Oh, Ellis...that cold hit, huh? Lots of virtual chicken soup, hugs, and comfy blankets coming your way. Hope DH stays around to pamper you!
Phins, I'm so glad your family is supportive! When you get to Phase 2, look for Sweet Potato chips...I get them at my local Weis market. They are made by Tastee company...the same people who make apple chips. Very yummy and SBD safe. Good alternative for your kiddos!
Sassy, I guess I'm a rude girl, but I'd tell BF that if he really wants ice cream, he can go get a scoop or pint somewhere, but not to leave it in the house where you'll crave it. It's only fair. And maybe it'll be healthier for him, too.
Those sweet potato chips sound great! I made homemade sweet potato french fries this weekend. My husband and I didn't have a lot. I used one sweet potato cut up and fried. I know it is not something I should have a lot of, but it cured my craving for McDonald's fries.
I was really bad this weekend. I didn't eat anything off plan, but I just ate too much of what I could have. Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like a bottomless pit? No matter what you eat or how much, you can't get satisfied. That was me yesterday.
I am back on track today, though.
You know, that is what I like about the SBD. You can have a bad day and instead of beating yourself up about it, you just pick yourself up and move on.
This coming week is going to be busy...I have to go out of town this evening to faciliate a training with "sunnybunny" and we will be out until Wednesday. Then, we will get back to work on Thursday only to prepare for our Subawardee's Orientation on Friday. Then, my best friend's college graduation is Saturday at 10 and her friends and family are going out to lunch at a local restaurant. It will be hard since this restaurant makes wonderful rolls! I will do my best to resist!!! Then, I am visiting with my mom for mother's day and then have to make it back into downtown for another friend's play. She is playing Dorothy in the Wiz.
So, I hope you chicks have a great week if I don't get to talk to you more this week!
Welcome PHINSUP! I am sure it was crazy at your house this weekend! I can remember the days of getting ready for prom. I can't believe that it was almost 10 years ago!!!! I wish you the best! Check out the recipes on the recipe forum posts. There are some really awesome ones!
Yesterday I had a bridal shower to attend for my cousin...unfortunately there was not ONE THING that seemed very SB friendly to eat. The pickings were fried chicken, roast beef in gravy, mashed taters, mac and cheese, corn, and rolls...oh, and salad with dressing already on it. I HAD to eat something or else I would have been the center of attention, everyone bugging on why I'm not eating...could just hear it "You shouldn't STARRRRRVE yourself"...blah blah blah, . So, I had a thin slice of roast beef, about four bites of taters and a small helping of salad. But of course, when I refused the cake, bam, I got the questions anyways along with "don't you just want one bite??"...ugh. Why is it some people seem to want you to STAY fat??
So of course I was so disappointed that I went off plan...really shouldn't have ate any of those taters, but lord help me, they WERE Good, totally blew it yesterday though, even ate too many nuts. Oh well, just telling myself today is a new day and back on plan I go!
Well, I'm officially back! I am so sick and tired of eating all the crap I've been eating for the past month!!!! Unfortunately, my kitchen is still torn apart because the cabinets are a week late going in. They will be installed tomorrow and Wednesday and lemme tell ya...I can't wait! It'll be nice to have a kitchen back again (although I still have to wait for the countertops to go in). Then I will stop using that as an excuse as to why I can't eat OP!
Another reason I am completely back OP is because my mom and I decided we need to take off for Hawaii next month. I have one month til I have to be back in a bathingsuit so here I go again......
PhinsUp-You've gotta be a parrothead with that user name! I'm the social/entertainment liaison for the Santa Barbara Parrot Head Club! We just had an awesome Buffett week the beginning of April with 2 concerts and Phins to the West in Laughlin! It was awesome!
To the rest of you-I hope you have a great day! I will have a very limited amount of time this month to post because I am more swamped than I was last month! I'll get in as much as I can! It's great to be back!
twiceblessedmom,
I know what you mean. Every conference, party, get together...anything..I get the same questions. It is almost like others want you to be miserable or something. Then, there is always the comment, "Well, I eat what I want, because I'd rather die happy than diet all my life." I go off plan every now and then, but when I am trying to be "good", I really don't need people to encourage me to go off plan...I already do that pretty well myself.
Keep up the good work. Just remember, when you are "good" and others eat lots of carbs, you will be awake for the afternoon while they will be wanting to take a nap. Being alert in the afternoon is one of the big bonuses from SBD that I love!
Kissyjoy...that's awesome!!! you bet I'm a Parrot Head, I'm a little bummed tho'...he hasn't been near here in 2 years!!! He was in Nashville 2 yrs ago, and we went, it was awesome(my first JB concert) I'm not a member of the Parrot Head Club, but I am a huge (pardon the pun) fan of Buffett!! One of his band members is a local boy! My hubby used to play basket ball with him at the rec.center...Mac McAnally.
It's always nice to run into another ParrotHead!
remember keep your Fins UP!!!
I posted in another thread thinking it was the daily. Must be a blond Monday. Anyhow - DS's first communion went great - he looked so handsome. I was bad with the diet - barbeque, potato salad, chips & dip but good with the mouth - no fighting.
Ellis - I feel for ya. I was there last week Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed. Take care! DB and DSIL both gathered about 50 morels each on Saturday. Yum!
Bami - When is the surgery? Hope you do well! How's your mom?
Everyone else - Hi
My goal today is to make my butt work out! I've been putting it off and putting it off and that has to stop. The only way this fat butt loses weight is to get moving. I'm trying to stay motivated. It is when I get home that i fall apart. Wish me luck!
My scope on my knee is on Thursday. I was so tired and my back was hurting so I opted for a nap..that turned into a full fledge sleep comma! I slept til 12:30! Aunt Flo has arrived like a whirlwind! I don't know if I will go anywhere or not the way I feel right now. I will probably go to the bank (so I don't have to listen to DH) after DD gets home and take her with me. After all she is the one goin to Australia! lol
Anchor...Mom is still not doin real good! She goes back to the doc again today. I am hopin they tell her something today!
PHinsUP...Welcome to the sand. Where in Bama are you? I'm in Huntsville. Oh your poor DS....3 older sisters! lol
kissjoy...Glad to see ya back in it! lol Hawaii...My dream vacation! lol
Well I need to grab me some breakfast or lunch! lol Not real sure which it will be yet. Have a great day all!
Just got back from a Women's Ministries Conference in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. All in all I did pretty well.
The meals I ate out were very OP. My problems - make that "challenges" -arose in the multiple buffet meals we ate.
Breakfasts were pretty S. Beach friendly - especially since I'm still on Phase 1. I loaded up with scrambled eggs and had some sausage. Passed on the juices and breads, bagels, cereals, etc. And had some coffee. I had also brought some V-8 juice with me which I had as my breakfast beverage (other lo-carb people were coming up to me and asking where they could get the V-8 too....)
Unfortunately the lunch and dinner buffets (there were about 300 people there and cost was an issue) were pretty starch heavy - you know, potato salad, mac salad, etc,. I stayed away from those and concentrated on some fish and chicken and beef - and lots of salads. I also kept my hotel mini fridge stocked with the V-8, part skim string cheeses, celery, and flavored waters. Was I perfect? Of course not! Was I careful - absolutely.
I had considered putting off starting last week because I knew the conference was coming up - but then I realized that THIS week was my birthday and NEXT week is senior week and graduation week at the college where I work (lots of dinners and receptions) and the FOLLOWING week is our 20th wedding anniversary. If I waited until there were no temptations in my work or social life, I would NEVER start. I am so glad I made that decision.
I haven't weighed in for my first week in Phase One. Mostly because I haven't been home since last Thursday and I want to use the same scale all the time. But I do know that I feel good and the withdrawal headaches are gone.
Bamiegirl
I live in Sheffield, about 50-60 miles west of Huntsville, AKA The Shoals area
Yep, my poor DS!!! I thought my oldest dtr was gonna kill him when she first hit puberty!!!! I live in Hormone City right now!!!
My DS & DH, have stayed at the baseball field!! DS plays DH coaches, for our high school team. I don't know what they're gonna do now that the season is over!!!!
I have heard of the Shoals area. I have never been there. We have only lived here for 3 years and so far I have not had a reason to head over that way. I have been to Decatur which I think is headed in that direction. Glad to have a chickie close by! I could not imagine 3 girls. I don't know how my Mom did it. There was 5 girls and 2 boys! Just havin one of each at times seems to be a lil more than I can handle. Thank goodness they seem to act crazy (lol) at different times! lol
Yup, Decatur is on the way here, just keep going down Hwy 72 for about 45-50 minutes.
I grew up in a large family, but it was 4 boys, 2 girls and my sister and I are 7 yrs apart, so it was a lot different!
