I have been losing weight all of my life unsuccessfully. However, this past year I have joined a PRISM group and they have been extremely supportive. I started about March 2000 weighing 179 lbs--5'4". I currently weigh 146. I was down to 142 but quit attending the weekly meetings in the fall (before reaching my goal) and gained 7 lbs. My biggest challenge is replacing the fat image with the "real me" image--140lbs and healthy. I know if I plan my meals, and continue to give myself positive feedback I will achieve my goal and stay there.

Congratulations Salad Queen!
I think that getting used to the new you takes some time. It's hard for us to see what other people see. But I think that if you take it one day at a time, it will come.

I'm not familiar with a PRISM group. Could you explain a little bit about it?

Thanks.
Ann

Prism is a Christian based program. Group meetings are often held in churches or in homes.

To get rid of the pounds, calories are limited to 1200 a day for women under 250lbs. No sugar, no white flour. There are four phases. In the first phase, you do not eat any breads, potatoes, crackers, popcorn. These items get added back in throughout the remaining 3 phases. Once you attain your goal weight, you increase your calories 100 per day (in one week intervals) until you quit losing weight.

Although the "diet" part of it is pretty basic, it is the reading material, working on self image, focus on God, and support group that PRISM really focuses on.

As you probably know, many of us have lost, gained, lost, gained, and on and on. The PRISM program focuses on changing your perception of yourself so that you can see the "real person" God created.
