After the long holiday weekend, this sure doesn't feel like Wednesday so maybe it's not a Hump Day!
Today is the day the doggage and I go to the dog spa which is much needed. Jazz has fluffy fur and looks like black bear at the moment. Millie just needs a bath, nails and a trim. I'm lucky that neither of them shed much and are really well-behaved at the groomer. I'll drop them off at 11:30 and then come home and wait for the pick-up call. It's a bit of a drive (20 minutes each way) but a pleasant and pretty journey past farmland, lovely lakes and pretty villages. I am so lucky to live here.
If luck is on my side, Willie will come today to fix my washer. Otherwise, I really should go to the coinwash in the next town tonight. I have lots of clean sheets and towels for my visitors this weekend but do have other laundry for me. Wherever/whenever it takes place, I MUST do a load or two before the weekend.
Debbie I hope your back feels better soon. I've been taking Motrin lately for a hip issue. I may get it checked after my ride as it is becoming more than just a normal ache.
Pearlrose I wish I could work without distractions somedays.
I too have been staying OP and enjoying the benefits. Yesterday I went to a lecture. It was scheduled to begin at 6:30. John and I decided we would eat dinner afterwards. They had healthy and not too healthy refreshments. I opted for some veggies and a little cheese. THANK GOODNESS!!! We left during in Q&A that began at 9!!! We went to a place called Tos Toros. It is similar to Chipolte. Had an awesome salad. Between my walk/subway ride to GCT, walk from 42nd to 59th street and back I got my steps in. John commented to other members from my job he and Brian couldn't keep up with me. Lol.
Today is my last day working at Penn. I have been transferred much closer to home and will be the "boss" so to speak. I was told yesterday it is better to be the captain of a tug boat than the first mate of the Queen Mary. I am inheriting some personnel issues, but I think most of them will be easily resolved. I still have to work Saturdays, but it is my choice if I want to work days or evenings. I asked for a little time to get settled before I decide. I am leaning towards days as it is better for the dogs. Granted I will lose my night differential which is 10% of my salary. Financially I think I will be ok. Here's the best part, I can actually ride my bike there as it is roughly 30 miles from my house lol. The route is a little unnerving by my house, but I may bring the bike to work and ride afterwards before going home. Time will tell.
Have a great day. Today I will be "humping" my stuff from work.
Jennifer, your new location sounds like it has some perks. May the personnel issues be resolved quickly and your adjustment smooth.
Debbie,on finishing the roof!
Pearlrose, have a good day.
Ruth, I'll bet the doggage will looks much better!
Not sure what it on the day's agenda yet. I have all sorts of niggles to attend to....should probably be making a list. Of course that list starts with
Good Thursday morning. We have a heat warning today! With the humidex, it'll be over 100º! Remember I live in Canada, the Great White North. This is really unusual. Usually things start to cool off by now!
I sort of goofed off yesterday so need to get it in gear today. (I decided to stay in Westport while the dogs were at the spa and did some shopping and then had a leisurely lunch at the Inn in town - Greek salad, a glass of wine and some time reading The New Yorker in the lobby.) Still no functioning washing machine. I'll call Willie later to see if the part came in. Otherwise I will definitely hit the coinwash since I have company this weekend.
My scale is moving the right way too, Rose. I was getting very discouraged but having two weddings in early fall helps.
Jennifer, I'm glad you are now in a "safer" place, despite the personnel issue. Working days sounds good.
Beth, sure hope you are enjoying summer. When do you need to go back to school?
Time for a shower and then get some organizing done - maybe even some vacuuming! This is Michelle's regular day but she is away on vacation. Sure hope I remember how to run the Dyson!
Yesterday was an emotional disaster but I didn't eat over it. The roof was too wet to work in the morning so my coworker went to Denver didn't get back till four. We did make progress in the evening until the rain started about 8 PM. We wouldn't have survived a downpour too well but it sprinkled lightly and we had it covered so it stayed dry last night. My coworker was going to take her car down and sit with a good breaks today but I'm going to drive down and we will come back together and work while the car gets fixed. We are getting very close.
My greenhouse is doing well. And getting five cherry tomatoes a day and lots of 4 inch Persian cucumbers. I think I will see if I can pick a few raspberries before I head down this morning.
Ruth, I hope the washer gets resolved. There's nothing more fun than a laundromat.
Beth, I wish I had all your blueberries! That would around my berry harvest out quite well.
Pearlrose, Thanks for all the yoga tips. When does DD go back to school?
Jennifer, your move sounds like a positive one! I listened to your commissioner retirement interview yesterday when I was driving back up from Denver.
OK, I better get moving! Have a great Thursday everyone!
It is supposed to be close to 100 today so good day to stay indoors, I am wfh today so can work on some stuff though I do have a couple of conference calls.
Ruth glad that the scale is moving for you as well. Hope you get your washer fixed soon
Jekel that's great that you are getting moved to a closer location to home
Debbie were you able to complete the roof? Looks like we were posting at the same time, hope you are able to finish today. DD2 starts Aug 15th
Didn't make it in to post yesterday, DH and I left early to take the new car to the dealer for service. The car we got from my parents is a VW and the nearest dealer is an hour and a half away (Watertown,Ruth) so that ate up quite a bit of the day. We won't talk about lunch out.
I am going to get moving soon and take my walk before it gets hotter. We are back up to 90+ today.
TGIF, I think. Once again we are under an extreme heat warning but do have rain and a cooler day predicted for tomorrow.
I am definitely heading to the coinwash this morning or I'll be working at The Mill stark naked tomorrow. I'll do a bit of grocery shopping while the washers run and will bring stuff home to dry. Still no sign of the part needed to fix my washer but I'll check in with Willie while I'm in that village.
While the house is still relatively cool, I'm going to prep the two extra bedrooms for Margo and Elaine tomorrow night and get as much dinner prep done as I can. The boneless chicken thighs are thawing right now. My recipe is probably not South Beach compliant but sure is a hit with people and a prep-ahead one.
My two dogs are back in bed. I think the doggy spa time tired them out!
Good morning. Looks like the humidity is making a return today and staying. This will make the century ride Sunday a little more challenging. However we ride along Dune Rd (Westhampton to Hampton Bays my hometown) which is literally steps from the ocean. Maybe we will make a pit stop before continuing to Easthampton.
Moved in to my new district. Took a walk with the LT and district administrator which was a refreshing change from Penn. The gang at Penn did give me a nice little send off which was very nice and unexpected.
I am off until Tuesday and just plan on taking it easy, well except for Sunday. Was nice being able to grocery shop after work and go to bed by 10 lol.
Ruth enjoy your company. Hope the part comes in soon.
Beth isn't Watertown not too far from Canton? I vaguely remember passing through there. Good luck with the car.
Debbie hopefully today you can finish the roof. Kudos for not turning to food for comfort when things got stressful. I still struggle with that too.
Pearlrose did DD start school this week?
With the exception of Wednesday (sorry was not skipping the goodies) my eating has been OP. I can see my face shrinking from losing the extra water weight I was carrying. My face is small to begin with, but when I'm not retaining water my cheeks seem to sink in. Why couldn't this happen to my tummy, tooshie or thigh? lol
Another wfh day for me, though I do have a couple of conference calls. It is rainy day here will be in the 90s today but the weekend looks to be in the 80s that will be nice.
Beth enjoy your day today, water will help eliminate yesterday lunch
Ruth hope that part comes in soon for you
Jekel sounds like your new position will work out for you. Enjoy the ride tomorrow. DD2 starts on the 15th.
We finished the roof yesterday just as it started to rain. It rained all night and I checked-no drips!
I made an appointment to get my haircut this morning but then my friend and coworker needed to ride down with me. I called and she took me last night. After haircut I stepped into the nail salon next door and did mani-pedi. She got the asphalt off my hands. lol. I also did banking and filled my 5 gal. water bottle.
Today, back down again. I need a new bra and will drop my friend off before heading to my noon meeting. Perhaps life can return to normal.
Jennifer, yay for days off!
Beth, nice to inherit a "new" car.
Pearlrose, glad you can WFH again. Nice the weather will cool for the weekend.
Ruth, what are you making w/chicken thighs! Stay cool!
OK, back to reorganizing. I kept up in the house until the last two days. Then everything went helter skelter. It's getting back to normal, too.
Just as I was scrounging for coinwash silver, the phone rand and Willie arrived at 11. He just left now but I have a working washer and also a blocked mouse entrance. Who knew they would chew through wallboard! Four hours plus parts - but no bill until next week.
Now I am going for a bit of a grocery shop and will be spending a thrilling evening relaxing with the dogs and doing a pile of laundry.
When I get a minute, I'll post the chicken thigh recipe.
