Like when you stand on the scale, do you hold your stomach in? I realize that I always do, I guess I think it will somehow make me more stoic and therefore weigh less.
I also get off and on three times, and take the lowest of the three readings.
Here's another one: After nearly a year of WW, my sister was ounces away from goal. So they let her remove her jewelry, her belt, her socks. Still no good. She went to the ladies room, took off her underwear, got dressed again and weighed in one last time. Voila!
Mine is like a ship at sea-- if I lean to port or starboard, I can weigh five pounds more. And I can tell when I'm about to drop a pound, it wobbles between two numbers excitedly, then an up and a down for a couple of days, before it settles on the lower number. It's as if it can't make up it's tiny little mind, lol!
lol. oh how funny yet true. i have done them all and more. when i get on and it is a nice low number i am on the scale every few minutes checking. but if i don't like the number i won't go near the thing for the rest of the day.. straight out of the shower , stomach tucked. step gently on to the scale.. that's my fav way to weigh lol
My WW leader told us that when you're gaining, you avoid the scale like it's on fire. But when you're losing, you go on every time you go to the bathroom. Ain't it the truth?
180 Chick, I lost it with WW and I also started walking (literally a couple of blocks, then increased gradually until I now do 4 miles in one hour). I also now like (yes I said like -- never did before) step aerobics, pilates, general toning, whatever -- outside classes (tapes only when necesssary).
WW focus for me was on portion control (e.g., cutting the entree in half, sprinkling tons of salt on half so I wouldn't be tempted), putting ALL snacks in one-point ziplock bags, avoiding things I can get any time, like a Kit Kat at CVS, having great chocolate substitutes (I am OD-ing on Miss Meringue cookies but they do it for me and you get 6-8 for one point). Good luck, it is so worth it, take it slow, that's what has worked for me big time.
I have an entire scale ritual. I weigh myself in the morning, but first I must shower (remove that weighty dead skin), dry my hair (no extra water weight), and brush my teeth (that plaque can weigh a ton)
I know it doesn't really make a difference, but I feel better about it.
180chick - That bit about the clothes isn't necessarily true. When I'm wearing jeans, a tank top covered by a t-shirt covered by a sweater it may make a 5 pound difference, but clothes don't all weigh the same.
Wouldn't it be great if you had an outfit with NEGATIVE weight? Then you could put it on, step on the scale, and bingo! 5 pounds less than you were before!
I'm a bit late in this, but I thought of a couple of peculiarities I have that I haven't seen mentioned before.
I weigh myself nekkid first thing in the morning before I eat anything...Which I've had others tell me they also do, & actually saw recommended in a magazine.
What makes me wierd is this: I mentally subtract weight for things like my hair (which is very thick & reaches my butt, that's got to be good for a pound right?) and both my breasts ("I" cup ) & the milk in them. Probably good for another five or ten pounds, huh? I don't actually write down a so-doctored weight as the "official" one, I go with what the scale says, but I think it anyway.

When I had my breast reduction, they took a total of something like 6 pounds! Totally fair to subtract The hair thing is a good idea.....maybe I'll have dh hold mine up next time
I weigh after showering, naked, teeth brushed, hair dried (water weight has a whole new twist here), breath out ...(air has to weigh something, huh?) and step on the scale v -e - r - y s - l - o - w - l - e - y. Makes me feel good!
I traced my footprint onto my scale so that I step in the same place everytime and stand as straight as a board - and strain to see the # over my boobs! :0
I always weigh on the fitness center scales, so that I'm not tempted to weight 500 times a day at home. I'm always wearing the exact same workout clothing. Same shoes, socks, hairtie, etc. But here's the real trick: I weigh AFTER my workout. . .can easily vary by 3 lbs before and after b/c of dehydration. . .and it helps motivate me to workout harder!
