  • Good morning,

I'm a baaad girl! Played hookey from church. Slept lousy lat night, had nightmares for some reason. So I'm sort of lagging this morning.

The only constructive thing I've done so far is make a four bean salad. It's the only time I use canned veggies. Cut green beans, wax beans, kidney beans, chick peas, all drained, red onion cut up, 2/3 c. cider vinegar, 2 c. water, 10-12 pckets Splenda (to taste). That's it. So good. It lasts a long time because of the vinegar.

MISSY: I can't remember what I had for supper last night but I think you had LSU shirts, so must have been that theme. Doesn't the Krewe keep records? Hope Alexis and you are feeling better.

ROSALIE: I will have to get a can of chick peas and try it. I love Wasa bread.

Nothing much doing. Bitsy and I are going to take a shower, she loves that....not! Will probably take her to nursing home.

Not a football fan. To me the best part is the half time show. But there is classic figure skating on so will probably watch that. Or maybe Monk or Piorot.

    Just an exciting day.

Will check in later. Weekend posts are practically nil aren't they?
  • I am having a difficult afternoon. My blood sugar is too low, and I can't seem to get to the point where I feel good. I took a glucose tablet, then ate some triscuits and even ate a piece of chocolate, but I still feel shakey, and cold. I am sipping on some hot tea right now, with agave. Maybe that will help. I feel nauseated from it as well. I may just crawl back in bed and stay there. At least I will be a bit warmer.

SEF: I am not much of a football fan either. We go to church at night...at 6...but I may not make it tonight. I feel too yucky right now to go, and if I don't improve a lot by the time we have to leave, I am sending Tom by himself!
  • Hi, im new to the site, and im finally trying to change my lifestyle, but i really need support because i tend to give up easily, or make slip ups like today... well not much to say but im begining my journey this week and hopeful i can stay the track
  • Sef, I love Hummus too. Great snack which ever way you decide to use it. You can also add it to a pita with salad greens, etc. I've been doing allot of knitting the past few months but not much crocheting. Got 2 or 3 different projects going & enjoy doing them all. I always have a smaller item to take with me to the doctor's office & such places when I have to sit & wait, then I have an afgan that I'm doing here at home. Still making hats & scarves with the eyelash & fun furs too.

Monet, sounds like you've been over-doing it a bit 7 need more protein to get that sugar stabalized. Be careful!

Rosalie, I bought some Wasa bread the other day & am enjoying it. Hadn't had any in a while. I've been eating spinach dip with it. lol

Missy, yes, the theme that year was LSU. I still have the pictures. What fun we had!

4pack, welcome to the board! Glad to have you join us. Most of us slip up on a daily basis but we keep trying! that's all we can do.
  • I stayed home from church tonight, and rested for a while. I finally started feeling better about an hour after Tom left. I made a spinach salad with the olive oil my sister sent me for Christmas...it is Storehouse brand, and this one is lemon infused. It is really awesome stuff! The lemonyness of it is very fresh and light, but there is enough of it that you can really taste it. I want to try it with a shrimp saute'. I think it would make an awesome shrimp scampi. I used hard boiled eggs and walnuts in the salad and a bit of raspberry balsamic vinegar. It was really good! I ate a few triscuits so I had some carbs to avoid getting hypoglycemic again. I sure hope MMM is a good one...

GOING: We are glad to have you join us! Are you planning on following Sugarbusters? It is such a good, balanced, healthy plan! Tell us more about yourself! By the way, I love your avatar! What a cute kitten!

MELF: I am not sure what the problem was...I did have protein for brunch, so it was not that....I think I just did not have enough carbs with the Byetta. Sometimes it just works that way!

  • This sounds too good not to make....

    6 bacon slices

    1/4 loaf Italian bread

    1/2 lb cherry tomatoes

    1 small red onion

    1/2 head lettuce

    Dressing:

    1/4 C. mayonnaise

    1/4 t. minced garlic

    1 T. fresh lemon juice

salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Drain bacon on a paper towel. Drain all but 1 T. of the bacon fat from the pan.

Cut bread into 3/4 inch cubes. Heat fat to a moderately high heat and add the bread cubes to the pan. Saute cubes until golden. Transfer to a paper towel and cool.

In a small bowl, mix together dressing ingredients. Set aside.

In a large bowl, add torn up lettuce, onions, tomatoes, 1/2 of the bacon and 1/2 of the croutons. Add enough dressing to coat.

Divide salad among plates and top with reserved bacon and croutons.

Serves 2 as a main course.

  • I posted 2 new recipes on the board today. I plan to make the turkey meatloaf tomorrow. The Sundried tomato hummus sounds delish!!
  • MONET: In my instruction leaflet they gave me when I was first diagnosed it syas not to have chocolate for the low sugar. Some hard candy or orange juice or a can of regular soda. When you feel so bad the heck with sticking to SB. You're not going to sit there all days and pig out on it. Hope you feel better. By the way no explanation why the no chocolate thing. Hope you feel better.

4PACK: You have come to the right place. Everyone is welcome even slackards like me who strayed. There are wonderful people here.

Melf: Like you I usually have a couple of projects going. A more difficult one and then what I c all my idiots work........don't have to think about it, just do it. The problem with this afghan is my hearts not in it. Don't really like the pattern but Kay did so I started it. I never like to give up on a project so I will finish it.

    Thanx for the hummus ideas.

BOB: I wish you could show more entusiasm about things!!!! My gang was happy their team won.

Recipe sounds good to me. Has bacon must be good.

Where did the day go? Spent it watching skating and then sleeping. Also Bitsy and I had a shower. When I bathe her have to do me too.

Tomorrow we entertain. Tuesday morning I go to nursing home and then have Bible Study group here in afternoon. The first Tuesday is the only Tuesday I go to NH, that's because we entertain the furst Monday at another facility.

    Gotta go.
  • YAY!! GO PEYTON!! FINALLY!!

Replies later...gotta get Shelley's lunch put together...
  • MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!

Well, I'm up and rolling....let's make that...been up all night...just wasn't sleepy! Guess I was still keyed up from the GAME!!!!

I've got a lot to do today and plan to get started early. Hope everyone is staying warm...It's chilly down this way and the wind has really been blowing.
My DB's wedding is this coming Saturday...they are expecting a HUGE SNOW on Friday and now they are concerned that everyone who is coming from out of town won't get there. I'm sorry we're going to miss it, but I sure don't want to get stuck in the snow. I would rather go in the Spring and be able to spend some quality time with them when there isn't a crowd of people around...selfish? I think not...at least I hope not.

Hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!

  • Hi Ladies,

I am so excited my Colts won! After that start, I was worried. So I am wearing bright blue today to celebrate for them. It is bitter cold here, In the teens with a wind chill way below zero. It is supposed to be 5 tonight. Brrrrr!

My gosh you all have been busy over the weekend. I don't know where to start catching up.

I was down 3.2 pounds at WW Sat. More importantly, my DD lost 4 more pounds. I was so proud of her. It was her birthday and they went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. She did get what she wanted, but cut it in half when they rought it and did not bring the half home. I think that is a good start.

Bob, glad to see you are happy again, even if it is just for a ballgame.

Tech, sorry to hear about your dad. I can imagine how worried you and your mom are. Send BOB over to check on them.

Missy, hope you and Alexis are feeling better today.

4-Pack, Welcome to our group. You will get lots of support here. Lifestyle changes are hard, but just take one day at a time. Jump in and ask questions.

Pika, Welcome! 192 to 148 is a great job. We all tend to slip up and put so me of it back on. We are human. But this is a great place. Lots of friends and support here. Have you read the book? Ask questions, someone will have an answer.

Heart, did you make it through the weekend?

Sef, Melf, Rosalie, and anyone else I missed, sorry, got to run, will catch you next time.

    Have a great day.
  • Good Morning

BOB - You think you got it cold - come up here. It's about 4F but with the wind chill it's about -12F. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I almost froze my butt off coming home last night, the car seat was so darn cold. I'm even thinking about buying an undershirt - something I haven't owned since I was a kid. Must be getting old.

Well there was no change on the scale this morning. I thought I was doing good this past week. I've been using Fit-day again and my calories yesterday were about 1600 and about 1700-1800 the rest if the week. The last time I used Fit-day I was able to lose with that amount of calories (I was about the same weight as I am now). So I will try to be patient. .

Went for my walk this morning. Now have to get in the shower and go to badminton. I'm going out for lunch with a few old friends to-day - hope I can keep things under control.

Solly - Hi. I just see you have posted while I am here typing. Will have to read your post later..

Gotta run. Will be back later.

  • Good Morning.

I must be coming southern..........it's chilly this morning. Hope everyone is off to a good start . Bitsy wants her breakfast, will check in later.
  • MM just nice to me this am! During the week it went as high as 196 but it's down again to 191.6 so I'm taking it! LOL I know sometimes I really don't try hard enough. I slack big time & eat the wrong things. Some days I'm in the poor pitiful me mode & induldge. I have yet to find that mind-set again that I had when I first started SB & KNEW that I was determined to lose this excess weight or else! That's what I need! The determination! The reason to do it. I deserve to feel better & take better care of myself so why do I continuously do the wrong things? OK< that's my pep talk of the day now let's get cracking! LOL Honestly, I'm starting the day with this thought in mind & will give today an honest to goodness try! Planning to make the turkey meatloaf for supper tonight. But right now I'm out of here...out of the house!
