Hi Monet
Yes l am proud of myself l have lost 20lbs so far since the first of March. Yes getting a break from Eric recharges us and helps him too, as he gets used to others feeding and changing him. For breakfast l had a hard boiled egg and a piece of ww toast, lunch was a peanut butter and jam sandwhich, and a glass of milk, dinner we are having salmon steaks and asbargras. I also usually have a apple or a plum as a snack around 3pm as we don't eat dinner till 6pm And l think cause l haven't cheated and had any sugar is the reason l am doing so good. Glad to hear you are gonna be playing while working at the school. The kids are lucky to have a great teacher. Everyone is l hope you have a great day, got to go and start dinner now. |
Hi everyone...just a quick breeze in/breeze out. The kids had off today for a Superintendants Day, so Kyle had his ears checked again and when I got him there, his eyes looked conjunctivitis-like to me...first time I noticed was when we were sitting in the waiting room. Sure enough...conjunctivitis AND a double ear infection. Back on the antibiotics, eye drops and he upped our Claritin prescription. He also said that he's hesitant to put tubes in his ears (which I appreciate) and said he wouldn't be surprised to see his ears clear up with the nicer weather that should (SHOULD) be right around the corner.
So, after the doctor appt. we went to get my nails done while the kids went to the bookstore, picked up prescriptions, went to Friendly's for dinner then to Target to get a couple toys for the kids. Now we're home and I don't have to make dinner. I made a YUMMY creamy chicken soup yesterday. I'll have to post the recipe, although something about the flour makes me think it may not be 100% legal schmegal. It was good, though. Saturday we had a little adventure with a distempered skunk in our yard. Our house WREAKED of skunk, but when we went outside, the air was clear...which is definitely something to be alarmed over. So, I took a quiet inspection of the perimeter of our house and found a skunk sitting next to the front steps. So, then I got Derek and by then the skunk had travelled to the side of our porch. I called our neighbor to see what they thought we should do because I've always been cautioned that if you see a nocturnal animal in the daytime to assume it's rabid and to stay clear...(not to mention its a SKUNK and will do permanent stinky damage to our house if we tork it off!!). My neighbor said that as she was watching it from her house, it was on its side and hopping up and down and having a seizure. Now, I'm not a skunk lover, but by now I felt bad for the little creature because it was clearly not in good shape. After a while, my neighbor said she saw it go under my porch!! Oh, great, I thought...till I heard Junior barking his head off from his sequestering on the back porch until we took care of the critter. So, I assumed he had gotten back out from under the porch and was (hopefully) on his merry way to someone else's yard. But, oh no...he decided to hole up under my car!! So, Derek is there throwing things at it to get it out from under there and the thing crawls out and proceeds to have another seizure, then start heading for my house again!! Derek then put a large box over it so that it would stop crawling around and go to sleep...and we figured it probably liked the darkness anyway. All the while, we're battling with the local sheriff and the DEC to come take away a potentially risky animal from our yard...assuming it could still be rabid! Finally, the sheriff comes and says that he could shoot it, but he couldn't take it away and the DEC won't take it for testing unless they kill it, so we had to wait for the DEC. The DEC comes and shoots it and then the guy tells Derek that he can't take it away because he's going on vacation the next day and he doesn't want to stink up his car or something to that matter...he was supremely put-out that we'd called him in the first place...so he put it in a trash bag for us and told us to take it out with the Monday morning trash pick up. :fr: I couldn't believe it!! I thought...these are professional enviromentalists and I'M the one with the compassion? A lowly Republican? So, anyhow...the skunk continued to stink up the neighborhood from his grave at the curb until this morning when the trashmen came and I at least got a good chuckle from the looks on their faces when they picked up our bags...I was waiting to tell them, "Hey, it's what the DEC said to do with it!!" Anyhow...I have to go tend to Kyle. Will be back later... Kris |
Good Morning Ladies, again, I have not been able to get to posts but I do check in every few days or so when I can. I'm still walking 2 miles/day & eating is mostly 100% OP. Weight is coming down & clothes is fitting looser than before. I was pushing a size 18 a few weeks ago but this week I put on a 14 that fit comfortably. Not to say that all 14's will fit just yet but it really encouraged me that this one did!:carrot:
ericsmommy Super fantistic on the 20 lb drop!:carrot: Monet I'm still here. Toni48 I agree with Monet, you need more protein. Most days I start off with a protein shake & that boosts my energy enough to get out & walk & carries me thru lunch time. I'm trying to keep it down to one starch carb /day. Also keep in mind that bananas are high on the GI list. Don't get discouraged. Write it all down & see where you're making your mistakes then re-vamp!! You can do it! Solly Sounds like you got energy to burn! You go Gurl!!:D aleka I'm like Monet, wondering where in FL are ya? We usually vacation in New Smyrna Beach on the east coast every summer but we're heading for AR this year for DH's great-niece's wedding instead. Rosalie, We're getting some of that stormy weather here today. Woke up this am to lightening & thundering & thought it would stop my walk but it cleared for a while & I got out there! SEF, You'll probably get this weather before the end of the day too. Sorry I've been out of touch. My computer crashed last week:( & I'm trying to recover. Lost EVERYTHING down to emails & email addresses. I've learned a valuable lesson though. I went out & bought me an external hard drive to do my back ups. BOB & Tech, Well I got to go. Sorry if I missed anyone. |
Hi all,
I'm still here just been busy with hubby. Didn't eat good Sunday...We have a new mexican resturant in town and hubby took me there to eat. Needless to say I was a bad girl....I had a Chicken taco salad and ate some of the shell not all and also ate a few of the tortillas. But I'm back on track as of yesterday. Gotta run. Everyone have a wonderful day!!!! |
hey ya'll! It's another beautiful day here. I'm still trying to plug along and make better choices.
Next week is Spring break for us and I am really looking forward to it. We are not going anywhere. The kids have doctor appt on two different days and we are going to a local park one day. It has a covered bridge and a creek that you can play in. Parts of the creek are rather still and comes up to about your waist and other parts are more shallow, rocky and fast moving. There is even one area where you sit on the rocks and ride down like a water slide! I hope it stays warm like it is this week. I got labwork back on the kids for their appt next week and I think it looks pretty good. Sean had a bone age test done and it looks like his is about 9 months off, so he gets a little more time to grow. He has grown about 3 inches in the last year or so and now is 15yrs and 62" tall. DH is 67", so I guess he will be close. Rachel's cholesterol was 158, A1C was 4.5, and her insulin was 14 (should be under 17). I guess the glucophage is doing it's job! The only thing was one of her thyroid tests were off, and they will repeat it in May. |
Good afternoon everyone
It's a beautiful sunny day here and the temperature is about 70F. Tomorrow should be a bit cooler - about 60F - but as long as the sun is shining I'll be happy. I slept a bit better last night but didn't feel like getting up early to walk. Will probably go tomorrow. Did go bowling this morning and will go to badminton this evening. Monet - The sambhar I had the other day was not home-made. It was a small freebie package that came with a package of dosas and I thought I might as well use it. I've also had it from a can but I do plan on making my own as soon as I finish the last batch of lentils I made. I'll give you the links for a couple of recipes that I have printed out in case you would like to experiment with them. When I get around to making some I will let you know how it turned out. I probably will not bother to use the tamarind. It should be o.k. without it. SAMBHAR1. SAMBHAR2 Aleka - I did have a good night's sleep last night. How did you do on your first day of SB? Tech - I don't envy you chasing that skunk around the yard. I can't believe that you were told to put it out with the garbage. I would have thought they would have been anxious to take in for rabies testing. Sorry to hear Kyle is having ear problems again. Hope it clears up soon and he doesn't need to have tubes put in. Melf - Glad to hear you are doing so well. It sure feels good when the too small clothes start to fit again. Did you ever manage to ge on to FitDay? I posted to you last week sometime to let you know that I am still using my old account which I hadn't used for a couple of years and you can still sign on for a free account. |
Rosalie, I had opened a new account last week but I just now found my username & PW from Jan 2001! :carrot: I can't believe I found it. I looked for it last week but couldn't find it then. Thanks for reminding me.

Rosalie: I would love to play badminton. Regarding our skunk...our neighbor is calling the DEC to complain about the way the officer handled our skunk problem. The neighbor used to be the mayor of our town, so he knows who to call and has a little pull. I was appauled that they told us to take it out with the trash and they didnt' want to test it for rabies, too. I mean, did they want to wait till someone got bit by it?
Thin: I hope you have a great time with the kids on your break! You sure deserve it!! Sonya: Mexican restaurants are deadly on this diet. It all seems well and good...but those tortillas and rice are what this WOE is all about avoiding...which makes them all the more of a temptation, as far as I'm concerned. But, you know...all things are good in moderation, I say. ;) Melf:  Back atcha!! I've been a solid 14, down from an 18, for a year and a half now. I have 12 in my plans...but I seem to have lost my chutzpa for staying on plan, if you know what I'm sayin'... Mo: You are on FIRE!! Keep up the great work!! Okay...raviolis are done. Illegal raviolis. Nuf said... Will be back later... |
Good evening gals; Did nothing today! It was one of those days that I was really lazy at. Tomorrow its off to Wal Mart and the health food store. Eating was okay but I could have done better. I skipped breakfast which is a no no. But DH was asleep from his night job and I didn't want to rattle around the kitchen. I won't do that again.
Thanks so much Melf and Monet. You're right I've eaten more protein yesterday and today and its helped so much. Along with my trout tonight I had broccoli and cauliflower. So I'm trying to get more veggies in. That's why this board is so great. I really needed a kick in the pants. Tech- Sure don't envy you with the skunk. Here in the Ozarks we have no one to call, its everyone for himself! LOL! I think that was horrible they didn't check it for rabies. Rosalie- What a blessing to be able to do all the badminton and stuff you do. That's so wonderful and you're such a good example. I love reading about your day. Thin- Glad the lab report on the kids was okay. Hope Rachel's thyroid isn't off. Thunderwoman- Its so good to see you. Get back on here!!! Mexican restaurants are my downfall. eric'smommy- Wow you're doing great. Keep up the good work. |
Hey Buds!
I see we've got some new members!! How exciting! Hello to all of you! Y'all.....I'm really worried that we haven't heard from GATOR in so long. Does anyone have her e-mail address? If so, e-mail her and tell her to get her butt back on here!!! Well, hope all is well..I'm feeling great - 20 weeks today - can y'all believe that? And....the best part...I'm still 10 pounds lighter than the day I found out I was pregnant!! Well....I'll see y'all again soon! Missy |
Hi Ladies,
It has been nuts here. I have 3 jobs that have minutes to transcribe each week. I don't have time to do them during the day so I take them home to do them, after dinner, the gym, lunches and now the floor job. Night before last, it was midnight and I was still typing away. Needless to say I am exhausted. My floor is beautiful. One more room. They will be finished by Sat. Good thing, as I have my family for Easter. We won't have our rugs or stuff like that, but mostly finished. Northing else going on with me. Just wanted to pop in and let you know where I was. Toni, why do we have so much more determination on Monday than we do on Friday? Wish I knew the secret. Sorry about the gain. You are right, one day at a time. Eric, 20 lbs this month is awesome. You are doing so great. I noticed you are under the 200 #, I know from experience, that is a wonderful feeling. Keep up the good work. Monet, how awesome, playing a getting paid for it. I know you enjoyed the kids before so I bet you will be glad to get back in it a little. Tech, what a funny story. I'm glad it did not spray while under your car or you would never get the smell out. I am weird, I acutally think a skunk smells good. Melf, how awesome, bigger clothes. That is such a great feeling. Keep up the good work. Tunder, one slip up does not a diet blow. It's when we continue the cheats and go hog wild. You will be fine. Thin, sometimes staying home is a good thing. You can get lots of things accomplished. Rosalie, I love these days of Spring when the sun is shining and the temps are cooler. It has been 80 here since Sat, but alas, the rain has moved in. It will be cooling down some. Missy, glad all is well with you. I can't believe it is 20 weeks. almost half way there, right? In my day, we counted in months not weeks. Now I have to do the math. take care. Have a great day. |
Good Morning!!! What a wonderful feeling when the scale is the lowest you have seen in ages! :carrot: LOL I'm not claiming it just yet but I know I will soon. I've been :running: 2 miles/day in the morning, but yesterday evening I got out & did another mile for a total of 60 minutes/3 miles for the day. This morning I couldn't believe my eyes  when I saw almost a 2 lb drop from yesterday! I'm feeling better & more energy than I have had in a long time. :dancer:
Solly Just those kind of late hours can do us in at times. Your house sounds like it will look great though! fruitloupe It's great that you are doing so well with this pregnancy & still keeping your weight down during these yearly months because look out when the lls will come later when the baby is adding on his weight!:D Toni48, Skipping breakfast should be a :nono: because that is what will boost your energy for the day. I've often had a had time with breakfast myself, so I've gotten in the habit of making me a protein shake in the morning. Probably 90% of the time, that's what I have. I use Power Lean & Designer Whey Protien Powder, just add 1 scoop to 8 oz of Chocholate Carb Countdown, add a couple of cubes of frozen coffee & blend. That's 7 carbs, 26 proteins, 6.5 fats, & 180 cals (depending on which powder I use...that is with the Power Lean). Sometimes I'll add a little fruit to that but most of the time not. Tech, We had a skunk family that had taken up residence in the corner of our front yard one year & would come out of the hole they were living in at or right before dusk ( usually a sign of rabies when they come out in day-light I understood) so we called DEC about it. They well but told me that it was MY problem & that I should get someone to shoot them if I didn't want them there. Well that is just what we did. Thank God the rest of them took off never to return! Rosalie, I am again enjoying Fitday! I'm so glad you responded to that post. I evidently had the wrong sight at first or just didn't read it right, so now & have 2 but I'm using the older one. Thunder, Enjoy your time with DH & don't worry about an occasional flop, just get right back OP. SEF, Monet, BOB, ericsmommy, thin!! :grouphug: |
Howdy all: Just got done taking a little nap in my recliner. My dog Jackson and I had a good rest. Now I'm trying to catch up on the laundry. Ugh! I went to Wal Mart and the health food store today. I got a box of Rye Vita crackers and a jar of cashew butter. It makes a good evening snack. I stopped by our local Dairy Shack on the way home and got me a Chef's salad to have for dinner tonight cause I knew I'd be tired. I love a salad out for some reason.
Missy- You're doing great with your weight! Good girl! Solly- You're just working to hard. Yes I always wonder what happens at the first of the week. I have such trouble with the week end. Melf- Your smoothie sounds so good. I know I've got to start eating breakfast. I sure do need it. But I am doing better on the protein and veggies. Guess I'll run. Reading Mariel Hemingway's book and am anxious to get into it. |
Hi all,
Have had a busy day and still on track. But had to go back to school and pick up my oldest Danielle, she has chicken pox.....along with about 10 other kids in school. I am watching Ashley to. Well gotta run...Everyone take care!!!!! |
Evening all my buster buds.... I went to north Georgia yesterday and decided to spend the night. I came back this morning just in time to meet a friend for coffee. She came here, and was waiting for me when I pulled in. Once she left, I had to go to the grocery store, and I took care of the baby for a bit. This is the first time I have been able to sit down here at the computer all day...but I still need to go pack up my stuff that I will need tomorrow. I better not forget the clay!
I finally glazed my teapot. I did a low fire majolica decoration on it. I think it looks ok. Bonnie said it looked good, but I was not sure if she was just trying to be encouraging or what! ;) We both were feeling kind of tired and out of it yesterday, so we mainly smashed crummy pots with a sledgehammer, and talked most of the day. We ran over to the Mark Of The Potter, a famous pottery shop near her as well, just for some inspiration. Dinner tonight was fish, green beans and a few baked fries. I had a pb&j for lunch, and breakfast was oatmeal. I did not eat as well today as I would have liked, but the cupboard was bare, and you know how that is. I went shopping for groceries this afternoon, so that ought to help some. I am subbing tomorrow...and I have to be at the school at 7:30, so I am going to bed really soon here. I will try and write out replies tomorrow afternoon. Love to you all! :grouphug: |
