Wowee! I slept in until 3:30! This is getting crazy. I was in bed at nine as yesterday was a very long and physical day. Tonight I'll try to stay up later and see if that gives me a more reasonable wake-up time.
With all the folks posting, it's really impossible to do personal replies to everyone who posts in the daily. However, I do read and pop in and out during the day.
Today the guys will be here at 8 again - chip-chip-chip! They have removed half a truckload of mortar from the basement foundation and the house hasn't fallen down - yet. I'm really glad The Girls aren't here as they'd be going crazy with barking. I've been working upstairs to get away from the noise and am finally caught up on ironing and filing.
I'll go to town to get my replacement glasses and then to foot care mid-afternoon. The Long Horn re-opens after a two week Christmas break so that just might be my dinner treat - not wings!
I was in bed fer 8PM last night...some days I just feel like someone pulled the plug on me... so off to bed I went and slept til 4 this morn.
It sure was "noisy" in the Chicken Coop yesterday!!

(((waves))) to Ruthie & Schatzi
Ruth - good morning! Sounds like me - we turned in around 9:30 or so last night, and I was up around 1:30. I swear my body doesn't know what to do with sleep anymore! Except that it always seems to remember just at the most inconvenient times!
Schatzi - looks like a variety of stag beetle? I could see how one o' those might be a little startling galloping out from the woodpile at you! If that's what it is, I think they are detritous eaters - pretty much harmless, unless you are a piece of rotting wood!
Soon - tell us about your new boss when you get a chance! I want to know how it's going!
As usual, I have a full plate (not of food!) today: I have to finish my Geology unit 1 assignment, which was divided into 3 parts (the first part was due Saturday). I need to review someone else's part A for my part B, then my part C involves observing something (can be pretty much anything, I think), then formulating a minimum of 20 questions based on my observations, then selecting one question, formulating several hypotheses for that question to answer it, and then predicting what might happen should each hypothesis prove correct. Basically, it's an exercise in scientific method and thinking. It won't be difficult, but it may be time consuming.
I also need to finish my readings for both geology and social psych, and finish responding to the posts due yesterday (I have to respond to a minumum of three in a substantial manner by friday morning).
I would like to get a start on my geology homework, if I manage to finish all the above with time leftover.
And the living room has been hit by Hurricane Alex, suffering widespread, but superficial, damages as a result - clean up needs to commence asap as this particular "hurricane" is notorious for his encores!
And of course, there is always laundry to wash/fold/put away and dishes to do!
Oh - before I space - I made one of the dump chicken recipes last night - it was quite tasty! It was for "Peachy Dump Chicken." It was mostly OP for phase 2/3. It did have OJ and a wee bit of honey in the sauce, but most of that didn't get eaten anway - it just flavored the chicken while it cooked. The sauce also had chopped peaches, ginger, soy sauce, and orange zest - if anyone's interested, I can post it in the recipe forum. We ate the cooked peaches, but left most of the juices behind. I cooked broccoli with it, and as a treat to my poor, tired, recovering-from-illness DH, I made biscuits (replacing half of the flour with ww pastry flour so they wouldn't be quite so bad). All in all, it was pretty yummy. I had planned to make a salad, too, but now I'm coming down with whatever and I just didn't have the energy.
Not much going on here. On the countdown to our anniversary cruise. By this time Friday morning I'll be standing in line for security at the airport. I plan on wearing slip on-off shoes so I don't have to deal with the hassle of finding a spot to put them back on after I've gone through Checkpoint Charlie.
I never did hit my goal of losing another 10 pounds before the cruise. Thank you so much food poisoning! My body just has never been the same. I never seem to know what food might be a "trigger". Yesterday it was saurkraut. Who knew??? I ate broccoli 2 nights before and was fine.
On the cruise I plan to eat plenty of protein, avoid things like pasta and other junk. (My sister's advice...she said avoid the stuff you can eat at home and go for the expensive stuff like lobster and prime rib!)
I do plan on giving myself permission to enjoy one decadent dessert each day--BUT--with the caveat that I hit the gym every day or do a heckuva lot of walking every day. I may not lose anything (not even planning on it) but I may just burn off the extra calories/carbs I've indulged in. And water with lemon will be my beverage of choice. In that hot tropical weather, you can become dehydrated easily, so I will be drinking plenty!
This weekend I traded up on my spinning wheel. I got a wheel I'd been wanting for about a year and sold my "training wheel" to a new spinner. Net cost to me- $50.
I don't really believe in New Year's Resolutions, but I did decide that I was going to start taking advantage of opportunities when they present themselves and start thinking positive. (This all came about when I got the axe over Christmas). When I saw that new wheel available and right in front of my nose, I went for it!
Ruth, IKWYM about all the posts! It's gotten to be like a mad birdhouse around here! I hardly know who's who!
Schatzi, did you ever figure out what that bug was yesterday???
Soon, HAGD at work...hopefully the boss will be merciful and the meeting won't last 2 hours. UGH! I hate meetings...biggest time-wasters on the planet.
Hope all you chicks to come have a wonderful day on the Beach~~
Mama and Soon, tell your boss to have stand-up meetings. I used to do that and it sure sped things up!
Heather, you and I need to go and sign up for sleep therapy classes. I'd like to be able to just take out my battery and go straight to dreamland for 7 or 8 hours.
Scahtzi, thanks a heck of a lot for posting that bug picture! Yick!
My vanilla cream bath is ready and I'd better hop into it before the work crew gets here. There's a new guy coming today. I'll check him out for you.
Happy Tuesday!
Morning Ruth, Schatzi, H-Ko, Mama, and Soon- Have a great OP day!!
A quick check-in this morning before I load up the baby. DH has the 4 year old this morning so there is only one kiddo to pack up.
Today is official WI for me and I am down 5 pounds. I know this first 5 went quickly because I went from feeding frenzy over the holidays to strcit eating. I don't care- I will take it as it puts me at my lowest P\post-pregnancy weight yet. Only 4 pounds to go until all baby weight is gone. Of course, Meg is 7 months old, so it has taken me awhile!!
Good Morning all. Another long day in store. I exercised early this morning. Next, get my son to school and off to another day of avoiding snacks at work. After work I go to job number two - I clean for my mother two days a week. Will be a late supper again tonight. My weight has stalled for the last two days and that hasn't helped my motivation. I was really hoping to see a pound gone this morning.
Hi everyone. This is my first time posting on the daily board. I've been a lurker for a while and recently decided to join in the conversation
I started SBD in April and it has been great for me. I got within about 10 pounds of my goal and decided to stick it there for a while. Well, transitioning to phase 3 is HARD. Things slipped a little... not too bad. Then December struck. I didn't do well. So back on phase 1 for a couple weeks and doing well.
I can say that I feel so much better and in control when I'm really sticking with it.
Looking forward to a good healthy day. This is my rest day from exercise, but have an awsome menu for my day in great part thanks to the board.
Have a good day everyone (even tho I can't eat on phase 1 <sigh>
freaky - don't be discouraged! Lots of things can cause a temporary stall, and besides - weight can fluctuate so much from day to day. That's why a lot of people advocate weighing in only once a week at most - if at all! Maybe you could try taking a break from the scales for a bit if it's getting you down to weigh daily? Also, you don't have much to lose, so it's not likely you'd see rapid weight loss like people who have much greater amounts to shed will see. A pound or so a week is a nice, reasonable, and healthy amount to lose for most people, and the nearer you are to your body's ideal weight (which is not always the same thing as your goal weight!), the slower the weight will come off. The important thing is that you are eating healthfully!
Oooh Mama! Cruisin!!! I loooooove to go on Cruises, you must come back tanned and happy! Enjoy Darlin! Whenever you mention yer spinning wheel, I start to sing that song from the 60s...What goes up Most come down..spinnin wheels gotta go round...
ANd I like yer new Tude darlin! Carpe Diem!!!!!
Doodness: and thanks fer the recipes you've been contributing
Kiko Wow Time flies!!! and you've done excellent darlin
Soon I'm with Ruth, I use to call Stand ups all the time.. Use ta put the other managers on alert that if they see a Mob in my office, they aint there to hang me!
HKO Hurrican Alex!!! You're a Riot!
Freaky HKO is right Hon, don't get discouraged...Weight will go up and down everyday! Go with weighing 1x a week... I like Wednesdays personally.. And only once a week, because although I know my weight will flucuate, if it shows a stand still or a "gain" it really effects my mood...silly I know!
Alright girly girls! I got to git my hiney in gear fer the day!!!!!!
