Weekend Beach Chat 9/3-4
Good morning, Chicklets~~ :coffee:
Good news for me to report...I'm DOWN another pound! :cheer: A new low to 178!! :cb: I tell ya, those little tips I shared the other day really DO work!! That...and you can't eat like a Percheron if you're built like a Shetland Pony. So, what's happening on your stretch of the sand? Over here, our governor has graciously given us a month-long holiday from paying our gasoline taxes...that should save us about $.15 a gallon at the pump. But I think it will take a few days for the prices to reflect it...yesterday we were still looking at between $3.15 and #3.20 a gallon. I finally got some much needed rest/sleep and my fibro flare has subsided quite a bit. Still don't want to tempt fate, so I'm going to behave myself and not over-do it this weekend. I'm hoping I'll get some writing done and I'd like to play with dye since we have warm sunny DRY weather for a change. :D Okay, tea is brewed...would you like milk or lemon? |
Make Mine High Test Cawfee.. with a spleech of 1/2 and 1/2, tich of Splenda .. Thank you! That's wonderful Mamacita One more pound is one less to loose!..I'm gonna have ta do a search for your tips..I need them :D
DH got all the pictures hung in our new nest and things are starting to shape up nicely... We're going to work on the yard todayand maybe I can persuade him to do a little exploring ..There's a few lakes and nature trails all within 10 miles of here.. where we can do a little hiking and maybe get the kayaks in ... All work and no play is making me a cranky girl! PS Mama, I found your tips... Twice a day ( I do mid morning and late afternoon) take a level tablespoon of sugarfree Metamucil. ....Is that straight or do you mix it with water... hmmm and hot lemon water? Ok I'm game! I'll give it a go! |
Good morning, Mamacita! Thanks for making tea 'cuz I really need it today! Good for your Guv witht eh tax relief. We are paying $1.29 a litre which converts to C$4.88 a gallon and we don't even get our gas from you guys!
My neighbours partied on their deck from 1 until 3 last night. What a ruckus! Even the Girls were woofing at the noise. I won't complain because they are usually very quiet and were having a sort of family funfest after a concert at the Park. This morning I have to throw together a blueberry pie to take to The Island this afternoon. My boat taxi comes at 3 to take me up for an early dinner. I hope to be home well before 8 as coming down the Lake at night is pretty scary. I'm thinking of taking Hershey with me as she'll enjoy the freedom to roam and the chance to swim. Miss Lucy will have to stay home because of her delicate condition. Looks like a lovely day coming up to start the long weekend! Enjoy! |
Morning Chicks !
Mamacita -I'd like my tea with milk please! Congrats on your continuing loss - 178 must feel great! :D I wish they would give us a tax holiday on gas - at around $7 a gallon in most places its a killer and around 80% of that is tax. Well its a gorgeous day here - temps mid 70's (mid 20's C for our metric chicks) and a light breeze and just perfect. :beach: :beach: We've had a fabulous summer - but I must say I do love the Autumn time. All of my fruit trees are dropping right now - plums, damsons and apples. I dont collect them, just live them on the ground for the winged and furry creatures to help themselves to. September is an odd month here. It can still be summer right to the end of the month, or it can turn really cold with night frosts and such.Hopefully summer will linger right through to the end of the month. Have a great day on the beach Chicks! |
Um ok how did that happen? Ruth and Schatzi were definitely not here when I posted just now. <shakes head>
So sorry ladies - Good Morning to both of you! Schatzi - getting pictures up and so on does start to make it feel cosy and like home doesnt it? Ruth I am drooling at the thought of your blueberry pie - how do you manage not to eat the whole thing? |
Good morning Schatzi...I can relate to the all work and no play stuff. I get positively WITCHY if I'm forced to be more productive than I think is fair!
I can't find where I posted my tips. :( But it's simple, really... 1. Start the day with a honkin' big glass of hot water with the juice of half a lemon or lime squeezed into it (that's about 1 Tablespoon). Anyone with gallbladder problems will quickly appreciate this. It seems to help emulsify the fats and gets them moving along and out of the body faster. 2. Eat a minimum of 4 Cups of Veggies every day. I'm not that fond of salads, except when I get a craving for them, so my Amazing Veggie Soup is a lifesaver. That and grilled squash. 3. Drink Your Water. Your skin, joints and digestive tract will love you for it. If you don't like water, try doing what I did for a couple of weeks...buy UNSWEETENED cranberry juice...you can find it in the natural foods section of your grocery store and it's expensive...dilute it down to about 1 part juice to 8 parts water. Drink it. Your body will love you for it. If it's too sour, dilute it down even more to 1 part juice to 10 parts water. 4. Twice a day take a dose of Sugar Free Metamucil ( I do mid-morning and just before dinner) This helps me feel full and keeps things working smoothly, IYKWIM. ;) 5. Move Your Butt. Even if you just march in place to some music in the privacy of your bedroom for 20 minutes it's better than being a slug. 6. Learn Portion Control. Like I said, you can't eat like a Percheron if you're built like a Shetland Pony. 7. If you've simply GOT to eat that piece of Godiva Chocolate--eat it and get it over with...don't keep eating other stuff to try and stop the craving...you'll only end up eating more calories/carbs/fats/junk and not be satisfied anyway... And don't beat yourself up about it. Just go on from there and be mindful of your indulgence with extra diligence the next day or so. |
Good morning Ruth and Atemis--
Ruth the water taxi sounds like so much fun!! Hope you and Hershey have a great time today! Artemis--We're trying to get a tax revolution going here...overthrowing the Internal Revenue in favor of a National Retail Sales Tax. Wouldn't it be lovely if you could do the same thing over there??? No more income tax, no more VAT, no more whatever other hidden taxes they keep opening your veins for! Sorry couldn't help the vampire alliteration! :D |
Mamacita--thanks for reposting your tips! I found a piece of them but not all these words of wisdom...BTW, I now have all the ingredients for your supersoup..will let you know how it turns out!
Artemis! DAHLINK..you asked me if I was doing FlyLady... I heard of the site on this forum and did a "fly by" to the web... Ah a lady after my own heart..and as I have done the decluttering..I will now work on the top to bottom cleaning list..(I downloaded all the "zones") GADZOOKS y'all!! 4 and 7 dollars a gallon!!! :fr: We're up to over 3 here... apparently NC gets their gas from those Louisiana pipelines..and the gouging has begun! |
Artemis, What part of England do you call home? My Dad's family hails from a place that technically no longer exists, having been absorbed when the counties were re-arranged...but the closest city is Bolton, Lancashire.
I've been over there 3 times now and have loved every trip more than the previous...can't wait to get back again sometime. :) |
Good morning, girls!
What are you all doing up so early!? :sunny: Mamacita, congratulations on the pound! :hat: Sounds like you've got a good weekend planned. :) I missed your tips... I'll have to go back and look for them, because I NEED some! Schatzi, hiking and boating... how nice. I'll bet you get a lot of stress relief from doing that. :) Ruth, I'm glad I'm not your neighbour... I'd be twice my size with all the baking and cooking you do. :ink: A boat taxi, eh? Cool! Artemis, you're having lovely weather! So are we... I love the autumn, too. It's my favourite time of year. Oh! There are the tips! Thank you, Mamacita. :) Thank you for the support people gave me this week re: the two pounds I've gained, DESPITE walking an hour every day this week and eating better. sigh. The scale still reads the same. :( I haven't been using Fitday this week... been too busy. I'd better start up with that again this weekend... Mamacita, you know what would be nice? If those who AREN'T paying enough income tax would PAY it! The corporations hide behind tax shelters and write-offs. The rich stay rich, while the rest of us suffer from lack of funding for social programs, etc. The vampire alliteration is SO you, darling. I'm going to catch up on the news I've missed this week... back in a bit... |
Good morning, Ellis--
Don't get discouraged about the scale not budging...it will...it's taken me a MONTH to lose that pound!! On the subject of taxes...that's why I'm so amped about this Fair Tax thing...it's FAIR... no one can hide from it unless they hole up in a cave somewhere and totally live off the land. Every gallon of milk they buy, every new car, every diamond ring...it all contributes to the coffers. :D |
Mamacita, that tax sounds like a good idea to me. We have similar taxes here. A "Goods and Service Tax". People complain about it, but if you're going to consume, you're going to pay for it, and as far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. ;)
Heather! You have a concussion!?! What have I missed? You poor darling... get better soon, hon. :grouphug: Pearshape, I'm glad you're catching up on your sleep. There's nothing worse than being sleep-deprived. Get back on track with your eating today, girl!! :drill: Laurie, how was the Mark Twain tour? Today I'll be making bedroom curtains. Please notice them when you come for a visit. :lol3: Little Chick, I'm glad you've got the weekend off, because you sound FRAZZLED, girl! Hey, only three days to go!! I wonder if I go running shoe shopping today, if it'll be a zoo out there... nothing like leaving things to the last minute. Weezle, that's great news that Terry is going to be "Beaching" with you! I hope it goes well. Dana, sounds like you're well on your way to impressing your relatives come Thanksgiving! :hat: Keep it up, girl! Barb1037, take care of that cold, hon. :grouphug: Get lots of rest this weekend... Kyemom, continued prayers for your Mom. :grouphug: As you said, thank God she's alive. So many sad stories... :( Sweet Tea, you're sick, too, hon! :( Have a wonderful weekend with your Mom... how blessed you are to have such a good relationship with her. :) Candy, congratulations on the 9 pounds!! :hat: Beach Bum, that's great news about your son!! What a relief, eh? ;) Fl_Mom, I'm so glad to hear that your MIL is doing better. Please keep us posted, hon. RNMom, WHAT is all this talk about CHRISTMAS!?!? You're putting me in a panic, darling. Quote:
Susi, how are you doing? The weight loss is going great for you, hon! :hat: I have MAJOR cleaning plans this weekend. This house has got to be shipshape for the start of school this coming week. :drill: And I'm going to cook some make-ahead meals so I'm not floundering (actually, I never flounder. I just call for take-out) for dinner ideas during the week. |
Evening Chickies....
Mamacita.. WooHoo on the weightloss :bravo: down to a new low is wonderful news Schatzi... kayaking sounds like great fun - we also love bushwalking. I hope the attempt to drag your hubby is successful ;) Ruth... enjoy yor day at the island Artemis... We are having similar weather here in Oz, but we have just started spring.. it is beautiful at the moment. Ellis... Wanna come and clean my house??? :D we are a bit of a shambles at the moment. Tomorow is Father's Day, so we are going to the Spring Harvest Festival at our inner city organic farm... should be a great day. Today, I basically spent the entire day on the computer, but not really getting any university work done that I need to :^: So i will hit the books tomorrow afternoon. Hope that you strip of beach is looking comfy for the weekend. |
Morning chicks....what a chatty bunch we have here this morning. Today was my day to sleep in. HA. DH calls me at 7:30 to tell me nothing really....so I go crawl back in bed nice and toasty start to drift off again.... and he calls again.GRRRRR. Oh well I am up and showered and dressed. Waiting for dd to hurry up. We are off shopping she needs a few more pairs of jeans and both girls need sneakers. Ellis I guess I am a last minute girl like you. Ususally I don't like to head out shopping but I am thinking that most of the city is either at the Stones concert in Moncton or they will be heading to the fair.
Well I guess I need to run dd is ready and we must dash I will post to you all later. Our gas here is 1.39 per liter. And they say it will be going up again maybe. We have an oil refinery right here in Saint John go figure. Well chicks really got to dash dd is ready to fly. |
Neither, please, Mamacita - I like my tea black and unsweetened, like my coffee. Congrats on the weight loss!
Ellis - Enjoy your nice clean house when you are all done! As for me, DS used my skull as a pounding table for his forehead. He has a really hard skull, and judging from the symptoms, I had a minor concussion. I'm not big on going to the dr's, so no official yea or nay. But I had nausea and dizziness, as well as a splitting headache (which is now much better but still persisting). Not the end of the world - SIL apparently broke MIL's collarbone once in much the same way when she was younger than DS. Oh, these children! Ruth - have a fun time! Mmmm, blueberry pie! I hope you can sleep okay tonight. Artemis - I love fall too! Well, honestly, I love all the seasons - I get tired of each one just as the next one is around the corner. So now I'm ready for autumn! Simmering kettles of soups and stews, the rustle of dry leaves blowing in the breeze (mighty stiff breezes, too, where I live, a few blocks off the Sound!), thunderstorms and windstorms, and fireworks on every deciduous tree! Schatzi - have fun exploring! What is "FlyLady"? Marianna - have fun at your festival! |
Hi, little chick - my sympathies on the "lonely male" syndrome! Hope you get some rest in today - it sounds like you need it, with your busy life!
|
Holy hoodeehoo! All these posts and I've been gone only an hour! Three of us were posting at the same time.
I'm not even going to think about catching up but need to explain that the "water taxi" is just my cousin Ian and his boat! We're pretty low-tech here! The blueberry pie is in the oven, I'm dressed and ready to vacuum the downstairs while it bakes. I sure miss Gail! Damn her for getting a real job! Super long weekend wishes to all! |
Holy hoodeehoo indeed! GEEZ people. Good morning everyone!
I didn't sleep in, just so you all know. I was out walking/running because my HUSBAND wanted to go. (Did you all hear that? My HUSBAND!) I think he might actually be turning over a new leaf! Nobody faint. I was planning on working out later on today when he's gone, and I still can, so I'll have extra minutes today! Wahoo! Gas dropped to $2.99/gal for the cheap stuff here yesterday, after being up to $3.33/gal the day before. Sheeeesh. It would be more cost-efficient to hoof it everywhere, but Springfield is pretty spread out. It takes me 20 minutes to DRIVE to work, and I walk a mile in about 20 minutes on average. It would probably take me an hour and 45 minutes to get to work, and it's not necessarily safe for me to go walking in my neighborhood. Glad all is well for most of you this morning. I'll pop on later to check in and see how your days are going. |
Hiya
Good morning ladies! (morning on my edge of the pond) Busy day in the ER so far.....
some lady with severe abdominal pain after eating a huge dinner last night......   some guy that has chest pain but doesn't want the FAA to know, he's a pilot....   I love the ER, but I do like REAL stuff. I've behaved this week on phase 1 and have been rewarded with a 4 pound weight loss!!!!   I think I'll stick out phase one for 1 more week for the full two weeks. Then I'm going to have a bowl of oatmeal! :chef: :chef: :chef: Mama, congrats on your weight loss! Wow! Thanks for the tips. Weezle, congrats on your extra workout! Be glad the dh wants to go! Ruth send a little pie my way............mmmmmmm blueberry! H-ko, hope you're feeling better! Take it easy today! little chick, take the phone off the hook! It's Saturday morning, sleep in day!!! Marianna, a spring harvest festival sounds wonderful, especially since I'm staring winter in the face. Ellis, you are certainly ambitious! I feel the same way. I was cleaning out my fridge at 10:00 PM last night, that felt so good I cleaned out the cupboards. Finally at midnight I decided to get to bed since 0500 comes dang early! There were a few things I didn't get done, do you think you could come over? :D Artemis, the fruit trees sound lovely! Enjoy your fall day! Oops, gotta go give some pain med.....be right back! |
Good morning!
Ellis We will be joining you on the cleaning today. DH is actually off for the enitre weekend, so we are going to bet this house functioning again. :) Ruth Yum! Blueberry pie..... Gas here is about $3.09- it is a killer on the already suffering budget. Bush really needs to step in and take some action. Me- Eating is crappy and need to get my act back together. A weekend sticking close to home and some meal planning should get me back together. TOM finally came after being pregnant and nursing for a combined year, so I felt fat and very bloated. :( Have a super weekend all! |
Wow! Chatty Cathy's here today :) ! And it started up so early, too! I've got a day of lab work ahead so I can go out to the field tomorrow and Monday. I plan to be back early enough on Monday to go to my friends house for a bbq in the afternoon.
I finally answered my bf's calls last night. His side of the story is that I put him on the defensive and didn't let him explain everything. I'm slightly skeptical since I'm a big believer in what comes out of your mouth is what is in your heart, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he is a good guy, really. I talked to a friend in the psych dept. here and he said that sometimes a persons first reaction to a bad situation is anger and to blame someone because they have feelings they don't know how to deal with. My bf was right smack in the epicenter of the big '94 Northridge earthquake and was without power, food, or water for about 4 days so maybe this disaster hit him in a way different than me. I'm more of a "OK, what can we do to help, and let's do it...now!!" type of person but I guess everyone is different. So, anyway!!! Today I plan to resume P1 after my little indescretions with sugar the other day. I'll stay on for another week and then prob move to P2. I don't like to go too long without fruit because it is so important for your health. I had the mock french toast made with eggbeaters and tofu this AM, lunch will be the portobello w/ cheese and tom sauce and a salad, and dinner will prob be the taco bake with veggies on the side. Too much? Too little? What do you chicks think?? My confidence is shaken after my slip up so I want to make sure I'm doing this right, even though I did lose a lot this time on P1. Have a great day, chicks! Enjoy the weekend! :) |
HKO: Fly lady is a systematic way to get ahold of your household chores and finances... www.flylady.com
I spent the morning in the jungle backyard pruning, weeding, clearing deadthings and grappling with the most invasive trailing ivy I've ever encountered.. DH is taking down tree-lets, and raking ... The poor yard has been so neglected DH is taking me to an eyetalian place for dinner tonight...the first time I will actually be dressed half way decent since we got here! Weezle: Way to go with DH... Our own Annette Funnicello and Frankie Avalon.. (HEEEEHEEEE, I am showing My age! Go look it up Wezzie or catch one of those Beach Blanket movies on AMC ) RNMOM: One of my favorites was a one legged man with a three legged cat.. He couldnt fit in his artifical limb because he gained so much weight, so he tried to hop down the stairs..fell and dislocated his shoulder.. We were taking him out on a backboard cuz he couldnt fit in the stair chair...and what walks by... yep a fat 3 legged cat..Professionalism at its best..but did we laugh after that..HE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EMS Gotta luv it! Way 2 go on your loss!!! Everybuddy else! HAPPY WEEKEND |
Hi Gals:)
I'm late posting again ,so I going to make this short Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend and try to stay beached:beach: Ellisworries :dancer: are over for now about my son, until he pull the same stunt :dunno: again. But I don't think hes going too,as he has a greater chance of advancement in this job then he did where he was before.. Mamamcita & the others who lost weight today:cheer: Big Congrats. I maintained, after losing 3 lbs from last week so I happy and here to next week. Hugs :) BB |
Boy! this group gets up early! It doesn't help that I'm on the west coast, but I've been staying in bed late, too. I'm taking a medication that makes me sleepy and I don't like that one bit. At least I'm getting plenty of sleep! :faint:
Everyone is so busy! That's great! Congratulations on the pounds lost. I am excited that my scale is going down already, even though I'm not 100% on phase I just yet -- and of course I shouldn't really be letting myself get on that *&$? scale. I'm 2 down, which I know is water, but I'll take anything right now. Hoping to get some good exercise in, too. http://www.lapbandfriends.com/phpBB2...on_elefant.gif It's cloudy and chill here, but it's a great day on the beach! |
Good Afternoon Ladies!
After 3 months of summer vacation from my job and I am ready to jump back into the water of South Beach. I unfortunatly have put back on about 10 pounds. I will set up my new ticker in a bit. My hubby and I will begin Phase 1 again soon. Nice to see some "old regulars" still on here. ;) Can't wait to talk to all the newer folks as well. Be Back soon Jamie |
Just a quick note, busy weekend! Hope you all have a great Labor day weekend!
Susi |
Back from The Island. We had a terrible thunderstorm and I thought I might be stuck there for the night. However, it stopped and we came down the lake in the dark! I have a tree down in my lane right where the car is usually parked!
Got a voice mail telling me that Lucy is at peak right now! As there is no way to get her to her boyfriend over this holiday weekend, we will not be having fall puppies. :( Just bad timing all round! Going to drink some water, read for a while and then turn in - Saturday night in Delta! |
Awww....sorry about the lack of puppies, Ruth. What kind of dogs do you breed? I've always thought that would be so fun since I love dogs.
Well...I'm happy to say that I am still on the beach. Phew! So many temptations today, but I am holding on just fine. :cloud9: |
I'm sorry Ruth - I know you were all set to make this happen. I doubt I'll ever breed dogs myself, but I've often thought that I'd like to show them in obedience trials or agility or some such. I'm keen on GSD's and similar breeds. Portuguese Water Dogs were originally bred to assist fishermen, is that right? Do you show yours, too?
|
Our trip to the Spring Festival was lovely.. it was a celebration of the diverse refugee communities in our city, with performances, food and crafts - very lovely indeed!!
Bought some plants as well to start the gardens off... cherry toms, beans, strawberries and yellow capsicum and bought a mushroom farm yesterday.. so we are in production!!! We are getting a home gym as well to help with some muscle strength... it should be a nice help with the weight loss as well. |
Mariana - I'm glad you had a fun time! I'm so jealous - I dearly want a mushroom farm or three myself (I'm like hobbits when it comes to mushrooms!) but I just really haven't a good place to keep them. Our house is old (nearly a century) and draughty, so there's no place I could put it where it could have the right combination of temperature, humidity, and darkness. No basement, either. The laundry room is the closest, but it gets pretty crisp in there, too, and it has a large east-facing window, and not a lot of space. Wah! Maybe our next house....
|
Good Morning :sunny: all you East Cost Morning larks, West Coast night owls and Acrossed the Pond to DownUnder!
Ruth: Ah a stroke of luck that you were out and about when that tree came down... but major BUMMER bout Lucy . :stress: .WAAAAA no leetle portugese water puppies... My 2 Cairns are spayed.. how I want another little puppy but DH would have my head... Chickita: Way to go.. :cp: One meal at a time !!! Marianna: We will get to live another spring and summer vicariously through you Aussies! HKO: I thought about obedience training myself..Don't want to go patting my own back, but my dogs are well trained.. I even broke my GFs rescue Doxie from constant inane barking. She was so exasperated she was gonna give him up.. I took him for 2 weeks and got him to understand "Enough"! Hmm SusieCue and Louise..WELCOME LADIES Pearsydew: your menu looks good to me.. heh heh, I saw your ChaChaCha on your signature.. Yes it's the only dance I know too! Me: It's still dark here ..I'm having my coffee and watching a beautiful ruby throated hummingbird have breakfast at the feeder....waiting for the sun to rise and get out to the front yard to weed, prune and deadhead..First I'll throw in a load of laundry and give the girls a bath..We were tooo tired and achy to go out to dinner last night.. We were out from 8:30ish till 2:30 working on the backyard..It's really shaping up...so just hamburgers on the Barbie and a salad for dinner.. I ordered the last 3 books from the Dark Tower Series...( I go to amazon and their affiliates and buy the used hard covers.. Got all 3 for $40.) all used library copies in excellent shape.. I can't help it..just don't like reading paperbacks..So, perhaps a nice epsom salt bath tonight.. and resume reading ! HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL! LATER TATERS! |
Good morning, Chicklets~~:coffee:
Still a bit bleary-eyed here this morning. Dh set the DVD player up with our new computer monitor (we're still waiting for the cables and stuff from SIL to set up computer) and I watched Phantom of the Opera and Sahara til the wee smalls. Had a nice, long hunky guy watching session :D For you Imeldas out there...I got two new pair of shoes yesterday. We're going on a cruise in January and I needed a black pair of dressy ones to wear in the dining room and a pair of slip ons to wear every day. Got both on sale. :cp: Went to the farmers market and stocked up on yummy things to eat. Zuchini, yellow squash, broccoli crowns, onions, sweet potatoes... and dh found these drinks...I hestiate to even mention...made in Korea..."madarin orange"...they taste like juice but the first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. 45 cans of this stuff!!! He thinks they're just the cat's whiskers! I'll stick to my unsweetened cranberry juice, thank you very much. Ruth, so sorry there won't be puppies this fall...maybe in the spring?? Glad that tree didn't fall on anything but the ground! :yikes: Schatzi, sounds like you had a satisfying day in the yard. Hard work but don't you love it when you can see the results of your work right away? Gonna plant bulbs? Heather and Marianna, I adore mushrooms! I wish I had a place to grow them...but all we seem to grow around here is mold! YUCK! But I did buy some portobello and some regular old white ones yesterday to add to my dried chantarelles. I'm making mushroom soup this week. Okay, gotta see if my buddies are online yet. I'll pop in and check on everyone in a bit. |
Heather, I remember in our old house (also a century house), finding a mushroom growing at the base of a kitchen wall. shudder. Why don't you try it. :lol3:
How's your head today, hon? :grouphug: Mamacita, good shoe shopping! :hat: I have a fair number of shoes, too, but I always forget they're there, and just stick to my Birks. :D They're so cozy. Marianna, sounds like you had a lovely time yesterday! :) Chickita, keep it up, girl! You're doing great!! Ruth, I'm sorry about the puppies. :( But I'm happy for Lucy. I can't think of anything worse than having about eight kids at once. Glad you got back safely from the island! Jamie, welcome back, hon! :hat: RNMom, four pounds!! You go, girl!! :cheer: (damnit, I'd better pull myself together) Schatzi, could you train my SIL's dogs, please? They are SO bad and yappy and UGLY!! (ugly is okay, but when it's combined with bad behaviours...) Isn't gardening addictive!? Sounds like you're well on your way with yours! I was working on mine yesterday... had a marvelous time! :sunny: Got your period, eh, Kiko? What a drag. I can't wait for it to stop permanently!! I hope the cleaning is going well... I'm getting a fair bit done, but I had a 2 1/2 hour nap yesterday. :yikes: If everyone would leave the house, I'd get a LOT more done! Actually, that's not true. I'd probably sit here on the computer... It's a lovely, sunny, and cool day! :) We had a huge rain yesterday (very nice... we needed it). I'm going to see if my laundry on the line has dried. Again. |
I love my friends! Art drove by early this morning and spotted the tree in my lane. He popped in to say he'll be over to take care of it later this morning! This means I'll "owe" him a very early full breakfast this week so I'd better buy a few potatoes for home fries. Art does have a wife who sleeps in most mornings. He is an early riser and comes into the Village to check some pump over at the Fairground. If my downstairs lights are on, he considers me ready for company!
It's gorgeous out there and Church isn't until 10:30. I must NOT get involved in anything outside this morning or I'll be skipping Church. :nono: It's too wet anyhow. After lunch, I'll drive to Perth with Hershey and do a duty visit to Harry. :( I hope he's in a better space than the last tiem. Enjoy your Sunday of the last long weekend of Summer, Chickies. :cofdate: |
morning chicks.... I got to sleep in till 9 this morning. YIPEE. DD and I had a great shopping day we were gone the whole day with meet my mom, dd likes it when nanny comes shopping with us. ;) Of course because she spoils her at times. Its funny my mom knows just when to do it. Not enough so that the girls think they will get something all the time. Grandma's a funny creatures. Anyhooo she got her a very nice brown jacket that ties with a ribbon, and a cell phone. Then I got her three pairs of jeans some underware and socks two belts and a purse so she is totally set for high school. I wish I was I am so nervous it is not funny. :blah: :blah: :blah: again. sorry. chicks.
I am not going to try to post to all either great to see us all posting so much. Everyone have a great day and stay OP. |
Terry let me sleep until 9:10! Woo hoo! Gotta get ready for church. Just thought I'd pop on and see how your mornings are going. Mine's been busy getting ready, but after church we're going to the store, then swimming at my MIL's house. WOO HOO!
Plus, weighed myself this morning and I'm 6 down from Tuesday when I started. I need to keep going, and maybe when TOM is over I'll drop a big load of pounds. Everyone have a good day. Hopefully I'll be around to pop in later. |
Goodmorning Beach Buddies,
It sounds busy and sunny out there. We have had the oddest summer, all cloudy and gloomy. I was gone until August and we should be having a lovely end of summer, but it is still cloudy. Ah well.. Went shopping for stretchy pants for riding my bike ....uh, does my butt look big in these :fr: I guess it is just baggy britches until I feel a wee bit more comfy. I didn't eat much in the a.m. and paid for it at night. I ate a whole box of sf fudgsicles and and ear of corn. :o Just a little sand in my shoes, I'll start out today with a good breakfast and keep up with those snacks. The nasty ol' scale still shows another pound down today, so the lower carb intake is doing its thing. It's really encouraging to hear how well you guys are doing. Have a great day. |
schatzi - Good job! Well done! My mom's best friend has 2 mini lonoghair doxies - they are little TERRORS! But sooo cute (think miniature Irish setters)! I mostly buy paperbacks (usually used) myself, because I like to read in bed, lying on my side, and a hardcover is a leetle awkward to read in that position. Plus I can fit a pb in my purse! I do sometimes get books in hc, though, if I especially like them. But then they are usually used or gifts - I hate paying hc prices!
Mamacita - there's nothing quite like the feeling of a getting a really good bargain on shoes, is there? Maybe because they are so darn expensive! What do you put in your mushroom soup? My two favorite ways to cook mushrooms are sauteed in olive oil with garlic and onions, and then braise a piece of lean beef (like top round) in the juices with the veggies until it's cooked to taste. Mmmm! And the other is mushroom stroganoff (with ff sour cream, of course). I haven't made this since going on the beach, but I think I'll try it with a little brown rice to soak up the extra sauce sometime soonish. Somewhere I have a recipe for a mushroom stew I want to try, too. Ellis - Eeeek (about the mushroom)! I guess the other thing would be worrying about contaminating the spore - I hadn't thought of wild fungi in the house! As far as I know (although I haven't cleaned the fridge in a while) there are no rogue fungi here.... My head still hurts. My mom (an RN) says it could take a while before it feels better. Church didn't help - the praise team includes a drummer! Oy, my aching skull! Ruth - What a pal! little chick - why are you nervous? Because your DD is starting HS? Or did I miss something somewhere? weezle - have a good swim! chickita - it's grey and cloudy here, too. We've started wearing long-sleeve shirts, long pj's at night, and even jackets sometimes. And it's soup and stew weather! Chicken - White Bean Chili for dinner last night, and I'm planning on some sort of southwesterny steak soup thing for dinner tonight to use up some leftover grilled sirloin steak. Hope you have a better day today! |
H-ko - I am nervous about dd starting high school. We live in a little community her elementary was a small school as was her middle school plus they were close by now she will be going into the city. I think I am having a hard time with the fact that she is growing up. Makes me a little sad. :( I am sure I will get over it. She is not nervous at all, excited to say the least. Well I must dash we have been invited to a corn boil at SIL house, so I must go get ready. I have been drinking lots of water today and would like to suck back a few more glasses so I don't over induldge. Have a great night chicks.
