Hello everyone,
I would like to share some wonderful news.
On October 12 I decided it was do or die time. I was 185 pounds (5'7", 41 y/o) and living a pretty unhealthy life. So, I went back to swimming with the Masters Swim Club, three or four days a week. Usually when I joined back up I would ease into it, only doing part of the workout. Not this time. I was doing nearly 3 km each time. I also decided to once again track all my calories, using a program called Protrack (like Fitday) which I had success with before. On non-swimming days I would try to do some stuff in the gym, plus yoga or something.
I had a couple of goals, which I shared with no one. One, to lose 30 pounds by the time my husband and I left for Costa Rica on Feb. 15 - I figured four months was reasonable. Two, to run 5 km, which is something I don't think i've ever done (I was a very good athlete in high school, but that was a long time ago!!). The running goal was pretty vague, but I was pretty serious about the weight one.
Anyway, yesterday I was at the track. A couple of days earlier I ran 3 km. Yesterday I thought, well, give it a go, so I just kept going. Ta dah!! I was red as a beet, even my eyes were red

, but I did it! And then last night went I went to swim practice - two big workouts in one day.
This morning I weighed in and... ta dah!! 155 pounds, 30 pounds lost. I am walking on air (and not falling through!!

).
I thought when I started 145 would be a good goal, since I vaguely remember weighing that when I was on the swim team in high school, but it's pretty clear now that 135 makes more sense. I'm not thrilled with all the saggy wrinkly bits, but I would a million times rather have them than all that fat.
Anyway, these forums have been a big inspiration to me, so I wanted to share my success with you and hope that it can also be an inspiration.
cheerio,
Sue
