  • Good morning from frosty Delta! The pups sure weren't out long this a.m. and practically crawled under the stove when they came back! We are getting a large dump of snow tomorrow - 10" or so. March seems to be practicing to go out like a lion.

Not sure what the week will bring (except three funerals) but am now finally admitting I have a cold, not just a scratchy throat. Bad week for it but I've not had a cold for a couple of years so will suffer in silence. I am going for Monday coffee this morning and am then supposed to help prep the "lunch" for a funeral from a death last week. (If it weren't for people dying, there would be no social life in this village!)

Pleased to hop on the scale and see my weightloss held over the weekend. Two more pounds and I'll be comfy in the summer clothes from five years ago when I started to regain. I may even re-instate my ticker.

Whoops! Just realized I forgot to feed the dogs who are sitting and staring at me Bad Dog Mum!

Have a good day to start the week.
  • Good morning Ruth and chicks to come!

Ruth, I was so sad to hear of the tragedy in your community. My thoughts are with you as you go through this difficult week. Kudos though, for hopping back on your weight-loss journey.

Me, headed out to work. Soon. Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning very cold here too! Today is the eye dr and not much more. I have a dr appt tomorrow after work it will reschedule as I'm sure they would like to go home with the snow predicted. I wonder if the boiler company will cancel my annual cleaning appt Wed. Wednesday I have a meeting scheduled in the city at 0900. I will definitely take the train.

Ruth sorry to hear Delta had a tough weekend. Great job maintaining your loss.

Pearlrose is this DD2's first formal?

Beth it must be a guy thing. Joe cant seem to purge things and my ex was a pack rat lol. Joe has been doing a good job keeping the new house neat and organized. However he still has a lot of stuff left in the old house. Lol.

Debbie glad you had a nice time in Glenwood. Nice that you were ale to spend time with your sorority sisters.

The letter B on my keyboard is making typing a challenge!!! Guess I should add that to the to do list. Have a great day.
  • Good morning,

Woke up to snow, not like what the East coast will be getting, we got about 1 inch. On the agenda today, DD2 has ortho appt after school and I need to start packing up things and studying for my course for next week.

Ruth that is awesome that the scale is moving again, I am doing Phase 1 today as I was not good yesterday, need a couple of days on Phase 1 to get back on track when I derail.

Jekel my house was built in 1906 so yes my floors are not level especially in the kitchen there is bit of slope, they are supposed to fix prior to laying the laminate (they said that last time but when contractors arrived they said floor floats no need so we shall see what they say this time). Yes, this is DD2 first formal.

Debbie hope work goes by quickly for you.

    Have agreat day everyone!
  • Good evening, chicks. Winter has come roaring back but at least the daylight is getting longer! (actually I told DH the difference between March snowstorms and December/January is you have a longer opportunity to watch the snow fall, lol)

Work was fine; the kids were trying to predict how bad the storm will be. I say early dismissal tomorrow and late start Wednesday but no day off. We shall see.

Ruth, my sympathy to your village. There have been several ice tragedies this winter; we just didn't have enough sustained cold to create the depth of ice people are used to.

Jennifer, it's nice the train is an option! Just think of the calorie burn from shoveling.

Hope the other chicks had a good day!
  • Good morning,

Getting ready to head into work, day full of meetings today. Nothing on the agenda this evening other than, studying, packing (which I still have not started) and watching season finale of This is Us show.

We definitely did not get the snow the East coast is getting but brrrr it's cold in the 20's this morning.

    Have a great day everyone
  • Good morning! Another snow day for us. This is actually only #4 but we have also had 3-4 delays. For a "not very bad" winter that sees like a lot.

Anyway, I guess that means plenty of time for coffee, reading and a workout, which could involve a shovel. Since things aren't too bad yet I will run out to the post office right when it opens and maybe get 1 or 2 things at the store. Pot roast or beef stew is probably on the menu tonight.

To the chicks getting snow, stay safe! Have a good day, everyone!
  • Good Tuesday morning. Finally managed to sleep until 6 - formerly 5. My body clock always gets confused during the time change adjustment period.

We are cold and bracing ourselves for a large dump of snow. I bring the shovels indoors in case doors get blocked by drifts. I had my meeting cancelled but B. claims he is still going to town to meet with his investment guy! Hope he changes his mind if the big dump starts this morning.

Not sure what the day will bring but I sure have lots to do around here to keep me out of trouble if we're snowed in. Stay safe and warm if you are in this Snow Monster's track!
  • Good morning!

We missed the snow and are getting a lot of rain. My bedroom has 2 skylights so I hear every drop. My husband loves it, it just keeps me up. I don't know why people put them in anyway.

Pearl - I love This Is Us, I thought that episode in Memphis was awesome television - putting his head in his hands...ugh I haven't seen the last episode.

Yesterday we took my d and her 2 friends to DC. I didn't realize how much we'd be walking so I worked out first. I walked over 23,000 steps yesterday and nearly 10 miles, 200 active minutes. I declare yesterday a 2 workout day and am taking today off! We had a tour of the Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, then we drove over to the Jefferson Memorial and then out to dinner. This is actually somewhat of a breakthrough for me - I can get very attached to the rules of a diet and stick to it like grim death. Yesterday, in a move unlike myself - I had a hot dog for lunch, then we went to an asian restaurant (hello sodium), but I had salt and pepper rockfish which was amazing, and I had a scoop of ben & jerry's. I woke up a pound heavier this morning, but there is no way after burning 3500 calories yesterday that I actually ate 7,000 to be able to gain a pound. So I'm not freaking out, just moving forward.
  • Well, the good news is that I am back into some of my Size 12 pants - Alia is a large fit but still ... my spring wardrobe has just doubled!

The bad news? Went out to snuggle my car into the barn for the duration of the storm and the battery is dead! No idea why and not a chance of getting a boost in the storm. Guess I'll have to wait it out. On the other hand, it's a guy thing and the parson may have brilliant ideas when he arrives to take me to lunch. A miracle may be required!
  • Good afternoon chicks

    Congratulations Ruth!!!!
Amy way to get those steps in!!!
    Beth enjoy your snow day
Pearlrose glad the snow missed you.

Absolutely miserable here. Been at work since 0445 and will be until at least 5pm. We are getting clobbered. My workout will definitely be shoveling for hours lol. We have over a foot already and no signs of it stopping anytime soon

Sticking to P1 fir a few days as I am up. Fatigue and TOM are taking the blame as my eating has been my usual no big slip ups.
  • Good morning from the depth of a snowbank.

Feeling overwhelmed between being snowed in (worst this winter) and a still dead car, not that I could get out there to try the engine. I kept the doors and porches cleared in case I needed to exit but the drifts at the bottom are as high as the top step. My neighbour plugged in his charger last night and will be down after daylight to (try to) start the car but the drift at the road is taller than me! (Once again the doggage can't get down the steps to the potty yard.)

We had a great lunch with the Parson's DD and one of her friends yesterday. Maureen is a fashion maven and showed me all the brilliant clothes she bought on her trip to Mexico last week. Drool! We also talked about Florida plans. She absolutely hates to cook but the condo has a barbie so ... I think I'll be doing a lot of kitchen prep or we will be eating out a lot. Going to have to keep a tight rein and my eating down there - having a large lunch yesterday put me up a bit.

As soon as my car is running, I am going hie me to the clinic to get someone to check out my weird "sort of sore" throat that I've had for two weeks now. Gotta ditch it before Florida.

    Back later.
  • Good morning,

Brrr still cold but won't complain no snow, today I am starting from home but am leaving shortly after my 8 a.m. call to go in to do some interviews. I am being bad and not packing, could be because I still haven't bought the storage containers I will do that on my way home from work. DD2 has art this evening other than that nothing going on.

Ruth congrats on getting into smaller pants! Hope your car starts and the doctor can give you something for your throat, I know people around here have had sore throats and coughs that last weeks.

Jekel hope you were able to get home at a reasonable hour yesterday...

    to everyone else

    Have a great day
  • Good morning, chicks! Still snowing like crazy and the wind is making visibility non-existent. Which means another snow day for me! (yes, we only have 1 more left so after this it would be good to have the snow stop) The nice thing about snow days is I don't feel bad if I don't do anything productive.

Ruth, great job on the weight loss and new clothing size! I agree you should get your throat checked out but it might need to wait until tomorrow.

Pearlrose, if/when we do something to our kitchen it will be a major project to move things for us too! Hope you can find a "round tuit" today.

Jennifer, hows your snow total? Hoping your workday is shorter and calmer today.

Amy, great job on your exercise and food! Don't worry about the blip upwards from eating out; for me eating out is always worth a pound or two and it takes 1-2 days for it to drop back down. I'm sure you know to just keep OP and drink extra water.

    Debbie, have a good day!

Time to refill my cup and find my book.
  • Almost good afternoon here!

Ruth - yikes - I hope you get out soon, but what a great excuse to stay in by the fire and read a book! Hope the throat is nothing, but I agree after two weeks it can't hurt. I get sore throats from everything from heartburn to allergies.

Jennifer - how much snow did you end up getting?

Beth - are you reading anything good?

My daughter and friends headed out for their adventures. They all borrowed my coats, and I'm much bigger than them so that should be interesting.

I hit the treadmill today for an hour. I try and mix it up every time. We have one of those fancy kind that you'd find at a gym so it can be programmed. Today my goal was cardio so I did a hill program. I imagine I'll be back to my weight in the next day or so. Amazing what one day can do to the scale! But it certainly slowed me down some. I'd love to be down 40 by easter, but 35 was my original goal. Either way is great. When I get to a new size I order something in the next size down just to see how far I have to go. I ordered a size 12 dress from talbots. It can zip, but I certainly couldn't breathe or sit. So I'm guessing I'm about 10 lbs away from that. Which is amazing, I haven't been a 12 in so many years I can't imagine. Now the sizing of clothes is crazy - so I don't really get hung up on the number on the tag overall, it's just a different way to measure. I am in a size 12 jeans, but 14's in regular pants from the same store. But I started at a 1x so being in the regular section is beyond amazing!
