Thanks so much for the warm welcome, I do exercise, I shoot for Monday through Friday at the gym, then the weekends its fun exercise, like walking my dogs, and such. I defenitly dont think I would have made it this far without the exercise.
What do you put in your green tea? Ive heard so many great things about it, I think I should try some. I already drink a cup of tea every morning, it would probably be better if I switched to green.
Im so happy because Im finding this program so much easier, as everyday goes on. Im really feeling good about it! I guess Im in the honeymoon phase where everything is lovely, I hope I can stay here a while!!!!
Hi. Well I just got the SBD book and have been reading through it. I will get my groceries this weekend and start it on Sunday or Monday. Since I had been on Atkins at one point, and have given up a fair number of carbs already this shouldn't be too hard to get started. I do, however, have a chronic systemic yeast problem, but am hoping that this time I will be able to lose some of these pounds. See you all on the daily thread.
Hi. I'm Stacey. I'm on day 4 of phase 1. I weigh 158 and I want to get down to 120 or less. I'm 5'4".
Everybody says that hunger is not part of this diet - but I'm having a rough time with it. No matter how much I eat of the stuff we're allowed, I have this knawing in my stomach and terrible carb cravings. Today seems OK so far - but that's how I felt the past 3 days.
Are spanish olives OK? Last night I had them and finally felt satisfied.
I'm glad this forum is here - I know it will really help!
I am new here, I have already posted my bio on the FAQ Bio thread.
Some basic facts about me are.. I am 24 married (hubby is starting the diet with me tomorrow ) We live in Germany and are both active duty Army. I am 170# and 5'7". My Army standard max weight is 149 and my pre-pregnancy weight is 135, so my goal lies within that weight range.
I am nervous about this diet, because I am not good with denying myself things, espically food. So, I am going to need all of the support I can get!
I saw that there is another Beauty on this thread that is in the Army. I am so happy to have found another active duty female on here!
Anyway, thats about it... I am going to end this so I can read more about ya'll.
Hi everyone! I'm jumping on the wagon with you guys. I bought the book Fri and DH and I started the new way of life Saturday morning. I've been exercising 5 days a week for several years now and thought I was watching what I eat. Of course I go thru "bad phases". This year has been extremely frustrating cuz I've hit a plateau and haven't lost a thing. It seems like I'm doing the right things -- eating yogurt & banana for breakfast, soup, sandwich, fruit and a granola bar for lunch, and small portions of meat with veggies, pasta and bread for dinner (lots of "lowfat" things). Lo and behold the weights not budging at all. After reading the book I realize how much my diet relies on simple sugars and carbs. I know it's gonna be tough for me but I'm on my third day and I'm doing okay. I had a few stomach pangs/cramps last night but they went away quickly. Has anyone else experienced this early on?
I weighed myself first thing Saturday morning and was 162. I have been juggling the same 3 pounds for several months so that's my usual at the peak. After two days following the SBD I'm down to 158. Needless to say I'm feeling very inspired at the moment!!
Funny story -- I cleaned out my fridge and pantry Friday afterwork. In the pantry I put all of the "foods to avoid" on a separate shelf and sealed it off with newspaper so I couldn't see it. It was amazing how there was nothing left in the rest of the pantry!!!! It was bare bones!
I look forward to posting with you guys!! Keep up the great work!
Hi girls!! I've been on the diet for 1 week now and I've lost 5 lbs!!! Thankfully my hubby is doing this with me. It helps to have his support. That and we're a little competitive w/ each other. This is the first diet I have been on and don"t feel like I'm starving. The first two days were a little rough , but now getting easier. I still have cravings, but nothing like they used to be. Thursday was my anniversary and we went out to dinner (i didn't cheat) boy that dessert table looked GREAT but for the first time in my life I was able to say no!!! I know if I can do this anyone can do it!! this site has been such a blessing . Everyone seems to be so caring and uplifting. Thanks, Mindi
Hi,
I'm new to both south beach diet and these boards. I'm 39 next week, married with a 12 & 2 yr old. I am from Nova Scotia and after a week of searching the net and asking a lot of questions on these boards I think I am ready to take on this WOE. Today is day one of week one and I did fine. I missed my carbs like all carb addicts do but I made it though. I drank 9 glasses of water today for a first time in years. I start work tomorrow so I hope I can keep focused and make time to plan my meals, that is a big part of success for me. I wish you all well on this program and hope to get to know everyone a little more as this challenge goes on.
Mary
Hello, everyone! I stumbled upon this forum last night while looking for South Beach support & I am certainly glad to have found it. I am in Day 2 of Phase 1. So far, so good. I only had a few moments of what you might call withdrawl last night when I was craving a sweet very badly But I hear if I can get through the first few days, the rest is easy as pie (pardon the food reference).
I have struggled with my weight for years. It's partly heredity and partly just bad eating habits. In college, I gained a lot of weight (and I had been heavy to begin with!!) so about 6 years ago, I just "dug in" and lost about 80 - 100 pounds by watching what I ate and exercising. Since then I have mostly maintained by weight but a few pounds have recently snuck back on. I exercise regularly and eat relatively healthy during the week, but I go crazy on the weekends.
I would like to lose approx. 40 - 50 pounds so I can be at my ideal weight, and I realized that this requires not so much a diet but a lifestyle change ~ hence, I am now on South Beach.
I look forward to the forum support. Have a good day everyone!
Hi, my name is Judy and I just got the book and want to get started on the diet. I'm having a real hard time losing weight lately. Several years ago I had a lot of success in Atkins but I was just on it again for 6 weeks and lost only 2 pounds (that I immediately gained back the day after I stopped).
A little about me...I'm 50 and married (to a professional chef) and have 2 grown sons and a 17 year old step-daughter. I work full-time outside the homeand enjoy cooking, reading, and knitting. I LOVE watching ice hockey....Go Hurricanes!!!!!! I live in Raleigh, NC.
I think that the South Beach Diet sounds like the perfect diet for me. I'm looking forward to 'meeting' you all.
Thanks for the welcome. I am finding that I am not as hungry as normal today which is a good thing. But the real test in getting through the hours of 7 - 10 and into bed without carbs!!
Happy Canuk ~ in what form did you add psyllium?? Is this helping??
Hello everyone!! I'm now in the middle of my 2nd week the cravings still come and go , but are much easier to beat. I am amazing myself at how I am able to turn sweets away chocolate cake even. When I do have a craving that won't go away i go for a fat free sugar free jello, or fudgecycle. (these help ALOT)I have lost about 7 lbs. so far . I think I'm going to stay on phase 1 for one more week. You girls in the first couple of days hang in there it DOES get better!!
My husband is amazed that I am finally sticking to something. He has cheated abit and tried to get me to. Seeing the weight come off gives me the will power to keep going. I will look at food and think it looks sooooo good, but if I would eat it I'd feel too guilty after it was gone and think it really wasnt worth it.
Have a great day and hang in there!
