Default Tgif!!!! 10/15

Morning chicks!

Imagine that I am back at school and not having much time to post! I have been slepping until the last possible moment and not wanting to get out of bed in the morning. With good reason though, because I am PREGNANT!!!!! We are so excited, just "peed on the stick" yesterday, so I will be calling to get an appointment set up with with OBGyn today. I plan to do a much modified Phase 2, meaning that I will add more WW startches and fruit. I gained 42 pounds last time, and do not plan on that happening again!!

Ruth- Sorry to hear about the puppy. I hope that last night went well for him/her.

Barb I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. I am the type of person that would be very bitter!! Has your DH considering just any type of job, just for the sanity of getting out of the house. I hope you enhoy the Race for the Cure tomorrow. I am so pumped for you that you are moving into the 150s. That has been my elusive goal for the past few months!

I will post more over the weekend when I have time to breathe and can catch up on posts. Just wanted to share our happy news!!!!

Good morning, Chicks~~

Brrrr!! It's a little cold out there this morning. Thermometer says 46* but with the wind chill, it's down around 40*.

Kiko, Congratulations!!!

Ruth, I read about the puppy last night. Hope he did well overnight. Keep us posted.

I have a doc appointment today for my flu shot. Since I'm asthmatic and a healthcare worker who has lots of immune-suppressed patients, I get to skip to the front of the line. I'd feel just awful if I got sick and passed it on to one of my patients.

Had to run out for a STAT draw last night and BIL made dinner while I was gone. He made lasagna. I had just a small serving but there had to have been a heckuva lot of sodium in it. I'm UP 3 POUNDS this morning!

Well, gotta get my shower. I'll pop back on to see if anyone else has arrived.

If I miss you, have a great day on the Beach!

In ten minutes, I'm out the door for a big two-day Church conference.

Kiko, congratulations! I'm excited for you.

Mamacita, thanks for the flu shot reminder. Because I go to nursing homes and hospitals, I get priority too - plus I have asthma roo!

Baby puppy is still with us. When I get home tonight I'll check again with Morna who will be nursing him all day as well as teaching music.

Gotta dash. Hugs to all.

Ruth, glad the puppy made it through the night. Continued prayers and good thoughts for his recovery. Have fun at your conference.

Karen, I'm so happy for you, sweetie!! Take good care of yourself.

Mamacita, we all went for flu shots last year, and the city later discovered that they'd given everyone the wrong one.

Ruth, I'm so glad the baby is okay... I do hope he hangs in there. Enjoy the conference!

I'm taking Mom out for breakfast this morning. I've seen her four times this week. Is this normal? I don't think so. I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. She wanted to see me tomorrow morning, too, but I put my foot down. (sorry, don't mean to complain...)

Have a wonderful day, girls! Love to all...

Hi Everybody,

First of all, thanks for all the encouragement yesterday. You all really helped me get out of my blue funk. The scale has cooperated with a slight drop today - I'm probably half a pound above my signature weight now.

Karen, congratulations! What wonderful news! Keep healthy for the wee one.

Ruth, sorry about the plight of the puppy. I hope he/she holds on and recovers. Morna sounds like an angel.

Mamacita, you're probably right about the sodium. I find the cheese in lasagne always bungs me up as well. Hopefully you'll be able to wrench the apron and wooden spoon away from BIL tonight loL!

Well, I'm off to meet a former boss about a new job. I retrained as a technical writer over a year ago but have found it hard to break into the field on a part time basis (which is necessary because of school issues with my ds). I may have found a project that uses my human resource background along with the new tech writing skills. I'll get the details today, but looks like editing and rewriting some policy documentation.

Great days everybody, and thanks again for helping me out yesterday.

Ellis,

Missed your post while posting mine.

It could take your mom some time to come up with a circle of friends and new relationships and activities after the loss of your dad. My own mom took a while too, but ended up with a wonderful group while doing Tai Chi and now has a great social life. She had many friends with my dad, but in that situation they were more his friends than hers, as his was the dominant personality, so it did take some time to make new relationships.

Hang in there!

Default Hi ladies!

Yep TGIF!!! I'm on my 3rd day of work and this 0500 stuff is gonna send me over the edge. By the time I get home at night I'm wiped out. Yesterday was sooooooo stressful! All I could think about was sugar and cookies and candy bars. I hate being at work when I'm like that. Anyway I survived but I was cranky! I'm wearing my witch uniform today because this is how I felt! Anyway I didn't give in to temptation....whew Another day to fight and hopefully I'll be over the worst......this is day 5 of phase 1....again.

Mamacita, I'm a healthcare worker and I don't get a flu shot this year. Only the nurses over 50 get them...I'm not in that category. Oh, well, wash my hands even more!

Ruth, glad the baby is ok! Hope it continues a good recovery.

Kiko, congrats on being preggo!!!!

Heidi, congrats on the scales dropping....you gotta love that!

Ellis, you sound like a good daughter.... I couldn't have lunch with my mom that often, just an afternoon with my parents sends me over the edge. I don't remember them fighting like they do now.

Well, you all have a great day! Remember to drink water and wear your seatbelts.

Karen, I am SO happy for you and your family!!! :db: Do know that you are required to post any and all ultrasound pics! Take gentle care of yourself and your little-one-to-be!

Mamacita, don't you hate those mornings? I'm sure it'll pop back down with a lot of water!

Ruth! Oh, baby puppy! So glad he's alright. Why do I have this image of Morna nursing a puppy while playing the piano with one hand? Or conducting with a puppy bottle? Is your church conference at your own church or at an area church? Hope it's wonderful!

Ellis, you deserve a break! Can you get Mom hooked on Bridge or something? is there a Red Hat Society nearby she could join? Something to keep her out of your hair? A Stitch and ***** club sounds right up her alley... I hope you get some time to yourself with a book and some yummy peppers and hummus (in lieu of the dreaded b****e mix! )

Heidi, that job sounds great! Good luck and keep us posted!

Me:

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while...things are nutty-crazy here and every time I check, the daily is up to 18 or 19 people and I just can't face all that typing!

Ange and baby are doing great. Ethan (the baby) is off the ventilator (HALLELUJAH!!!) and sucking his thumb! That is a huge weight off my mind, though I know they will both need lots of continued prayers. I'm looking forward to seeing him healthy and darling at Christmas!

Work is, as always, crazy. I'm also trying to plan out our Europe trip...we just got a hotel for England, DH is working on flights and trains from England to Germany and Germany to Amsterdam, and a hotel in Germany, and I'm currently working on a hotel in Amsterdam. Craziness!

I am so glad it is the weekend...I have tons of homework and other work to do, and I really need some time to just sleep! DH must know that because he has woken me up too late to go to the gym all week! He wakes up about an hour before I need to get up for the gym, and we use one alarm, so it's his job to wake me up...but he keeps doing it too late. Not sure why! I actually cursed at him this morning (mildly) and I think he got the message. Hopefully on Monday I can get back on track!

The weight is still coming off. I'm stressing out about what I can eat in Europe except full fat cheese and unpasteurized yogurt... And I know I'm probably still losing too fast, especially since I haven't been in the gym in two weeks! I have a meeting with a nutritionist (not the evil one) in a week. We'll see what she has to say.

Have a wonderful weekend, chickies! :

RNMom, we posted at the same time! GOOD FOR YOU!!! I had those same cravings last night (thought I had wild rice at the cafeteria, but it must have had some regular rice in it...grrrrr). Feel your pain and think you are FABULOUS for getting back on the wagon. You have a license to be as witchy as you want!

Good morning! Happy Friday!!

Kiko -- CONGRATS!!!! That's SOOOO exciting! Do you know what your due date is??

Speaking of pregnancies, I am going to Kansas City this afternoon for genetic counseling and testing. Because DH and I are Jewish, there is a set of common Jewish genetic diseases we need to be tested for before getting preganant. Of course, we are still not planning on TTC for several months, but this is one of the first steps for us.

I am soo sorry I don't have time for all of the personals again. I've got to fit an entire's day work into half a day since I am headed to KC. I have a wedding tomorrow night, and I'll be back on Sunday. Then, off to Tulsa for biz on Tue., be back Wed. But, I will pop in, promise!

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!

Lauren, best of luck! What tests do you need, if I might ask? I'm of Jewish descent and never realized that put me at risk for anything in particular.

Karen - Congratulations! I am so very happy for you! You have all my wishes for a healthy pregnancy with no morning sickness. I gained 31 pounds with Brian and was 195 to start so that was actually my highest weight but I don't count that. I am really looking forward to the walkathon tomorrow. It should be a lot of fun. DH says he has looked at other types of jobs but I don't think he has looked seriously. The job market is still so bad in DFW but there has to be something he can do. If he would get serious about losing weight, I think it would improve his chances of getting a job. I think companies are afraid to hire him. He is around 300 pounds and only 5' 4".

Mama - that is great that you can get a flu shot. I feel so bed for the elderly people being turned away. Hardly anyone has any vaccine here even for those at high risk.

Ruth - your puppy has my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Ellis - It does sound like your mom is lonely. Sometimes I miss my mom so much. I really wish she could have lived to see Brian.

Heidi - I'm glad you are feeling better about the program. Good luck with the job.

RNMOM - good luck fighting temptation! Phase 1 can be hard.

Laurie - Don't feel you have to respond to everyone. Most days I can't so I respond however I am able to. How long is your trip? Maybe you should just relax and enjoy yourself and just do your best to stay OP. Sometimes I worry about losing too fast too. I can lose 3 pounds in a week but then I usually only lose a pound the next or stay steady. I'm not worrying about it as long as I keep averaging in the 1-2 pound range.

Lauren - Good luck with the genetic testing! Hopefully they won't find anything but I know I would want to know.

Me - I am ready for the weekend. My team lead has been on vacation all week and it has been so busy filling in for him and doing my work too. Time to go to a meeting. I'll be back later.

Happy Friday!!!

Karen - You are up early this morning and for great reason. Congratulations. We get more babies in our group. WTG. Be sure to take good care of yourself and baby...sounds like you are already making a great start. WOOHOO!!!!

Mama - Now is the season to be getting chilly, alright. It was -3 this morning when I checked, so it is just a matter of time before the snow flies and we will be buried in it. Will need to get the winter coat out this weekend. So glad, also, that you have come to a resolution with the problems at work. It often makes me wonder that employer's expect their staff to perform work that is physically impossible to do...

Ruth - I was anxious to hear about puppy. So glad that he is OK for now. Hoping that he has a good day today. Be sure to keep us posted. Have a great day.

Ellis - You have the patience of a saint. I don't think that I could spend that much time with my mother. We are like oil and water...however, she is the one to usually speak her mind. If I contradict or disagree with anything she says, or wants, she quits speaking to me...for 2 or 3 years. Hmmmmm, that's a thought.

Heidi - Good luck with the job. Hope that it works out for you. If you were here, I know of several jobs in your field for which they can find 'ees. DH is trying to hire several right now and can't get people with very good qualifications.

RNMOM - WTG...survived the temptations and stayed OP. I know how hard that is, but you know, in the long run, it is worth it. Keep you eye on the goal...you can do it.

Laurie - Sounds like your life is ultra hectic now. Work, school, gym... I laugh at your referral to the alarm clock. I have never owned an alarm clock, until last Friday. Now, I set the alarm, and wait to watch it change time and ring. DH thinks this is a bit odd, but, what the hey. Today is Open House at the college...all the little nosepickers are around and causing chaos. I am debating whether I should go to the track at noon if it is busy with people. Have a good day and take some time for yourself this weekend.

Lauren - Good luck on the tests. I didn't know that there were genetic diseases until I was reading an article a few months ago. Soooo much to consider even before becoming a parent. Hope everything turns out well.

Barb - Have a rest this weekend. You are having such a difficult time and too busy besides. I can remember when DH and I were first married...he was in school half days while I worked. He would come home at lunch with a bunch of friends, make a mess, then go play pool for the afternoon. He was from a family where his mom doted on the boys and did everything for them. He expected that I should be the same. Of course, I resented that whole thing. As a compromise, we agreed that he would look after the apartment and I would be the bread winner. I am glad now that it worked that way, because he doesn't hesitate to pitch in with work around the house now...it may have been very different and something that I would not be able to handle. Hope everything works out for you. Take care.

Me - Not much to say today. It has been a busy week at work and I haven't been sleeping very well...one night I got an hour's sleep and the others haven't been much better. I have never been a long sleeper at night, but this is actually causing me to be tired everyday. Oh well, the weekend is here and I may have some time to kick back and get some day rest.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Remember to stay OP...it's for your own health.

Good morning all! A quick pop in. The kids and I are off to the mall today. FUN FUN! Oh how I dread it! DS needs some new clothes and DD is still spending her birthday dough. Neither one are a joy to shop with. I'm hey let's go to T.J. Maxx where you get brand names for less and they are no I want it from the mall! Ugh! Does not understand you can get a lot more at the Maxx. DS wants all American Eagle and at 30 bucks a shirt he's crazy! haha DD wants to shop at Pac Sun where a very very thin t-shirt is 20 bucks. But that's where everybody at school shops! Hello maybe both of their parents work and they can do that. DS would rather me go to work so he can have more than to be a SAHM. Teenagers! I know why some animals eat their young! hahaha Oh enough of my drama to be today! Hopefully after all of this it will be smooth sailing! teehee Lunch will be out I am sure probably grab a salad at the mall to stay OP.

Kiko... Congrats on your new addition! One of my HI customers is due in Jan. and I told her anytime you need a sitter during the day just call me! teehee I love lil babies.

Have a great day all! And a great weekend to those of you who will not be around!
