Evening all,

Nice to see all the posts.

I had a busy day. Went to the doctor. I like his scale better, showed a 10# loss. I weighed the same three months ago as I did when I restarted here two weeks ago. Doctor is applying for physical therapy for me to see if it will help my hip, back, knees. I have been having balance problems and therapy will address that too. If not he wants me to get a walker. I think he wanted me to feel better about it (I'm too young for a walker, that's for old folks!) cause he kept telling me they come in fancy colors now, have wheels and not your grandmothers' walker and they come in pretty colors, they have brakes, a basket and they come in pretty colors.....okay doc I get the idea!!! He also said I could use a handicap tag as when I walk I have to stop and rest, not because I'm SOB but because my hip and back hurt. He didn't have anymore forms, so I had to go to DMV and get one, back to his office to have it filled out and signed, then back to DMV and had to wait everytime and everywhere. I also went to WinnDixie to get some liver for Lori and I. Then I was too tired to cook it. And I never did get any laundry done. I am glad about the tag, That will help immensely, especially in Wally's World where I go often. So that was my day! Oh, one thing I was glad to hear. I can go in the hot tub if it's not too hot and only for 10-15 minutes. Ever since I was diagnosed with diabetes my DIL worried about me being in it becasue I also have hypertension. I kept forgetting to ask the doctor. He said not to use ones at the gym as they can be cranked up to as high as
140'. I think Lori has ours at 120.

TONI: It is very springlike here. I have been enjoying the patio/deck. Soon our LA weather will be too hot and humid to just sit out there unless you're swimming. When I can't sleep, I'm like BOB, I have to get out of bed, hurts less or something. Besides I keep tossing and turning and drive myself crazy.......yeah, I know, I don't have much of a drive to do it!

ROSALIE: Having a walking partner is nice, time goes faster and easier, or so it seems. My neck is fine today. Was just sore this morning and it worked itself out. Hate it when I can't find something. Buy a new hook and you'll find the old one! Will have to wait for Kevin to come home from Puerto Tico to make the Toad thing and the Bubble and Squeak will need some leftover mashed potatoes. Yvonne said the same thing, it was served with leftover cold meat.

MONET: In spite of not seeing Ruth seems like you had a lovely day. Did the teacups turn out okay? I do my best work at weird hours of the day!
Such as nice present too.

Guess I better shut-up a while. If I stay awake in the recliner I may check in again before bed.

BOB: Ill do some laundry tomorrow after the NH. Gotta keep up with your good example.

May good things happen, Shirley

Good Morning all

I was out early this morning for my walk. Didn't really want to get up at 6 a.m. but I know if I didn't get up and slept in I would have been mad at myself later. Just finished cutting up a few veggies for dinner. I will be out all morning at bowling and am having company for dinner so wanted to get a head start. I plan on doing chicken teriyaki in the crockpot and spiced basmati rice cooked with mushrooms, onions, zucchini and green peas.

Sef - We used to make our bubble and sqeak with leftover cut up boiled potatoes or what was better was the potatoes that had been baked around the roast. We would fry this with any leftover greens, brussels sprouts etc. I guess we all had our own variation on the recipe.

Have a good day everyone.

I hope you don't mind me butting in like this. I am considering doing SB and I was wondering if SB has lowered anyone's cholesterol. I am currently taking meds for it and I just got the results of my latest blood work. It went up just a tad over 200 and my Dr. wants to increase my meds, which I do not want to do. I have the SB book and read where insulin can cause high cholesterol and I was wondering if anyone has had good results lowering it with SB along with exercise. Thanks.

Howdy everyone.... We just got back from town and signing the loan papers for our fixing up our mobile. Can't wait for the work to begin and end. We stopped at our local Dairy Shack and picked up a couple of chef's salads. They were so good and on a nice warm day it hit the spot. Don't know whats for dinner tonight. Having a heck of a time with sinus today, everything is budding out.

aleka- This is great for your cholesterol. My doctor likes me being on it. Come join us!!!

Melf- congradulations on staying OP!!!! I've been wondering where you are.

sef- So sorry about your hip and back. I have a handicap licence and it sure does help. It will get to hot here in the Ozarks in the summer to be outside. Along with lots of bugs etc.

Rosalie- Good for you on the walk. Hope your dinner turns out good.

Monet- Have fun today gal..

Got to run..... Hugs all Toni

Melf 03-22-2007 05:10 PM

:wel3fc: aleka! I have had ongoing problems with my cholesterol, but I do not take my medication as I should. What has come down with SB though is my Triglycerides, from the 400's down to 70's & 80's. :D

Melf 03-22-2007 05:22 PM

Hi All

Hope you had a wonderful Thursday, My day has been going good, and my eating has been great, question for you, is it ok to lose 1 or more pounds a day since starting? Every morning l am down 1 to 1 1/2 lbs and I think its great but l don't want to be making myself sick either. I go to the doctors on the 2 of April for a check up. So l guess my question is is it normal to lose so much at the start of the diet and then platoue out? And if so how long does this stage last?

It has been 3 weeks today since l gave uo sugar and have loss 18lb's.

Thanks for listening.

Hi all,

This has been a wonderful day. I rode to Brookhaven, MS with hubby in his 18 wheeler today and back before the girls got out of school. I love riding with him. I needed that ride. I feel so good.

Mo-A lot of what you are losing the first few weeks is fluid. Just make sure you are eating enough. I plan my meals as I go but I always eat a meat and 2 veggies every day. Thats for Lunch menu and Dinner menu. I have eaten every since I started for Breakfast 2 eggs, 3 meats (thats either 3 pieces of sausage or 3 slices of turkey bacon and 1 piece of cheese toast. I am gradually cutting out a lot of the bread I have eaten in the past. Also between meals for snacks I either eat a piece of fruit or nuts or trisquits with cheese or peanut butter. And I also drink about a gallon and a half of water a day sometimes more if I'm really thristy. My mom says I should be floating off....lol.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!!!

thunderwoman62 03-22-2007 08:27 PM

Mo A sample of my menu-
Breakfast-2 eggs, 2 sausage, 1 cheese toast(I cut down to 2 breakfast meats.

snack-a few nuts

Lunch-one piece of chicken, 1/2 c mustard greens, 1/2 c okra and tomato, an 1/4 c peas...i had a extra veggies today but I don't do it all the time. Just sometimes I crave veggies.

snack-pear

dinner-half a small hamburger steak and one piece of cube steak. 1/2 c mac and cheese, 1/2 c green lima beans.

a lot of the time I have a grilled chicken salad for lunch which I would eat every day if I could afford the lettece all the time....lol

1 1/2 gallons of water

I am gradually cutting serving sizes smaller.

Hello all my buster buddies! I had a great day up in North Georgia. Bonnie and I have so much fun harrassing each other, and helping each other with critiques and suggestions... My new wheel was just awesome! I threw a bowl and three mugs, pulled handles, and trimmed the bowls I threw last week. Then, we played with the paper clay I made. I made a dozen sushi plates using a little mold I made. We mixed up glazes too. Before dinner we took a break and played badminton for 30 or 40 minutes. Boy am I going to feel THAT tomorrow! I have not played in a looonnggg time, and I thought of Rosalie and felt great admiration for her!

MO: As long as you are getting plenty of calories, I think you are ok losing a pound a day for a while. It WILL slow down, but when and how much is so much an individual thing, no one can say. It depends on your activity level, your metabolism, what and how much you are eating, etc. etc. etc.... Just keep eating the right stuff and don't worry about it.

ALEKA: :welcome3: You are not butting in! We are more than happy to pull up another chair for you to join us! SB IS good for cholesterol. It helps my husband keep his under control. He refuses to take medication for cholesterol, so diet is very important, and our doctor recommended Sugarbusters. You have to be careful with the saturated fats, as well as watch your starches. You can't find a healthier, more balanced plan than Sugarbusters! I hope you join us!

I am exhausted...I got up at 5 this morning, as I could not sleep, and now it is time for me to crawl into bed, so I will finish replies in the morning!

Hi everyone!

First things first...a couple days late, but...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MONET AND THUNDER!!:bday2you:

So, just wanted to say hi! I've been SO busy last few weeks. I can't believe how much time working two days a week sucks up! I've been stowing away with Derek on the job when he doesn't have to go far and will be back in time for the kids and THAT's always fun. Then yesterday, my smart, beautiful, talented daughter was inducted into Junior National Honor Society!! I nearly bawled my eyes out, but I forgot to bring my kleenex box, so had to control my emotions. I'll post a picture later on.

Anyhow, today is grocery day. But Derek has to take me because we have to also take my car in for service because we blew out a brake line. I won't get myself started on mechanics. I'll just get mad.

Okay...have to go make Shelley's breakfast. Will try to get back later!!

Hi Ladies

They last 2 days have been so busy I haven't had time to post. We are starting on our floors today. I sure hope it goes well. No plans for the weekend except working on the floors, etc.

Tonight my DD & I are going to an grand opening of an art studio that carries african art. At that dinner we went to last week, there was a statue of a mother and baby girraffe that she loved. It was expenseive and the lady said she had smaller things at this opening. So we will check it out.

No time for replies, but I wanted to ask Bob if Kate was upset about Tubby? I think it was time. I heard BillD From Fla is interested. I can't imagine it, but that is what they are saying.

Mo, I losta lot of wt when I first started. My first week was 8 lbs then 6. Some of it is fluids, but just make sure you are eating enough.

Got to run. Have a great weekend everyone. It is supposed to be 80 here. I can't wait.
