Default Hot dog?

Ok - quick question... I looked in the book but didn't seen information on having a hot dog.

I made all-beef hot dogs for the kids for dinner with mac and cheese, and I just had a salad myself, but haven't made it to the store to purchase meat and chicken yet. Can I have one of those hot dogs tonight or are they a "no-no". This is day one of phase I for me - don't want to screw it up!

Thanks!

Bamie is right! They're full of nasty things. How about some tuna until you pick up meat?

Eek! I had one but now I know for future reference.
Oo - wish I had tuna in the house but I don't - I can't wait to go shopping tomorrow. It is amazing how far things fall behind when the one who does most of the household duties gets laid up.

What about Hebrew Nationals hotdogs? They are supposed to be all beef and no fillers. I have eaten them at picnics, only 1-occasionally in phase 2.

Their beef franks have 150 calories, 14g fat, 6 g saturated fat. Yuck, but once in awhile.

They also have 97% fat free beef franks, which have 1.5 g fat, .5 g sat. fat, and 45 calories. but the 3rd ingredient is modified corn starch....again, imho, once-once in awhile is ok. Just not everyday, and maybe not even every week.

But she is on Phase One - no way she should eat those.

Page 91 and 93 of GFGC talks about hot dogs. Fat Free Beef are listed as very limited. Tofu Pup frozen hot dog is listed as good. All other types of hot dogs are listed as avoid. I have done okay having one fat free beef hot dog once in long while on Phase 2. I had several on Labor Day and really gained. I would definitely avoid them during phase 1.

Yup, the only hot dogs in Phase 1 are Tofu hot dogs.

Tx, why don't you get your shopping done, and then restart Phase 1? You'll see much better results if you do the whole thing with no cheats (and I know you didn't mean to cheat, but the result in your body is the same). Get prepared, get all the food you need, make plans to go to the store before you run out of food, and then do it!

Dare I say frankenfood! We are supposed to be avoiding highly processed foods and frankfurters are certainly that! Also they are not made with filet or tenderloin. Think about it.

LOL...I think being a Great Grand B*tch has given Ruth a new lease on life.

I know that the Hebrew national dogs are not full of fillers, but they aren't lean meat either...so. (sad, because they are tas-tee! ) We are allowed to have Beef, fat-free hotdogs on a Very Limited basis. But as you said...they have sugar.

Anybody know anything about Morningstar Veggie Dogs? Taste just like a hot dog, very tasty, I have a ton in my freezer but haven't had any since SBD. I know we can have Morningstar Bacon, and Boca Brats and stuff, but didn't know about the veggie dogs.

Veggie dogs are OK. I get Yves Chili Dogs and have them on a 100% whole wheat bun once in a while. Yummy with sauerkraut!
