Default The Weekend - December 3 and 4

No use denying it - Christmas is just three weeks away,

Well, today has to go as planned because yesterday's planned shopping trip went down the tube! I did not entirely waste the day because I got a bit of wrapping done and had a wee meeting with Katherine about Events planning for next year... and the Thrift Shop stuff is already loaded in the car for drop-off this morning.

So... no excuses this morning but a quick drop-off at Thrifty's and a dash into Home Hardware for boot trays and some small floormats for inside the entries. Then off to the Town Hall to work the gingerbread decorating project 3 to 5. After that, we are celebrating Anna's 87th birthday with a cake and some guests. It's also Celebration of The Season and our wee Christmas shop will be open but I am not working it tonight. Because we have public washrooms in the Town Hall that are open for this event, someone has to be there. However, Katherine and I will meet after Christmas to see if the $$$ from the shop these five Saturdays is worth it!

OK, Ruthie, into the warm clothes and crank up this day! Next week is already half cone with MTW with all day events.

Good morning,

It looks to be a sunny cold day today before the snow arrives this evening. We are going to Six Flags today for Holiday at the Park, first time they have done it so we shall see how it goes. I have been busy this morning already finished most of the house chores just have dusting left to do. We went to see Christmas lights last night after a quick trip to the mall had some coupons I wanted to use at Bath and Body. DS and his GF are moving into a bigger apartment today that allows pets- his GF already got last weekend 2 puppies. They didn't need our help since we don't have trucks to haul furniture.

Ruth sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, chickies!

I've got laundry going but not sure what comes next. DH and I had talked about doing outside lights today but currently we have some sort of sleet/freezing rain thing going on so it may be indoor chores. There is also a Christmas concert this afternoon that I may attend if the weather (and my energy level) allows.

Ruth, sounds like quite the busy day on tap for you! Remind me not to ever retire; your life sounds busier than mine.

Pearlrose, I wish we had a B &B closer. The one at our mall closed last year. I love almost everything they sell so I try to carry my coupons and stock up when I travel. Is the prediction for a big snow? I see we are supposed to get it again at the end of next week when that super cold air comes across from the Rockies.

Happy Saturday everyone! Don't let the season preparations get you stressed out.

Good morning. Just finished catching up on all the posts from the week. I must apologize as I really can not remember them. A lot on my mind today. Came home late from work yesterday. Jim was kind enough to walk the boys for me. When I got home, my old guy was stuck on the floor again soaked in urine. This is happening to him more frequently. I carried him outside and back in. He just couldn't support himself. I called DS and told him he needed to come home. Even called his dad to come over (funny story with that one). After everyone left, I cuddled Mick and Coconut until Mick was sound asleep. He seems OK today, but I know its time. The vets here are closed today. So tomorrow I think will be his time. I know everyone can relate with this. My heart is broken.

Now to share the funny story. My ex enjoys "the drink." When my son called him, he said to me I hope he doesn't bring his wife. It was good she drove as he was in no condition. My ex kept repeating himself. For DS sake I bit my tongue. At one point the ex was holding Mick and blurts out "he's gone." I just shook my head and blurted out no he's still breathing! Everyone laughed and after they left my son said "sorry mom dad's an a$$." I don't know why his wife thinks she has the right to touch me. She started rubbing my back at one point. When they were leaving my ex patted me on the head. Yeah don't regret my divorce at all lol.

Today will be a stay at home day and just enjoy the company of my buddy Mick for one more day.

Jennifer, I am puddled up - tears, not pee! - because I can so relate to your brokenhearted feeling. Allowing a pet to go is so very hard and does not get easier every time. I will be sending you good thoughts - you means both you and Mick.

Today is a baking day! I meant to do it yesterday but shopped in town and my body voted on an afternoon nap. That really was a mistake because I woke thinking it was Sunday and forgot the celebration of Anna's birthday at the Town Hall until it was too late to go. I think the little silver bead has trouble finding the right slot in my brain! So today I will do some baking to send to Dave, my son in law, when I send off the Nanaimo package.

We have another chilly and rainy day but our temps are still above normal. The grass is still green and the ground not frozen. Looks like we are going to get winter towards the end of next week but not until after Wednesday when I have a trip to Ottawa planned. I'm going to lunch with my two newly discovered cousins once again and then will stay the night, probably at my sister's condo if lunch runs a long time. I am no longer comfortable driving in the country at night, especially if snow is predicted. I'm wimping out in my old age!

Time to get it in gear and make good use of the day. I slept well and may skip the afternoon nap in favour of an early bedtime. I'm sure I can stay awake until 9 PM.

Have a great day and make it count!

Good morning,

Jekel so sorry to hear about Mick- I hope you gets lot of cuddle time for the both of you today.

Ruth sounds like you needed the nap more than gong to an event

The snow we were predicted to get is just snow our temps are a couple of degrees higher than freezing so we lucked out this time, just an hour north they are getting snow today. I think we will just stay home for a rainy Sunday relaxing day. We went to Six Flags for Holiday Lights and it was great, the show they had was about Jesus birth and was really good.

Have a wonderful Sunday

Good Morning

Jennifer, so sorry to hear about Mick. I'll be thinking of you today. It was very thoughtful to ask your ex to come over. Interesting to get feedback from your DS.

Rose, it looks like a great event yesterday! Glad to hear you aren't getting the snow. Ours is already gone...just really cold.

Ruth, enjoy your at home day. I thought of baking but I'm really trying to get back to 100% OP and they don't mix for me. Amazing the grass is still green after all the snow you got.

Beth, I'm wondering if your weather improved. IT would sure be nice to get the lights up and have it crossed off the list.

Me, I'm going to go work outside for a bit. This is our warmest day for a long while and I think the ground will be frozen for good this time. I still have a bucket of iris I pulled out of the front beds to go back in with the new soil. (Some bulbs, too). Amazing to be able to do this in December. At noon I will head to the local animal shelter to get Kirby his rabies. Then hopefully the rest of the day can be laid back.

Take care all. See you tomorrow.

Afternoon, chicks.

Jennifer, thinking of you. Pets are truly part of the family.

Ruth, glad you had a nap and a good sleep. Like Debbie, I am not really baking, although I will put together a few things when the kids come home for Christmas.

Pearlrose, glad your weather isn't too bad. We are slated for an inch or two tomorrow but I think more is coming later in the week.

Debbie, we didn't get around to the lights. DH made a big batch of chili and then we ended up meeting friends for dinner. Today it was groceries and then we went to Lowe's to pick out the trade-in for our washer. The one we bought at Labor Day was part of that Samsung recall.....you know, the washers that can explode???

Ive got to do some work tonight; I guess I have procrastinated long enough.
