Default Boot Camp Challenge 10/27/03-I'm Back!!!!

Troops, ten hut! Sarge is back from her self-imposed R&R! That's right, recruits! "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is on the job, so you had better straighten up and fly right!

Actually, I am the one who needs to straighten up and fly right! I took a week off....off plan, off exercise, off water...oh, and off CIGARETTES! Yup, that's right...I made it through week 1! And still going strong. But I did let the rest of my routine to to the hounds. So, now it is time to whip myself into shape and get back on plan!

But I need your help and encouragement. I have been so busy not smoking (yeah, I know...that doesn't seem like it should take up ANY time, but should give me more?!) that I have not exercised except a few times at work for over a week! And my diet? Let's just say that I need to do phase 1 again! I have just under two weeks until we leave on our cruise, and I refuse to let those 2 weeks just slip by without getting back on track.

So, for the next two weeks I am going to be very hard on myself...and probably all of you by extension!

Do you guys still want to tally exercise minutes like we were doing? Helpful or not? How about the "topic of the day" or "topic of the week" format? Helpful or not? I want to make sure this thread is meeting your needs! So give me your input, please!

I am so ready to do this! I am very proud of myself for quitting smoking, but I can't use that as an excuse to stop eating right and exercising. I have to find a way to do it ALL! Plus I have my hands full getting ready for our trip, but that's another story!

So give me your input...what would you like to see happen with Boot Camp? Ideas for exercise? Problem areas and how to address them? Kick in the rear when you need it?

Dearest GD,

I am SO VERY PROUD of you.

As we all know this is a personal journey.

Welcome back, Frannymae.

I am going to do my very best this week to get back to doing some walking. It seems to be raining all the time so I may have to get the WATP tapes back out. The Girls leap and bound at me when I do them so I may need to confine them to the other room. They seem to think it's playtime!

I do have BodyFlex but all I've done is take it out of the box!

Shall we count minutes again?

Franny, you're a whole new woman! Congratulations, hon!
Now you get back to exercising, girl! New attitude, new smell, new muscles, new you!

I'm with Ruth... the counting minute thingy was good for me.

I've been eating terribly, but I'm going to start on Phase I on Thursday. That would be payday. I need to do a REALLY big shop.

Glad that you are back and starting to feel better. I am so proud of you for giving up those nasty things, now if I could just do it. It is such a weight gain thing with me. I really don't enjoy doing it. But I am so afraid of the gaining that I am sure that is what is holding me back. I know that it is just an excuse. What if we set a challenge as well keeping track. What if we challenged ourselves to up our exercise. ( or even do it in my case.) Then we could list what our time was for the week and then post to you if we have achieved it. Just a thought. Or leave it how it is. Makes no difference to me. Thinking that a little change now and then might shake us up a little.
I too have to go back to phase 1 have not done very well the last few weeks. Holding my weight but I am sure that it will be a matter of time before it starts creeping back. Well chickies have a great day.

Default Hey There

Thought I better check in. I have been staying pretty much to phase 1. I added a fruit 2-3 times a week. And guess what . The scale came to a halt. I walk almost every day.. It seems like my body reaches a set point and stops. Ideas and advice ,I need. I only have a few pounds to go.
You all seem to be doing so well..Keep up the good work...Joanne

Private Sil reporting for action!!!!!
Count me down for 45 minutes of bike and weights for today.

Franny, you are doing a great job as our Sarge, keep up what you've been doing. I think that it's finally sinking in to some of us hard-headed recruits. We need to move, to lose

Pvt. Lizzie reporting: Sarge, I'm glad you are back. I think your platoon really needed you. I like the exercise count-down. It keeps us honest, and makes us accountable. So glad for you that you have a whole week under your belt as a smoke-free person.

Today did my 30min at Curves. Don't know what tomorrow will bring. I'll keep reporting, until you give us a different assignment.

Franny, GOOD FOR YOU for not smoking for a week!!! That's a fabulous first step!! You're on your way!! I hope you enjoyed your R&R....sometimes we all need to take a break! Wow, your cruise is coming quickly!! I bet you can't wait!

I also vote to keep on with the daily boot camp and the exercise. Even though I'm not the most dedicated exerciser in the group (ha! now that's an understatement! ), I do enjoy reading the information and inspiration posted in the boot camp threads. I've actually decided to check out Curves, time to stop making excuses about "no time" or "too embarrassed to be seen in a health club", and to give exercise the priority it deserves and to schedule it into my daily life!
