I think that regular zinfandel would be a red wine, as "white" zinfandel is light--figure the name gives away that it is regularly red. You might find more information at a liquor store or wine boutique.
I have the guide - just wasn't sure where the Zinfandel fit in, or if allowed at all. Didn't see it mentioned in the guide. My birthday is coming up and i might want to celebrate!
Gee, beachgal, I don't know much about this but I understand that there can be both red and white made from the Zinfandel grape which is an American Heritage Grape. In either case, it's darn good wine whether red, blush or white!
Go ahead and celebrate, kag.
Ok so allthis talk about wine is making me thirsty!!!! So has anyone tried one of those new LOW CARB wine I believe they are called 1.0 and 1.6 or something to that effect? Just wanted to know. We just got a contract on our house and may want to celebrate when we sell it!!!
Ack! SKHerb, you can have a wine with 1,000,000 carbs in it, as long as it is dry and red. I'm not mad at you, sweetheart...I just get frustrated because we don't need to count carbs.
Ruth, that's what I meant...I just didn't make it sound right like you did. I think the blush is white wine with the skins added for a slight time. The skins give it a red tinge. What I was saying was that the use of the word "white" in front of the grape made me assume that if there was a white (no skins on the grapes), there was probably a red (skins left on). My brain hurts!
A great dry red is Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon would also be a dry red, I believe. There is a way to tell the amount of sugar in wine with a number...not all wines say the number on the bottle, but I believe you can look them up online...I'm off to check. No luck...couldn't find it. I'm sure if I searched around longer, I would. But many bottles do say whether they are dry or not.
Lambrusco is my favorite wine....I wonder if it'll be ok to have it in Ph2? It's red....just not as red as merlot. On google searches, it's described as "off-dry" and "medium body" but definitely a "red wine." I'll just be so excited if I can have it!!!!
Bacardi Rum has no sugars, so my friends drink Bacardi and diet coke usually (they are on Phases II and III). So, plain Bacardi is pretty good for a choice, I suppose.
Drinking, like anything else in the diet, is fine, in *moderation*. Also, like everything else on the diet, it depends on how your body responds to it. After a night of drinking (heavy on the alcohol but low to nil on mixers) I might weight 2lbs less, while my wife may weight two pounds more.
I'm of the mindset that it isn't the alcohol that gets you, it's what you mix with it, or what you EAT because of it.
So, my advice is to put some white rum in your Mojito and ENJOY!
Just make sure to have a *FILLING* Phase 1/2 meal beforehand.
P.S. - Don't forget that this diet is about FLEXIBILITY if you can't indulge every once in a while and celebrate your success....what good is it? Just be sure to stay on track though!
I've had good luck so far with wines and clear alcohols. I've done a really good job of avoiding snacking during drinking as well. Or if I do, I try to snack on something that will slow digestion (nuts, but not too many).
Bacardi with Diet Coke w/Lime is great.
Also, try Bacardi Limon with Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper. It sounds WEIRD, but actually tastes like Bazooka gum. (I discovered it with Limon and regular Dr. Pepper pre-diet - luckily Diet Dr. Pepper is one of the better tasting diet drinks).
