Talking Weekend Chat 3/6

Good morning ladies - it's just barely the weekend, but thought that I woudl start the thread. I haven't been on much lately it's all 2BFIT's fault - she found this kitchen site and now I should probably be going to Kitchen's anonymous.

We ordered our kitchen cabinets from Ikea and we're hoping to get almost everything settled before they arrive. If you're at Ikea you can visit our kitchen it's the Kalsebo Beech toned wood.

Ruth we boarded our dog and she came home with what looked like a broken tail. Apparently she wagged it too much and strained the muscle - it's just now getting back to normal.

As far as SBD goes I'm just trying to maintain, we're eating out tons which I hate because I have no control. My DH broke the blender caraffe so no more whey protein shakes until we get a new one.

My new Dual Fuel, Downdraft, Stainless Steel Convection oven arrived! Just think of all the yummy things I could make with that!!!!

Pebbles, too funny about your dog! The do wag hard, don't they?

I tried to sleep in this morning but it was not to be. Am feeling a bit punky - I think it's allergies - so am going to get a coffee and some antihistamine and come back shortly.

well, I have finished lunch and am off to a childrens' party this afternoon, for a one year old. Could do without it to be honest......but I have made jellies and bought a pressie so off I go for a couple of hours. Tonight out to supper with some friends. Tomorrow visting mum and dad. What a busy life I lead. I was going to get some broad beans in this morning, and sow the parsnips too, but it was raining and it has been frosty this week so i will wait for the soil to warm up and dry out a bit. Maybe do it on Wednesday or Thursday.

By the way, I am totally over Alan.

Back! Clovey, we should exchange emails so we can talk gardening without boring the knickers off the rest of the chickage! I love broad beans but we don't have a long enough spring to grow them well here.

I may be joining Kitchens Anonymous with Pebbles. I have a guy coming to give me an estimate for new windows and am thinking new cabinets which are really not necessary! I have real wood ones (pine) that have really darkened with age. After the windows are in, Claire and I are going to paint them a lighter colour to brighten up my kitchen. The guys are freaking about painting real wood but we just told them to get over it! I need to change the wallpaper too but it won't be a horrorshow like the bathroom was as I know what's underneath. The paper was put up in 1994 so it's past time!

Lucy is still not in heat although she should have been shocked into it this morning. As is her wont, she put her head and forepaws on my lap when I was drinking coffee and spilled it all over herself, me and the kitchen floor. Then she did the "I'm sorry" tail wag and spattered even more.

A lot of the snow has melted and the spring flood is starting behind the barn and in the dog yard. There is a lake out there! It will drain away as soon as the culvert opens up – another shovel job! I swear all the melt from the escarpment flows through our yard. It even has a current. There was a creek on the edge of our property a hundred years ago and the water remembers. This usually happens at the end of March so spring melt is early. Now I just need to spot geese and I’ll know spring is arriving. Snowdrops....flood....geese....crocus.....daffies. .....tulips! That's the universe unfolding in spring around here. We also have lots of mud but I'm trying to ignore that.

Today we will work in a Library trip in the morning and maybe lunch at the club. It’s supposed to be rain or snow so no outdoor puttering although I could start the barn cleanup! Maybe I’ll just goof off with my book and ginger tea and talk to Lucy about coming into heat! Maybe spilling tea on her will do it.

Have a super weekend, chickies.

Ruth, you could always "pickle" your doors. We did that when we sanded down our kitchen floor. I liked the colour of the bare wood, but even a clear finish would have yellowed it, so I watered down some flat white paint, rubbed it into the grain of the wood, and then applied a clear finish on top. The wood is lovely and light, and the grain still shows.
Or you could do what I did... took all the doors off. I love open cabinets. It forces me to be tidy.

Pebbles, your kitchen is going to be BEAUTIFUL!! And your oven... I'm jealous! (I can't cook, but I can still drool over an oven)

Clovey, I hope that party isn't too stressful.

The weather forecast has changed... it's not going to snow after all!!

Welcome, Mamacita. This is a cool and friendly place.

Food cravings? How long on SBD? They ususally go away in a week or so as your body detoxes.

I've been on SBD since just after Christmas...my trouble is that I tend to slip occasionally and I know you can't truly detox if you keep having little bits of bad stuff in your system...very frustrating.

Hi, Mamacita!!!
Welcome!

Hey, everyone! It's a very cool, and dreary day. Looks suspiciously like rain, but I don't care. I will not allow this to poorly influence my outlook on the weekend! Actually, I'm trying to be upbeat for my weekend is shaping up similar to Clovey's. It goes like this.....Pick up GD (who is going through those pre-teen symdroms) and take her to lunch and a movie. We probably won't be able to agree on anything (yes, I do love her dearly) so I will just have to grin and take it all in stride! Tomorrow, we will go to church, and then meet the family for a lunch out. Does my weekend sound exciting????

Ellis....I love your idea about "pickling" Ruth's cabinets. Sounds just beautiful! Ruth, Let her take over your kitchen!

Pebbles.....I'm so sorry about your poor little doggie's tail. It sounds absolutely painful!

Everyone have a great day. I will check back in later with choice remarks!
Hugs,
Sharon

Morning everyone!

I plan on taking it easy this weekend! I signed up for a kickboxing class at the Y and made it through the first one Thursday, barely! Great workout though but still feeling it in my hamstrings.

My husband and I went to see The Passion last night w/ some friends from church, what an experience.

Just over a week ago, we had snow and yesterday the high was almost 80! Go figure. I'm definitely ready for Spring.

I did get a dress for my sister's wedding! Strapless no less!!! I have never worn such a thing in my life! It's lilac and very pretty though. I'm a redhead and have never worn anything purple but I love it!

Has anyone used the Nivea skin firming lotion w/ Q10? I started using it about 2 weeks ago and I swear I can tell some difference in my arms! Oh well, whether its actually firming or not I need to moisturize anyways.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend full of OP meals!

Default Good Weekend everybody!

Hey Pebbles what is this kitchen site and what's so great about it.?

Welcome Marmacita

I am gonna have to buy some of this lotion, Gavinsmom. I have been looking for it, but haven't been able to find it. Must look harder.

Hey, does anybody know, do stretch marks get worse or better as you lose weight, and is there anything we can do (stretch mark dances) or take (a supplement) to help our skins elasticity (other then the lotion which I am gonna find!)?

Enjoy your weekend everybody I am gonna go out and rake the rest of my stupid leaves today, weather permitting.

I bought the Nivea at Wal-Mart. This is a 12 oz pump bottle and I found it on the same shelf w/ the other Nivea lotion products.

Hey all! Wow lots of chirpin already this mornin.

Nuttin like a new kitchen!

Clovey have a good time at the party. I have kids but have a hard time around lil ones when they cry and squel. It makes my overies shrivel!

Ruth paint 'em stain'em wash'em whatever makes you happy. I do like the wood but I also like color. The washes are nice because you kind of get both.
Come on Lucy what are you waitin on an invitation? Well here it is.
Lucy you are invited to come into heat so that your Mommy can have babies. Let her read it and maybe she'll decide to go ahead!
I see geese all the time... the daffies have been bloomin (I call them buttercups) the tulips should be breakin ground. I know the day lillies are.

We had really bad storms here last night. Tornados and all. No harm to us. DDhad a friend over who is terrified of storms though. Wow she was freakin out.

Mamacita welcome to the beach.

Gavinsmom I thought that movie was awesome. I have used that lotion in the past. I have very sensitive skin and cannot use it on my face which is what I bought it for. I have used Nevia for years as a moisturizer but now it has started to irritate my eyes to the point of now I'm on the hunt for a new one. I have tried a couple but no luck yet.

Jennie527 don't know what to do for stretch marks. I know they will shrink as you shrink but I don't think you can get rid of them without surgery or summin. I would love to have a tummy tuck. Probably won't but a girl can dream.

Well not to much on the list today. I have to get the church bulletin done but first I have to go get some new covers and some ink. I ran out. Nuttin like waitin til the last minute. Dd is goin to stay with her friend tonight that stayed with her lastnight. Ds is gone to his dad's so looks like hubby and i will have a night to ourselves. I'm sure we will just sit around the house though. BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's not much on goin out.

I'm plannin an OP w-end and a losin Monday! Have a great one everyone!

Skin creams! Now there is a topic and a half. I have just given in and moved from Clarins 'touts peux' to Clarins 'Extra Firming'. On the advice of the woman there who kind of hesitated when I picked up the touts peux and got my purse and out and said.......'ummm Madam, is this for you?' Yes, it is for me I confirmed, smiling faintly. 'ummmmm Madam, you might be interested to try our range for the more mature skin, here. This is more a starter cream. For women in their twenties and maybe early thirties, but........'. Bloody cheek. But I bought the extra firming (and very nice it is too, priced I might add to suit the more mature woman's budget...........). She also sold me something called 'Beauty Flash Balm' which is supposed to give you 'that glow'. (what glow??? oh, THAT glow. OK. I need cream for that now do I???). And an exfoliator ('this will, umm, perk your skin up a bit Madam').

Humpf.

Stretch marks. Well I am covered in them. I got them when I put on weight and I got a ton more when I lost it. And more when I gained again. . One of those things I reckon. They do fade. But I remember something about using lemon juice on them, dont I? Or was it bicarbonate of soda?

Any help on the stretch marks front greatly recieved here.

I went to the kiddies party. They were all one year old (awww, cute) or the parents of one year olds (at what point does the conversation come back??). No I dont mean to be nasty. I felt a bit jealous of course, being a childless 38 knocking 39 myself. But there was that ovary shrivvelling thing there, Bamiegirl!! Oh well. On and on.

love
