Default Onions

I've seen people asking questions about the "legality" of onions in phase 1, and I know they are not on the list of Phase 1 foods to enjoy. I never really knew the answer to questions about the use on onions on this plan.

I came across this as I was reading one of my new low-carb cookbooks yesterday 500 low-carb recipes by Dana Carpender.

"Onions are borderline vegetables. They're certainly higher in carbohydrates than, say, lettuce or cucumbers. However, they're loaded with valuable phytochemicals, so they're very healthful, and of course they add an unmatched flavor to all sorts of foods. Therefore I use onions a lot but try to use the smallest quantity that will give the desired flavor."

Onions have sugar in them as well, so moderation is best!

Lady

Appreciated the info.

Thank you for the information, Twodog!
I was wondering about onions since I do love to use them for flavor in foods.
I will use them in moderation.

I wonder if that means it would be best to avoid the sweet onions and use a small of the ones that have a sharper flavor. It sounds logical.---Must be wrong.
