Default Thinking about Starting SugarBusters

I do have a problem with binging and sugar. I was wondering how long some of you have been doing this, do you combine with other diets (WeightWatchers or Calorie Counting), and how much have you lost. I need to figure out what works for me-- I have been trying to lose the same 30 pounds for over 3 years now. I have read several articles about cutting back on sugar and about the GI index and it makes sense! Wondering what you all had tried in the past before finding this. I guess I am looking for some new inspiration!! Thanks!

I am a sugarholic.I just have to remember what all those donuts, candy bars, pies ,cakes, etc do to me. Put on the pounds! If I do weaken , I start over right away and do not let it turn into a long term binge.I count calories and do not allow the sugar laden foods in my house.

Hi there, Gilligan! I have been on Sugarbusters for five or six years. It is the only diet I can lose anything on. I have thyroid issues and am diabetic, as well as have other metabolic issues going on. Losing weight for me is almost impossible, but if I stick to Sugarbusters carefully, I do lose, though slowly. Over on the support thread, there are others who have been on the diet for a while. We have had several who have lost over 100 pounds on it! It DOES work. I highly recommend either buying, or taking the book out of the library and reading it. It helps to know all the background. I have to say this is the EASIEST diet to follow I have ever found! There is mainly a list of things you have to avoid, none of which are hard, and then you can eat a great variety of stuff, and enough to be satisfied and not hungry. Getting off the sugar takes a bit of gumption and determination, but once you get past the cravings (anywhere from a couple days to a week usually) you just feel so free and in control! It is amazing!

Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Come join us on the support thread. Ask any questions you have... We will be happy to help you kick the sugar monster to the curb!
