Hi there . . .

SSDD in the feline menagerie -- Sandy still thinks his best place is under the kitchen table although he is getting a little braver -- all five adults are still kitty-footing around him.

Another OP day under my belt yesterday but the nasty old scale- doesn't seem willing to budge off this 212 number. Just have to wait him out, I guess.

At least we re supposedly going to have pleasant tempratures, lower humidity and mostly sunshine from now all the way through the weekend. We'll see.

Hope everybody else has a great day . . .

Hi ladies,

We went to the park last night and walked 3 miles. The one with the killer hill. It totally wiped me out, especially the 2nd time around. I wasn't good for anything after that. Eating is good still.

Toni, good job on your eating. Benn on the lately? Do you like Dillards? I refuse to shop there. One, they are outrageously expensive & it seems everything is designer clothes and 2 I hate their return policy. They took over our beloved Bacon's which is similar to Kohls.

Meowee, oh my that is a lot of cats. I hope they all get along soon. The aprons sound so cute. What a nice gift. I have 2 that Iwear alot b/c I am such a messy cook.

Off to get some breakfast. Have a great day.

Hello all. The day has just flown by. I made bean burritos for dinner. I'm having a hard time wanting to snack lately. Have to really keep a tight rein on myself.

Solly- I only buy sale shirts from Dillards on line. Theres no shopping around here except Wal Mart so have to rely on the internet.

Meowee- Hope the kitties are good today.

Off to watch tv.

Good morning.

Walked 35 minutes last night.
Was over on my calories for the day by 150 but have been under all week so I am not concerned. Even had 2 light beers last night. Should either walk or go to the gym or both tonight. DD and SIL want to join so I am happy about that. Just hope I don't have to pay for them.

Toni, we had chicken burritos last night. They were good, but I was still hungry afterwards. I have never looked at their online stuff. Not much on that, but then again, we have plenty of stores around us.

Meowee, Hope your day is going well and the kitty is fitting in better.

Have a great day.

Morning everyone. Things are pretty quiet at my house. Steve got a new laptop so is busy working on that. I haven't even had breakfast yet.

Solly- Dang woman you are doing so good. I wish I could get Steve to walk with me. A chicken burrito sounds good. I think we are having leftover burritos and I think I'll put chicken in them too.

Well off I go.....

Hello friends! I had a little time and thought I would check in.

Life continues to be crazy around our house. Tom was laid off again in early June and has a new job starting Monday. Kaeleb had his 2nd birthday, and is a delight each day. I keep him two or three days a week while they work and I am enjoying our time.

I have been sick for the last few days with a stomach/intestinal bug. I have not felt much like eating. I sure hope it translates into a loss on the metal monster. When I am feeling well, I try and spend a lot of time in the pool, or walking. I need to walk more, but I am still having trouble with my heel, so I have to load up on ibuprofen when I do.

The weather has been too hot to work in the garagio, so I have done very little work lately. I hope that changes soon!

Take care everyone!

Good Morning all you Sweetie-Pies . . . . . . and, an extra for you Ellen.

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday . . . not a good day at all.

Two major (and a few minor ones, too) things brought ruination to my day yesterday . . .

My kitchen sink self-destructed. The trap had been leaking slowly for a few days (probably longer from the conditions I found under the sink). But yesterday, the faucet literally broke off in my hand, while I was moving it from one side to the other and by the time I got the taps turned off, the ceiling had been washed. I have yet to hear back from the plumber even though I've left two messages and may have to start looking for another plumber. Don't mind that I'm getting some extra exercise carrying water from bathroom to kitchen (split level house; have to go up or down half a flight to 'find' water) for most things, but I'm concerned about doing dishes since I'm nervous about running the dishwasher since I really don't know the condition of the rest of the waterworkings in the kitchen and I do not have laundry tubs.

Then, a major food meltdown occured -- so far no scale effect from my pig out yesterday but it will probably come -- it was really a 'final meal' kind of thing for LouLou -- her doctor finally (after almost a year of testing for other stuff) decided to do the blood tests for Celiac Disease (not one of the first things they seem to think of in a 68 year old woman, I guess) and, from the reading I've done, that sounds like a very likely answer for most of her ongoing problems, even the nasty flare-up of diverticulitis that she definitely has. She won't know for sure for another week when she sees the internal medicine specialist. But from the outcome of the very high gluten meal we had yesterday (pizza, pasta, bread, brownie buffet), sounds like a strong possibility to me -- she had to run to the washroom six times while we were in the restaurant; then she hit every washroom in every store we were in for the next hour; and as well as the ongoing diarrhea she also started throwing up the final two or three stops. So I gave here a bunch of reading material I printed off the www and took her home to bed . . . gee, this diagnosis would even explain the funny sores she gets on her arms, legs, and buttocks that have been going on for years with everybody trying to figure out what she's allergic to. Although I wouldn't wish Celiac Disease on anybody at least it would give her a direction. She is just about at her wit's end with these problems she's been having for so long.

Nothing else is new -- don't need anything else right now anyway. Weather is still humid although the sun is shinging today.

Have a good one, gang . . . see you later . . .

Default An introduction

Hello all

I have been lurking for a bit and thought I would introduce myself.

I am a 44 year old nurse and mother of 5 from just outside Louisville, Ky (We are neighbors Solly)

I having been investigating several diets and SB seems to be the best way to go for me right now. I am struggling with hypothyroidism as a result of having my gland removed. A friend who is a nurse practitioner recommended a low GI diet and SB specifically.

I will be buying the book this evening and would like to join this group and tap into your knowledge if that is ok with everyone.

Regards,

Debbie

Good evening ladies. Today has been busy. We had lots of errands to run. But we did get our trailer reserved for our trip to Calif. We're bringing back some furniture with us on our return trip so thats why we need the trailer. I'm so looking forward to going. I haven't been back to Calif. in awhile. Eating has been fine. Think we're having pizza for dinner.

Debbie- To our little corner of the world. Just jump in here with questions. On the frequently asked questions is a list of stuff you can and can't have if you want to get started before your book comes. This is an excellent way of eating. And easy to make a lifestyle change.

Meowee- Oh my gosh what awful plumbing problems, I hope you got a hold of a plumber. Hope your friend gets some answers....

Ellen- It was so good to see you posting. I've missed you so much.... I watch Etsy to see if you have any new pottery on there.

Well off to make dinner. Its wonderful and overcast here today with the temp. around 77.. I love it.

Good Morning . . .

The sun is shining . . . although the humidity is still too high . . . . . . but most things in my world are on an upswing . . .

I have a useable kitchen water supply again . . . and the good news is that less work was required than I had anticipated. All the water I'd been seeing over the past week or two was coming from the deteriorating tap situation. Although I would have liked to get new sinks too, they actually talked me out of it. Gotta living in a small community where even the plumbers don't try to talk you into unneccessary (and expensive) work. Of course, I imagine the bill for what they did do, will be enough of a shocker when it arrives. Only down note, my precious little swiveling aerator that I bought years ago won't fit the new faucet so today I go hunting for another one. I seem to recall that it originally came with alternate attachement pieces, but I have no idea where they may have gone. I did replace my bathroom sink . . . the drain had been giving me some trouble for a long time (very slow to empty). When they tried to remove the sink from the existing downpipe, the bottom of the old sink gave up the ghost. So I got my new sink -- just not the one I had planned on.

Speaking of changes in the bthroom . . . . . . Things in the feline menagerie seem to be progressing okay except that 'somebody' (I have two possible candidates -- Frick and Blizzard -- both of whom are playing really shy around Sandy and have decided they prefer to live upstairs as much as possible) is using the bathtub as a litter box. Could be worse, at least it's easy to clean up in there.

Nothing much else going on for me . . . hope the rest of you are having a great weekend . . .

Hello Ladies!!!

No, I haven't abandoned the boards, just been so busy with work and moving my daughters into college and apartments that I haven't had time to breath. I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and staying healthy.
I love my job and am learning a lot each day. It is very strange to come home to an empty house though. I can't believe it's just my husband and I. I think he's enjoying the fact that he has my undivided attention now though. Men do get pushed aside a bit when we're raising children. It's been nice to sit at night and just talk.
I weighed myself today and am still at 154 pounds. I think I'm going to have to move a lot more than I am if I'm going to break through this plateau. I'm in no hurry though, when it happens it happens. Just staying the same is a victory for me.
Well, I've got to finish clearing up the loose ends that I can only get done on the weekends now, so have a great Sunday all!!
