Default Workout disaster!

So, I decided that since I had to go to the bank late today that I would go ahead and pick up DS from daycare and go straight to the gym. When I turned in he said, "I don't want to play." I thought, "Uh-oh, he is going to be a bear." But, he was fine when he realized that was exactly what we were going to do. He opened the door and in he ran ready to play. PHew!

So, I go to get my workout clothes on and have to go to the bathroom. (A whole other story due to overuse of the pinto beans I made. ) Anyways, as I am coming out one of the Kidcare employees meets me. She said that DS ran into another child and busted his lip. I went up to check on him and he was sniffling, but wanting to play more. As I was checking him out and making sure that he was okay. We realized that he had had a poopy accident. (DS is a breath holder. When he gets too upset, surprised or hurt he can lose his breath. And somehow neurologically his body does not kick in as soon as ours so he will turn blue and pass out. So, he didn't go completely out, but apparently lost control. He is just now potty trained.) So, I had to go back downstairs, get my keys, go to my car and get my bag. I didn't anticipate this problem, b/c I made him pee before I left him. He very seldom poops anywhere, but home. I joked with the staff that I was going to get my workout going up and down the stairs.

I did muster 30 minutes on the bike after that and some decent stretching. Talk about stressful!

Oh, and I came home and fixed the "Big Easy Shrimp" recipe with mashed cauliflower. YUM! I followed that with a philly swirl SF banana split flaver. Very good eating. I lost count, but think that I went over my water count today.

How scary! I hope your DS outgrows that - the holding-breath-until-blue thing, I mean. I'm glad he wasn't hurt worse, but I'm sorry he was hurt at all.

Wow, Dana, what an experience! I had a professor that always told us young teachers not to stress if we had a kid that threatened to hold their breath while having a temper tantrum. Eventually, their body would take over, they would faint, and then start breathing again. No worries. Of course, there *is* that whole 'falling over and hitting your head' thing...

Good for you on getting your exercise and water in. BTW, where did you get a banana split flavor??? I get my Philly Swirls at Sam's Club and there's not a banana split flavor there in SF. <drool> They are delicious!

Shortiemetoo-Thank you! I was quite proud of myself. In the past, I would have just said "the heck with it!" DS was fine he played the rest of the time and I had trouble getting him to leave when I was done.

H-Ko- Breath holding can be quite scary, but I have grown accustomed to seeing him turn blue. He has been outgrowing it the past year. At one time he would have up to 8 episodes in one day. Now it happens, maybe a couple times a month.

beachgal- I know it would be scary, especially if it is someone else's child. Brennan's body doesn't take over as fast as other childrens and his is usually not a temper tantrum. He starts out crying and just can't get the cry out. It is really sad to watch. You can see fear in his eyes. But, I am grateful that he is outgrowing it and according to the Docs he is suffering no ill effects from the episodes.

The Banana Split was in a package that I got at Food Lion. It says new flavor on the box. Perhaps Sams will have it in their next shipment. I hight recommend that flavor. I bought the philly swirls at Sam's first too. DS loves the cotton candy flavor.
