Default Eating less, less cravings, etc...

I've never been a picky eater although I've always known what I liked. Something that has been happening to me this week, and I was blaming it on TOM, is that I really don't feel like eating. (*GASP* *SHOCK* *OHMYGOD*)
Seriously though, i had a period of a few months when I was in college (and coincidentally around the same weight I am now) that I didn't feel hungry for a good 3 months and I didn't eat during that time. I remember I enjoyed it quite well that I didn't want to eat, so I didn't and I ended up losing 20 lbs. What ruined it for me then was going home for summer, at which point my mom wasn't having my not eating, so I ate and my body learned to be hungry.

This is different though, I am still eating, but not as much and my tastes are certainly being geared towards certain types of things. I can kind of force myself to eat my veggies, my meats, some grains(like oatmeal) and my dairy, all in smaller portions. The stuff that I normally kind of force myself to eat because they are healthy but not necessarily my favorite (like fish, certain veggies and plain cottage cheese), I can't touch. I'm not sure what is going on and maybe I should be thankful instead of confused

Anyway, I was reading an interesting post in the WW Core forum basically about how they have noticed that they are eating less. Now I don't think it is related to my current problem since I've been on SB for a few months but in general, getting control of your food instead of your food controlling you is a good thing.

Nelie I am like that alot. I know it sounds odd to be overweight and have to make yourself eat. I have never had good eating habits and still do not. I hardly ever eat breakfast cause it is just to early. I am not usually hungry til about noonish. When I first started SBD I made myself eat the 3 meals aday but now I find it hard to do. Alot of times I just cannot make myself eat. But the difference now is when I do eat it is healthier choices than before. Good thread, thanks!

Nelie, I see what you mean, and I agree that it's better to control food rather than letting it control you, but I also think that this is a fine line...cross over on to the controlling side and you are heading for anorexia, you know? I'm NOT saying that you are anorexic!!! I'm just saying that we have to ensure that we are eating healthily. Use this time to your advantage by avoiding cheats and foods that you would normally be tempted by, but force yourself to eat the normal amount of calories (at least 1200) and a healthy mix of protein, veggies, good fats, good grains, dairy, and beans. If you don't feel like eating some of the veggies, don't. Just make sure you are still eating the nutrients in other things or taking vitamins.

I'm glad you are so successful, Nelie! And I hope that you can use this time to continue your success without hurting your health. You know?

Laurie If I was a different person than I am now, then I would probably not eat at all or eat the very minimum of calories. Of course the person I am now, understands that food is used to fuel our bodies and also let our bodies know that we aren't starving so no need to save the fat that surrounds us. I eat 5-6 times a day, not necessarily because I am hungry, but because I know I need to. Also my latest discovery of cottage cheese protein shakes has helped me get in some calories in a way that is delicious and nutritious and doesn't really involve eating. That is actually good for me at the moment because it appears i have some kind of virus/flu/something going on with me and a sore throat so drinking my food is quite easy until I get better.

As always, Nelie, you are the voice of reason!

You are exactly right.

I hope your throat feels better soon! I make smoothies with yogurt and frozen berries (no sugar). I throw in protein powder, a little milk and SF syrup, and some ground flax seed. It's yummy, and very cold! A smoothie book I once had said that if you freeze the fruit, there's no need to add ice cubes, so it doesn't get watered down. Smart!

Feel better, girl!
