  • Off to the doc for 8 this a.m. Car is running fine now, lane and deck steps are cleared and my six pounds of stewing beef is nearly thawed. I'd sing a happy song but have only a croak of a voice. Maybe Dr Jack will give me some magic Irish potion so I can get through the next three over-booked days!

Back later but help yourself to coffee.
  • Good morning,

WFH day for me but have lots of meetings on my agenda still. I need to study more and tonight will continue with packing (yes, I started last night). It is in the 20's here but should start warming up tomorrow.

Ruth hope the doctor gave you something that will help.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning!

Seems like I've caught whatever is going around. Now I'm sneezing, my throat is sore, I'm achy all over...yuck. And I've got to get these cute girls out of the house - I gained a pound and just haven't lost it yet. I really need to live in my own bubble of eating. Seriously, just a little off and up goes the numbers on the scale. I just did an easy hour on the treadmill this morning. I do it once a week, I figured since I didn't feel well I was doing a good job just moving at all.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
  • Hi Everyone!

Amy and Ruth, hope you are both feeling better soon!

I've been at the paperwork since 4am. This is my mom's company books. I got started then never finished-today is the day. I will print initial reports for my mom to look over then print finals tomorrow. I just need to be done. Eating has not been good-didn't even have my smoothie this morn. I will----soon.

Hope the weather is improving back East.
  • Sorry several chicks have come down with winter colds.

Amy kudos on working out when feeling under the weather. I seem to be in an exercise rut. Thanks for giving me some motivation.

Beth we got 2' definitely not our normal. My driveway is still covered but at least the snow covering the ice underneath is easier to walk on.

Pearlrose I hope you get some help packing up the kitchen.

Debbie its great you can do your mom's books for her.

The only thing here lately is long, long work days. I was so happy to not have to go in early this morning (went in at 0500 the last two days). Tomorrow I have an uneasy feeling I am going to get called in early. Nothing like dealing with drunks first thing in the morning. My district is one of our smallest commands (30 officers, 5 sergeants and 1 lieutenant total) Tomorrow I have 40 officers, 3 sergeants and 2 lieutenants and that's just the day tour. Believe me I will need every one of them. St. Patrick's Day is worse for us than New Year's Eve and the night before Thanksgiving combined. Yet I enjoy working it every year lol

Last night I made gluten free Irish soda bread muffins. They are really good. Two Irish Soda Breads, one is my Aunt Kitty's grandmother's from Gallway recipe. The other is the same recipe substituting gluten free flour. Let's just say that one is more like a Irish Soda cake. Tastes good, but is flat! I'll bring in the traditional one to work and freeze most of the muffins (Irish Soda bread freezes very well). As a kid I wouldn't eat it. I allow myself this indulgence as I only make it once a year.

Amy I don't think clothes should even have size labels. Now some clothes come in European sizes which really confuses me. I have large feet and depending on the shoe I am anywhere from a 9.5 to an 11. My cycling shoes are a 43 (I get hung up on this lol) Although White House Black Market pants I am a size 6 if it is a "curvy" cut. No where in the universe am I a size 6 except in this store. Of course I have a few things from there lol. Makes me feel good seeing that label.

Time to get myself ready for tomorrow. Have a goof night.
  • Evening, chicks. Today our sky is clear blue and the sun is shining brightly. The fresh snow looks lovely; now can it leave??? Jennifer, we only got about a foot so I feel for you!

My eating has been better and I seem to be undoing some of the gain I had; somehow January and February often do me in. (It probably actually starts on Christmas.) Anyway, I am seeing some scale movement and that is good.

Amy and Ruth, hope you both feel better soon!

Debbie, I sent off my parents' information to the accountant but now I really need to get cracking on our own taxes. It reminds me of having a big school project when I was a kid; the longer your procrastinate the bigger the job seems.

Pearlrose, any chance of getting help with the packing? Hope you had a productive day.

    Jennifer, stay safe tomorrow!

    Have a good evening, all.
  • Happy Feast of St Patrick to yez all! No green outside except the cedars and pines but there is a real pot 0'Gold sun so I'll take it.

Slept late this a.m. since my "gentleman caller" stayed late. The crockpot of stew burbled away all night and the house smells great. Later today it will be lugged to the Town Hall for tonight's dinner event. I will be working the serving tables and bar so sure will be ready for early bed tonight.

Back later - Contractor Paul's truck just pulled in. He has decided to do some bedroom painting next week rather than wait until I'm in Florida. Time for another pot of coffee. Back later.
  • Good morning!

Ruth - Hope you're on the mend!
Beth - way to go! You're sooo close to your goal and that's fantastic!
Jennifer - hope it's a fun, crazy day in a good way.

I'm still not feeling great. Poor hubby couldn't sleep with my massive snoring - I was so stuffy I couldn't breath through my nose while I was sleeping. Today is a no exercise day. My decorator is coming over to deliver my new bedding, my bedroom will almost be done - just one area rug - when it got delivered it wasn't what I ordered. I inherited some money from my parents, after thinking about it for awhile, I decided to do my bedroom and to take a family trip to Iceland. My mom loved travel, loved decorating. Since I don't really have great style or decorating sense I hired someone to help me. She did great listening to what I wanted, and turned it into something amazing.

I'm still stuck on the scale. Wearing the fitbit I see this last drop in weight now has me burning way few calories than before. Certainly not a surprise, but still a bummer. Last week I burned 18,800 - this week I'll do 16,500. There's no way for me to continue losing 2 lbs a week unless I drop to 1375 calories. I really don't want to do that yet. I'm hoping that perhaps all my energy is being sent to help get me better, and once I am the weight will go off again. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  • Top of the morning to everyone,

I am wfh today, still plugging along with both studying and packing and it looks like I will be the majority of the packing, I will put DD2 to work this weekend once I have all the Knickknacks packed and all that is left to pack are the books, did I mention we have 6 bookcases downstairs lol.

Hope everyone has a safe St. Patricks day, will be thinking of Jennifer and all of the drunks.

Sending healing thoughts to all with colds.

    Have a great day

Looks like Amy, Ruth and I all posted at the same time
  • Yes, thinking of Jennifer today! Such a different world in my little town. Denver-a different story.

Rose, I'm glad you have done most of your stuff packed up. Good luck today!

Me, getting geared up to work in the yard today. Yes, there is no snow and it's supposed to be 65°. I'm sure I will pay later. Anything I can do now it's me ahead of the game. I have already turned the water on downstairs. I need to get some watering and it's super dry here. I'm going to get my sweet pea bed ready and will put seeds in tomorrow. It's chilly right now but it will warm up fast.

Good news. Although the road project is far from finished they are going to pour my sidewalk today which will help a little bit. The road is still closed and won't be paved for several months.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Hey chicks! Happy St Patty's Day!

We still have a ton of snow but have had 2 days of glorious sunshine. Really makes it easier to get up and at 'em.

Debbie, I've got a funny seed story. We have an ag class at school and the teacher was starting flower seeds for the spring. One of the aides mentioned to her that the petunia seedlings looked like radishes. Well.....they were! The package was mislabeled at the factory! So today I brought home fresh radishes for my salad.

Amy hope you are feeling better soon.

Pearlrose, I can empathize. When DH painted this basement family room last summer we had to move a LOT of bookshelves.

Ruth, you are really living the wild life!

Jennifer hope your day isn't too crazy.

Have a good evening chicks and try to avoid the green beer.
