  • Hello,
I found this board after looking for a calorie needs calculator and decided to share.

I started out in July of 2003 at 400 pounds. I cut out the junk food and started walking a few blocks in the morning.
A month later my wife bought an exercise bike. I started riding it 10 minutes in the evenings. (it was all I could do)
10 minutes turned into 15 and 15 led to 20. As the weather cooled off I was riding the bike in the morning as well. By December I was riding 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night. Then the bike broke, so I joined a gym right around the corner from my house. I kept with working out twice a day and hit the 100 pound mark on x-mas eve. I added weights to my cardio training and keprt at it. By April I was doing 45 minutes of cardio in the morning and half an hour of weights plus another 45 minutes of cardio at night.

I cut the evening cardio out in late April. My weight training takes an hour a night and since it's still summer I do almost all my cardio outside. Currently I switch between running 4 miles and bike riding 14 miles 6 days a week. I've done a few 5ks now and plan on doing my first 10k in early november.

I keep my diet pretty clean, though since I'm pretty active I take in alot of food.

    Yesteday I ate:
    6:00 am oatmeal
    running
8:30 5 hard boiled egg whites and an apple
11:00 foot long turkey subway with no cheese, oil, or mayo
2:00 can of tuna and an orange
    5:00 bannana
    weights
6:30 3 turkey burgers and baked potato, can of green beans
9:30 Natuarl PB sandwitch on whole wheat, protien shake.

    Here's my current pics

  • CONGRATULATIONS! I'm only about 30 pounds over my goal, but in 3 pounds or so I'll hit the 150-pounds-lost point myself. And, when I started exercising, FIVE minutes on a bike was all I could do! And now I walk briskly 30 to 45 minutes five days per week. So, I agree you're at a huge milestone that should be celebrated with tickertape parades! Good for you.

But, boy, you gotta get some more vegetables in ya! Fresh ones, too, not canned! And, make sure you are getting some added fat in your day -- the PB is good for that, but you might want a little more elsewhere in your day. You need SOME fat for vitamin absorption and for healthy functioning of lots of stuff.
  • Thanks, I usually do alright on veggies but yesterday was pretty light. I take flax seed oil to get some added fat, but I know I need more.
  • Congrats on your weight loss. You look maaaavalus! Keep up the good work.
