessary. Actually we're pretty gentle!
