Default green tea and fruit juice....

whats the deal with fruit juices??? are they good or bad??? Some say they are fattening and others say they are good for clearing impurities but i'm confused!!!

Also, does green tea have calories in it??? If so how many per 100mls??? What good does it do your body????

Well, the deal with fruit juice (as I understand it, anyhow), is that it is loaded with sugar, and therefore not recommended to be had in large quantities, or as a substitute for H2O. As for the green tea, you got me! ;-P

Here is a link to info on Green Tea:

I guess the main concern would be with the caffine. Other than that. It looks pretty safe. Of course there will probably be a study next week than you shouldn't drink it because of this or that. Who knows anymore?

Default My two cents on fruit juice..

Basically, you're better off eating the whole fruit rather than drinking juice.

Despite what The Juiceman (on informercials) tells you, juice is pretty much 100% sugar. Compare the calories of a glass of OJ to a medium-sized orange. More calories AND you lose the benefits of the whole fruit (such as fiber). Another bonus with eating whole fruit as opposed to drinking juice is that the fruit will stay in your stomach and digestive system, keeping you full while your system assimilates it. Juice just runs right on through (of course, your bod will take the calories and store them as fat ASAP!)

Default WW Juice points

There are times I just want the juice...

And I just go by WW points - 1/2 cup = 1 point 1 cup = 2 pts

For me I like anywhere between 1 - 2 cups of juice at a time - yes I'm a guzzler - so I just count it out to either 2 - 4 points.

I agree with everyone that the fruit or veggies lose all that wonderful fiber nutrition and bulk that helps stave off hunger pangs, but sometimes you feel like a juice!

I heard in many many WW meetings that green tea has no - zero - points. But watch out for that caffeine (sp?).

Sometime's I alternate with mint or cranberry tea (both have no caffeine)

I agree with Mrs. Jim on the fruit vs. juice issue!

Regarding green tea: There are no calories in it unless you add something like sugar, etc. You can buy decaf. green tea if you are concerned about caffeine. Supposedly, the main health benefit of green tea is that it contains antioxidants. I think there have been some conflicting studies on the amounts of antioxidants, however, I don't believe there are any concerns on the safety of drinking green tea. In other words, drink it if you like it without fear! Check out Celestial Seasonings...they have different types. One with extra antioxidants, a jasmine one, lemon flavored, etc. I like to make it iced during these hot summer months! Something different to drink than just water all the time! Add a squeeze of lemon and some non-caloric sweetener and you are all set!
